Has the comical flair of "Bike Snob". What is not to like?
    John S.

FIRST IMPRESSION: Although I had passed through in the area in the past while on trips to hike or skywatch at Vasquez Rocks, Saturday, June 26, 2021 was my first ever visit here. Sort of comical, I did I come away from thia experience happy but, also mad. I was happy based on my total experience and mad that I had not visited sooner. STAFF WOWING AFFECT: Yes, they truly wowed as I found them all to be extremely knowledgeable and familiar with every aspect of this shop. They were also quite enthusiastic and overall very upbeat. These type employees always make for the best encounters. Their job was to sell books and they did just that effortlessly. APPEARANCE: I loved that they had signs hanging from the ceiling that defined the various sections of the store. They also had blackboards areas where colored chalk is turned into attractive, artistic signage. I will note that this was an impeccably clean store, unlike B&N where from time to time you can find a coffee cup and/or a napkin here or there. RESTROOMS: I believe I spotted a sign stating that the shop didn't have a restroom for it's customers but, I am not 100% on this one. PARKING: This shop is situated in a stripmall, so the parking is merely steps from the front door and in grand abundance. HOURS ON MY VISIT: I was there on a Saturday and they stayed open until 1900 hours (7 P.M.) IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW: This shop hosts author signings. Information for any and all events can found on their social media pages (IG/FB). IT'S ON SALE: There is a sale every day of the week on one genre or another ans there is even a dsy qhen CDs, DVDs and LP go on sale... EVERY DAY... REALLY! If you haven't shopped here and you have a heartbeat AND you are reading this you really have to be asking yourself LOYALTY PROGRAM: For ever ten dollars you spend you receive a stamp on a card that is conveniently shaped like a bookmark (imagine that ingenuity!). Get ten stamps and it is redeemable for a five dollar book of your choice (I like this concept also used at Fatburger). RARE BOOKS: Even though I didn't purchase anything from this area, I found plenty that I already owned in their impressive collection (as a book collector this always lends to me a warm comforting feeling). This includes the only other copy of book by William Harrison Ainsworth that I have ever come across. (mine is an 1836... can't recall what theirs was... 1830-something or another). THE HAUL: I left with books on the history of L.A., the TCM Christmas movie book, a vocabulary builder, Bauermeister's The Scent Keeper, four books for children, the DVD Hook (to soon be shown at the 2021 B.F.F. (Backyard Film Festival)) and lastly some accomplishment stickers. END GAME: I would highly recommend this shop to all bibliophiles as it is well worth your time. Noting that I, personally, look forward to becoming a "repeat offender" here. THANKS: Thanks for reading along this far. As for me... this is just another successful book seeking road trip adventure.... IN THE BOOKS. Cheers!

Yelp 2018 Challenge (13 of 100) Not everyone likes to use a Kindle to read books and there is is something about books that you don't experience from an electronic reader. If you dogear the page on your Kindle you are probably going to need to replace the device. This is a good find if you are looking for a good price on a used book. What I noticed right away is a cool archway at the front doors made of books and I thought that was a nice touch especially if you are a parent with a young kid to show them something to get them into a book. They had a really good selection of various categories of books, fiction and non-fiction, self-help and cookbooks, kids books and others. There were some worn older editions, but not as many as I have seen in some stores. And pretty good prices on books that were in a very new condition. I would say if you need a book to read don't head directly for the Barnes and Noble in Valencia, come here first.

The cool kids club. You can literally get a 5$ book for free . Hint* a lot of books here are 5$. Do the math

They have quite a variety of books, they even have a game section, music section, and a Starbucks inside. It's quite a peaceful place to be. Staff are always helpful and everything is well maintained and organized. I love that their staff also recommends their book pick of the month observing from what genre of books you've bought and recommends stuff. Keep in mind that this adds up quickly! At any rate, the reason I gave this location 1 s tar is because I sense, to say the least, too much dishonesty in terms of bags. Every time I go here, they always say they are out of bags. Tonight, I purchased a STACK of books and had to manage carrying them out without dropping them all over the place. As usual, I asked for a bag, and even though my bill tonight was $155.81, I STILL got the deceitful obligatory "We ran out of bags" again. They say this ALL the time! How ironic that I get the SAME response every time. I wonder when management will just stop telling staff to lie to customoers and just tell the truth. If you no longer furnish bags, then say it, but please STOP lying to me! You NEVER have bags, regardless of what time of day I buy books there. I think that's very deceitful, and you might remember that I, as do others, have CHOICES where we spend our money. #RefuseToBeDupedAgain

This place is quaint, and when I popped in it was pretty busy with a small tournament and it had a positive atmosphere even though that's not my thing. The place was pretty full, and consists of a comic/inventory wall, a countertop, a couple of stands, and a bunch of foIding tables. I would guess it is ideal for Dungeon and Dragons fans for supplies and tournaments and not much beyond except a small inventory of graphic novels that are reasonably priced. This shop does not have a lot of things such as a vast array of comics, or a wide variety of titles, but for a guy, this is worth a pop in, but keep expectations low. The giant man behind the counter was courteous but a bit peculiar too, but I kept it moving. The place isn't flashy, but rather seems sort of a "industrial suite" that wasn't completed, and was filled with comics, and is sort of empty and isn't really for kids but rather man-children/nerds/enthusiasts, and I would ESPECIALLY AVOID THE BATHROOM if you're a FEMALE. You've been warned. Got my son some comics and my daughter some Pokémon cards here, and will likely return.

Every semester after my first for the last year has been frustrating. I've been giving the wrong textbook for a class. I've been given a code for a class that was entirely unnecessary and didn't work in the first place. So far I haven't been told I can't return something and get my money back, which is a relief. I would highly recommend getting your textbooks before classes start and possibly emailing your teachers to find out if you really need the book or not. It truly just depends on the class. Waiting in that line at any point during the first week is brutal and frankly not worth it. I'd rather go through the trouble of returning a book I don't need than waiting until the last minute. Overall, I just feel that some of the people who were here almost two years ago were better trained. There have been multiple people who don't know how to do something when it comes to the actual textbook transactions. Things like snacks and drinks are no issue. I like the overall atmosphere of the store, I just wish it were larger and that they were a little more on top of the procedures on textbooks.

My choice was the classic cheeseburger (Angus beef patty, shredded lettuce, tomato, house pickle, onion, cheddar, 1,000 island, brioche bread) at $10.50, with fries (additional $4.50). The burger was well prepared, juicy, not over cooked, tasty and skillfully constructed. What stood out was the thick fresh moist tomato that imparted flavor with every bite. The fries were over priced and a disappointment. Same for the service, which was hurried, indifferent and in need of more refinement. Otherwise, a nice place, different type of ambiance, that is both bright, relaxing and peaceful.

Rebecca is AMAZING!…read more My high schooler is taking advantage of a program through LA Mission where she can take college classes that will count for both High School and towards an AA. But one of the books for her classes was not in stock. We spoke to Rebecca and only then realized that the purchase order for all of my daughter's books, though submitted, had not yet been received by the bookstore. Technically we should have been told, "So sorry, can't help you. Go home, wait for the P.O. to come through and then come back." But Rebecca was too good for that. She looked over the P.O. and confirmed that my daughter was a student. She then made a copy and said she'd take care of the paperwork for the three books that were in stock once the P.O. arrived and let she us take those home. She also took my name and number and called me 10 days later when the last book finally arrived. When I showed up to retrieve the book Rebecca was on the phone but recognized me, put the caller on mute for a second and directed me upstairs to the book. As I walked past her on my way down she handed me a note that helped speed up and simplify my checkout. Rebecca is absolutely amazing. She makes the bookstore and LA Mission a little bit sweeter.
