There's a reason that many people call this the best meat raffle in Minnesota. I love a good meat…read moreraffle, even though I'm a vegetarian. It's fun to play and I just give the prizes to one of my friends. The Jenkins VFW meat raffle truly is one of the best out there. For starters, all the meat comes from the butcher in Emily, Minnesota, which I have been assured is the best out there. I don't know. I don't eat meat. This meat raffle has a very precise set of rules. You have to buy the tickets at the right time. You have to line up in the order the numbers are called. And above all else, you are not allowed to touch the meat. I repeat, do not touch the meat. They will wrap it up in a bag for you after you claim it and when you bring it back to your table then you can touch it if you still choose. One of the really cool things about this meat raffle is that they do it in multiple rounds. The first couple rounds are packs of meat worth seven dollars. The next is $10. And then it escalates to $15. Regardless of the value of the meat, each ticket is still only one dollar. It's a ton of fun. The the bar is spacious. They have both live and video pool tabs to play in between rounds of the meat raffle. This is just such an awesome place to hang out. The weight staff is excellent and super friendly. They have a decent selection of beverages and make a good bloody Mary. The kitchen is open at four and there's often community events going on. This is an excellent VFW and I encourage you to visit.

I'm giving this a 5 star because it's about the best version of a VFW/American Legion in the area…read more First off, I love their meat raffle that is very generous AND has high quality meat. Second off, their Wing night on Tuesday is great. The wings are cheap, crispy and very tasty. Beyond that they have friendly staff, stiff drink and decent things like burgers. You should to here. It's far from gourmet but still amazing.

We have visited the Brainerd/Nisswa area for decades but only last year did we finally get a place…read moreof our own in Lake Shore (yay!) - so instead of hitting our five usual places that we went to on our one precious week each summer (Rafferty's, Zorbaz, Ernie's, Bar Harbor & Quarterdeck), now that we have more time here in the summer, we are branching out and trying some new places, Lucky's among them, and I'm so glad we are! This place was great - super friendly service, reasonable prices, big portions, AND tasty food! Nothing flashy, but everything we tried was good. We had cheese curds and fried green beans to start, my son got shepherd's pie, and my husband and I both got fish & chips, and we got a little two pack of monster cookies to go for dessert (yum) - we would definitely return here!

Food 5/5: the outside of this place gives dive bar vibes, but the food absolutely wow'd us. We got pretzels and the fried green beans for appetizers, both were very good. It was a cooler summer day, so many of us opted for the comfort food. I got the chicken and it was spiced absolutely perfectly. The rice was done to perfection, the chunks of chicken complimented by the sauce. I would absolutely go back for just that. They have a great menu selection and great kid meal options. Service 5/5: our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She took our order quickly and the food also came quickly. Ambiance 5/5: like I said earlier, this place gives dive bar vibes from the outside. The inside is definitely more elevated. Plenty of room and seating with a great patio for nice days.

What a fun Zorbaz!! Easily one of my favorite locations with 3 bars (upper, lower, and outside)!…read moreThere's soo much space here & always the great options for food. Our large group was able to find a spot EASILY on a friday night. It turns into a PARTY after 10, many of them being bachelorettes. I loved the vibe in here & always with the amazing staff! Cant wait to come back.

We had a bigger group and got a mix of pizza, chips and salsa/guacamole, tacos, burritos, and chicken bowls. Overall the food tasted good, well spiced and balanced. The bartenders were helpful and mostly friendly. We have been coming to this location for years and feel like it is becoming rundown. A few things we noticed: -limes and lemons at the outdoor bar were brown and either had been out for days or the heat was making them go bad -the bathrooms smell like puke/other potty smells and the floor is consistently sticky everywhere -we all had belly aches after we ate, with some people having more issues than others -we sat at the composite picnic tables and they almost burned our skin Overall this is a fun place to stop for drinks and entertainment, but be warned about food quality and potential other sanitary concerns. This place could overall use a good thorough clean and benefit from more umbrellas to shade the composite tables to avoid burning skin.
