Unfortunately, despite the good martinis, this establishment lacks basic customer service. I don't expect to be pampered, but a smile goes a long way. I'm not sure if staff is underpaid, overworked or if the issue is one of lack of training, but the service is definitely lacking. I will not return. Maybe customers that are "regulars" receive an upgraded level of kindness as I know there are many that love this place. Brought my son for some Adult Wine Slushes. Place was Gorgeous inside with the rustic feel, lots of wood finishes and wine barrels. Like stepping outside into a winery! Loved the vibe. We ordered the slushy flight with a spicy hummus tray. The spicy hummus was yummy not a hot spicy.. just a little spice. Came with pita bread, veggies and crackers. We ate it all up. Our flights were yummy..my favorite was Peach/Mango. And my Sons was Watermelon tastes like a jolly rancher. We had a great time sipping on our drinks and chatting with other customers. I say do not spend your money at The Oak and Brazen Wine Company! I brought 9 people to the Christmas Trivia Night only to be rudely talked to by the owner. I made an email reservation with the owner for the evening in late October. Amy responded-sure I will reserve a table for you! We arrived at 6:10 for the 6:30 reservation. When we asked for our table, Amy responded with "I gave your table up because you weren't here at 6:00. I showed her the email and explained at no time did either of us communicate anything about a 6:00 reservation. The trivia started at 6:30 so we arrived at 6:10 for our table. Amy responded with..."TOO BAD". I was shocked and extremely disappointed with the customer service-particulary since Amy is the owner. Nice charcuterie and a fun time sampling all of the wines and sangria. I appreciated the flavors of the sangria probably the most. The white and red wines were good, but the sangrias really popped! So cuUuUute! The ambiance is great! Right when you walk in you get hit with the massive wine barrels and long bar top. I also enjoyed how the extra seating to the right is all kind of different, makes for an eclectic feel. All very warm & welcoming feeling. Great for a group or even just for a couples date night. I went to Oak & Brazen with a friend this past Saturday. All started out well, we ordered a drink and food. Sitting at the table, my pannini arrived within 15 - 20 minutes. I waited for my friend's flatbread to arrive, but she suggested I go ahead and eat. My friend asked the waitress twice about her food subsequent to that..both times she was advised it would be out in a minutes. However, it was at least 30 minutes from the time my food arrived until she received her flatbread (which by all appearances was a frozen round pizza). Not once did anyone stop by to ask how the food was. They did comp one drink to my friend since her food took so long. The food is sub par, and service was awful. read more

The sandwich was good and it was hot. half way through her sandwich, the pizza shows up. it was like warm and just OK. No utensils, had to ask for napkins. Water is self serve at the bar. should have dialed down my tip because the only service was me ordering at the bar and some one dropping off my food. We hosted our son's rehearsal party this past weekend at Oak and Brazen. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. The venue had the exact ambiance that we were looking for. Amy was always responsive during the planning stages and she and Karen were very friendly and efficient the night of the party. My family just received the worst service when we showed up for our Christmas Trivia reservation at Oak & Brazen. Earlier in the week we had emailed with Amy, the owner and she assured us that we would have a table reserved for the time of the trivia. The event started at 6:30 and we arrived at 6:08. The owner, Amy told us she gave our table away and said "too bad". We checked our email from her and she responded to tell us she had our reservation but didn't tell us to show up by 6 or we would be at risk of our table being given away. She was EXTREMELY rude and unapologetic, repeatedly shrugging her shoulders and telling us there was nothing she could do as there was no room for us because she had already given the table away. She made no attempt to remedy the situation and just repeatedly said "too bad". We will never go back there. Don't waste your time if you are looking for a new place to try. The other employees were also very rude when we went to leave asking if we had been helped then telling us they didn't really care and couldn't help. read more

What a great new addition to downtown Delaware! The inside is beautiful and I applaud the time spent getting all the interior details just right. There's a beautiful bar for tastings and many options for sitting throughout. We visited on opening day (I simply could not wait any longer!) and there were a handful of other guests enjoying wine and snacks. You have the option to select a tasting, glass or flight. I recommend the flight so you can try a few different options and see what suits you. I believe they may somehow be affiliated with Powell Village Winery as there are a few wines on the menu that have the same names, but there are also different ones. They have a handful of fruit sangria's (I sampled the peach, strawberry, blackberry and adult grape juice...all were delicious if you like sweeter wines!) but also a couple different white and red options. It's a smaller menu of wines from PVW but maybe that'll expand over time. They also offer snacks and I think I read something about different local beers? I'm excited to have them part of Delaware and highly recommend giving them a chance! read more

We hosted my sister's bridal shower at Oak & Brazen on Sunday, and I don't have enough good things to say!! Amy was absolutely wonderful from the start of the process to the end of the event! This place is quick, has good wine, and the place looks fantastic! I had the Ohio Cheese Board (from the Greater Gouda) and my girls both had flatbread pizzas. All were good. The girls also got a flight of Sangrias and I had the Pinot Grigio. Zero complaints. read more

Husband and I visited for a date night. We enjoyed it but probably won't be back. It wasn't overly impressive. We both got fights and a flatbread and the cheese plate. We felt the flatbread was way too salty. The cheese plate is good, but I could make a better one at home. We enjoyed the Meritage, but found the Cabernet sadly disappointing. First time visit kind of confusing as we didn't know what to do, no greeting as we came in or idea of how to order or if you are supposed to be seated. We ended up wandering out in the seating area and tracked down an employee who said to sit anywhere you like and then you order at the bar. Found a table but no menu's, went up to the bar and no menu's were sitting out so I asked someone for a menu who then gave me the run down. For $15 you get four 3 ounce glasses of wine/sangria for a flight...kind of high priced I thought. Most wineries we have been too have been $5 for six one ounce glasses. We tried two wines and two sangria's and they were all good. For $12.95 we got a flatbread pizza, also priced high for what you get....thin flatbread with sparse toppings. The bread and oil for $10 was very good and seemed ok I guess for a loaf of bread and two dipping oils. I would go back for a glass of wine or sangria and some bread, maybe try something else. We never did have anyone check on us, maybe they don't do that since it is bar service but since we had food we thought someone might have stopped by. read more

I live-streamed my first visit to this new wine bar in Delaware. To wit: the space is nice. kind of warehousey / wine cellar-ish. i walked in to a respectful noise level. It's 7:00 pm on wednesday. there's a long bar and three high tops which are full. nobody at the bar. there's a big, partitioned room adjacent with a few tables full. one bartender, one server visible so far. the bartender has stayed at the street-end of the bar, near the front window. I'm in the "soft seating" area near the back wall. i've been here for nine minutes. in full view of the entire bar. nobody has acknowledged my existence. no Hi How are you, no Welcome, no words at all. and no eye contact. this would be the PERFECT place for homeless people to come in and warm up if they don't want to be bothered. i assume you can get a nice glass of wine here. i know they serve it. i see them bringing it to other people. saw food too. looked like a pretty generic meat and cheese plate. still no acknowledgement whatsoever. when i look at the server he deliberately turns his head away and walks past. doing not much else, i might add. it is not busy in here by anyone's metric. except maybe the waiter's. i'd ask him if he's busy if he'd indicate a willingness to listen. perhaps even just to listen to a request for a menu or wine list? they have those too. i saw a menu go to the table in front of me. i literally could have walked to vito's, got a glass of wine, and walked back to my seat here by now. the other customers are enjoying each other's company, with glasses and plates in front of them. am i a ghost? EUREKA! time: 18 minutes. in passing: "You doin alright?" i meet his eye and smile. "I'm great, thanks." he moves to go on about his business. i maintain eye contact. "Do you need something?" he says. "I'd love a glass of wine," I implore. "Oh," he says. "All the ordering is done at the bar." Whereupon he points to the street end of the bar where the cashier is, and walks away. behind the bar. So i'm unclear as to what he might have gotten me when he asked "Do you need something?" A pillow might be nice. perhaps a little wrap for my legs. Alas i'm doubtful such luxuries are forthcoming, as i have been scant lucky to have got eight words from the staff. I'm leaving. a review of the victuals and libations shall have to wait til next time. read more

This is a little gem within downtown Delaware. We cane in for a date night and ended up running into friends. We decided to do wine flights, which allowed us to sample the majority of the wines available. Also the flatbreads are amazing! My fiance had the crumbled meatball flatbread and it was great. I really wish I could have been bigger so I could have taken more of it from him. We will definitely be back. read more
