Shopping online from Maine, theirs was the 5th or 6th on-the-ground real, in-town (vs. online) floral shop I researched, following discovering them here, thanks to Yelp. Nobody offered what was shown on the typical FTD or Teleflora, it seemed. Only, I needed something special for my friend, who'd suddenly lost her husband. Arrangements offered by others weren't right for my artistic friend's elegantly designed and furnished home and tastes, nor the expression I'd hoped to achieve. THE NEW LEAF's, however, were phenomenal. I was blown away! Never had I seen such beautifully designed arrangements -- indeed, "beautiful floral designs" -- which is why I chose them. I selected "Soft Serenity" for the balanced trio of greens, lilac and whites, and balanced artful composition, too -- only to be sad seeing what'd arrived had substituted some yellow and other flowers. Uh-oh... Calling Dina with my disappointment, however, I was kindly offered either a refund or to send again. We worked closely to ensure that softly serene design I sought for comfort was replicated as closely as one can... I'm so glad I did! My friend was just over the moon with superlatives! While the first was nice, the second was absolutely Wonderful, she'd said. And just now on the phone she shared how the arrangement was simply Magnificent. "Wonderful" and "Magnificent" are pretty exceptional descriptors of their designs... All-in-all, a terrific value and experience. What a charming floral shoppe in the West Ghent area of Norfolk. It was my 2nd visit here in about 4 months as I was in town for a not so celebratory occasion, yet needed florals. Yes, the floral designers/creators can make the tradition flowers of yester years but what made me stop in was their creative composition of creating contemporary florals that encompassed textures and elements that made them more unique than some of their contemporaries. Even more impressive with me was the interpersonal skills and customer service of Sarah & Laurel. Personable and engaging with an eye for detail to create your vision when giving them a modest description of what I wanted. And it's always a plus when a business owner remembers you from a previous sell, especially when you are not a resident of the area. My request was for 6 corsages with white flowers with a royal blue ribbon and each had to be unequalled expressing their own character. They nailed it on the head. I had requested to pick them up the next day at a later time but was in the area in the late morning and called to see if they could accommodate an early pick up. I found this company on Yelp, and submitted a request. Almost immediately I received a response and called to speak with the owner. My sister and her husband moved to Virginia Beach in September to live with their son. In a few short weeks, she moved, lost her husband, developed pneumonia and became homebound. Her 75th birthday was 11/30 and I wanted something special to send to her to know we were thinking of her since she didn't want visitors. I found New Leaf online and called them directly (why was I charged a wire fee)and ordered flowers. After completing a form online that included my sister's name, phone number, address and reason for the flowers the night before, I was called at 9:15 the following morning by Tara. I wanted reassurance my sister would have them to enjoy most of the day and I was assured. First of all, Tara wrote down the wrong address for the driver who delivered them to the neighbor of the wrong address since that person was not at home. Then adding insult to injury the driver did not call my sister who would have given him the correct address but left a message for me in Florida who didn't pick up the message until 5:20 after the store closed. Thank God for the kind neighbor who called me to ask where my sister lived so she could deliver them. This was at 6:30. I had a call from the owner this morning who got my message from last night and contradicted what I told her regarding the neighbor and the time of delivery. Whenever I could get a word in, I told her the 'neighbor' lived two streets over from my sister and because the woman worked, my sister did not get her flowers until 6:30. Happy birthday indeed! They let me know that their delivery driver was already on his way back for the day, but put me on hold while they called to see if he'd be able to make an additional stop.
