But it was 3 o clock, and I was on a mission--to avoid super-turnpike traffic and to purchase a book. Well, I bought three. The County Bookshop is up a few brick steps on the right side of the street. Saw the name; had to go. Used and out-of-print books. I broke into a smile. An old home converted into this bookshop, it is a fitting dressed-down arrangement. Entering, there are rooms to the left and right. At the right rest philosophy books, and near the register first-edition copies of books. One I saw was a C.S.Lewis story. These books are not in the most beautiful condition, and many seem to have been gifts with cursive notes scrawled in the covers. But these little rooms are not all! Browsers can wander further to another room, and another after that. Each section is distinctly labeled. Signs even direct you to poetry and literature. There is everything from philosophy to travel to gardening and food to French lit and surely beyond. The best is yet to come. Outside sits a rack of books for 35 cents. Inside, there is another near the cashier, where each book is 50 cents. The gentleman, presumably the owner, was soft-spoken and had no idea what to say other than Thanks when receiving praise for the store. Perhaps he isn't used to it, since apparently there are other book stores in the very near vicinity. Buck County Bookshop is what I saw first, and walking out with Philosophy of Science ($7.95) Intro to Mathematical Philosophy ($10) and World Orders Old and New ($7.50) I was pleased with myself. I bet the other stores didn't have these books!

For modern bookstores (in our post-Amazon world), it's an enormous independent bookstore: well-stocked, expansive, well laid out (not crowded). I loved their huge Staff Picks section - their many staff members suggested books than run the gamut from YA to romance to literary fiction. They also had an area of goods and tchotchkes, making it a great shop for buying gifts. If you need a book (or want a book - since you can never have too many?) and are in the area, I highly recommend Doylestown Bookshop for a browse.

This place has an amazing collection of old books, magazines, newspapers, everyday documents, used…read morerecords, CD's and old currency. I bought some science fiction magazines from the 60s and 70s for only 15 dollars. The issues were in great condition. I also collect old newspapers and they have a good amount going back to the 1800's. You can easily spend hours at this place. Employees are all very nice and knowledgeable.

Bottom floor contains books, vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, maps magazines, old postcards and pictures, and everything in between. Unfortunately we found it to be disorganized and musty. A couple of the books I paged through on the bottom floor were dirty and should definitely be upstairs in the one dollar section. Mainly older books. Don't expect to find a lot of current reads. Also, one thing to note is that the adult men's magazines were not far from the comics. Not the best idea. The staff that was there was very helpful trying to assist everyone to find what they needed. If you have a day to spend a couple of hours and would like to hunt for a gem, give it a go.

Nice selection of whatever you're looking for music-wise: rock, jazz, pop, punk, indie, blues, etc. Very cool vintage vibes inside and a very helpful and friendly staff. The owner Chelsea knows her stuff! Can't find something you're looking for? She'll track it down for you. Plus, they advocate for the local community. Recently, they gave away gift credits to local teachers for their contributions to our community. Very cool! Please enjoy a monster packed sandwich at 7's Deli next door if you come here. On to the review of the comic shop...This place has a lot going for it, graphic novels rack with 30% off, tee-shirts, wall comic books (expensive sought after comic books that are fun to look at on the wall) and what appears to be a large back issue stock. I was killing some time and only bought a comic book oversized sleeve with a backing to protect the first appearance of Shadow Moon Premiere issue 23. I recommend you stop in as they have everything from Alf put together figures to very nice pieces of art work detailing comic book icons. Very glad this store isn't too far away but if I am being honest I buy 99% of my comics online. Great selection of toys, comics (current issues line the walls, lots of back issues, and lots of wall books for serious collectors), a lot of trades (which are really well organized which is something that I think a lot of comic shops don't do nearly as well as they should - these guys do!). They also have a nice selection of Hot Toys and statues, as well as tshirts. What puts this place over the edge? The staff. This is not your stereotypical comic shop staff (which, to be fair, is not as common nowadays as when I was a kid) where the clerks would look at anyone who came in that wasn't a regular as an outsider to be shunned. These guys make all feel welcome, even those who know nothing of these nerdly delights. I've seen them help moms search for something for their kids as intently as regulars looking for a new book to try. The best thing I can relay, though, is a time I went with my son - we walked in, were greeted as we did, and went about perusing the store. As we walked around, one of the clerks came over to us, asked if it was ok to give something to my son, and gave him a little plastic Flash ring. It wasn't fancy but it was a touching gesture that made me and my son feel welcome, even moreso than we already had. So if you're looking for a comic book shop, this is your place!

The staff couldn't have been more helpful--they guided me through great options, worked within my budget, and even some of the other customers hanging out in the shop chimed in with recommendations. In the end, my nephew was ecstatic with the picks. Big thanks to Cyborg One for helping me be the coolest aunt!

This is a shop I've had on my radar to visit for a long time, but it just didn't work out until…read morethis trip. The shop is located in a back alley, if you find the Doylestown Brewing Company it's right around the corner. They are not a large shop, but it is stocked from floor to ceiling. Cyborg One is one of those rare shops that only stocks a limited amount of new pull comics. Graphic Novel selection is large and spread across the shop, and they also stock Manga. Another different item is a large amount of collected comic sets. The selection of collectables and board games is also good, with Magic: The Gathering cards also stocked. Overall, a great small comic shop that could be easily missed by many, like we did, unless they stop in.
