Stacey and SMS staff are fantastic. I faithfully watch Stacey's on-line classes which are 2 to 2/12 hours. She is very thorough as well as creative. A class of this quality would cost about $30 per session. Furthermore, upfront on her videos and web page, she explains shipping policy. Of course during the pandemic, there were longer waiting periods of shipping delays. Never did I think was being scammed. This company is heavily pushing Sizzix products because the owner, Stacey Park, has become a licensed designer for Sizzix, so it is a conflict of interest. Shipping times for Sizzix orders are expedited, while other online orders from other vendors or merchandise sold in their online store are pushed back to shipping times of 30 days to more than 6 months. By the time you receive your delayed orders, the desire to have those items have been lost or forgotten. Orders can't be cancelled by the customer for refund, so your funds are held hostage for many months. This company appears to be using customer funds to help with negative cash flow. read more

Plenty of free parking with no time limits because they have their own parking lot. This shop is in a center with 4 different food establishments. YES! If you're a scrapbooker, you know why that's important. And the no time limit parking. As soon as you enter, you'll see two work tables. I thought this was it... but then we ventured to the back and oh boy! That is a HUGE work area. Love it! Larger than any of the scrapbooking places I've been to in Orange County. I used to frequent 3 different ones. Some snacks and water are complementary... maybe I shouldn't have said that coz there might be some shameless people that would go and just grab the snacks without purchasing anything. But they are there for those scrapping. Hey, the longer you stay there, the more likely you are to buy more stuff. Yeah, I was only supposed to buy a couple of pages and cut a couple of things... I walked out with $40 worth of paper! The papers are kinda expensive, which is normal... but they don't have a sales rack, which I haven't seen before. The ladies are extremely helpful. I placed an order on 11/1 and on that day my CC was charged. It is 1/4 and I have not received an update or a personal response to the 3 emails I sent. I have received automated replies. Today I am reporting fraud to my CC company and will file a complaint with the BBB. I have read the other reviews and see that this has been a problem in the past. I placed an order with then on May 24, 2021. They say the aim to ship their orders in NO MORE than 30 days as long as it is not during one of they're sales events. It took 10 weeks for my order to ship. I am a one person operation and need my suppliers to be dependable and stand behind their policies. They do not care for their online customers as a whole, when emailing for an update I asked for them to call me, they never did. I received an email that they had processed orders through May 28th but I didn't receive my package for another week and a half. So I am an online shopper and have thought good and hard about this review. My intent is to inform people so they can make their own decision. Pros: Lots and lots of supplies and variety of brands, massive passion and creativity coming from this owner and store, lots of sales and an upbeat approach to everything. Cons: Shipments from some of their sales can take 13 months (this was my case on my shipment of 2020) and even three months on non-large sales. The approach "it ships when it ships" is more Laissez faire so buyer beware and shows no indication of changing despite multiple complaints to both the better business bureau and store reviews as this practice has been going on for sometime (but appears to be getting worse?). So my main takeaway is whether I want to do business with a company that doesn't appear to be improving or taking feedback from their customers. They don't appear to be concerned about this feedback. As they have yet to not deliver (aside from very few reviews I read) and they do tell you upfront of their practices, it is harder to refer to them as a scam. BUT that being said, if they went bankrupt prior to delivery of all of their huge yearly sale, there would be nothing anyone could do so the risk is there (so far as I can see they have practice like this for years and it hasn't happened). read more

In response to Stacey K. review, it's not a scam when you post your long shipping timeframes up front on the website including a video that explains "It ships when it ships." She also says she understands that some people won't like those terms and will want to shop elsewhere. I also live in the S.F. Bay Area and can't get to the store in person. I accept the long shipping times because it's how they keep prices affordable. If they had to hire more employees to pick and pack orders, they would have to charge more to cover their increased costs. As for my own review, I think the owner, also a Stacey, is a sweetheart. Despite numerous challenges in her personal life, she is always upbeat in her Saturday morning demonstration videos. Scam artist. Made my order July 27, 2020. Their "protocol" is that it ships when it ships. It is now almost November and I still haven't received it, and there has been no movement on my order. I have reached out several times and keep getting told "it ships when it ships". I contacted my bank last month and put in a fraud complaint and got my money back. Researched the company (after I put in the order of course) and the BBB marks them as a solid F. I placed and paid for an order of over $50.00 in Nov during a Black Friday sale and have yet to receive it nearly 4 mo later. The only answer I get is "It ships when it ships". Today I called and when they checked my order number the employee said "Oh this was during our Black Friday sale and as Stacy always says, it ships when it ships. She said normal orders are processed first. I asked what the normal shipping time is and was told 30 days but big sale orders can take up to 6 months. My problem is how she talks about some of the techniques that have been around for years, like we are stupid and are children. You make a selection, place your order and kiss your money goodbye. They send an email then saying it's their policy to ship whenever they want, but no sooner than 30 days. You try and cancel, they refuse. 5 weeks go by, you dispute the charges, get your money back but on hold with your credit card, and the sugar-coating emails continue: 'We're so sorry but you can't cancel, all sales are final. We can ship when we're ready. Have a nice day!!" I don't understand how any of this is legal. The claims these folks are making are frankly exaggerated in my opinion. I think the longest it has taken me to get my products was her very first huge sale, where she was dressed in crazy high-heeled sparkly shoes & dressed to the nines! There were folks lined up all along the shopping center walls waiting to get in! If I remember the store was smaller then (?) and she didn't have a lot of staff, it's still a mom-and-pop operation and still not a lot of staff, because she gives her customers the most reasonable prices around the internet and big box stores, unless you have a 50% off coupon for every day of the week! I usually pay on the day of the sale for my merchandise, and I am charged that day, which is customary in any place you shop online! If you do not heed her warnings and read her statements that for her yearly big sales IT SHIPS WHEN IT SHIPS! That could be anywhere between 3-12 months, so for those that get their panties in a bundle, use the option to pay when the folks at Scrapbooking Made Simple are ready to ship it, instead of accusing this family-owned business of fraud! In the last big sale they had, I had two different shopping trips both way over my budget so I choose to pay when it was ready to ship knowing that I had more than enough time to have the money available the day I received the invoice from Paypal. It worked out perfectly for me, although I felt guilty because I know Stacey has her bills to pay just like everyone else does. Another point, where can you go and get free, in detail demonstrations of everything she has in her store on youtube for free? My local store charges $50 for her classes, I admit they are more unique but still, you can't get what Stacey gives you anywhere in any store for free! I go to SMS on a pretty regular basis because they have a great selection of product, some you might not see anywhere else. They also offer free make and takes, which are surely hard to come by these days especially with the amount of scrap-booking stores closing. Stacey and her staff are very helpful and very nice people. Yes, there are some difficulties with shipping certain items during certain times of the year, but that is because they truly are a Mom and Pop business. They don't have separate departments or a help line because they aren't Amazon, etc. They don't have items whisking by on conveyor belts being packed by hundreds of workers or robots, lol. I make a point to order the really good deals with no expectation of delivery dates (as Stacey says all the time, it ships when it ships), which I know can really put some people off. I look at it like this: "I may have to wait a while to get some items, but once I have it, I'm happy with my purchase and will many times have something that I couldn't get for the great price anywhere else". Also, I don't order something thinking that I will need it for a certain project trying to tell myself that it should be here in time. There are plenty of other things to purchase all over the internet for those projects! People who are complaining are probably not watching Stacey's YouTube videos, or are simply not understanding that "It ships when it ships" is the bottom line. They tell you truthfully , upfront so you have a chance to make the decision to purchase, so I feel it's very unfair to then get upset when your purchase doesn't arrive in a time frame that you decided would be acceptable in your own mind. So, after reading many reviews regarding the shipping....my advise would be just don't order if you have an issue with the shipping policy. The layout of this store is a bit stifling but I am always willing to overlook it if the customer service is great. We came here in mid-August while we were visiting on vacation. The British lady who works here was simply awesome to talk to. We were trying to find information on the town and just get the gist of what it was like. She was so nice and shared whatever knowledge she had. However, there was a woman sitting in the back (the owner? I don't know for sure) who was shouting answers from her chair and was not enthusiastic at all. Every question we had was met with disdain and negativity. Fabulous store! They carry a ton of products; dies, stamps, paper, ribbon, gelatos , copics, watercolors, etc. if you need it they probably have it. The store is laid out very well and each product displayed well. Some are grouped well together in project ideas. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The products are priced very well. Parking is pretty easy but the parking lot does have a bit of seedy element to it. I placed an order July 27, 2020. It was a sale and was told it may take a while to fill all the orders and a video explains that. Well here it is July of 2021 one year later and I still have not received my order. I have reached out by email to the company several times checking on my order and was told I would just have to wait indefinitely. A friend and I went to this store in August 2013 and I ordered a $ 9 stamp set and she ordered a Halloween die for less then $10. The store sale was 20% off entire store. My friend grabbed the last stamp "My Favorite Things a la modes Fight like a Girl" and so I paid for it and Stacey said she would still give us the 20% off and ship both our orders to us free since they were out of stock on these items. I gave her my address to mail both items to save her shipping costs. A couple of months went by and I contacted Stacey on her facebook page for the store 12/9/13 inquiring about our product. She told me our order was mailed out late October 2013 and she would contact USPS and if she had to then resend another order and call me to verify my address. I left my address on her facebook page and still have not heard from her as of DECEMBER 14, 2013 !! I filled out a complaint online to the Better Business Bureau. I received a confirmation email from BBB stating she has until January 17, 2014 to respond to this complaint. I read Several complaints on her facebook page about the poor or lack of customer service on prepaid orders, especially online orders never being fulfilled, customers never being contacted on their orders. Stacey's response to one lady was "We are a small Mom and Pop shop...." WOW ! Really! I think it's ridiculous that she continues to have Big sales events, free make and takes every weekend, and people are prepaying for orders either in her store or online and yet we all sit here and wait for our PREPAID merchandise !!! I love this store. The employees and the owner are friendly. And they have the widest selection of product across many companies I have ever seen. If they are out, they will order it for you. Yes online orders do take a while, but you have to understand, they are a mom and pop store that gets so many orders, it is impossible for them to get the orders out as timely as many people would like. Especially if you order during their super busy times of the year like Shop Hop, Sizzix warehouse sale, Spellbinders warehouse sale, and CHA. If you need something sooner, go to the store and buy it. If you can wait and don't need it any time soon, but want it, then place and order. They curently do not charge your credit card until it is being packaged for shipping. They don't hide anything. "it ships when it ships." They announce this all the time, especially when they are coming up to their busy times of year. I can't imagine how many orders they get during her big event times of the year mentioned above. Must be in the thousands. With their new site, customers now have the option to pay with paypal when it comes time for your order to be packaged. If you need something now and can't get to the store, order it elsewhere. I hate to send business away from such a great store and such wonderful people, but it is what it is. I only order online what I don't need right away, can't get to the store, and/or when I want to take advantage of the amazing deals they have that you can't get anywhere else. They also carry product you can't get anywhere else at times. I am fortunate enough to be close enough to make the trip to her store when I need to most of the time. They have been updating their systems and hiring new employees, but in order to continue giving the deep discounts to their customers and still be profitable, they can't go hiring hundreds of employees to manage all their orders or spend tens of thousands on a better system. They offer free shipping on most items with a $50 or more order. There are a few items that weigh so much they cannot offer free shipping. With each new change that has been implemented, there have been improvements on shipping times. They are doing what they can and eventually they will find that formula that works best to reduce ship times to the best they possibly can. It's all a matter of finding those solutions. I am so frustrated with this place. Initially I thought the insanely slow shipping was because of COVID-19. As the frustration increased I started researching and found people complaining about the same issues back in 2014! The "Mom & Pop" line only goes so far. I've ordered online from plenty of craft places and have never seen such a horrible delivery (or lack there of) service. All you get from "costumer service" is a canned response telling you that you just need to wait, period. You would think that if they had been in business this long they should have figured out how to be at least adequate. I did not think about researching the place ahead of time because they have been around forever. Do yourself a favor and find some other small business to support. I was excited to order from SMS when I rec'd a gift card on my birthday in April, 2014. I placed an order, spent what I had with the gift card and ordered additional items on my own credit card. That was April 20. After several weeks, I called to find out where my order was. I was told by Helena? Elena? that my order was "upstairs", they were short handed, only one person was "picking" and one person was shipping. She told me my order had to come "downstairs" before it would be shipped. Okay, I understand sometimes there is a staffing situation but to be told that once a week, every week? I started calling this store once a week to find out when my order would be processed. Each week I also asked to speak to the manager or owner to no avail. Each week I was told the same....my order was upstairs, they are short handed, etc. She asked if I had read their "policies" when I ordered online about sometimes there might be a delay. A delay is one thing but I had placed the order in April and now it is June! On one phone call I was informed 2 items were not in stock and had been discontinued, therefore she would credit me for those items. Finally, on my call the first week of June she informed me my order was "downstairs" now and would be shipped soon. One item was on back order and would be shipped for free when it came in. Fine. Another item was out of stock although showed in stock when I looked online (that day). "Oh" was the response. June 12 I called again, this time was told my order was back "upstairs"!!!! When I asked about the upstairs, downstairs statements I got a giggle saying she was mistaken and "it" (my order?) was on Her desk. I have no idea who Her is but was assured my order would ship today. Received my merchandise today, including the out of stock item and a back ordered item with a credit for the discontinued items. The sales tax was calculated incorrectly, a small amount that is not worth my time to point out to them. I will never order from Scrapbooking Made Simple again. They do not value their online customer, have terrible customer service. They would rather offer you a cancellation of your order than actually fulfilling your request. This company NEVER communicated any status of my order and all calls placed were initiated by me, the paying customer. A very sad way to do business. I ordered 3 items, 2 of which are readily available, the third they said was exclusive to them but was supposed to be in ample supply. It took 12 weeks to receive my paid for order. The only reason I did not cancel was because I thought getting a refund would be more complicated than waiting. I understand small company and I support that, but if your orders are waiting that long then it may be time to grow a bit. The multiple times I inquired there was not an explanation other than they try to complete all orders in 4 weeks. 4 weeks these days is a lifetime as well. When I emailed asking the status I got a reply stating they are behind and I can call and cancel the order if I wish. I want the supplies so I won't cancel YET!! My credit card has been charged for both orders. I can assure you I will NOT order from this company again.
