I gave my underage friend ice from my cup that was empty to cool down and was dragged out by security and rudely yelled at outside. Staff is friendly, served us right away and were super nice. We just saw Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness last week and the sound/stage were PERFECT!!! Historic venue and friendly attendants. Didn't like that the smoking area was right off the auditorium with the door cracked open, causing the smoke to drift inside the whole time; I also think I've seen the men's restrooms in my nightmares, LOL. An interesting space in Flagstaff for live comedy. We arrived on a Saturday night to watch three comedians and the place was full. The three comedians were raunchy and entertaining. The headliner, whose name I forget, was good. I think he was using the altitude of Flagstaff as a prop for his large stomach and he used it to full effect. The audience was a mixture of young and old. A fun and entertaining way to spend an hour or so. Not sure how many different ways this venue is used. read more

They kicked us out before the headliner of the concert even started because me and my friend were in the same stall together in the women's bathroom, we were using our basic human rights and peeing in the bathroom! when we walked out of the bathroom, only used the stall for 2 minutes or less by the way, we got kicked out by the head of security. So embarrassing for the orpheum. Couldn't even listen to our explanation of women's using the bathroom together for safety and basically told us we were a joke. No refund, no sympathy. Fuck the orpheum. I'm never buying another ticket here again. I have a prebought ticket for a concert in a month and i'm not going or reselling cause they don't deserve the audience. I've been to a multitude of events at The Orpheum- performance art acts, NAU university activities, Adult Prom two years in a row, and handfuls of concerts, whether it be smaller, local bands or HUGE bands such as Modest Mouse and Tegan and Sara. Overall, I think it's a great venue, but a few improvements would make it incredible. Pros: intimate space gives you the ability to get close with the acts that you love, good sound system, cool rafter seats, you can sit or stand depending on preference, cool atmosphere and historic space. Cons: can get super hot in the venue, especially in the summertime, bar is pricey (but what concert venue isn't?) and can have long wait times. I love the downtown location and the fact that you can walk to a myriad of restaurants or bars before or after a performance. Thank you, Orpheum, for great memories! read more

Dishonest about ticket prices. Signs outside the door for their Pride After Party stated a $15 cover charge. The cover was actually $18. I paid with cash and pointed out that it's pretty misleading to have the sign advertise the wrong ticket price. The person at the box office said it was fees for printing tickets and taxes. So it's not a cover it's a ticket fee. They really should be more honest about their ticket prices. read more

The overall 3.2 rating of this place is well deserved. That place itself, location, layout, and ambiance are actually great. The issue is the staff and their attitude about their patrons. They seem to think they are doing you a favor by serving you. I personally value good customer service and I am willing to pay for it. They couldn't or wouldn't deliver, so beware. If the event is very promising, I would say go, but don't expect good customer service and keep your guard for bad employee interactions. read more

Amazing historic Flagstaff Venue! Have seen lots of great music there, been to a few celebrations of life held there, and saw Ted Dansen and Mary Steenburgen there years ago and Ted had some great stories about growing up in Flagstaff and going to the Orpheum as a kid. Highly recommend! read more

Elevation Fest was help at the Orpheum this past weekend; I'd never been there, but I was hired to photograph the music festival so we drove up for the weekend. This is the historic playhouse in the city, so you expect some things to be out of date. The outside looked great, and then I went in. The front had a large standing only area with lots of rows of theatre seats behind it. Then an area behind it where there were tables and chairs to get drinks and the bars or eat. I was immediately impressed by this place and loved it. (There's also a mezzanine, but it was closed for my event). There's lots of room for people to move about and enjoy the shows, but we had a credit card on file and we overcharged. They didn't want to hear it when we explained it, though. $6.00 for a beer I know is half that price down at Albertson's sucks. Anyway, back to the venue. The sound wasn't great. Three early bands sounded ok, but if you talked to a friend in the audience EVERYONE could hear. Then the fourth band sounded terrible. The lead vocals were way too loud, and I am not a sound snob. It hurt my ears to listen. Later bands sounded ok. Overall I liked the place and security took care of the people who were drunken idiots and let the people running the show do their job. There doesn't seem to be an AC (it was in the 70s and all the doors were open; it had rained and was quite muggy). Enjoyed myself overall though. read more

These are just a couple of the absolute worst security guards that Orpheum hired for the Hippie Sabotage show. These security guards decided that making fun of a girl for wearing "too short" of shorts was okay. They stood there and said "How could she be comfortable wearing that? That's horrible." The older one (pictured) got physically aroused by one of the girls dancing up front and crouched over and "adjusted" himself. How unfortunate that some of the sixteen year old girls here are being looked at in such a vulgar way. They are on an actual witch-hunt to find anyone breaking their "rules". Really unfortunate that this show was ruined by them! Also, apparently you're not allowed to take ANY videos of the sets, which completely hinders the bands ability to promote. read more

If you actually want to listen to music and the performers, forget about it at the Orpheum. The business has tolerated and indulged the awful behavior of attendees since first opening its doors years ago. Nothing but loud and obnoxious talkers, who, quite literally, talk during entire performances in the bar and rail area, and in any standing area. If you are sitting in an actual seat you will hear the noise. No escape from chatter in this venue. At the recent Todd Snider show, after close to half an hour of people talking nonstop behind me, I finally asked them to move their conversation elsewhere. They were shocked that I said such a thing to them, but moved nonetheless. The man talking to the woman returned to his seat in the front row! A seat that until then could have been used by someone else! The people next to me had come from Prescott for the show and bought me a beer to say thank you for asking the talkers to move. They were astounded at how bad the venue was for people who actually wanted to hear the show and were amazed at how many people were just talking. I've witnessed performers (specifically, the late JJ Cale) react to the noise here unfavorably and with my similar amazement but also annoyance that their show is being treated like that of a coffeehouse performance where people, couldn't care less. Remember the scene in Annie Hall, where she is singing and all of the noise happening around her? This is what a show is like at the Orpheum. The business does not like criticism. Unfavorable things said on their Facebook page are deleted and blocking occurs, and therefore exclusion from ticket giveaways and from posting anything. Another very bad business practice that demonstrates pettiness and lack of ethics. I used to be able to tolerate it, now I dread any show that comes here that I really want to see because it's a huge waste of money trying to actually listen and hear nothing but the noise from the bar and the talkers who have spent their money on a ticket that turns into social hour. I am a huge supporter of local businesses, but this venue is garbage for serious music lovers. I'm so glad that there are other options in the area. read more

What a great place to see a show. Being from Phoenix, this venue is a sigh of fresh air. The sound is wonderful and the drinks are dirt cheap. We don't get that privilege in Phoenix. This venue could be so much better, there is so much potential. The venue location and stage set up is all good (seating vs. standing by the stage). The sound system is not great and really when you come to see a performance you expect a great sound system. Came to see Ryan Bingham - November 2015 and during the show you can tell one of the speakers blew out. The sound system was horrible. I know the night before he was at the Belly up in Solana Beach and I'm sure there was no comparison. The bar area was a total disaster. Only 2-3 bartenders, the line to the bar was a good 20-30 minute wait. So...ridiculous. Please note the bartenders were friendly and at the end of the evening overwhelm. So that is all on the management of Orpheum. Parking is very challenging. There is no valet or anyplace close to park. Unless you live in Flagstaff and know where to park it was not easy. For the ticket price I paid to see Ryan Bingham and the $$ spent to come from Phx to Flagstaff ....you will not see me back at the Orpheum. I feel sorry for the Flagstaff peeps that do not have that many options for concert venue when the Orpheum really has quite a bit potential. My opinion they need....New Management! read more

Although the venue seems to be beautiful that doesn't at all speak for the poor customer service given out by the management team. I really believe customer service is key in a business. This particular venue just didn't hit that expectation. I'll explain I would have loved to order a round of drinks for some friends in a band performing at this specific venue tonight. First night on tour and thought thats the least I could do. Not being able to attend the out of state event. I called early AM and spoke to one manager who had advised me to call back once the venue opens. Come the evening and I call back to be told by another manager that she doesn't have time for that. An if I could coordinate it with someone from the band. The voice in my head went off "Excuse me" the point was to be a surprise. I remained professional said thank you and hung up. Didn't realize my nephew and niece would need ID when with their legal guardian, asked security if there's any way they can get in they tell me to wait for a manager. While waiting all three security members allow two young girls about the same age as my nephew and niece through without ID. Manager gets there and refuses us entry. Thanks for teaching my nephew and niece that doing the right thing gets them nowhere! Once my wife and I got back from dropping them off at home we made it just in time for the show. Ratatat was amazing and hot sugar(opening act) was pretty cool too. The whole beginning to the night kinda ruined it though. I'll try again at some point and hopefully have a better review. - edit- Although the night kinda sucked they refunded all four tickets instead of just two which was nice. read more

I love the overall ambience of the Orpheum and the sound for music venues is overall pretty good. I LOVE the bar area! There are a few details that should be addressed to improve the overall experience for guests: #1: The bathrooms in the front lobby can be overwhelming when you first walk in [especially if they've been used pretty hard for the evening] the toilet fresheners don't really help. The bathrooms didn't seem to get much attention throughout the night. #2: The layout under-serves the venue. Although theatre seats seem to make the most sense, I feel you could update things without losing the vintage appeal the theatre offers by removing the movie viewing style seats and replacing them with retro style couches, chairs and tables in deep reds, purples... I particularly noticed that during music venues a great portion of the theatre style seats [in the middle rows] were avoided....people sat in more of a donut shape, access was awkward and not conducive to use. I think you might gain more customers by changing that : ) #3 What is with the balcony? Such a cool space but doesn't seem utilized. read more

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of seeing Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers here in concert. It was a hell of a show by the band, and the venue should get some props also. It was a crowded house, but there was still enough room to move around and not push into people or feel claustrophobic. The sound in the theatre was terrific, and not too loud where it becomes distorted. The bartenders were on top of their game, getting customers in and out as fast as humanly possible. Plus they were friendly and not stingy with the booze. Overall, a great experience. I will not hesitate to watch a show at this venue the next time I'm in town. read more

Saw Borgore here in the Spring of 2012 and was thoroughly impressed by the venue. Sound was wonderful and the small size of the club allowed for a certain level of intimacy with the band/artist. I paid $67 for a row 7 seat which turned out to be a very narrow very short seated folding chair. Two rows behind me in the "cheap seats" they were regular theater seats. I just had surgery yesterday and it was horribly uncomfortable. Then they argued for two minutes with the woman next to me who was taking a photo without flash saying she was recording which she wasn't and really messed with my enjoyment of the show. She was so upset by it, she left. Arlo Guthrie was amazing, but I won't go to the Orpheum again. read more

Don't come here, the workers didn't care to accommodate my friend and I. We are very new to flagstaff visiting out of state and wanted to watch a movie, and they said that their policy is no backpacks. I looked all over their building, I even went on their website to see if this was an actual policy, but it wasn't stated anywhere. I tried to offer him to look through my back pack but he refused and told me the only option was the leave my backpack outside to watch a movie. Fantastic venue for shows. Staff was very friendly. I had called and emailed before we purchased tickets as it was advertised an all ages show. We were able to take our 2 small children and had a great time and all questions were answered well beforehand so we knew what to expect. read more
