I had a deep tissue by Alyson and WOW -- she's definitely strong and will get deep in the tissues. What's also unique is she offered me to pick a scented oil, lavender vs rose. Would like to begin by recognizing the kindness of all staff members during my visit :) I chose to visit this location due to its recent high ratings. Possibly it could've been a bad day for my particular masseuse as the massage service itself was poorly performed and did not reflect any Swedish massages I have ever experienced. I was in hopes the altered experience may result in an unexpected outcome... unfortunately it did not (me utilizing positive skepticism) The Now Swedish massage consisted mainly of stationary applied elbow pressure. Little to no use of hand manipulation and or movement. And majority of time spent literally elbowing my arms :( During the initial intake you are questioned regarding preference and key areas to focus. The identified lumbar region for myself was completely skipped over during the massage. Hence I'm not sure the advantage of the initial intake conversation. All in all I'm sure there may be other masseuse's at this location that may deliver great service. It's unfortunate this was my initial experience. read more

The NOW massage "parlor" is located near the livery. Found them on yelp, visited because of a stiff and painful neck issue. I selected the NOW signature massage, with heated crystals (2) and gua sha add on. My massage therapist was kind and did her best to help alleviate my symptoms. Hard to do effectively in 50 minutes. I appreciate her efforts. The massage was okay, it wasn't what I'm used to. The total for today's visit with tip was $200ish. I don't think this business and their services are on par for that price point. I wouldn't suggest the add ons, I was disappointed with the gua sha work. I appreciate their front desk specialist removing the charge. The business seems clean enough, and looks like a nice addition for a quick massage for the locals. I was really hoping to enjoy this place. The online booking system wouldn't let me book without adding enhancements, so I selected stretching and gua sha. When I arrived, parking was easy, the location was convenient, the front desk staff were very kind and welcoming, and the spa itself was beautifully decorated. Before my session, I specifically asked if my massage therapist was experienced with deep tissue massage because that's what I was looking for. She is 21 year experienced. I also asked her to focus only on my neck, shoulders, and back. The first thing she told me was that her background was primarily in Swedish massage, but she assured me I would leave feeling relieved. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. A significant amount of time was spent massaging my hands and arms, despite my request to focus on my upper back and neck. At one point she leaned over and whispered, "Oops, I thought I had you for 80 minutes." She then quickly applied oil to my back, had me turn over, placed an eye mask on me (another enhancement), and the session ended. The appointment felt rushed and I left without any relief. At checkout, I was charged $175 for the massage plus the stretching and gua sha enhancements. The problem is that neither the stretching nor the gua sha was ever performed. I questioned the charges, and the front desk agreed something wasn't right. They left my invoice open and told me the manager would contact me. It's now been a week, and I've still heard nothing. I still tipped my massage therapist for her time because I believe in tipping service providers, but the overall experience was disappointing. My biggest concerns were being charged for services I never received, not feeling listened to, and the complete lack of follow-up from management. I was genuinely hoping to find a massage practice I could return to regularly, but unfortunately, this experience ensured I won't be back. read more

Wonderful experience with Noreen -- I had an 80-minute Deep Tissue Stretch Massage with a scalp massage, and she did an excellent job working on my entire body with extra focus on my neck, shoulders, lower back, quads, and calves. The massage was both effective and relaxing, and the stretch session at the end was especially helpful. I was looking for a place to get a massage that's more upscale than the more tired "spas" in the San Ramon/Danville area, and found The NOW in an online search. The location in The Danville Livery is exactly what I was looking for. It's designed in a modern, fresh, and clean/luxury way that feels goooooooood. The welcome receptionist was friendly, and my masseuse, Darryl, was great (the multiple knots I had going in were gone after), and he gave me an extra 5 minutes to address my tight back- thank you! I was skeptical that the open space massage area concept would feel less private and I'd be able to hear a lot around (like a thiai studio I visited in San Ramon). But that was not an issue. They cleverly have incorporated sound wave machines to block out noice and it enhanced the overall experience. Needless to say, I joined as a member when my massage was finished and am excited to visit every month. Shout out to your brand marketing team. pilar did an amazing job. she kept focus on the areas i requested and was more than informative, kind, sweet and very accommodating. her technique was one of the best i've experienced and she helped soothed any tensed areas without ever making me feel uncomfortable. before we started she made sure to test my preferred firmness by demonstrating on my shoulders how deep to go, which no masseuse has ever done. she did everything very smoothly as i dosed off drooling into pure relaxation. the only issue i had was booking 50minutes and not a longer session as i didn't want to leave hahah pilar was amazing!! ‍ read more

Great therapists but the "room" situation fell short of expectations. I've come from other massage places where you had your own room. While the rooms were small and walls thin, they were private. There are times I would want a deep tissue and boy those can be painful - so much I'd make some noise. With the "room" situation here just don't see that as a viable option. Came in for massages with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law last week and had an overall great experience! They offered us spa water and were really helpful in explaining the add-ons and process. The masseuses were great about asking us what areas needed to be worked on and pressure preferences. The massages happen in little curtained off rooms, so you can hear people a little bit moving around outside but overall a very calming and serene massage environment. The location is convenient and easy to get to from my town, the spot is cozy and clean, and the rooms are ambient (they play ocean waves for white noise + low lighting). The bed was heated and was very much appreciated tonight since I spent the morning gardening and I was more sore than usual this morning. Anyway, I got paired with Jessica and she was fantastic. I asked for deep tissue and I ended up asking for a tiny scale back from the pressure... that hasn't ever happened with any massages I've had -- The Now or elsewhere! Love it.
