The Omni King Edward Hotel is undeniably a stunning piece of Toronto's history. From the moment you walk into the lobby, the Edwardian architecture, ornate stone columns, and rich old-world charm make a grand first impression. The property's location on King Street East is fantastic--it is highly central in the financial district and just a short walk to Union Station and the St. Lawrence Market. The accommodations are also lovely; my room was spacious, perfectly clean, and managed to blend classic traditional aesthetics with modern amenities seamlessly. However, the morning service at Victoria's Restaurant significantly brought down the overall experience. Given the hotel's storied luxury status as the city's first palace hotel, I expected a much higher culinary standard. I opted for the Plant Based Tofu Scramble and the Avocado on Sourdough tartine. Unfortunately, the execution fell entirely flat. The scramble lacked any real depth of flavor, and the sourdough was surprisingly soft and soggy rather than having the crisp, satisfying crunch you would expect from a freshly toasted tartine. Additionally, the dining room lacked any real ambiance--it felt more like a standard, uninspired corporate continental setup rather than a five-star morning experience. It is a beautiful, historic property with wonderful rooms and a prime location, but they seriously need to rethink and elevate their morning dining to match the prestige of the rest of the building. read more

However I will say the restaurant for this Omni, was amazing! It's so nice not needing to ask for a seasoned food! Even the vegetables were seasoned! I know it may have just been garnished, but I ate the carrot, asparagus and the broccoli! They were so freaking tasty! But I think that's a Canadian thing to use seasonings. Our return visit to the King Edward was great, right from pulling up to the main entrance on King St. We were greeted by Sean, whose welcoming personality is obvious. He seamlessly took care of our luggage, valet parking, and directed us to a quick check-in at the front desk. We went to a beautiful 6th floor room and our bags followed shortly. Everything in the room was clean and working well. A note on the refrigerator said for energy conservation it shuts off every three hours, but you can get a standard one just by asking. We asked and it was there shortly. The maid cheerful gave us extra towels and coffee pods. It's nice when you call the front desk for anything, that they know your name. Makes you fell like a appreciated guest. We had a nice breakfast in the bar area one morning. We ordered off the menu vs an offered buffet. The second morning, I picked up a lighter (and much cheaper) Tim Hortons breakfast at a location just across the street. We also had a pre-theater meal in the bar area. French Onion soup and Korean lettuce wraps were great. The staff of the Omni creates a very welcoming atmosphere. I can't think of anything negative about our stay! read more

I spent 4 days at the King Edward Hotel. I was privileged enough to get to stay here for work for a crazy week of back to back conference, one of them being at the hotel as well. Service at the hotel is impeccable. Truly top notch. When I arrived my bags were taken and brought up to my room which was great. Check in was fast and smooth. I was really impressed with the great service. The lobby is beautiful. Early morning they have complimentary coffee and during the day they have complimentary beverages. I really enjoyed my stay, the pillows were amazing. I bought one online because I was obsessed. The only thing I thought was a drawback was the washroom space. The door was just in the way and to navigate to the sink was quite difficult and I'm a tiny girl. It was just hard to get ready in the morning. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay. What a great place to stay in downtown Toronto. The lobby is elegant and all inclusive. We arrived during Pride week and they were all out celebrating. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable about where to go and what to do. Its walking distance to movie theater, bars and markets. Lots of places to eat also. The best part was the beds were amazing and offered us a restful nights sleep. We didn't want to leave the bed!! LOL the bathroom had the basics and everything was clean. They do give you complimentary water bottles. We ordered room service a chicken cesar salad. Its $50 Canadian dollars. We would stay here again. Great services and location. read more

While I did the research to narrow down this place it's worth mentioning that this town does afternoon tea everywhere priced with in the same ballpark. The service was fine and so was the presentation but the food was lacking. Desserts were either too sweet or the savories were cold ugh. The scones were not good and tasted like soft biscuits. Tea was fine. It was a nice surprise to get the chef to come out to the dining area to talk to us. I told her this was my son's 1st tea event and it was a real hit or miss with him. He loved the hot chocolate with marshmallows but didn't really enjoy his tower much except for 1 dessert. He actually said to me that his desserts were too sweet lol. Stayed here recently and it was such a great experience! First off, the room was huge, bigger than we expected. The hotel is right in downtown, so we could just walk to restaurants, bars, and shops. Super convenient location. One thing I thought was really fun--the whole place has a chess/king theme. There were decorative chess pieces and royalty symbolism all over the hotel. We chose the King Edward because it was perfectly located in the middle of downtown with a short walk to most things were interested in doing. The check in process was quick and the front desk were very professional and wonderful. The lobby was very chic and beautiful. Definitely a fun spot to stop and take a photo. Our room was also flawless and clean. They also had two bathrooms so that someone could still use the restroom in private if another is showering. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were super plush. We loved everything about the room other than the view. We got a view of nothing so we kept the windows blinds closed. I stayed here recently for a long weekend. All of the staff here was friendly & helpful. I have to give a special shout out to Andrea & Rose at the Mokara Spa! They were exceptional. Andrea made me feel relaxed as soon as I entered the spa. If you are considering getting a massage, do it! The hotel has a great location downtown very near a subway station so everything is very walkable. I had dinner at the restaurant one evening & it was really good and reasonably priced. The only bad thing during my stay was a wedding on the rooftop that was very loud in my room. The front desk staff was great in trying to make me feel comfortable despite the loud music. Stayed here for a few days and it was a comfortable stay. They do charge for Wi-Fi, but they offer it for free if you sign up for their members program. They supposedly reimburse you if you sign up, but I was still charged. I have to call to get that refunded. The rooms were decent, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. They don't offer valet, so if you're parking you'll have to find a garage. We found one about 2 blocks away for $25 a night. read more

I checked in with no issues after booking a stay via Amex. I was upgraded to a deluxe King suite and it was so spacious. Also loved the Nest products and prompt housekeeping. I also took advantage of the gym access on the mezzanine floor. It had a ton of equipment - I was the only one there when I used it. I stayed here for three nights. I tried to avoid the hotel where my big international conference was going on as I traveled with my wife. It was a perfect choice. The hotel is quiet and yet convenient. Walking distance to the city hall, Eaton shopping center and theaters like Princess of Wales. You can take care of business and have fun in this hotel. The Premiere room was clean, bed was comfortable. Staffs are extremely efficient, professional and friendly. Enjoyed talking to them and was helped with adequate advice. I will book this hotel again when I will be back in Toronto in September. Use the parking building next to the hotel. It is convenient and costs like 20 US dollars a day. read more

A classic hotel in Toronto that gets the details right. Despite the hotel hosting a lot of guests, I heard no noise in my room other than the occasional door closing down the hall. Every employee I encountered seemed genuinely interested in making sure that I enjoyed my stay. Let's get real. Since I have been on this naturopathic food-as-a-medicine life, my food universe reduced significantly. With all that said, sometimes a girl just want to treat yo' self! Here is where King Edwards Afternoon tea comes in. To my surprise, they are able to accommodate all my strange dietary needs. Say what? Ya! I was extremely impressed. Most items were actually made fresh in the kitchen as well. I was stunned! Needless to say, the ambience is both Victorian and relaxed. Staff was fantastic. We had the most fascinating conversation about religion and diet with the service staff. As soon as I sat down, I was served a complimentary refreshing tea with tapioca pearls. The afternoon tea included open face sandwiches (cucumber with watermelon radish, grilled peppers, vegan slaw and avocado slices), two sweet raisin scones with house made jam, chocolate dipped strawberry, cake pop, almond cake with gooseberry, chocolate cakelette and matcha tart. The staff offered to make a tea for me to-go as it was a cold rainy evening. It was an unbelievably kind gesture and was deeply appreciated. We had the Christmas buffet. My son and I got violently ill. The only thing that we had that my daughter did not was the turkey. No one was eating the turkey it hadn't been carved. I guess that should have been a clue. Our reservations were at the end of the night so maybe it was just sitting out too long. When I told the front desk they said that no one else got sick. And I said because no one else was eating the turkey. And she said she would tell her manager. Her manager basically told me I was lying. So I told them to check the tapes in the dining area and they could see that no one was eating the turkey and that my son and I were the first ones to do it and it was at the end of the night. I've passed through Toronto a few times before, but this was my first chance for a weekend stay. I booked the Omni King Edward because I thought it had the perfect balance of elegance, comfort, location, and price (when you find a good deal). The lobby is an inviting space with plenty of seating and the hotel as a whole is easy on the eyes. Almost every aspect of the room was stellar with the only minor issue being not enough lighting. The bed felt comfortable, allowing me to enjoy two nights of restful sleep. The quality of the water in the shower was excellent too; not a drop of hard water to speak of. Even the room temperature was just right and didn't feel dry. Their gym has a good variety of machines, weights, and extras (exercise balls/mats/bands, etc.) so I was able to do my entire ultra lazy workout routine. They should have a spa next year, so that'll be something to look forward to. One major letdown is the hotel only has valet parking, but since we're friends I'll let you in on a little secret (but let's keep it between us). Right around the corner on Church St. is an entrance to a small public (first two floors) and private parking garage. I paid $23 for almost 2 days worth of parking. Deal! Shhh! The hotel is well situated and close to all the action. With a streetcar and subway near the hotel entrance, it was easy to get around the city. I'd like to stay here again next time I'm in town. On a side note, I drove into the city at night on the Gardiner Expressway and let me tell you, it was surreal and stunning. Try it. read more

Review is for high tea service only: Overall had a pretty pleasant experience. Only negatives were that you weren't really allowed to switch to different teas throughout service. We asked the server and he hesitantly said we could if we really wanted to. We ended up sticking to one tea each. Ordered 2x king's tea set for wife & myself at $68 per set Wife got heavenly cream tea which tastes exactly like it sounds, creamy. I got the king Edwards blend which imo a more drinkable tea after a few cups. Lots of tea selection. Decided not to order the garden tea as it was the vegetarian option and the substitutions didn't sound overly great. The food was quite good! Sandwiches were delicious and well sized. 2 types of scones with Devonshire cream and lemon curd. Variety of pastries to satisfy your sweet tooth. Overall atmosphere was very relaxed and casual.
