Cheyenne works very hard trying to get my color "just right". Nice to have a quiet spot in Wellington.

I have been a regular at Namaste Salon for the past ... five? six? ... years? However, my stylist…read morethrough all those years recently decided to move to another salon in the area to shorten her commute. While I will follow her to the new salon, if I have any problems there or anything changes such that I need a new stylist I will not hesitate to come back to Namaste. I have to commend them in particular for their handling of COVID precautions throughout the pandemic. I was particularly nervous about whether it was worth the risk to get my hair done when things first started opening back up after the lockdown last spring, but decided to give it a try after talking through all of the precautions they were taking with my stylist. They were limiting the number of clients/stylists/other staff in the salon, requiring masks, doing temperature checks and waivers before you came into the salon, and asking everyone to wash their hands upon first entering the salon. I could see that they had implemented new disinfection procedures for common-use items (pens, bowls/brushes for color, maybe combs and such? There were stacks of bins with these materials by the sink ...) and were disinfecting chairs in between clients. My stylist's normal station was the one closest to the door, but she moved me to one of the upstairs stations so I wouldn't be in the high traffic area while my color was processing (generally at least 1.5 if not 2 hours). They kept up these precautions all the way through my last appointment at the end of March. I'm sure things will be getting back to normal, now that people are getting vaccinated and the state and county are easing public health restrictions, but I appreciated their commitment to doing things right -- not just the COVID precautions, but doing right by their clients, as well. Although I had already received a text from my stylist letting me know that she was moving, the salon did call me to let me know. They offered to rebook me with another stylist if I preferred, but no pressure. I know that this can be a cutthroat business -- at a previous salon I found out about my stylist pursuing other career opportunities when I showed up for an appointment and found they had "done me the favor" of rebooking me with the stylist that they just hired -- so I appreciate the way Namaste handled this. Having said all of that, I will leave you with a parking tip -- schedule your appointments for the evenings or Saturdays so you can easily park in the courthouse parking lot, which is just a block away (but from the end of May to early October make sure to schedule around the Saturday morning Farmers' Market).

It's taken me a long time to decide to post this. However, trusting in and often relying upon word…read moreof mouth recommendations, I felt it more beneficial than not to tell potential new clients of my experiences with DONNA AT ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS SALON in Fort Collins, CO. She does not LISTEN to clients!!! NEGATIVE-Bad color experience with DONNA'S error. Further, and far more impressionable, was the disappointing and unprofessional manner she choose to fix HER mistake. Of point, I made clear at the appointment, my dissatisfaction and dislike of how dark my hair had turned out. After she agreed for me to come back in to the salon so she could "see what she could do," she processed my original ask and unapologetically proceeded to CHARGE ME again for HER mistake!!!!! However, this time, "just for the color." Negative - - - AGAIN!!!! This time a HAIRCUT. I really wanted to work towards establishing a permanent stylist/client relationship. That's why I scheduled another appointment with her. OMG! Donna completely botched the haircut so badly that the style I desired was now unachievable. She butchered my hair! Absolute worst haircut of my life!!!!! It will literally be YEARS before my hair grows out enough to support the style I wanted. Just after she made her first cuts, she and I both know the huge mistake she had made. She declared, "I'm an idiot!" I presented with medium length, non-layered, healthy hair. My request, pictures in hand, was a MID LENGTH ANGLED BOB!!!! Initially very achievable! That idea is now years.....away..... Very nice person! BUT...Caution, caution, caution if your appearance, especially your hair, is of any importance to you, Donna is NOT your stylist. I'm now spending a fortune on hair growth supplements, shampoos, conditioners, and doctors to expedite growth. BEWARE

Overall, I had a very disappointing experience at The Cutlery Salon. I can only speak for my…read moreparticular stylist, since all of the staff here work independently. I saw one of the new owners, Dana. I think the issues began during the consultation. I showed her some pictures from Pinterest of some classic blonde styles. I mentioned that I was interested in having more lowlights added to my hair. Dana agreed that my hair needed "more dimension" and then proceeded to ask me some technical questions about how I wanted her to process my hair. I didn't realize it until later that she was creating a rooty blonde look. I know that it's a trend at the moment, but I don't think it was clearly communicated to me that this was look she was hoping to achieve. She proceeded to dye my entire head a dark brown color and then added blonde highlights. While this wasn't the style that I wanted, I had two larger issues with the experience. One was the execution of my look and second was that occasionally her comments felt condescending. She repeatedly said that my hair looked brassy when I came in, yet the brown she chose had reddish overtones. The blonde near my roots had a slight copper tinge to them as if it didn't process long enough. When I got home, I still had dye smeared on my face near my roots. I believe that this may have been an off day for her, but the resulting look I thought was worse than what I walked in with. I didn't notice the issues as much until I saw my hair in indoor lighting. The sloppy execution was pretty noticeable. Had I noticed these issues in the salon, I would've said something. Additionally, I felt that some of her comments further detracted from my experience. She seemed to form an opinion of my financial situation based on the fact that it's been several months since I had my hair cut and highlighted, stating "if you're on a budget" during our conversation. She continued in this manner of speaking to me when I asked for restaurant recommendations in Fort Collins. To Dana's credit, when I called to ask for more highlights, she did return my call, but by that point I decided that I needed a second opinion due to how poor my original experience had been. I went to a different salon where the stylist confirmed that wrong color of brown had been chosen and the blonde hadn't processed long enough. He meticulously colored over all of the brownish red and copper tones in my hair, so that I wouldn't have two layers of outgrowth. He treated me and my hair with the utmost care. Please save yourself the money and angst by choosing a different stylist or salon.
