This place is unexpectedly AWESOME. I recommend making a reservation. The staff is friendly and on point. The ambience is cozy and adorable- keeping the old school theme. The food was mouthwatering delicious. We started with brussel sprout and Bangkok shrimp. My uncle frowned when I order the Brussels but ate most of them. He had the flounder - a generous portion provided and I ordered the ribeye- which was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed the surrounding patrons. We enjoyed side table conversations- the locals are bar-none. I can't wait for the breakfast menu - breakfast should be served starting in October. This is our second visit to The Old School House. I'm really surprised to find such a nice restaurant in such a small town. It is a happening little place. They were doing the business for a Thursday night. The good is good.....maybe not great. The staff was friendly and did a great job. They may not be the most professional.....they are all wearing just t-shirts and jeans. The history on the building is cool but they still have work to do to complete the remodeling. Amazingly food - best food I've had in South Carolina - what a surprise find in the countryside! Definitely worth a destination visit, and a lovely drive. Reservations a must, fills up fast! Service took forever and the food was cold when we received it. They offered to bring out twice baked potatoes in lieu of cold mash potatoes but it was sweet. Who wants a sweet twice baked potato? Not everyone got food we ordered in time to even eat it with the group even though we ordered the same thing. Still charged full price inspite of this. What a hidden gem. They have been open since January 2022 and I hope they continue to stay open. Old school house remodeled while keeping their history and turned into an amazing restaurant. Their chef is truly talented. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about their food, for any of the dishes at our table of 4, including salads and appetizers. Every meal was absolutely delicious, fresh, amazing flavor combinations, portion size, temperature and attention to detail. Same goes for their drinks. We got 2 of their seasonal cocktails and 1 off their regular menu. They were all amazing! Perfect amount of alcohol and beautifully garnished. Great for groups, family, date night and anything in between. I would recommend to make a reservation. The bar area is near the entrance and does not interfere with the dinning main areas. FIRST VISIT in September 2023 - Coming home from a road trip on a Saturday night, we spotted an old school that had been converted to a restaurant and took a chance. We were extremely pleased with our experience. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food we received. The employees were very friendly and the service was efficient. The ambience was perfect for a family setting. We knew we would be returning. *RATING - FIVE STARS SECOND VISIT in October 2023 - Well - things have certainly changed! Five weeks later, another road trip, another Saturday night - this time around 8:00. We were immediately told that only two servers showed up for work so we might have to wait for our food. That is fine because we knew from our past experience that croissants were served while we waited for our meal. We were seated at a table near the bar (only two of us), our drink order was taken (water) and WE were told they were out of croissants. Thirty-five minutes later the bartender dropped by to see if our order had been taken - it had not, so he took our order, after telling us that the entrée that my husband had chosen was no longer available along with a couple of other menu items. Immediately after the bartender left our table, another employee came to take our order and offered us a free dessert since we had been waiting so long. Twenty minutes later, an employee from the kitchen brought my husband's entrée to him, told him that his side item was no longer available, then turned to me to tell me that my meal item was no longer available either. What?? Knowing that free dessert was on the way and that my husband would be finished with his meal pretty quickly, I only ordered a small side item. (So many customers had left by this time that one of the employees had joined the people at the table next to us for a chat.) Thirty minutes later, still no dessert (because who wants to beg for a free dessert) and the bartender noticed that we were finished with our meal. He brought our check - which still had my original meal item listed. My husband had the check corrected, paid the bill (along with a 30% tip for the bartender who was doing the work of three people), and left. An hour and a half after entering the restaurant we left with both us extremely disappointed and me still hungry after having only a ramekin of cheese grits for a meal. We try hard to support local businesses and had hoped to recommend The Old Schoolhouse Restaurant to friends. It also would have been the perfect location to meet family from Columbia here as a "let's meet halfway" place to gather for a meal. We have changed our mind. *RATING - ONE STAR read more

Don't waste your time! You call to make a reservation your on the phone for 30 mins while they try to find something, then you come in at your told time and people are still sitting at the table that was "supposed" to be reserved! Another couple in front of us same thing! When they asked what was taking so long the owner miss Ann got pretty rude and looked like she was way to stressed out to do her job. We've tried giving this place a chance this was our 4th and last time ever going, after waiting an hour and 10 mins mine and my husbands food was the wrong thing that we didn't order, The servers are telling us stuff that is going on about everyone, how the cook just comes when he wants, always had a reason to be out which is why food takes so long, and now I hear the main cook quit. I definitely couldn't give this place another try if I wanted to now. There's no telling how long the food will take how half the presentation will probably be there the food takes OVER AN HOUR even for the simplest stuff, then if you ask for extra rolls bc your food is taking FOREVER they have to charge you for a whole basket, or they don't make enough for the night and there out close to 7-730 before it even closes. Apparently the same lady that was and is at the cheeseburger house that was proudly waving her rebel flag around that got half of ninety six mad, oh yeah she helps miss Ann at this restaurant running it. So I definitely will take my business else where, once I seen her come walking through the dinning room I said I'd never be back and a few of my couples I go out with have agreed to not waste our time back here. Don't get us wrong the building looks like, the food smells good, and the service seems like it's there, but the attitude, the I'm better than you I get from miss Ann I could never be like that running a business. Seems a little to stuck up for my liking. I like an owner who actually engages with everyone the same not walk around and only speak to people you know and hang out at there table for 15 mins while I'm waiting to tell someone my whole order is wrong. I feel like if they don't already know you, you get a different experience. But I will say our server THIS time was the best I've ever had I believe her name was Ashley. All the others ones have attitudes they smile as soon as they come up to the table for the first time and then after that it's an attitude like I'm bothering them by being there spending my money. The last time I came it started out a good experience and the server I had Kourtney (with a k) she has to tell you that 10 times in a night, was very friendly bring our drinks and getting the order, after that we waiting an hour in refill, when the food came she didn't bring it, but came to table I told her I NEVER got my salad and her tone instantly flipped like you didn't have one.
