I've seen a few different waxers over the years, and I can honestly say every single gal is excellent and skilled at her job. Now that I've been to another location I know Jen, the owner, has set the bar high for all her locations, and that same level of care and cleanliness that I've come to know is consistent. As always the receptionist friendly, the vibe energizing, the merchandise adorable, and the place clean and organized. Jen had poured her heart and soul into her business and it's shown. At the start of the appointment my stylist repeatedly made faces at my requests, which made me un-easy, though I tried to stay open minded throughout the appointment. Unfortunately, the appointment started 15 minutes late and ran over by more than two hours. During that time, the stylist also took another client, and later admitted that part of my treatment - which should've been done during the foiling process - was skipped because that client arrived while I was still processing. I requested light brown - caramel highlights, but instead received dark chocolate brown low lights with a blue-black color layered over the top. My scalp is tinted blue and was told that the highlights appeared darker because I was "over-toned". I was also told the color should hopefully wash out over time. I was shown the results outdoors with a hand mirror because the highlights were too hard to see indoors - yet even in sunlight they were barely visible. I asked for a price adjustment, as I was charged $84/hr and the appointment went significantly over the scheduled time. I was also charged an additional $54 for a haircut that took less than 15 min to complete. While I was given the slight adjustment, I still paid $364 in total, even after the adjustment. I still tipped, as the stylist spent a lot of time on my hair and I could tell she was trying to achieve a difficult color correction. I've gone to many stylists over the years and understand the challenge of lifting a box black dye to blonde or even light brown for highlights. I felt she made a strong effort in that regard and wanted to acknowledge the work she put in - even though the end result didn't reflect what I asked for. I was offered a future appointment to correct the highlight color, but was told I'd have to pay another $100+ for the stylists mistake. I've decided to cancel the appointment I'd made for September. I regret booking it in the first place, but I already felt uneasy asking for the price adjustment and didn't want to make things more uncomfortable - especially since they stayed late for the appointment. I would ask for a refund or partial refund, but fear I wouldn't get it as I could hear them whispering when I asked for the price adjustment. Definitely scheduling elsewhere to have what was done to my hair corrected.

I asked for natural glam and a braid with curls (my hair is thin so I was worried about the braid but oh man- she is so good with hair!). I got gel nails done by Salem once and several of them lifted and peeled the next day and I was able to go back and have those ones redone with no charge and with apologies from the manager. Owning up to mistakes (they happen everywhere) is important. That is the only instance that has happened with gel nails, so it was more about the application and is not their standard. Favorite Nail tech: BAILEY. She deserves her own 5 stars. she is good at her job, easy to talk to, made time to do a last minute polish change for me, and also doesn't mind if you read the whole time either. I smudged a nail an hour or so after my appt once (they felt dry but hey, mistakes happen like I said), and I sheepishly turned around and asked if Bailey could fix the one nail. One thing I think is helpful to know is their polish takes an hour to dry unless you buy Dazzle Dry, which is an extra $5 per service.
