I was in the Bridgeview area on business with another employee. Given this is a little out of our geographic region, I went to Yelp to find a nice ethnic restaurant that may be something out of the ordinary and found Nile. The reviews were a little varied, but there were enough positives to give this a shot. We got there around 11:20am for lunch. Unlike some of the lunch Middle Eastern restaurants, this one did have servers who came to your table to take your order (vs. ordering up front and calling a number). The early problem was that our server did not speak English (or at least not that well). I can't hold that against the restaurant, but it did make communicating a little challenging. After placing our orders, about 5 minutes later, the server came back and tried to tell us that some of our items weren't available yet for lunch. She was nice and gave options to replace. The food came and it was just fine. Nothing great, but nothing bad. The Pita was good as was the Hummus. We had ordered entree's vs. sandwiches. The price per person for just the lunch entrée came to about $19 with tip. To me, a little high for a lunch menu. I've seen similar at Pita Inn for half that amount. Bottom line, the meal was fine. Service was just okay. Try it if you are in the area, but if I ever find myself in Bridgeview again, I'll try something new. read more

I love coming here! I always get the hummus and falafels just to start. Portions are very generous. Ive tried the shawarma wraps and meat combos, everything is good and might I add, better than the place across the street with better prices. I'm rating this 1 because I live near Dearborn, MI which is the Mecca of Arabic everything. I came here hoping for Fattoush Salad, which they didn't even serve, if they had a website with a menu, I would have never went here. I love Lentil soup and it was watery and alright but nothing like Dearborn. I'm used to getting garlic sauce with my pita bread and they don't do that, but the server was very nice and supplied me with there version of garlic sauce, Not the same. The Kafta was good. Not a very good selection of food compared to what I'm used too. Also, the price was pretty high for what you get. I'm thankful I live near Dearborn and I can get Great Arabic Cuisine whenever I want. read more

To be fair, I have ordered take out several times from here and was satisfied with the food every time. However, we invited relatives there from out of town and we were astounded at how horribly the place came together as a sit-down restaurant. The level of filth in the place and the lack of service precludes us from ever considering this place again. We were a party of six, with two small children. The kids received their food dead last. Humus and falafel were served without bread. There was a language barrier between us and the server, even though we speak Arabic. We repeated the order the first time and the second he screwed it up, but he could not bring us our meal as we ordered it. The decor is very, very dated. The place is very dirty. There is a feeling of deje vu from "soup Nazi" from the owner. I realize that there are slim pickings for a decent Middle Eastern restaurant in this area (sad as it is). But please send these owners a message and don't give them your money, so that they improve the service and atmosphere. read more

Been coming here for years. It reminds me of jordan, old music playing and a bunch of cooks running around, they seriously have about 10 cooks back there! Their shawirma is very good but I tend to get their special of the day, they cook a lot of homelike dishes which is great if you eat out alot and craving a hot home cooked meal. Their adas soup and homemade labana are also very good. The atmosphere isn't comfortable for me, tables are pretty close to each other and you don't get privacy, but the servers are great. I definitely recommend this place to everyone, their are many restaurants in the area but this is the place if you want a authentic teast. read more

Sitting area is not that great but service is friendly and food is some of the best I've tasted! Highly recommend the beef shawarma meal or the lamb chops. Prices can be a little low to a bit expensive, but it's overall worth it for the quality! read more

Went in on a Sat night and ordered dozen falafel, lamb entree, and foul to go. All I can say is wow!! The food was absolutely incredible, after I paid for my order I discovered the whole meal came with jerusalem salad fresh pickled turnips with banana peppers, wasn't expecting that but it was a nice perk. I waited 15 minutes for my order, considering the quality and price of this meal the wait was worth it and the employee who took my order gave me a menu and said we can also phone in our order ahead of time I do realize most restaurants have pick up service but the nile restaurant without a doubt has earned by business and respect. read more

I came to this restaurant because my son was having a haircut next door and it was convenient. I wish I went to bawadi across the street! The food was given to us cold and too fast (not all at once) I have respect for the people I'm eating with and am not going to eat my meal in front of them as they wait for theirs. I waited for 10 minutes before she came back to me to tell her my food was cold (mind you the place had 4 tables open). When we told our waitress the food was cold she began to tell us it's her fault she took too long. If that's not enough she was in such a rush to leave her shift she gave us the bill to sign .. at this point my husband is on his second bite of food, she comes back again asking if we signed.. we said no not yet! She leaves and comes back the 3rd time asking if it's ready for her to take.. at that point my husband puts down his sandwich looks at her grabs the bill gives his CC while telling me not to say anything. Absolutely horrible experience. Yelp reviews on this place are beyond off. The Chicken shwarma was cartilage filled and gave you that "mystery meat" feeling. The falafel were unseasoned and undercooked. The Garlic Sauce gave your imagination a run as to what else it could look like. PITA LAND kicks this places butt. Hello, everyone: this is more of a wake up call to the owners of the Nile restaurant than it is an unfavorable review. I have been a regular customer to this facility since the day they opened for business and before that a customer at their old location in Chicago. I went to the Nile restaurant Saturday afternoon 11/16/2013 with my brother. we asked about the special of the day and it was Mansaf (Yummmmmm) can't go wrong with that.we also asked for soft drinks and tea . When the food arrived I noticed that the Lamb was mostly bones , it had hardly any meat on it. My brother noticed the same thing but he proceeded to eat his food, I explained the situation to the waitress and she said that she would ask the manager, when she returned she said that the manager told her that's the way it comes. I refused to eat the meat and told her so , then she went back and told the manager that I am not going to eat the food or pay for it. He told her to remove the food from the table and basically I am on my own. She asked if I wanted something else and I said no I came here for Mansaf and I have been a regular customer for many years and I will not come back ever again. She informed the manager and returned with a new Mansaf plate all meat and hardly any bones the way it should be served, I don't like paying 15 dollars for bones. The waitress was nice but forgetful she took my spoon away and did not bring a new one back so I was eating my food with a teaspoon. she passed by and my brother asked her again for a spoon and she said I thought you were joking, and she forgot his soda and a hot pepper that I asked for. While we were eating we noticed another couple struggling with their Mansaf again mostly bones. Also while we were eating another clean up lady showed up to our table and reached over our food and started cleaning up the table, her clothing and or hair was almost touching the food. (Gross) . Here is the clincher. Four people walked into the restaurant and were seated behind us, they ordered Mansaf and from the reaction of their waitress it seemed that they know her, I was watching the Mansaf as it was being delivered to them. ( All meat, no bones and plenty of it). ( Favoritism ). We are all paying customers we should get the same treatment and the same quality food served. YOU OWE US THAT MUCH read more

Used to order falafel by the dozen in the past. I just noticed that they don't drain the oil in their deep fryer. They just re-use the same oil over and over which explains why my stomach ached and why my stomach was always twitching. The cooks have a bad habit of touching their faces, scratching their ears and noses all the while preparing your food. That is just a complete apetite turn-off. You have to appreciate this place for what is and try to compare it to what its not meant to be. Its traditional Palestinian dive meant to recreate that feel in the streets of Ramallah and Jerusalem. The food is to shawarma and hummus like Al's Beef is to the Italian beef. Yes there could be better but it has that flavor and feel thats authentic. Recently tried this place for the first time. The falafel here is phenomenal and the Hummos was great as well!!! Oh and their spicy sauce was the perfect touch to my falafel sandwich!!! The food here is great! Their breakfast is second to none relative to all middle eastern restaurants in Chicagoland. BUT service is awful. The service is as bad as the food is good. Servers are not properly trained. ~30% chance of getting a dirty dish or utensil. If service was improved to just average I would Change my overall rating to 4+. read more
