​I've been a loyal customer for years, ordering from OH to CA, but the customer service has completely deteriorated. On a previous order, they sent the wrong items, made me take photos of the shipping label and contents, and then sent rancid oils after a two-week wait. Most recently, I was shorted half of my online order, and customer service has ignored my outreach for three weeks. Combine this with their unstable retail locations and poor staff attitudes in-store, and it's clear they don't value retention. It's incredibly short-sighted to lose a long-term customer and earn a review like this over the cost of simply fulfilling an order correctly or doing the right thing to remedy the mistake. On , I visited your location with my family, including a young child. We've been loyal customers for years, but this experience was deeply disappointing. The two employees showed no greeting or offer of assistance. When we selected our fragrances, one repeatedly slammed the containers on the counter while asking curtly if it was 'good.' When we asked for help choosing an additive to make our shea butter change colors, she responded with visible attitude, poor body language, and vague directions like 'look over there' instead of simply telling us which color worked. When we asked for clarification, she became defensive, raised her voice, and said, 'I'm not acting like shit.' The manager attempted to intervene but the employee continued talking over her, then accused us of not wanting to pay. The situation escalated so badly that, for the sake of our child, we had to cancel our purchase and leave. This is a cute little shop to go to if you're in the market for some smell goods . I went with my homegirl who came into town. It is located inside the sugarloaf mall. You really don't make your own scents like I thought initially you just pick which scent you like the most . There was a customer service rep that was very helpful in helping us narrow down the scents as well. We opted for the roll on but there is a plethora of different ways you can get the oils . There also are bath bombs, scrubs , soaps , and sprays. I would try this out again for-sure when this one runs out . read more

One of my fav places to visit is the Oil Bar! It's therapeutic for me to mix and create my own scents...sugar cookie and lemongrass are my top go to! Unfortunately for some reason this location never have the roll on bottles ‍ I have traveled here twice and left empty handed and disappointed because they didn't have the roll on bottles to place the oils in. The young ladies gave me great customer service and offered to help me order online but I felt that was a huge inconvenience if I'm standing right in your store. This place is amazing. I came on a friends recommendation and they did not disappoint. The shop is located within a local mall so their hours may vary. I was assisted primarily by Allen but his co-worker (didn't get her name) was as responsive to helping me find the right scent combinations to elevate my energy and gain a lasting customer. Talk about customization! Share your ideal scents and be prepared to be delighted with complimentary fragrances that will make it hard to choose just one. Not to worry if you can't decide on one scent or combination because they offer different mediums to take them home, like shea butter, scrubs, and lotions to name a few. Now for the icing on the cake.... the oil bar offers a loyalty/membership program so I don't have to rack my brain trying to remember every scent I've purchased. I placed an order over a week ago. Recieved and email stating order is being shipped. The order was never shipped they just created a label for shipment. I called the store at the phone number that was online and spoke with a Zy. He then told me the order should have gone out, but he had to call his manager. Poor business services, I read another complaint similar to this on the BBB website. I definitely would not do business with them. They have no idea what they are doing and should not be taking online orders. read more

THE OIL BAR (WORST EXPERIENCE) The turn around time for online shipment orders are horrible. I went out town for a week Wed to Wed. First i went to the store they were out of the scent i wanted I was told to order and have it delivered. I placed my order Wednesday morning prior to leaving and planed to have it shipped to my destination. I received a message later the same day the 5th stating my order was being poured up and it wouldship in 24 hours. I receiveda messagefrom UPS stating a label was created for my order on the 5th. Here it is the 9th and no updates UPS states label was made but the packagehas not be received. I have talked to multiple people promising to look into it and give me a call back and no one has called. I have sent multiple emails with no response. I have sent messages on the supposedly 24 chat but it promised to respond to my question through email and per usually no one has responded. My trip will be ending soon without me even having the opportunity to use the fragrance I purchased for my trip. Not to mention me not even being at the location any longer and the package being delivered after my departure present a whole different issue that I must prepare myself for. THE OIL BAR SUCKS!!! Love the scents...would've rather drank a V8 over the recent guest experience! I've ordered from this company numerous times since the beginning of the pandemic and have usually had great success with receiving my items without any issues and within the timeframe that I've been advised. HOWEVER...this recent experience has left a very sour taste in my mouth! Having to spend a whole day investigating why my items were never shipped is one thing, but to also not feel appreciated for my patronage takes this rating from a 5-star down to a 3. The three is held because I do appreciate the variety of fragrances and have not received one I didn't genuinely love! If you need any suggestions, I recommend African Fantasy & Purple Rain! With that being said, ONLINE PATRONS, please provide yourself way more than enough time when placing an order, and also know that the shipping you pay for doesn't guarantee anything. UPS/USPS will get it when the location deems it, and if there is a mishap of supply, you also will not be advised or validated with your concerns. Just provided their "policy" instead of attempting to find a way to rectify the situation that appeals to the guest, and makes the guest feel like they are valued. Will I order again in the future...TBD. This is probably just me talking to a wall, as the reps I spoke with didn't really seem to care much, but hopefully, this will provide some insight for another patron. read more

Well well well. I have to say that this place is a gem. Why oh why, did my nosey behind, not go in here sooner? I constantly pass this shop (and manage to smell their soaps that are displayed outside,) when I am in the mall. I eat at the Thai Diner religiously, and always pass this place on my way to Cold Stone. I initially thought that this place was soaps and weird smelling essential oil products. So, I didn't give this place any credit. Now, I don't know what made me take my behind in here, but I did. Holy moly donut shop, I found the Holy Grail. I walked in and immediately went to a table full of oil. All kinds of fragrances were infused in the oil. Everything from honeysuckle to expensive type perfume, like Creed. Let me tell yall..... I love me some scented oil. I've been buying it since I was in my teens. My moms favorite, was that dang on Egyptian Musk. So, you can imagine my surprise and delight, when I saw that this place had all kinds of oil. This place lets you choose from the dozens of oil from the table, to be put into different size bottles. You can use these oils for diffusing, putting on your body, etc. They can mix the oil of your choice into soaps, body cream, fizzy balls, etc. I like to use it, by putting it in my dryer, on the wool balls. It makes your clothes smell dang on scrumptious. Anyway, this shop can also make you your own signature oil. You are able to mix fragrances or have the perfume expert make one for you! You sit down and tell the expert what type of smells you like. Then she have you choose what you want, and how much of a scent you want mixed! I didn't have it done, but I was there when the expert was helping a customer. The scents that I got was honeysuckle, women in black, crisp air, and Amber white. It smelled soooooo great that I went and bought two diffusers. I pit one downstairs and one in my room. Yoooooooooo, I ended up unplugging and putting my three wax burners away. These oils are so premium and potent! I am soooooo mad at myself for spending so much money on candles and waxes. All I had to do was be more nosey, come here, and be completely satisfied. I love this place. I am a forever fan and forever customer. I wish my mom was here. She wouldn't have left without buying the place. read more

Allen and Sahara were not only professional but they were also very knowledgeable of the products that are available and had great skills of pairing scents together to make the perfect unique scent for me and for my sister. I went into the Oil Bar after reading various reviews on Yelp. I was giving a birthday gift and just wanted something else to add to the bag. Sugarloaf Mall is very crowded on Saturday but I decided to go anyway. I called first and was told that the best entrance is 4 or 5. The shop offers oils, soaps, sprays and lotions. I tried various things but what impressed me most was the customer service. The gentleman that assisted me( didn't get the name) was very patient with me. He told me what was offered numerous times. I know I posed the same question over and over again. After I made my selections, a little for my friend and a lot for me, he wrapped the items as gifts(complete with tissue paper). The first time I came in was to buy my boyfriend 5 different oil scents, and I was clueless. This time I went to purchase 5 for myself, both times I was left very pleased with my purchases and the ease of it all. If I could give this establishment -5 stars, I would. I purchased about 5 bath bars, then 4 body oils. The associate advised me that there products were natural and they use jojoba as a carrier oil. My skin is not sensitive; although I try to use natural products because we shouldn't use things on our body that shouldn't be ingested. I thought there products would be a great fit. The next day I used both the cherry almond soap and then a cherry almond body oil blend (mix cherry + almond body oils). Showered with soap with no problem or incident. Applied the body oil to my necks and wrists as I'm accustomed to doing. 1 second after applying the fragranced body oil my neck started to burn. I washed it off with water and it still burned. I then used alcohol to wipe off, which provided some relief. My skin however remained red. Upon returning to the store to request a refund on the oils, the associate advised me that they don't provide refunds. It's one thing if I don't like it, but their product caused me harm. No refunds, how about an exchange for soap. That was a no as well. I'm telling all buyers to be very aware. Try out the product before leaving. I don't like companies that don't stand by the satisfaction of their products. For that, I'll never return. Only to walk past when I visit another establishment. The African store across the way sells scented oils, so I'll have to give them a try. read more

I love this place! Typically someone is standing at the front of the store. They have soaps in the entrance so someone is quick to greet you. They have so many oils and other natural products. I always wanted one of their body scrubs so I decided to buy. I did not know they add the ingredients right there. You can choose from the brown sugar or salt scrub. I was going to go with the brown sugar, but the representative told me the salt scrub comes with more such as the rosemary and oats. You can choose essential oils and a two fragrances. Since there were already oils I didn't add extra but I did add the fragrances. It took about 15 minutes for her to crush the salt and other products. I added lemon and lavender for my fragrances and it smells wonderful. When I finally tried the product it exceeded my expectations. Your skin is so soft and body smells amazing. I can't wait to go back and buy the Shea butter and face mask. read more

This is one of the coolest new stores in Sugarloaf Mills. It is a store that specializes in body oils. There is a large array of oils for every purpose, essential oils, massage oils, therapeutic oils, oils that replicate the scent of popular fragrances. They also sell soy candles, handmade soaps, candles and oil burners. This is not the store to run into and just start shopping. You really need to ask questions and get to know the products and options. You can select an oil that you like and have it added to shea butter, an atomizer or bubble bath solution. They even had roll on oils for specific issues, I applied the one for headaches and the one for energy. I didn't give it a second thought until hours later when I prepared to write the review and realized that I felt really good. Hmmmm, that 's weird but I couldn't really attribute the change to anything else. I am going to have to try that again because I need to know if there is really some connection. Stop by and check it out. The women in the store were very helpful and gave me a great deal of information about the various stations that they had set up and yes there is an actual bar! You would generally sit at the bar to test and mix products. I really did not sit because I was so busy wandering around and exploring it all. This would be a great way to pamper yourself or for you and your mate to spend some special time together custom creating scents. Remember, men like to smell nice too and this is a way for them to create something unique for themselves. What a great little place! I was getting ready to order some essential oils online but kept thinking "I wish I could smell this before buying it." So I googled "essential oils Duluth" and found The Oil Bar. It's near AMC theater at Sugarloaf Mills and the service is awesome. As you might guess, there's an actual bar where you can sample different oils and products before deciding. The options are great: Shea butters, lotions, synergy blends of essential oils, single oils, perfumes/colognes and even customized massage candles! The young man there was very polite and knowledgeable and walked me through the store, making suggestions based on what I was looking for. I left the store with 2 roll-on perfumes, synergy blends for respiratory and immunity support, and an unscented Shea butter for a great price. As soon as I left, I was kicking myself for not getting more things! I'll definitely return. read more

Visited the Arbor Place Mall location today and got the Shea butter with an oil added to it for a custom scent. Can't stop smelling myself not to mention a dab of it will moisturize both hands and arms. A little goes a long way. Will definitely be going back for more custom lotions. read more

I've walked in a few times and finally made a purchase. It's a tiny little store with a lot of things. I started out simple. I got their bubble bath which can also be a shower gel. I had then do a custom mix of lavender and lemon. It smells fantastic and isn't too harsh on my skin (sensitive skin.) I'll be back once I'm out of product. read more

I absolute love this place I feel when I come here I want everything. They have eucalyptus oil and other organic oils. The lady at this location gave me and my dude a candle that turns into massage oil and it was wonderful. I thought it would be hot once melted and it was warm and not to scorching to actually massage into the skin! Perfect idea because he doesn't call me the candle queen for anything! I looooovvvvve candles and also they have whipped Shea butter they customized all your soaps bottles and anything they offer in oil form! The service is impeccable there. The staff is so attentive. I bought the cherry almond soap and the scent is amazing. My skin usually requires a lot of moisture and the soap has left my shin feeling so incredibly soft prior to using my Shea butter.. Which also was whipped using their coalface essential oil. Literally knew every soap how it worked. Every fragrance. And where to locate it. And on top of that. She gave her undivided attention in assisting all customers.
