My 3 year old son loved the bus ride and the little activites prepared for the kids. It is definitely an experience for younger kids, which I'm so glad my son enjoyed, welcoming the christmas spirit. However, it was hot in the warehouse even during the wintertime. The kids picked and dressed bears they couldnt keep. The waiting area for santa pictures was crammed and long, so you can imagine the frustration of parents with impatient littles standing in line. The pictures with Santa were rushed and blurry. I asked to see them and they immediately said they came out good (which they didn't) We drove from Phoenix, so its not worth the money in my opinion. read more

Even better than I expected, i heard from my friend who went there last year but didn't want to do any research because I also wanted to be surprise for me. As soon as arriving at Little America hotel, there are signs all around to check in for North Pole experience. All the Elfs were super helpful. Check in was easy. But there were so many kids and adults walking around the place. Our ride was at 12.30 and we lined up inside at 12.15. We enter the trolley and the ride is like 10-15 minutes, you can't see through the windows, but there is a TV on and Elf is talking all the time. When we got there, everything was unbelievable. In the first room we meet elves and huge room with compas and all the Christmas decorations. Right after that kids lined up at the door and we enter another room where they got teddy bears and clothes and they need to put the clothes on a bear. This was interactive and very fun experience kids really enjoyed. Next room was the room with the belt where gifts are loaded on the belt. They had music and bubbles coming from the ceiling which was amazing. Next room was like big dining room where all the kids sat down (some adults too?!) And had cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa. Can't remember what was the next room, but very late room was with Santa. They would take pictures with us and Santa. Santa was the coolest guy ever, he talked to us and kids and made jokes. Kids were laughing all the time. He would say silly words so kids would laugh (snicker doodle, fart....) I didn't feel rushed or something. Truly great experience. And plus kids get the black teddy bear with NPX outfit. After Santa's room we exit out to outside area and waited for the trolley to bring us back to the hotel. We had an amazing time!! I have a special needs son and my husband had to exit with him while we were on line to see Santa! When it was our turn the staff located them and had us go in to see Santa ahead of the others standing in line. It was organized and not chaotic at all!!! Events like this can be daunting for special needs families because we just never know how it will go... will we get the Santa picture? Will my child throw a tantrum... will the lines be too long? Will it be too stimulating? We never know. I was so touched by how smoothly everything went that I teared up on my way back. I got the Santa picture! I got the family picture! This experience is really cute. If your kids get restless this might be better for them than the Polar Express train. I would recommend this for the average 4, 5, and 6 year olds. Mine is 7 and while he enjoyed it, i think he's just slightly too old for it to be "magical" - but make the call based on your own kids. The free bear is great but this years bear's face looked a bit like a monkey! You don't need to check in to the bus an hour before! But if you do you can kill time in the North Pole gift shop and the hotel gift shop. Parents please don't bring kids if they can't walk through on their own - they need to be old enough to experience and remember it, if youre spending that much money! I do think the time slots are a bit close together. My recommendations for the people that plan this: (1) build in time for a bathroom break at the beginning upon arrival and at the end before boarding the bus again (2) give the elves mic packs, it was a little hard to hear and you can't keep the kids attention off they can't hear, (3) give more time to the bear dressing, Mrs Claus, and letter writing rooms, as these are more interactive. The North Pole was honestly astounding. This was our first time coming up to Flagstaff for Christmas events, and we were torn between this and another well known activity. We picked the North Pole and I'm glad we did. I wish I could give extra stars because I was beyond impressed. The detail, the staff, and the commitment to making it feel magical for kids were top tier. From the moment you board the trolley, they move you from one fun stop to the next. You get transported to the North Pole, welcomed in, the kids get to build Christmas toys, try Mrs. Claus' snacks, and then you get real one on one time with Santa. From the check in area inside of the Little America Hotel, where the decore was brilliant to take family pics, to the trolley ride through the portal to the North Pole. The entire experience throughout Santa's workshop was amazing!!! My kids had a blast interacting with the elves, Mrs. C, and they had a ton of fun searching for Scout Elves. Meeting Santa was magical! He was just the best interacting and having fun with our entire family. The elves taking our family pics really put in a ton of effort as well to make sure we got a good photo. We will definitely look back on this memory fondly for many years! This was such a fun experience! We took our 4 year old daughter and she had a blast! The journey begins at Little America -- you check in and then await your trolley to the North Pole and ultimately Santa's Workshop. There are lots of elves around showing us different parts of the toy making areas and then meeting with Mrs. Claus for some treats and cocoa. The kids go to Elf University and graduate as elves, receiving their graduation certificate at the end. The last part of the magical experience is meeting Santa and taking photos. Santa also personally gifts a teddy and spends some one-on-one time with the kiddos. Overall, a wonderful experience for families! We really enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend it. Or is it? :) You board the Santa shuttle with other guests and a dedicated team of elves. The elf on the microphone tells you all you need to know about the magic portal that brings you to the North Pole from Arizona within minutes. You arrive to Santa's workshop where you get to help create toys for the workshop, fabulous holiday decorations, delectable donuts, snowman soup aka hot chocolate, a personalized Santa visit with photos, and a keepsake bear before taking the portal back to where you started. I must add that Little America Hotel was wonderful for this experience! This is where the shuttle leaves from and we really liked the accommodations. This was our second year going with our now six year old, and it was incredible both times! Some of the older reviews just do not match our experience. From start to finish, this is a highly immersive and curated experience where even as an adult, I felt the magic. The elves were all great, highly engaged and focused on making the experience memorable. The vintage toys, the sleigh, the reindeer crossing over as you wait for your Santa time - everything just works. Our daughter absolutely loved every second of it, and frankly so did all of the adults! I limited the photos I'm posting, because there are people in most of them and I want to be respectful. Okay friends! A lot of the reviews on here are SO negative. I find that really sad... I believe the problem that people complain is because they took their kids at an age that is too young. If your child wants to run wild and has difficulties paying attention or respecting rules then this may not be the experience for you until they hit the appropriate age. It's like taking your kids to Disneyland when the are "free" 3 and under I'm sorry but your setting yourself up for a miserable trip, don't doc the establishment or employees because your trying to pinch pennies. This is the same for this experience! You have to remember your not the only one in the room, there has to be a time limit for each family so everyone can "share" the experience. My family and I had a great experience. our son is 12 and daughter is 7, now my son knows the story of Santa but still played into the experience and made it magical for his sister. Each kid develops at different ages so finding that "ideal" age is important for this kind of experience. Personally the ticket prices were decent for the experience that comes with it. I purchased the commemorative ornament (tip- take it with you through the entire experience because the elves will sign it) along with the yetti-O's donut kit. The ornament and the kit are very nice quality for what you pay. From checking in, the trolley (charter bus) ride, to the entrance into santas workshop all the way through the entire experience was so much fun! Each room has something interactive to do, the elves were nice, fun and engaging. I am very big on making sure our family picture is taken with a legit bearded Santa and the one we got to meet was awesome! He was engaging with both kids, a nice bear was given to both of them and questions asked about what they want for Christmas along with what was their favorite part of his workshop? We did not feel rushed at all. They had special touches smells, sounds, little scouter elves in each room that didn't go unnoticed by my husband and I. All these little details added to the experience. We would highly recommend this experience and will do it again I'm sure. Thankfully we chose the perfect age for our daughter before that child's innocent Christmas spirit is gone. My only other tip I would recommend for first timers would be to go at night time. The 8 yr old was so happy; the 4 yr old was indifferent. The 3 adults were not pleased with how things could have gone. It was all about shuffling crowds through.....too many booked $$$$. The adults kept blocking the way to take photos of our kids. Each room I.e., dressing a bear to be sent to Santa's sled was kept only a few min so the 4 yr old could not get it dressed, so the elf just took it from him; The yeti donut room did not have enough "3 oz of cocoa in a plastic cup" and dixie cup with 3 little donuts" for all-some adults got/some not. Then only about 4 min which meant kids could not eat that fast; Kids could not write their Santa list fast enough, so felt sad they wouldn't get stuff--adults had to fill it out! The Santa was very nice and REAL. The kids each got a bear-very nice. From time on the bus to start the drive to the bldg to time on the bus to go back was 1 hr. SO a total of 1 hr & 20 min including driving time! I complained so a person gave us 2 ornaments. Others just complained on the bus to each other. Our family had the most magical time at the North Pole Experience! We made the 2 hour drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff for this memorable opportunity. To start, you board a "trolley" aka bus which takes you to an offsite location aka the North Pole. I originally thought this experience was at the hotel, but it isn't. They have a fun human elf and TV clips that make the trolley ride fun and interactive both to and from the North Pole. Once you arrive, you're greeted by elves and taken back to experience multiple rooms of wonder, i.e. favorite toys, workshop, teddy bear stuffing, elf school, treats with Mrs. Claus, etc. At the end, you get to meet Santa, get your photo taken, and the kiddos are sent home with a cute teddy bear. My 5 year old absolutely loved it, but my 2.5 year old was just a tad too young. We will make this an annual tradition for as long as we can! :) I'm not sure who had more fun, the adults or the kiddos. It is worth the price. The North Pole experience in itself was absolutely magical. this is not our first year going and I will continue to love the overall experience and take my children. I am only writing this review so that someone can talk to Santa about the way he chooses to speak to children. While on the train, Santa boarded so he could hand out bells to the children. my son is 8 years old and was practically shaking he was so excited to see Santa. my son was holding out his hand waiting his turn for santa to give him a bell and saying "Santa Santa!" out of pure little kid joy. and Santa turns to him and says "you need to learn to be patient. this is why you're in the naughty list" dropped a bell in my kids hand and walked off. my son proceeded to cry the entire drive home that Santa told him he was on the naughty list, and I'm honestly just livid about it. I KNOW I did not just drive three hours, pay hundreds of dollars to have Santa be an asshole and make my kid cry. Santa this year needs to be talked to and like re educated on how to not shatter a child's dreams or something. read more

I was somewhat disappointed in this experience, I guess maybe I was expecting to be "WOW'ed" after reading a few good reviews that highly recommended this- my mistake. I should've read more reviews, especially the negative ones. I was just looking for things to do with my kids(4 & 5 years old) this holiday season, didn't read more about the experience beforehand, so I had no idea what to expect at all, other than I thought it was supposed to be really super fun and amazing. First off- this experience is definitely geared towards kids- mainly in the age range of about 4/5 to at most mayyyybe 7. Older than that, they'd likely be bored. I couldn't pinpoint why I didn't feel right when I left the experience, why I didn't feel like I was as happy as I was expecting to be? Then read the negative reviews on here which helped made it make sense. You are transported in a bus that has all the windows covered so you can't really see anything. An elf talks during the ride to try to make it interactive. It was boring. (A nice touch would be to use actual monitors/digital screens) and display like snow or something to make it feel like we're being transported through a portal- which is the vibe they were *trying* to portray. Then you get dropped off at the "North Pole" which is basically a group of small warehouses you get shuttled like cattle through, room to room. Too many people in the room- all the adults end up just standing around in the back to let all the kids try to get front row view, but basically the elf workers just talk and talk- so yeah if your kid doesn't know how to listen and pay attention they will be bored because there's not much activity that goes on in each room. You do not get the independence to explore and do your own thing. The rooms are decorated beautifully- but there's no opportunity to take nice photos with you or the kids because it's so crowded, and you spend about maybe 10 minutes max in each room. My kids don't even get enough time to register what is going on, all confused and hesitant to participate when the elves start directing them to get in line or to do something, before we get shuffled to the next room. For $68 per person- you get a SIP of hot chocolate, a few tiny sugar donuts (which were only offered to the kids), a nice photo with Santa, and the kids each get to keep a souvenir teddy bear. I feel like it could be so much more. It has potential. But it's obviously made to be a money making gig. It would be nice to be able to have more professional photo opportunities included as the rooms were decorated so beautifully. But there just wasn't much for my kids to actually explore or play with. You spend about 3 minutes with Santa. At least the Santa photo came out nice, but wasn't worth $260. Overall, disappointed, not sure if I would do this again. Don't think I would be recommending it to anyone. For what we got, the price of the tickets shouldn't be more than $20-25 per person. read more

Took my 4.5 year old for the 1st time Dec 16th. We had an OK experience with it. My son was very excited to go and once we actually got inside of the rooms, he was scared and didn't really like it. There are SO many kids and everyone is pushing each other around. At one point, a kid started a fight with my son. And the parent, nowhere to be found. Overall, the experience felt dark and rushed to me. Yes, it was decorated to the rim with trains, presents, toys, and all things Christmas. So, it was fun to take photos. The few "Elves" that were around did try to interact with the kids, but I felt that they were just rushed or not really happy as they appeared to be. I felt my son felt that too. I was confused at one of the stations, they have the kids dress up bears and then see if the bear passes a test. Then they take the bear. Like, why don't they just give the kid the bear they just dressed? My kid was so disappointed he just dressed up a bear and didn't get to keep it. They do give a bear at the end, which was cute. But, I think they could improve on this. It was fun to go, but we honestly had more fun at Bearizona and outside in the snow. read more

We loved our adventure to the North Pole! North Pole Express (NPE) does an amazing job of pulling of a magical Christmas Adventure! But remember you have to play along too! I know a lot of families want to wear matching PJ's etc, but we did that for the Polar Express (where like that story where the kids are picked up by Santa's magical train). For the NPE we were driving in from California, and our visit included an overnight stay at Little America Hotel ((which has recently remodeled the rooms and was an amazing stay). We pulled into Flagstaff, got something to eat and waited until just after sunset to make the arrival to the lit up hotel! (Driving up to the hotel with all the Christmas lights a glow is pretty awesome). We asked the front desk to call our room and ask for our Little (8 year old by name) and tell her "the weather at the north pole and that Santa was waiting for her 7:20 departure and to meet in the lobby 30 minutes before hand". After the room call we all "wondered" what that meant, so we told her our warm beanie hats, gloves and our best Christmas gear was in order! Not "knowing" what this would entail! So as Worked like a charm! When we went down we followed the signs and checked in for our departure!!!!! How on earth were we traveling to the North Pole? As soon as you board the "Santa Trolley" the story begins how these Trolley 5000's safety videos will travel through a portal right to the North Pole! The expedition was amazing, well choreographed through Santa's toy shop, Wrapping Room, Mail Room, Ed University and a visit to Santa himself!!!! 1. Play along with the experience! Be the biggest kid at heart! 2. Book an evening trip (the experience is so much better by comparison to day reviews! 3. We plotted our story to dress in our warm Christmas Clothes since you're visiting the North Pole!!! Hats and mittens, and a lovely Christmas Sweater! 4.. If you opt to buy a Christmas Ornament in the gift shop, you'll have to try to wrangle the elves for signatures, assign a parent. (Tip: you could also bring you're own plastic Christmas ornament to be signed by sharpee which if you have a few kids save some dough). The gift shop is small and gets packed before departing, be prepared! 4. Pack some hot chocolate mix and marshmallows with candy cane stirs if you're staying at the hotel to end the night talking about your kids favorite part! 5. if staying at the hotel (or any hotel ask the front desk to play along). Again since we stayed at the little America Hotel, our stay included a breakfast with Santa in morning, so we asked the front desk for a "wake up call that said you've been invited as a special guest to breakfast downstairs at 9 am).... Well Ho Ho Ho guess who invited us? The man, the myth the legend Santa himself!!!! Which made our stay even better! We did this experience as part of a week end of Santa fun !! They did a very nice job setting up different rooms with things to do from dressing teddy bears in clothing (toy making experience) to writing letters to Santa to taking pictures with Santa. I think the perfect age group for this adventure would be the 5-8 year olds. We had 0-3 year olds and they were distracted most of the time. This was our 4th year doing NPX and the first year we went during daylight hours. Tip: book your tickets around May and you get a pretty good discount. Unfortunately, this year I didn't purchase tickets until later and had to pay full price. I don't necessarily think it's worth full price but my daughter wanted to go again. This year it seemed they were rushing each room as we finished in 1 1/2 hours unlike the usual 2. The positive thing this year is, us adults finally got the treats from Mrs Claus. Usually we skipped and it's not right when you pay that much. At least don't deny us the goodies! This year it was Yet Os(mini fried doughnuts) and snowman soup(hot chocolate). They also finally started giving out teddy bears to the kids at the end. They used to get nothing. At the hotel it's pretty well organized and easy to follow the directions. There's a big screen with the time to line up and time to board the trolly. They sell little ornaments in the gift shop if you want Santa and the elves to sign it. At the North Pole you get to visit numerous rooms and finally end by seeing sant and getting a picture that's included. Night time is probably more fun for little kids because of the lights but my older kiddo didn't really care this year...been there, done that. My favorite part is probably when Mrs Claus and the elves dance around the kitchen. Least favorite part is being crammed in close quarters with a bunch of strangers. read more

This was a fantastic family experience! If I had it to do over again, I would wait until my boys were at least 5. They just turned 4. I think it would be more meaningful to them then. We drove all the way from Orange County, CA and had booked a hotel for a couple of nights in the Flagstaff area. My boys had a little bug heading up and once there (with the elevation) it got much worse. I think if they had been feeling 100% it would have been much more enjoyable. All the NPE staff were extremely friendly and gave it their all. I liked that there were seatbelts on the magical bus which transports you to the North Pole. I'm not sure how long NPE has been around but Santa's workshop seemed a little dated and could have used a little modernizing and pizazz. The best part of the NPE was meeting Santa. I love how you get private time with him without the other guests waiting behind you. The Santa himself was amazing! Looked and played the part well.
