We stopped into The Nest for a quick bite. From the beginning the dining experience was questionable due to the cold demeanor of the hostess at the front of the house (AKA miserable Mary). We tried to enjoy happy hour, but the sad break-up songs that played back to back almost had us in tears I mean really, the atmosphere turned our big holiday loving smiles upside down. The portions were very large and the service was good. That is why I am giving them 2 stars. The food was barely edible and nothing like traditional homestyle southern comfort food. We tried multiple items on the menu all of which were not very good. The food was greasy and poorly fried with unflattering sauces and toppings. The prices were to high for the quality of the food. I have no problem paying 50 dollars and up per person for a good night out but this was not it. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody and will not repeat. My daughter took me there once last year Covid was on high at that time. However I have issues with my legs & sitting so they accommodated me with a first floor table & when the seat wasn't great for me with my disability they brought a chair downstairs for me that suited me & my daughter much better. Oh my! Brought a client here for lunch this week and it was fantastic. I had the jalapeño popper sandwich, just the right amount of spice. Tracey, who was one of my favorite waitresses in another local restaurant is now working there. We received all the attention that we could possibly want and the food was delicious. So I have been to The Nest twice, once for dinner and another time for brunch. The brunch just so happened to be for my birthday & I decided to celebrate here since I fell in love with the decor, the ambiance, and of course the food. Although I didn't have a chance to try the brunch menu beforehand, I knew based off my dinner experience that it was going to be amazing. All the dishes that had been chosen with the help of Mark suggestions (truly a blessing) were a hit!!! My faves had to be Kaytrin's biscuits, fried green tomatoes, banana french toast, and the chicken & waffles everything was just so refreshing. Oh to top it all off it was also bottomless mimosas & bellinis!!! Also had the chance to meet Kaytrin the owner herself, a true pleasure and could totally see that she cares for her business & clientele. Couldn't have been any better, definitely recommend to host an event here. Especially with the COVID rules always changing, one could easily host a private event & still be safe with your friends & family. Will definitely be going back soon! read more

THANK YOU for using separate fryers for shellfish. I have a shrimp allergy and most places have on fried shrimp dish that they fry with everything else. It eliminates half the menu for me. This place met and exceeded all of my expectations! The decor is absolutely incredible. Stunning, I can't even explain the detail that went into this space, it's luxurious and nothing I've ever seen before especially in the capital region. The welcome at the hostess stand was warm and they were very organized , greeting us and confirming our reservation, guiding us right to our table and keeping other guests well spread out going up to separate groups to greet and seat very quickly. It made me feel very safe right away. We were seated and greeted within seconds, ordered our cocktails and settled in. The service again was outstanding, very pleasant, attentive and friendly. Took the time to explain the menu modifications needed for my gluten free guest and helped us plan out our evening! We had a great time sampling three appetizers and two entrees. Everyone was delicious and interesting, their food in albany has always wowed me but this really just blew us away. 10/10 and will absolutely return as often as I can! read more

Came here for my birthday dinner and everything was great. Waitstaff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Inside of the restaurant was very large and modern, and the patio out front was so nice. We have been big fans of the Cuckoo's Nest in Albany, and the menu here was very similar. The lobster roll salad was so good and my husband loves the fried chicken sandwich (firebird with no hot sauce). I wish an official kids menu was available, but our waitress did offer a few children's selections verbally. One drumstick and a waffle would have been great! read more

We attended the first-ever brunch service at The Nest, and despite having a limited menu for their first service we were able to get some amazing food that came out quickly after ordering. The service was great, and multiple people including the owner visited our table to check on us. You would never have been able to tell it was the first brunch service -they ran a well-oiled machine! My wife and I were really looking forward to trying this place after all of the great things we had heard. Unfortunately we were disappointed. I was very put off by them making us wear masks inside especially since the CDC and NYS says we no longer have to if you are vaccinated, which we both are. Other than that the food was good. My wife had the scallops and I had fried chicken. The chicken was too salty for me but if you like salty then it's ok. The side dishes and desserts were better than my entree. The acoustics inside are terrible so the place is very loud. read more

This is my second time here and this restaurant is amazing!! If I could give it 10 stars I would. From the service to the atmosphere. Great food and vibes all together. If you decide to dine here look for the server named Donna she is amazing, very attentive, caring and she will make your experience one to remember. Also right now they have this raffle going on where they are hiding gift cards around the restuarant and if you find one you can use it towards your meal. We found one underneath our table and that gift card made our whole meal FREE! Which was pretty cool especially in these times. If your worried about dining in due to covid with their set up everyone is pretty spaced out so your not right on top of each other. Also you can order food to go if you dont want to dine in as well. I really cannot say enough about this place you have to try it for yourself and see. I ordered the biscuits and the half chicken with mac and cheese and Mac salad. Both extremely amazing. My fiance ordered the short ribs and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich both which were amazing as well. I would not recommend the Nashville hot if you do not like spicy food though. We also ordered a few drinks and some wine which was very good as well and dessert. I got the cream cheese chocolate moose and my fiance got the peanut butter cheese cake both amazing. If your looking for a place to eat and your in the Schenectady area I highly recommend here. read more

Went to the Nest for a friend's birthday dinner. All of us girlfriends had so much fun & loved our appetizers & meals. Everything was perfect from the outstanding service to the super delicious food. I had the fried chicken & waffles & it was simply wonderful. The chicken was crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside-perfectly cooked! Loved the waffles too. I liked it so much, I ordered one of their family meals to go, a few weeks later so my family could try it & everyone raved about it. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

Was more disappointed with their drinks, I was expecting pretty and unique options, I got the pineapple mimosa and it was the most basic drink no garnish and they only fill a wine like a quarter of the glass. If you are going to fill only a quarter of a full size wine glass then use the champagne glass so atleast it looks better. The drinks can do better with even bare minimum garnishes. Went to try out the new restaurant today with my girlfriend. I'm a chef by trade, so it was great that the food was spot on to the southern theme. The restaurant itself was very clean and looked very welcoming. The drinks were fantastic. We had the pineapple express (x2) and a special with blood orange moonshine, vermouth and club soda (of course x2). If we could recommend one thing, we would say keep the drink special on the menu. It was outstanding. Also wanted to give our server Owen a shoutout, he was very personable and prompt, and not pushy in any way. Yesterday, finished the trifecta of Crave, The Cuckoo's Nest and The Nest with a trip to the last with a friend. We had the pineapple mimosas, starting with Kaytrin's biscuits with wonderful honey butter and jam. We didn't finish these solely because we wanted to have enough room for our main meals. I had the special they had of an omelette with chorizo, pepper Jack cheese and spinach. She had the banana bread French toast. The omelette was amazing and the French toast was so good that you didn't need to add butter or the wonderful bourbon maple syrup they had, but we had to try it. The service from our waitress, Tanya was amazing, coming at just the right times and just enough that we felt she was available but not hovering. She asked me to rate The Nest, 1, 2 or 3. I said heck, you get 5 out of 5. She explained that she was wondering between all 3 of the restaurants where The Nest came in. Definitely thought it was #1. Better location would be on a park, instead of State St, but it didn't take away too much from the wonderful visit.
