I've taken classes in competing kitchens and the experience here is far superior. Chef Mike has a great model. Diners prep ingredients and then come together to put dishes together while learning tips and techniques. The sheer number of dishes prepared each time is stunning-- between 4 and 6 different recipes each time. I always come away with at least one thing I want to try making at home. And there are plenty of dishes that have made it into our regular repertoire. Some favorites: German pork tenderloin and spaetzel, Cajun blackened fish, Irish bangers and mash, Jamaican jerk chicken and coconut beans and rice to name a few. And some classes are more aspirational. I'll leave it to the experts to make ravioli and ramen, two dishes I have more respect for. I'm better with a knife, I know the basics of building different soups and sauces, I've upped my game on holiday cooking. And mostly, I just enjoy cooking so much more and have developed confidence. Not a cook? No problem. This is a very relaxed setting. You can do as much or as little as you like. You can sip wine and stir a pot of sauce or you can get your hands dirty and knead dough or shell shrimp. Tonight we made bibimbap and banchon. It was delicious. And easy. I went to Wine and Canvas with nine other people for an event. We did a skyline and made the canvas a night background. I have painted in the past but never liked how they came out. I really appreciated Bryan going above and beyond to ensure that everyone in our group was happy with their work and gave tips on how to fix anything we might have messed up. As far as the wine part, I was expecting my group to order more drinks but they didn't. I also am a total klutz and tipped my drink over then it sprayed on the group. I was able to get another one no problem. You can also bring your own food and if I knew that before I would've brought snacks. So many opportunities at this store. Would go back anytime!

They were trying to help us decide what kind of wine to make, and because my friends and I have different tastes they did a great job guiding us (very patiently and thoughtfully I might add) through the choices and helped us select our wine. The actual wine making process, down in the basement, was educational and fun. It's the same as the boxes they sell in store that you can take home, but this way we didn't have to buy all the equipment. We get to go back to bottle, as well as design our own label. What a fun experience, and we'll have about 30 bottles to show for it! Great customer service and a darling little shop.
