I went today to check out Western Xposure for the 1st time and left feeling like this ISN'T a place for MEN of COLOR. I went to get a day pass and the desk guy Lucas said "We have a clear bag policy" which I didn't know. I had a regularly sized backpack. Then looking me up and down said, "I don't EVEN KNOW what's in that bag!" insinuating I was bringing something in unsafe or I was sketchy. I told him I have two towels, undies, and a change of clothes. I asked if I could put the items in a locker? "We don't have lockers today" he said, so I just said OK and left. I understand the clear bag policy is for safety, but I wasn't offered any additional options of a bag, what to do, where I could put my things. Also, I've been black my entire life and I know racist dog whistles when I hear them. I left and told a friend and they said CCBC usually offers a clear bag or has options for guests. I wasn't offered anything and the tone, non-verbals and looks from the employee made me feel unwelcomed. I called and asked for the Eric manager guy here to communicate how I felt and was told he's not available and to call back Monday. I'm not calling back and won't be back! UPDATE: A truly sad response in response to me telling you it appeared to be racial profiling. This wasn't ABOUT the bag policy. A very cool, inviting clothing optional resort in Cathedral City that offers day passes for you to enjoy all the resorts features. Gorgeous remodeled rooms and areas, pool, hot tubs, showers, facilities, lounge areas, tables, benches, water station, lockers, vending machines, and more. Runaway Bar & Restaurant is very popular and they put on shows/performances here all the time. I didn't stay at CCBC this go around, but did enjoy attending events, hanging with friends, running into familiar faces and meeting new ones. Bingo by the pool is something I'd definitely come back for as are some of the watch parties, holiday events and beyond. Laying out near the pool on their huge grassy lawn was amazing, except for when the sun shifted and my phone went wild from being overheated. Grabbing a locker after that was key! And if you manage to secure a locker you have the option of using a free locker if you have your own lock and key or purchasing one with a code. It's a short stroll from the Cathedral City Civic Center and Mary Pickford is D'Place Theater, fifteen minute walk from the Agua Caliente Casino and even quicker drive from both. For a lot of out of towner and travelers rideshare is fairly easy and for EV, plug ins, etc they do have stations. They have a few policies to keep people safe, secure as well as savoring the days and nights here like having clear bags for day guest/pass holders and they do provide as well as have larger clear bags for purchase. Events can fluctuate, especially on the day of, if you're planning on something - secure it right away. Rooms can be a pretty penny, but they do have some good flash sales throughout the year, especially in the summertime, definitely keeping my eye out for that. They had some free services for testing and vaccines after we made our way to the pool area I thought were pretty great. Love the bar, shop and front desk area when you first walk in - modern chic welcoming. All the staff we encountered, including hosts and volunteers for the events we attended were nothing but kind, friendly and helpful. Being a queer space, CCBC is one I hope keeps thriving year after year and being inclusive of all men of all shapes, sizes and shades. read more

First time in Palm Springs. CCBC met all my expectations. The location is close to walking and drivable restaurants. CCBC staff were friendly and responsive to my (minimal) needs and questions. The rather extensive grounds are very well maintained - kept clean and orderly. See other reviews for a description. My room was large, bright and comfortable with a new shower and comfortable bed. I had no issues or concerns my entire stay. I would describe it as a low-touch resort. They will assist with whatever you need, but they don't proactively go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable or ask if you need anything. The pricing is probably what you can expect at this level. For those who are interested, you can definitely have a "good time" here. read more

But paying nearly $1,000 for a two-night stay in a worn down room, then being told I can't check out one hour late (half the rooms were empty all weekend), has made me decide CCBC is just not worth it anymore. Maybe for a day pass, but not at $460+/night. Casa Oliver is much newer and cheaper. read more

I had visited CCBC numerous times using a day pass, but recently stayed a few nights as a guest. I had a wonderful, hedonistic few days. For the uninitiated, CCBC is a gay, clothing optional resort. There are many such resorts in Palm Springs -- while many are relaxing and low-key, CCBC leans more towards the adventurous. I found the facilities to be well maintained. There is a pool, a couple of jacuzzis, a 'waterfall' area, and an expanse of natural grass with many lounge chairs. What sets CCBC apart from most other resorts are the numerous 'play' areas throughout the resort -- a variety of slings and benches, etc. And they allow day pass visitors, so during my stay I encountered a wide variety of folks, not just the other overnight guests. In essence, it is an open air gay bathhouse that is also a hotel. I found the staff welcoming and friendly. There is someone available at the front desk 24/7, and every employee I interacted with treated me well. The facility is pet friendly, and I was able to bring my dog. There are a variety of rooms available -- some very basic, while others are renovated with kitchens and bedrooms. It is quite pricy -- my simple, basic room cost me over $300 a night all included. The price was really the only drawback -- other than that, its the perfect place for someone who wants an adventurous, frisky, naked vacation. read more

The location is perfect, close to The Barracks, The Roost, Studio One 11, restaurants, The Mary Pickford movie theater, all within walking distance! The 24 hour eatery on the CCBC campus is the Runway restaurant, with a full bar menu, with alcohol service during regular business hours. Excellent salt water pool, high end resort accommodation, private cottages and playrooms, indoor and outdoor activities 24/7. There's never an uneventful experience unless you just want to relax by the clothing optional pool! You really have to witness for yourself what great adventure you are about to experience! We have visited and stayed at the resort. I guess my expectations of the pool being larger was one thing. The room wasn't cleaned very well before we checked in. Ants on the floor linens needed to be rewashed or just changed maybe. Also the gentleman at the front desk treated me a little different. My partner is younger and maybe he could've been more cordial when checking us in. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that my race had nothing to do with the treatment I received. All good things must come to an end. We just found out that CCBC no longer allows they pass users the ability to bring their own alcohol. That was one of the best things about a day pass and the pool. Dau pass users once socialized poolside Sipping and sharing cocktails and unfortunately that's no longer allowed. On top of that you are no longer allowed to bring in a backpack or bag unless it is made of clear plastic. Nobody knows why but if it sounds ghetto it certainly is. We've enjoyed many Saturdays as day pass guests. We decided to stay the night this last weekend, and it really showed how wonderful the resort really is. I have always enjoyed my time at the resort, as a day pass from Canada I am a bottom, and so, it only takes one....if you know what I mean....lol Pool deck is lovely. The grounds are well kept. There is a restaurant if you get hungry after a lot of play time. I have not seen or stayed in the rooms. The play area has a really good variety in my opinion. I wanted to echo an earlier review that I wrote about CCBC, from the fall of 2022- that CCBC has the BEST combination of amenities and value, for gay men who are looking for a clothing optional stay. I've stayed at CCBC a number of times since then, on both a day- pass basis and as a hotel guest - and CCBC consistently has been an enjoyable experience - the facilities are clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. As a hotel guest - rooms are clean and comfortable, with daily housecleaning. I've also tried other resorts in the Palm Springs area - and CCBC remains my go-to first choice - I look forward staying again. read more

I have always enjoyed making a stop here since we discovered this resort way before the pandemic. I am unsure why CCBC has felt different lately. I have seen some changes occur to the resort as of recently, more positive ones for sure. We love trails that have been done behinds the rooms, which give a really fun cruisy vibe. I also like the addition of Runway outside the entrance of the resort as they've played fun music and it's a great place to grab a drink. I would wish the resort was more clear about re-entry rules from the bar for some events, such as Blatino Oasis. I recall a time when passes were around $25-30 per person, but lately an 8 hour day pass averages around $45. There have been events that bring the entry price down to $30 and other events that take the entrance fee up to $60. The only time I didn't call to ask about entrance fee, was the time it was the most expensive I've paid ($60). It's always best to call and double check pricing as it can fluctuate per event. This year we have been to the resort two times for two different events, and I am sad to say that the events are not what I used to remember. Perhaps it's inflation, the pandemic, monkey pox, gas prices, or just that it's been too hot in the desert, but neither times I came this year have been as fun as previous visits. I have one more PS trip this year, and unfortunately, at this time I am unsure if I will be making a stop to this resort. The first event that I came to this year was Blatino Oasis, which was pretty full, but received less than usual interest from patrons. The second event I checked out was NKP, which was really slow. The event that I usually like is called Western Exposure, but unfortunately, I will not be in town for either one of these parties. I've made some friends here at CCBC and whenever I am in the hot tubs, I do have great friendly interactions with those around. I've never been inside a room, but judging from what I can see from outside, the rooms look really clean and spacious. As much as I would love to stay in a room here, I find that staying elsewhere has been a more economical option. read more

Regarding the day pass pricing, I totally understand and agree with the higher price for event nights and weekends, and I also understand inflation is hitting everyone HARD. I know when another resort in PS had $10 day passes Sundays and Wednesdays,, the place was packed. They more than made up the lower pass price with volume. I also agree with you that $22 Wednesdays is certainly more reasonable, but how much better do you think Wednesdays would be at, say $15. I'm also wondering about the 8 hour limit. Again, thank you for taking the time to reply to my review. I know you're a busy man, and I appreciate your time. I also appreciate the level of discretion and true hospitality I experienced the last time I was there. Every member of your staff I encountered were nothing but courteous and pleasant. Makes me wonder how the other person behaved to warrant any of his perceived complaints. Clearly not someone who's worked in the service industry. Tonight I spent almost $100 for an 8 hour pass. After spending a very wrong amount of money here...I still was given uncalled for disrespect and with unprofessional manner by ROBERT. While I was waiting for my credit card to process in their machine....a young customer came into office asking for quarters for the vending machine which they said they did NOT have change for him. I spoke up and told the kid I had change and could help him but instantly ROBERT rudely cut me off and told me "TO FOCUS".... As if he was my abusive parent or someone who had the right to tell me not to help another human in need. I was in shock and extremely offended and my positive joyful night ripped into shreds. ROBERT continued to speak to me like this and be a gross horrible human. I thanked the 3 men and before entering i looked at ROBERT and reminded him that I was very kind and nice to him and that I did not appreciate how he treated me and spoke to me. He gave me a childish look and he purposely did not buzz the door for me making me turn around and look at them again before doing what I just paid almost a hundred dollars for. I did nothing at all to be treated this grossly. I was kind, mature, happy, tried to make them smile and yet ROBERT FAILED NOT ONLY AS A GOOD CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE BUT AS A MORAL GOOD HUMAN BEING! Hotel has been around for decades. Remains well maintained. They have various theme weekend which are fun. The rooms attractive but not modern. That is their appeal. Lots of outdoor activity spaces. Something for almost everyone. They offer day/night allowing locals and other tourists to join and or be part of the fun read more

This resort is not cleaned properly!! Mold!! If you book a 300.00 room for 1 night you will be forcibly removed after checkout the next day and not able to enjoy the pool. Check-in 3pm checkout 11am, if you minus sleep and morning prep time...you only have 12 hours of resort experience. People who pay 40.00 for a day pass get uninterrupted 8 hours. Company treats day pass holders better than people who book rooms. The system is set up so that only one person is on the bill so if you have a negative experience they will just state that you were a guest and disregard your feedback. Horrible horrible customer service!! When trying to discuss the previous issues they accused me of trying to create a smear campaign. They are not accredited with the better business bureau and do not care how they treat people. read more

I've stayed at a few clothing optional places in Palm Springs / Cathedral City and hands down I found CCBC best fitting for me. Not only is it spacious! The staff is great, the energy is great, and the people who visit are always sweet. I never leave here not meeting new people. There are times I drive here just for the day just to get away. Okay maybe the rooms can be a little cleaner but if anyone who knows me I'm such a clean freak. The restaurant right outside the resort is delicious, so everything you need is honestly right there. Visiting in Palm Springs and decided to check out the "scene" at CCBC. A bit of a drive from where I'm staying, but not bad. So I pull up, and pick a spot to park, go in. The check in process wasn't bad, they did take my drivers license and credit card. But when I checked out from my night pass they didn't ask which locker I was using so I hope I'm not charged extra. Rating it as a gay mens resort, meh. This place was a waste of my time and fuel. The place is under construction, however that did not influence my review. The issue I had was with the clientele who were there cruising and the pure lack of fun I had. Now maybe it was a slow night or I need to try it again, I'll give that much of a chance. But for tonight, the guys there were gross , at least two different guys offered me meth, shower next to the sauna is broken and no temp control. It's just a valve opening and shutting and you do that by reaching up on my toes and pulling it open or shut. Moving on. The waterfall, behind a huge sign that reads "sex", had used condoms in the water and on the sitting area inside the waterfall. I could go on, but it just wasn't that fun at all. It's over hyped, and trashy. Hopefully my next visit, I'll feel different, if I come back. read more

My day at CCBC was mixed, because I had to deal with a very unfriendly Manager, in spite of having never been to the resort, who accosted me with an attitude of annoyance at my ignorance of the rules. And there are a LOT of them. Just to be aware, you cannot bring hardly anything inside, since they only supply a tiny locker for day use, which is barely enough to hold anything -- I had to undress, bring my clothes and backback out to the car to keep it safe. Even asking him if there was another place to hold it seems to add to his annoyance. Second, there is a drink machine that take CASH ONLY. In this kind of place, I would hardly expect to keep cash, only a credit card. So of course it was impossible to get drinks from the vending machine. Fortunately, there is a wonderful lady at the lobby bar who provides free water, thank god. She is worth her weight in gold, and is the best thing about the place. Oddly enough, there is a very strange policy in place, which I still don't understand -- you can ask them to make a mixed drink, but in order to add alcohol, they have to hand you a tiny bottle (a single shot) and you need to take the plastic cup with the mixer and the tiny glass bottle out to the pool to add it to the drink. None of this makes any sense. For whatever reason, the aforementioned manager had to follow me into the locker room and CHECK MY BAGS and my cooler, for whatever reason I can't imagine -- but I guess that they have hustlers coming by with all kinds of drugs and illegal stuff, which is fine, but I'm clearly over 65 and would hardly be considered a hustler or drug mule. Overall, the grounds are kept nicely groomed and clean, but the odd behavior of the manager is enough to prevent me from doing another day use there -- if you do decide to go, you are cautioned that the only bags they allow are clear plastic ones (why, I will never know -- do they want to inspect your sex toys to gossip about them?) My recommendation -- go someplace else, the clientele is not worth the hassles with the management. read more

CCBC bills itself as a resort, but not of the standard kind which usually means facials, full body luxury virgin olive oil massage w/ a presoak in a gold plated bath tub & floating red wine colored rose petals, gourmet or cuisine minceur dining, 18 hole golf course approved by the PGA, etc. CCBC caters to an all male crowd that tends to value a more masculine, rough & ready, hail-fellow-well-met attitude as well as having a significant group of men who are naturists. There are plenty of hirsute full moons shining even in broad daylight at CCBC. Of course, there are the obligatory swimming pool to beat the desert heat & Jacuzzi to loosen tight muscles or to keep warm on cooler desert nights. Large expanse of lawn sunny & shaded with a barrage of chaises longues for your lounging pleasure during the hot desert afternoon siestas. The emphasis at CCBC is similar to cruise ships where conviviality & making friends are encouraged. And like on cruise ships, a few romantic encounters can be had. Many snow birds come to roost for a mild climate weekend away from polar vortices & other such East Coast frigid occurrence so the mix of guests tends to be younger outliers & local retirees. I accidently went to CCBC when the Bearaccuda event was in full swing. It's the end of winter & bears: polar, black, brown, pandas, sun, grizzlies, cubs, were coming out of hibernation. Stocky, husky, sturdily built, burly, hulky, bull-necked, most sporting some kind of facial & body hair were raring to go, rousing themselves after a long winter around the pools, lawn, waterfall, wet & dry saunas, & other fantasy areas that represented bunk houses, military encampments, the beach, & Danny's dungeon. There were even confessionals where one could be in a stall to spew out any dark secrets to a sacred priest dedicated to Saint Priapus himself. CCBC is a resort, that is different things to different people for different reasons. This is not the Ritz-Carlton nor the Four Seasons. It's downhome, unpretentious, come-as-you-are. It has another higher function in being a retreat for the liberation of the male spirit in a world all its own away from everyday drudgery & routine. There is a "something for everybody" feel to the place that is a rare occurrence no matter where you go. The facilities at CCBC may not be world class, but the ambience, the opportunities for a good time are second to none. 5 Yelp stars for something that money can't always buy. read more

I have stayed twice now and have enjoyed each time. This is a clothing optional gay men's resort although one of my visits was during the Coachella Music weekend and there were young straight women in bikinis present. As a German-American, this did not bother me. In fact, a couple came up to me to ask if I could take their picture. Since I don't care if other folks see me in my birthday suit, I obliged. The reason I did not give 5 stars has to do with the fact that for the competitive prices, there should be some bathroom amenities (shampoo, etc.) and perhaps some glassware in the rooms. We can't say enough nice things about our stay at CCBC. We unfortunately arrived to another local hotel that went out of business, with no notice. CCBC was able to accommodate us very quickly. Arrjay the manager is fantastic and was super understanding of our situation. We were able to get a room last minute. The front desk guys are very friendly and helpful. Grounds are beautifully kept. Pool and hot tub is just right. The restaurant located detached, Runway has fantastic food. Definitely try the Smashburger or Airfried Chicken sandwich! We look forward to our next stay!! read more

This is by far the best gay resort in the USA. The staff is friendly , the rooms are clean and comfortable and the grounds are like an oasis in the desert. There is a pool and 2 hot tubs , and plenty of lounge chairs to catch a few rays on. On the property is a restaurant and bar that serves up good food . The only issue I have with this place is how expensive it's gotten to be . Rooms typically start around $300 ( off season ) and day passes are now $35, which prevents the locals from frequenting it .I would recommend this place to single guys or couples , it's a great place to cruise , or just relax at the pool and people watch . read more

I'm giving four stars because the resort is always well kept up and the staff are great. However, these new rules of not being allowed to bring a few beers and clear backpack mandate are absurd. I get they want to keep us safe and free of illegal drug users. Still, if I'm going to pay $50 bucks for a day pass, I want to enjoy a few beers by the pool without having to dress and go to runway. At least meet us half way. Allow us to bring our own beers in pool safe containers or at least hire drink runners to wait on us pool side. If CCBC is worried of patrons using illegal drugs, do regular walks of the grounds and eject people doing so from the premises. I've never had any concerns for my safety here. A lot of locals and regulars I know have stopped going because of these rules and more are following suit. The other resorts with day passes charge less, allow us to BYOB and don't tell us what type of bag we have to bring. I do miss hanging out here and will glad return once they get rid of these silly rules. read more

Outdated, overpriced, understaffed. A lot of the amenities of the past have been stopped. Wednesday barbecue now requires one to get dressed and leave the resort to their next door restaurant for a free burger. The Runway is a poorly planned addition to the property it do is unorganized, understaffed and lacks management direction from the owners The only ray of hope was the new desk clerk, Shawn, who is welcoming, knowledgeable and willing to resolve any concerns I had. All in all, overpriced and not worth it as a hotel. Just not the same as it was just a few years ago.
