Curtis has always had friendly staff and very clean . If you've stayed here before, everything is very different . Especially the hallways but most things got updated carpet really needed it.

Walking into the Brown Palace Hotel, I was immediately taken aback by the stunning historic architecture and gorgeous interior design. Since I arrived well before check-in, I grabbed a bite to eat and relaxed in the cozy sitting area near the Ship Tavern to kill some time. When I finally went to the front desk, my room was ready. However, after heading upstairs, I realized that while I had paid for an executive room, I was assigned a standard room. I went back down, and the desk agent kindly adjusted my rate. Around 12:30 PM, I went to the room to refresh for my birthday festivities and walked into a total comedy of errors in the bathroom. First, I went to use the toilet paper, pulled the roll, and the middle inner spring popped right out--refusing to stay put no matter how many times I tried to wedge it back in. Defeated, I just placed the loose roll on the bathroom sink and called down. Maintenance came up quickly and had to laugh, confirming the whole fixture needed replacing because the part was wrong for the setup. Second, when I tried to open the glass shower door, it scraped against the granite tile with a horrible screeching noise. After 30 minutes of troubleshooting, maintenance determined the door was a safety issue, removed it, and told me to head back to the front desk. By this point, I had visited the front desk a few too many times on my birthday, but a huge shout-out to Matthew. He was the absolute highlight of the check-in process--immensely polite, professional, and genuinely apologetic. He handed me a key to a new room without saying much--and when I opened that door? Oh my goodness. It was an incredible suite, absolute perfection, and completely breathtaking. To top it all off, when I returned to the room later that evening, a sweet little complimentary birthday treat was waiting for me on the nightstand. The hotel stumbled out of the gate with a rocky start, but they handled it with true grace, went above and beyond, and completely saved my birthday celebration. I will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, the experience only went downhill from there. The shower took forever to get hot and room service didn't exist. On a Sunday morning, we were told there simply was no room service available. For the price and reputation, this stay completely missed the mark.

The stay was adequate but I probably won't stay here again…read more The lobby isn't very big which isn't good when a lot of people are checking in/out at the same time or there's meetings. The staff was nice but not to the level I expect from a Hyatt. You can drop your luggage if your room isn't ready yet BUT IT ISN'T SECURED. The luggage is just behind the check in desk and is open on one side. This made me very nervous because someone could walk off with your bag depending on where behind the desk it lands. The room was ok. The bed wasn't very comfortable, maintenance had to come up on the first night to fix the water pressure in the shower and the clogged drain in the sink, there is no mini fridge, just a cooler, which doesn't really cool, the coffee station is only accessible if the bathroom door is closed, they don't have liquid coffee Creamer, and the complementary water is Aquafina (gross). It is centrally located and is just one block from the 16th Street mall that has free bus service up and down the road.

We immediately loved our room which combines the cool rustic vibe of a historic sleeper car on a Pullman train with all the modern amenities, including embedded reading lights on the headboard of the bed. My only critique is that the bed mattress was too squishy, but we were too tired to care too much. Great water pressure in the shower. Appreciate the blackout curtains. Complimentary water bottles in the fridge. And Cooper cocktail bottles that cost $25 each if you choose to indulge. Our hotel stay comes with discounts at various businesses inside of the Union Station, which is great also. Highly recommend!

Location-wise, it was great--only about a 10-minute walk to the convention center and very convenient for anyone visiting the 16th Street Mall. That said, this hotel is not convenient for dogs at all. There is literally nowhere on or around the property for dogs to go potty. The only nearby patch of grass has a "no dogs" sign, which was frustrating. We ended up walking two blocks to an ACE Hardware just to find a spot for our dogs to go. If you're traveling with pets, this is a major drawback. Our room itself was fine and spacious for what we needed. The lobby is pretty and inviting, and there's a coffee shop downstairs--but it's for pay only. I personally find it ridiculous that Courtyard Marriotts don't offer complimentary brewed coffee in the lobby. To make matters worse, the coffee shop doesn't open until 7am on weekends and 6am on weekdays, which isn't ideal for early mornings. For meals, there's a restaurant called Tequilas attached to the lobby, which is convenient if you want lunch or dinner without leaving the building. Parking, however, is expensive--over $40 per night. Overall, it wasn't an awful stay. The location and room size worked well for our trip, but I wouldn't recommend this particular location if you're traveling with pets.

There is a microwave in the front lobby for guest use. Cons: - The hotel is located in a weird area with some shady characters walking around nearby. I wouldn't recommend walking to nearby restaurants. Instead, take your car. - My boyfriend's Dad had a few issues with his room and had to call for the engineer to hook up his television and to repair the thermostat. - There are no hotel shuttles to the airport. We used Lyft. There are taxis available but they are much more expensive. The airport is 30+ minutes away. - The restaurant staff were overwhelmed and service was slow. The pillows, meh. Everything else in the room was good. Shower was hot and water pressure was substantial. The pool was closed for cleaning. Figures. The $20 per night parking fee was uncalled for. I thought Covid era money grabs were over, not in Denver. Wouldn't stay there again. Would pay the extra $20 to stay somewhere else.
