We have been customers for years. Maybe every six months. Take friends and family here when they join us because we know it will be good for everyone. So, it's no surprise we enjoyed our meal this weekend. What is a surprise is thay it exceeded expectations. We of course over-ordered a meal entirely from the specials menu. Truffle fries, lobster bisque, fried green tomato bruschetta, and a SoCal style mahi mahi - each of them were amazing. And not amazing for Ohio, NY; Just absolutely delicious food. Whomever is in the kitchen this summer is killing it. The Tavern is punching above its weight, even above its usual charm and fare. Keep it up!! read more

Always a great place to stop for food/drinks. Service is excellent and they are always great to accommodate larger parties. Great fish fry, clams, cauliflower bites, tots, and yummy desserts, just to name a few. Deep fried in beef tallow, yes please! read more

Went to dinner tonight and was very disappointed. My Wife ordered chicken riggies and didnt like the sauce.The waitress offered to order something else. My wife declined and when the bill came they didnt take the riggies off it. When we asked she said the owner refuse to. We ask to speak to the owner and he came to the table and immediately in a high voice said "Whats the problem?" She told him and he said we always make it the same way. She replied Ive never had them here. He immediately left us. we were withfriends and we paid the bill of $350 which we had appetizers and 3 drinks each. It wasnt about the money its more about how he treated us as customers. He is a complete idiot about it.the sauce. Needless to say we will not be back abd will be telling our friends and locals to say out because he doesn't know how to talk to customers. read more

Another fantastic meal at the Ohio tavern. Dining room was full so we sat at a table in the bar area. Bartender/waitress brought menus and took our drink order while we pondered the possibilities. Opted for a special - the cape cod Reuben with a side of tots. Sandwich was excellent, large deep fried portion of haddock and the rest of the Reuben toppings on rye. Cold beer, great food and a relaxed atmosphere. What could be better! read more

Awesome experience. Boyfriend and I were in town from Syracuse and went here for dinner. We had such a fun time. Good atmosphere and full of locals, which was great! Very Big portions and reasonable prices! Utica ("ohio") greens (gluten free!!) were great. Great burger and tots. Yummy french onion soup (though, a tad salty). Homemade pickles were amazing--for $1 it's a must. They had many gluten free dessert options...this was unexpected and so appreciated! GF brownie was great! read more

Everything from start to finish was amazing! Fried green tomatoes were crispy, delicious and served with pimento cheese, so so good. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and my wife had the eggplant boat. We just kept eating until we couldn't any more, it was that good. read more

Great local spot! Family orientated and the staff was great. The long hots appetizer dish was amazing. We never tried long hours so our first impression was great! My husband opted for the chicken and biscuits and they didn't disappoint. He said they were perfectly cooked. I chose the O.H. 10 sandwich which was ham, cheese, caramelized onions and there own spicy mustard dressing. The portions are very big so we had leftovers to take home. We would definitely eat here again when traveling in this area of NY again. read more

This is an attractive and cozy place. Lots of varnished wood and taxidermy (in bar) or art (in dining area). The food is very good, maybe the best in the area, but pricey. The drawback is that there is too much waiting! Despite the 3 young women clustered between bar and dining areas, everything is a problem! You can't just go sit down, you have to be seated. They don't give you a printout of the daily specials - you have to go through a recitation by the waitress and then remember it. When it's time to go, add on another 10 minutes to get your bill. Be sure to check it too! The bill is done the hard way with no automation. And it is VERY LOUD, especially when there are large tables full. In that case, have some drinks because your food will be a LOOONG time coming. read more

I came in from out of town, staying close by in coldbrook. Seemed like we were out in the middle of nowhere so I didn't expect much of this place. Very pleasantly surprised. Homestyle atmosphere, great bar, excellent food, attentive staff. Came in on a busy Friday night and did not wait long for a seat. Had some cool/different apps, tried the fried pickles, very good and had the fish fry and also broiled Cajun fish. Very fresh! Too full for desert but it looked like they had some good options. We'll be back! Reasonably priced too!! Would highly recommend even if you are not in the area it's worth a drive!!! read more

We went here while we were heading to Lake George on our road trip. The service was amazing and they are very friendly. The meals has large portion and tastes very nice. The price is pocket friendly. We may not coming back again because we are coming from the Netherlands but i recommended this place for everyone! The best in town! read more

Ok. First the positives, ordered one of the specials, chicken cordon bleu. It was superb! Not dry and the hollandaise was light and flavorful. My husband ordered the tavern steak, was ok. We shared the greens as an appetizer and they were ok. Here is the hard part. I ordered the fried pickles, was brought the signature pickles instead, they were good. Our salads were brought before the appetizer. Odd, but hey, there was a meeting going on and they were a little busy I guess. The service was extremely slow. One of the sides offered was macaroni salad, I asked our server if there were onions used to prepare the salad and she said no. There were onions on the macaroni salad. The tavern steak on the menu was listed as "market price". Our bad for not asking, but this was not Ruth Chris Steakhouse. The shock was when our bill arrived, the steak was $41.99!!! I suppose we should have have questioned that, but didn't. We have been at higher priced steak houses and that is their price for their very premium menu items. For a local tavern, we thought this price was way too high. Lesson learned to ask before ordering, guess "market price" can mean anything. Glad the server didn't bring the fried pickles, that would have added more to the bill. read more

Worst service ever... Waited 15 minutes at bar for drinks, finally got bartenders attention, she slammed plate on bar then walked away!!!! Then continued to stand at end of bar and talk about us.... i went there to get take out and ordered a burger and baked potato. after sitting for 20 minutes the barmaid announces to me there's no baked potatoes. in 45 years of going to restaurants i never had this happen. and the place was empty. plus there's just something about the atmosphere in there and some unfriendly barmaids too. and tipping well won't help. i've learned to avoid this place just to save the aggravation the staff gives you. read more
