Well where do I start? My 3-day trip to O Spa 'Resort' was my 4th trip. And probably my last. I did 3 day passes since Coachella rates were $450 a night. I arrived on Friday to a cold main pool (i wish I'd measured the temp) and the overflow drain was plugged and backing up into the pool. Crud was flowing into the pool. So a cold dirty pool. Ok. You see, I'm a hot springs nerd and this is why I go to O Spa. For the water. Clean unchlorinated water. Upon then investigating the lower shallow pool, all the fresh hot water was on full blast in that pool and going to drain and down the hill. All that hot water SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE MAIN POOL. So I spoke with Marcos the new manager about it and he's awesome. I told him about the fresh water pipe that used to flow into the main pool and its valve which was now cut off by a saw. Why? So I get why they didn't want more water going into the pool as it will literally overflow if the drain is clogged. Ok, I convinced him to pump out the overflow drain (I went to my van to retrieve a pump... who brings a pump to a resort? ME! I told you I'm a hot springs nerd). By the time I had come back, Marcos had connected a length of pipe to the hot source! Awesome ! Let's pump this cold nasty water out and fill with CLEAN. NOPE! Rick the owner intercepted my idea and was scolding Marcos when I came back with the pump in hand. 'Why is he holding a pump?' I overheard him ask. TO FIX THE PROBLEM! I retreated to my lounge chair without saying a word and began thinking I should forfeit my 3 days of money and go to Mi Kasa or any number of other hot springs on that Miracle Hill. But no, I stuck it out. So now they are filtering this stagnant water and heating it. While you have FREE HOT FRESH WATER FROM THE EARTH! This is not why I came... to swim in cold chlorinated water. Ok so by Sunday the pool had finally heated to 92 degrees (yes I measured it because I'm a hot springs nerd) and it was decent enough. I didn't put my head under water tho. Nope. But with this method of heating, the other two pools got out of whack. The grotto pool was a nice 97 degrees Friday where many of us watched Coachella together (thanks to me also bringing a 2.1 sound system and an iPad) , but then Saturday night, it was 102 degrees and you couldn't just stay in for hours. Why? Because the main pool overflow drain! Fix that! You have to! Is that even legal? Seriously, what does the Riverside County Health Department think about that? I'm going to inquire. Fill the pool with fresh hot water and let it drain. Let it flow. I am one of the few people that use and even know how to fill the stand-alone bathtub. It's awesome to drink morning coffee in your own tub in the chilly desert air. But again, you have to turn off the lower tub valve to provide pressure to the bathtub. And if you close it all the way? The whole system crashes and then there is zero water. PUT SOME SIGNS UP! Also, you have to bring your own bathtub drain plug. They can't provide a bathtub drain plug? So the bathtub is useless unless you're a nerd like me. Ok, now let's talk about ice. People have to leave the resort and drive into town to get ice for their drinks? Are you serious? The rooms were $450 a night (Coachella rates) but you can't provide ICE?! The Vevor icemaker they have looks ancient and the display was glitching out. GET A NEW ONE. From my quick math with Coachella and Stagecoach rates, that place hauled in $60,000 just in April ! Not including mine and others day fees! Fix that overflow drain and fix that ice maker! Buy a new one! So instead of relaxing for three days like I wanted to, I spent most of it dealing with cold pools or too-hot hot pools. We had fun thanks to my speakers and Coachella. But it's like camping there. It isn't a 'resort'. It's a campground. Gotta bring your own ice and your own bathtub plug. I've tried to help and had a way to fix the problem but was met with glares and anger. Go buy a pump! They aren't expensive. This isn't rocket science guys. I'm a former mechanical engineer who thrived in thermodynamics and am a hot springs junkie. I'll go elsewhere where the water is clean and not chlorinated. It's a hot springs after all isn't it? FIX. THAT. OVERFLOW. DRAIN. Then we can talk. And maybe I'll come back and bring my money. read more

A lot of single guys, so if you are a couple just be aware Owner seems bipolar . Nice one minute , a complete narcissist the next He takes has pride in how he decorated the rooms and the music he decides to play for the guest If you take a radio and our playing any music type he does not like he will flip out , and I'm not talking about hard-core rap. I'm just talking about regular 90s or pop music.. we were there having a great time with other guests. He ripped our radio out of the wall. And started going off. Then within 10 minutes everybody just went to the rooms. Some people checked out. He actually pushed My wife.. needless to say we left. He is a total loose cannon narcissist. The place itself is nice. And we would like to go back. But won't until there's new ownership due to safety concerns. read more

The Spa staff were both friendly and courteous. Our stay there was very enjoyable. The pool and spas were filled with refreshing dessert hot springs. Strong 4.5! When I travel, I tend to research the hell out of every location that fits my travel criteria. This was the first time we've stayed at an adults only hotel and after this stay, I'm SOLD. I can't tell you how many romantic trips have been ruined by other people's unruly children. ((Heavy eye roll)) I have 4 of my own that I'm tryin to get AWAY from!! I don't wanna be bothered with anyone else's! This place was heaven. I didn't have the pleasure to meet the host, but spoke briefly as he walked me into the lobby lounge, by phone, from the front door. Check-in was simple. I appreciated that. We had room 7 and it was THE PERFECT spot for us! The room accommodates 4, but I liked the sofa option cuz I like options! The room was CUTE!! Had a kitchenette with fridge and microwave, coffee maker and stainless steel sink. The sofa turns into a bed, but like I said, OPTIONS! The sofa was comfortable as hell! The pillows were amazing! They even provide a black face towel for makeup removal! *Nice touch* The best sleep I've had in weeks! *chef's kiss* The grounds! We got there just after dark but still walked around to check out the lay of the land. The pool was too cold and we happened to be there during some insane winds...but let me tell you about the indoor/outdoor mineral pool!! Whew! I think he said it was like 104°... it was AMAZING! We pretty much spent most of our evenings in there alone (for the most part). We got there on a Sunday and pretty much had the place to ourselves except for like 2 other couples. And we barely saw them in passing. This is a 420 friendly property and topless swimming or sunbathing is acceptable. I just really liked the vibe. I liked the silence and privacy. The lounge is super cute and I love the idea that the whole place can be rented out. I'd definitely come back and my husband was pleased with my choice. So it was a win-win! read more

Saw an ad for this place, it says it's in Palm Springs. So I found their website and went to book a room. My bad for not confirming their address but their website is TERRIBLE and takes you to another website to book the room. I was driving towards Palm Springs and went to try and find their address and had to go to the day pass page to even find it. And they're not in Palm Springs. They're in desert hot springs. Ewww. No one wants to stay in desert hot springs. I called the hotel as soon as I saw this to cancel and the receptionist told me she wasn't authorized to process a return but they the manager/owner Rick would give me a call back. I mentioned to her that even if I had to pay a penalty fee or whatever it was fine but I wasn't going to be staying there so I needed a refund. Rick never called. I called her back a few times and she finally gave me his direct number and told me that he was expecting my call and I called Rick several times for several hours and he refused to answer the phone. He never called me back. What a terrible way to run a business. I can't believe they're still in business. I called back today, Monday now, and he still didn't answer so I called the hotel number again and the receptionist told me she'd let him know and he would call me back. Rick finally called, to let me know that he's off on weekends so wasn't planning on answering the phone or speaking with me. That's how he runs his business. So he couldn't tell the reception that on Saturday? He told her and she told me that I would hear from him even tho that was never his intention. Pretty fucking shady and unprofessional. But clearly that's what Rick and this place is. Never checked in, never stayed there but was charged the full price. So Rick needs to steal your money when you're not going to stay because he can't get anyone to book his hotel. Good job Rick. Hope my $236 keeps you in business. read more

There was no one on site. You get a code to get in and figure things out yourself. They allow dogs on the property so there's poop all over. We also had two dogs come into our room which luckily they didn't bite us or anything. The room is ok, could have been a little cleaner. A DJ came and set up and we left for the night. When we came back around 10pm the DJ was gone, the music was on full blast and there was literally nobody there. The music stayed on full blast all night and we couldn't sleep. Around 2am my husband finally went out and figured out how to turn the music down. Who sets up music for literally no one and leave it running all night with nobody there? Then at 9am the next day, guess who came back? The DJ, turned the music on full blast again, at 9am?!?? This place could be nice, has potential but they need to clean things up, don't allow dogs on the property and have staff that can actually assist someone. Very disappointed for the price. read more

Ughh... kind of a mixed review. Here we go. First of all, we booked a king room (the Bauhaus) for my birthday and checked in to find 2 beds. I messaged with the staff and they said they couldn't move us as they were all booked and the website was "supposed to have been" updated. We had booked months earlier and it still wasn't updated right then while we were there. And, even crazier, it still isn't updated now, a month later. So, they don't care. The room wasn't clean. We found a cockroach in the closet. We found a roach (the cigar kind) near the bed. The lamp didn't even have a bulb in it. There were no hooks in the bathroom to hang a towel to dry. No shelves in the shower or bathroom for your toiletries. There were 2 fridges in the kitchen (Why? Because they knew one didn't work?) and one leaked all over the floor. When we were at the pool, we saw housekeeping and they asked if we needed service. We replied no thanks, but we needed more towels, seeing as how we had used our towels to clean up the kitchen floor. The towels never came. The second day, I couldn't get over how hot our room was. It was hot outside, so I initially debated maybe the AC was trying the best it could. We spent the day in the lobby common area, watching TV on our iPads, and then went back to find our room hotter than outside (and it was around 100 outside.) My husband called the manager who argued, no, the AC must be working, it was just serviced, and talked to us as if we didn't know how to work the AC. (There were like 2 buttons, up and down.) We were trying to figure out whether we would need to find another hotel or what, and were due to go out for my birthday celebration. The property manager said he'd be there in 15 minutes. I didn't want a situation where we were moving to a different hotel at 11 pm if they couldn't figure out the AC but we also didn't have a lot of time to wait around. I waited a half hour, according to my call log, and he still arrived. I called and he said "Your husband literally called 5 minutes ago and I said I was 15 minutes away. I'm not on site, you need to give me time to get there." No, it had been 30 minutes, and we were heading out for the evening so I figured we needed to resolve it then, rather than late at night. He came in and right away said "The AC isn't working." Yeah, I know. Thankfully, they had another room available now, so we hurried to move to another room, making trips back and forth in the heat, making us late for my birthday celebration. The other room, the Audrey, wasn't as nice, and probably should have been cheaper, but it was fine for an evening and at least it had air conditioning. The pool area was beautiful. We got to use a daybed (a compromise for not having a king bed) and I loved floating in the pool. The hotel is dog friendly, and there was dog poop around the pool, which is what happens when dog owners are having a good time in the pool and not keeping an eye on their pet, unfortunately. The grounds are lovely and there are multiples pools. This place has a lot of potential but I don't think the management cares to improve it much. read more

Me and my wife visited this place during late September, unfortunately it thunder stormed and day time we were pretty much only ones there. We still had a good time and I liked the grounds. Once it stopped a few more showed up and it became a fun time. Weather was much better at night and the place is actually larger than I expected and they are constantly updating it. We usually stay at Mi Kasa, but this was a nice alternative. I really liked the larger spa they had that was enclosed. Rooms were clean and the staff was attentive when I needed something by just texting them. The manager Rick is on site and will accommodate guests. My gf and I needed an escape from LA after 6 months of nonstop work and post op battles. She found the O Spa and I am so glad she did. Everything that we planned on doing was either 20-30 minutes away which is ok with me as I am used to driving those distances in LA on the daily. Pros: First and foremost, Ana was a super star! She greeted my gf and I with a lot of positive energy. She also was very informative in regards of the hotel layout, rules and her recommendations around the area. Any question we had, she had a prompt response. Ana is a gem! Please take care of her! Amazing location. It's far away from all the light pollution and has a small town vibe to it. Yes, some cars would speed in the background every now and then, but the location was tranquil overall! There are 3 separate pools that are heated 24/7 and we took advantage of that! Our favorite was definitely the indoor pool and we took a dip in there multiple times through the day and night! The vibes were always nice! They are alcohol friendly and 420 friendly throughout the premises. Don't smoke in the rooms and you'll be fine! They also have multiple fire pits! I would recommend bringing starter fluid or fire starters if you want to take advantage of the fire pits! If you want to grill, they have two grills on site! Every single individual that I ran into was very nice. Additionally, they are pet friendly! Cons: When booking, the rooms looked bigger than they actually were. I would recommend double checking they size of the rooms before booking. If you're a minimalist, the rooms won't bug you. I was at the Madonna and the bed was super low and extremely squeaky. The furniture was also extremely low. With my gf being post op, we sat outside throughout the hotel rather than our room. We really enjoyed our retreat at the O Spa. Some serious R&R was much needed, and provided, ala Rick and the lovely folx at the O Spa. We got to the O Spa a little ahead of check in time. Parking was plentiful. We were welcomed and given a tour. The facilities at the O Spa are very nicely laid out. It's minimalist, but very comfortable. Rick calls it "hippie chic" and I think that's a good description. We were invited to our room shortly after arriving. The O spot is in the process of remodeling the rooms. We picked The Bauhaus room, which is an older, but spacious room with a kitchenette. We liked our room and the patio with table and chairs right in front. We would have liked a couple of hooks in the bathroom and some more shelving, but hopefully they will address that when they get around to this room. The bed was very comfortable and the linen on the bed was really soft which was a plus. The ambience of the place is very relaxed. I was very pleased to see a diverse variety of guests; different colors, body types, tattooed and not, sexual orientation/gender presentation not an issue. 420 friendly makes it all the sweeter. Everyone who had dogs were very responsible and the dogs were very well behaved. It was a big plus for me to be able to get some love from Lucy & the pups! This is the review I left on tirp advisor. You cant even leave a review on their website. All of the reviews are bogus. This place is a joke. Customer service is non-existent. They do not care about you. First of all, they market it as a "clothing optional spa. Not the case at all. They make you put bottoms on. Whatever that is the least of the issues. They have no staff at the facility. I saw two cleaning staff and they left shortly after we arrived. The office in the lobby was a ghost town. My wife tired to call them before we arrived and received no call back. Our friends did the same thing with the same results. They finally answered the phone or got a call back after the third attempt. The person who answered the phone had a horrible attitude and basically said "well no one answers the phone until after 3 pm". In what universe is that acceptable? So we arrive and you get a code to enter the facility as well as your room. The code for every room had the room # in it!! A 6 year old could access any room if you understand the sequence. I had to go out to my car three times and every time I found the main entrance door left ajar with the dead bolt lock sticking out so that any random person could just stroll in. I found that same door in the same condition at 8am the next morning; so I assume it was propped open the whole night. So unprofessional and highly dangerous. The neighborhood was questionable at best. The apartment in disrepair across the street (lll call it "Meth Manor") had a cast of questionable residence there which just infuriated everyone. NO REGARD FOR THE SAFETY OF THE GUESTS!!! Two of our friends were celebrating their anniversary. After sitting by the pool they went to get ready for their special dinner. They try to open their door with the code and it doesn't work. They attempt to call the "management" and after several attempts, they call back. Our friend address the problem and the person on the phone has the audacity to say "Oh, that happens a lot". With no follow up statement. As if that is acceptable service for any facility. Management finally had to get one of the cleaning staff to come back to open the door with a key but not before they had to stop and buy supplies. Needless to say they were late for their anniversary dinner and plans after. So unprofessional and disrespectful. The two barbeques on the property were death traps. Both failed while we attempted to use them. Ruined a perfectly good Tri tip. People had dogs running around / in and out of the mineral pool. So disgusting. This dump is supposed to be a "spa". To add insult overtly poor service, we found an ant invasion in our room the next morning. My wife was beside herself. Again we called the "management". They did not at all. At that point we decided to leave that dump. It wasn't until we were on the road that they got back to us. They said they would get someone there to "clean up the ants" AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. They offered to comp us for another night. We told them we would never return but a partial refund would be acceptable. Their response was crickets. I now need to go to a legitimate spa to recover form the trauma of this sad excuse for a spa. Stay as far away from this place as humanly possible. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. The place is falling don't the service was horrible our bungalow couldn't lock so we couldn't all leave, no ice, the pools were not well maintaind the cabana curtains and pool furniture was ripped the bungalo we stayed In was dirty with chicken and dog hairs with a dirty ass shower that hadn't been washed in ages and a coffee maker full of mold overall they gave me creepy vibes and doesn't feel save anymore noticedsome wierd shit be carefull out there with theese folks yall the owner looks like he needs help read more

My happy place. I dream of the weekends I can escape to my lil oasis. They have lightly themed rooms which all face the pool. I love that the amenities are open all night because i'm a night owl. My dog loves coming to relax as well and has so much fun laying by the pool. Its pretty quiet unless large groups are booked. They also rent out cabanas via day pass so there are some visitors who are using the spa vs. staying on site. The manager is always super sweet and helpful each time we've visited. Booking sites for this property are very misleading. The landscaping needs to be done around the entire property. it is in the middle of know where. Once you book these over charged rates, you receive a text with all the access codes. You wonder why oh you will definitely figure it out when you arrive and you have to figure it out because THERE IS ZERO STAFF. So we figured it out, oh the codes what's the code for the front door? Now we are in, we look around for staff. Again no staff to be found. So we follow signs that say lobby. So we are like oh that's where we check in. So we walk over to find out the lobby is a lounge area. Very cute set up but where do we check in? Now we are super dumb founded. So my partner says look on the code text it has our room number and a code. Guess what we have now checked in once we opened that door. I guess because again we never seen anyone. Very unwelcoming. Once We got settled in we walked around. The pools and jacuzzi are very dirty far from crystal clean. We did NOT go in they did not look inviting at ALL. Sad because they look like they would be amazing to enjoy. The whole hotel was empty. We had the place to our selves. The rooms are all cute we were able to look in them all cause the windows were open and lights on. Later in the evening we decided to go outside. Omg cats every where. We decide maybe we can put our feet in the jacuzzi let's see. Oh hell no a dam dead chicken in the jacuzzI. Oh yeah time to go. This place is very cute and has a ton of potential however for the price it was not worth it. Whom ever the owners are you have a gold mine. There is not a lot of fixing up that needs to be done. Clean the pools and clean up that landscaping and at least 1 staff member thru the day. I would love to return but kinda freaked out. read more

I had the whole place to myself plus one other guest. Was in the White Room.It was clean and comfortable. The second night, 14 people and a dog , not as quiet but still enjoyable. I started writing my 5 Star review for this place even before we got there. Rick was so nice and welcoming on the phone. Well, we went there and the 5 Stars remain. We were looking for a really low-key fun experience, and we found it. When we were there, we started talking about how upset we would have been if we did not go through with our booking and had let the 1 star reviews stop us from visiting. The O Spa was just what we were looking for, an adults-only resort with a pool. It feels like you are at a friend's house who is sharing his amazing house with you. When we stay with friends, we don't need them to fuss over us, we are happy to cook and just enjoy the space. We do not need to be fawn over. The vibe at this place is so cool. What Rick has created is really magical, it is so relaxing and as he says a Zen experience. If you are looking for a place where you can let your hair down and enjoy conversations with people from all around the world while soaking in a mineral pool, this is the right place for you. Let's address those one-star reviews - they're completely off base. Seriously, take a quick look at O Spa website and you'll immediately know if it's your kind of place. It's not for everyone, but it was absolutely perfect for us. We hung out with the absolutely coolest people. Our time at The O was an absolute blast! We were looking for a laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere, and boy, did we find it! From the moment we arrived, when you see the inside grounds in person, we knew we were at the right place with the right people. I can see why someone might write a one-star review because they did not actually read what is on the website. The pictures and description are pretty spot on. The place is so beautiful at night with all the different lights. The O is all about relaxation and rejuvenation. Their natural mineral waters work wonders, leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalized. The accommodations may not be extravagant, but they're cozy and well-designed. We actually had a turntable and records to play in our room. Oh, and by the way, they're cannabis and pet friendly! If that would bother you, do not go there. Now, if you're seeking complete tranquility, this might not be the right fit. But if you're looking for a serene and stimulating escape, The O Spa will become your new go-to destination. We are already planning on a visit next month. The best part is that we met truly incredible people during our stay. The purest Mineral springs baths I've ever had ! From. Florida, to Ojai ... nothing beats the shallow pool at the OSpa for the most Prestine and rejuvenating aquatic healing oasis the desert has to offer. Having said that , I am a stickler for details and found The O Spa to be in a constant flux of remodeling and rejuvenation, each time I've come out on my retreats as from LA . The unassuming owner, Rick seems to always be smiling and tinkering with whimsical designs and showpieces that accent this dessert hot springs gem. As a 3 year regular guest to the O , the vibe, energy and musical underscore of downtempo chill out music always keeps me packing my bags for one more dip in that wonderful 1950s blue lagoon. Our (attempted) stay at The O Spa and Resort was a complete disaster. The day before our stay we called and asked for an early check in, to which Rick replied that we would have to check in at regular time at 4:00 pm, but could arrive at noon and hang around the pool until our room was ready. We arrived the day of our stay at 11:45 and called Rick. His response was that we "are really freaking early." He sent the door code and we entered the resort, the grounds were relatively nice, but there was no shaded area over the pool except for two umbrellas which were already occupied by other guests. There were shaded areas, but they were not marked and it was unclear if they were the rental type of cabanas or if they were for everyone's use. There was no one on the grounds to ask, and Rick already seemed irritated with our first communication, so we Uber-ed to another resort for the day. We returned at 4 PM and had still not received any check-in information. After calling the number on the door, we were texted a room code but not the room number. When we finally got the room number and entered, we were horrified to find two other guests asleep on the bed. Intruding on other guest's privacy is not our idea of a friendly encounter, and had they been awake we would have been extremely apologetic. With no staff on site, we called the hotel again. The manager arrived about 10 minutes later but instead of speaking to us, we overheard him rudely kicking some other guests out of their room and deduced that he was doing this for us. Being deeply disturbed by the events that already transpired, we confronted him and asked him how many guests would have to pay for his complete lack of organization and horrible people-skills to which he replied as if we were unappreciative of his efforts. We left and had to make emergency plans for the night on Labor Day weekend, and only after we left was he apologetic via text message. He lied and said that the people in the original room was a confused elderly woman who had been staying a few additional days, which doesn't add up given that if he knew this to be the case, why would he give us the room and code? Were we supposed to share the room with her? This guy isn't even good at lying. read more

Love the low chlorinated hot mineral waters , inclosed hot water and outside is amazing , I always find such peace in my experiences there and the pool is great for swimming , love the statues and Rick is always accommodating and kind , keeps the place safe and clean I am inspired to hold a Spiritual Retreat there ! What a find! We had an absolutely lovely day here. Came on a day pass, didn't use the rooms. Super cute facility. Very relaxing all around, no problems no pressure. 3 amazing pools, all heated to various degrees. Beautiful landscaping, comfortable, clean, and pretty quiet for spring break. Bring your own booze, food, and weed. We did a lovely cheese plate, spicy margaritas, and infused joints. Could not have asked for a better day! read more

Had a really nice time here. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with many options to hang out within the property. They have cabana's, beach chairs and shaded areas in the patio and around the pools. The patio has dining tables and a few grills for cook outs. The guest common room has a self-serve kitchen with a dining table, an ice machine and cook out utensils. The guest common room also includes the front desk/owner's office and is located at the far end of the hotel entrance. The swimming pool was at a nice 90°, the hot tubs were at 104°, are open 24 hours, and were all pretty clean. Indigo was one of the best parts of our stay. She was hospitable and very friendly. She assisted with everything she could and allowed us to pick our rooms after check-in. There are a few improvements needed to make this hotel a better experience. A lot of it has to do with the rooms. Adding amenities (like shampoo, conditioner and hand soap), USB ports/charging stations, raising the television up higher than the bed (I stayed in room 9 and the tv was a foot from the floor, thankfully I wasn't there to watch tv), some pictures were missing from frames on the wall which made for an incomplete design of the room, and attention to detail when making/refreshing bed sheets and pillow cases. read more

One star for decent communal kitchen and decent aesthetic concept for exterior. All else? Nope. Where to begin? Getting inside was a challenge. There was a massage therapist (who never showed again for four days and didn't honor a verbal appt we made, her VM was full so couldn't get in touch) and one guest and no manager. I called him, he let me in remotely and gave no instructions except where to find a key. No wifi PW, no warning about the reactive dogs, etc. Turns out he gave me the wrong key and put me in another room. I told him I like the new room, which was cheaper and quieter. There was only one person staying in the entire place, yet he said I couldn't use that room. He said he found a better room for me, which turns out was horrible and loud. I texted and requested just give me the original room I booked. He said that's not an option. huh? I roamed around the property to look around with my dog when we were accosted by four very reactive ill trained dogs, all rushing my cowering dog who was trapped against two spikey cactus. I called out for someone to grab their dogs to no avail. I texted the owner again, and he said he was incredibly uncomfortable with me and my dog "clearly isn't socialized" and he wanted to "just give you a refund". It was 9 pm after a 350 mile drive. I had nowhere to go, sadly. (note: my 12 pound dog is generally timid and just wants to quietly follow me around. He spends all day at a daycare with 20 other dogs, he's quite socialized). Only one of two times I saw the owner, he interrupted some time I was enjoying in the pool while I had the place to myself (this place is a total ghost town and you might even have it to yourself if you dare show up). My dog was tethered and quietly sitting next to the pool when he came with four dogs charging right for my dog. He made NO effort to contain the dogs, apologize, or anything. The owner merely said "they have to learn to be around other dogs, they are very gentle monsters!" and "nobody has ever complained about them, it must be you!" ummm...they have heckles raised and bared teeth and all four ran up to my dog. I let them know it was neither relaxing nor gentle, and we left and took to the room. I spent my days driving all over to get away. in the middle of a long road trip, I badly needed a spa stay with my dog. I could barely afford it, but it was going to be worth it! Nope. I cried at the $900 I had wasted, and now my dog is in recovery after being accosted once and full blown attacked another time. I spent 3-4 hours on the road exploring Joshua Tree and Palm Springs (where I had been lots already) rather than be there. The room was in bad shape, holes in the wall, the ceiling of the bathroom brown and peeling, the sink leaked and didn't work, the bed was heinous. There is no wifi to speak of, so prepare to blow through your data. The pools outside are disgusting. black dirt, uncleaned, slimy ground to slip on, broken tiles coming loose. The hot tub was a little hotter than an average swimming pool. The exterior of the building is falling apart. He never turned on the gas fire pits even though it was chilly at night. The pics are accurate. Until you look more closely. one night, four people checked in after nearly having it to myself. They all complained about the dogs and every single one asked me basic questions because there was no staff. One checked out as soon as they got there because she was very afraid of dogs, and the owner didn't care. Another person checked out the next morning (after stepping in dog poo, which is everywhere and having an unclean room) and went to a spot down the street. Everyone said they wouldn't be back. We all bonded quite a bit together over how badly we were treated and how mean the owner was when he showed. They all surrounded me (nicely) in the kitchen area because nobody knew how anything worked, how to get a massage, etc. It is possible that he only wants this business to have parties with his friends and his dogs and needs an occasional passer by to pay for it but doesn't really want anyone there. Or possibly, he makes all the money during Coachella and should just shut down the rest of the year. Oh, and in addition to unruly dogs with no pet etiquette unlike every other dog friendly spot, there is regular cigarette smoke. The owner and several of the guests smoked cigarettes. In the hot tub, next to me on a cabana, everywhere. It's "420 friendly" but like "dog friendly", there is still etiquette and CA state law about smoking in a public place. There is no designated cigarette or weed smoke area away from pools and room windows. There are ashtrays filled with butts everywhere. While I liked everyone who stayed there, I didn't want to be walking to the kitchen through smoke. Please find somewhere else. This town is called "Spa Zone" for a reason, and you don't have to stay here. read more

Pros: Spacious pools with multiple temps. On site massage room upon request. BYOB. Smoke friendly. Cons: Last visit was so bad, I won't return: No on site staff to mediate partying. My holiday was basically ruined by a group blaring Bluetooth speakers and partying in the spa until 3 AM. Should be signage indicating quiet time and PROHIBITING speakers. It's a place to relax. Nude resort, yet cell phone use is not prohibited at all, which feels very uncomfortable for female travelers. Kitchen was horrendous. Dishwasher broken and overflowing with crusty dishes. Housekeeping told me she didn't know how to work it. Dirty dishes piled in the sink. Had to pick through them to find a clean fork. Trashcan overflowing. No paper towels. No tea towels. No coffee. No body wash, shampoo or conditioner in shower dispensers. Lights missing lightbulbs in the lobby lounge, couldn't relax to read a book because it was too dark. Two days and no one could provide me with correct WiFi password. No towels in the spa towel baskets. Spa is visibly covered in dirt and you can tell it has not been pressure washed in years. No Daily treatment to clean spa-- I have been to many hot springs here, and although they are natural, we are human and chemicals still need to be administered in small amounts. I used to love this place but it has gone totally downhill, which is unfortunate because these are easy fixes! Just get an on site manager! read more

I love staying at the O Spa when I'm visiting Desert Hot Springs. The owner and the staff are professional and friendly. The amenities are THE BEST! They have a large Melrose Place type pool in the front surrounded by daybeds, a large shallower pool with jets, another shallow pool with no jet & if that's not enough you can fill up the cowboy tub, tandem one person cowboy tubs are the beautiful porcelain tub that showers you with the amazingly warm and silky DHS mineral water. There are PLENTY of places for you to take in the water. The rooms are stylish & clean. There is a common house with a kitchen if you need it. There are fire pits & tables set up for the guests. The owner keeps the property immaculate. The folks that come stay at the o spa are very friendly. This is our number one spot in DHS.. Can't wait to get back there! read more

A Now Open Letter to Rick Rabuck, Owner of The O Spa since you did not have the decency to respond to my email: Hi Rick, I need to follow up about what happened last Sunday evening. It was a difficult situation that I can empathize with [some of the cleaning crew called out so rooms were not ready by 3pm check-in] but the way you handled it was the most disappointing part. I did appreciate the early call that day and the offer for the late check out. That part was handled well.  However, your communication once we arrived left much to be desired. I saw other guests arriving confused and also not knowing what was going on. You were not providing any updates to anyone or coming out of your home to speak with guests. That's all you really had to do was show some hospitality and be available. I called you and you could not provide any updates and did not call me back. We waited around as best we could. We could not go in the pools because we were not offered any towels. It was windy and cold so we tried to start one of the fire rings and a heat lamp but they did not work. We then sat in the lounge but it was dark in there and we could not get most of the lights to work. There was also no toilet paper in the lounge restroom. We were as patient as we could be and even though you did not make yourself available to assist anyone, you were still quite upset about us wanting to at least put some stuff in the room and maybe sit in the living room. You offered us the option for a refund which we eventually took after 630pm having still not received any updates or a timeline of how much longer it would take. As we left we noticed the main door handle was hanging off and the door was ajar. Not safe or secure! It was only after I told you we were leaving and you were going to lose the booking that you suddenly called and had an update for me. It was too late by then. You need to put your customers first, not their money. Again, what I want to emphasize is that a little more effort, accessibility, and communication on your part would have made this situation so much better. To top it off, you did not respond to this now pubic email or issue me a refund so I had to file a dispute with my credit card company. Real classy Rick.
