I'm writing this review 8 years later. Take what you will, believe or not but my reading came to pass in nuanced ways. I recently came across a journal entry that was written the day I saw Alex. I barely said two sentences and he laid out the cards and said "these are San Francisco cards...I see you there". I didn't tell him that I was considering a move there but he intuited, wow, 19 months later I sold everything and moved to SF then the rest of the cards followed suit. This was my first ever tarot reading and I've gone to others after that were good, but this was the most profound. It's amazing how relevant this is years later! It was refreshing to have heard blunt honesty, humor in a no-nonsense way, and though I couldn't fully understand at the time his guidance was exactly what I needed and other things he said reassured my qualms. This place is downright BS. First of all don't buy the groupon because you will end up paying the same amount once you get there. They of course don't tell you how expensive all of their readings are or that you will need to spend more. Second of all the reading was horrible. He spent more time asking me questions than actually answering any of mine. Even after I practically spoon fed him answers he still got everything wrong. Updated** Our first visit was disappointing: we both wanted Tarot readings, and while we had great conversations with Some strong insights, there was no Tarot involved. Cards shuffled, but none read or explored. That said, we spoke up about that and were given a chance to do a follow up reading. My Lovah had a follow up Tarot reading with Raymond, and had a truly powerful experience. He was very insightful, incredibly detailed, took time to go through several specific questions she had and really explore with her. Two of my girlfriends purchased a Groupon for 30 minute readings. One of my girlfriends has been there before and just raves about it. The other was new and I just came along for support. What an experience and not a good either! We arrived on time and the receptionist was busy scheduling appointments but nice enough. First girlfriend (the one that's been there before) was seen first by Raymond. Alex, the person scheduled to see my other girlfriend (the one that's new to tearoom) was running a bit late so we were sitting down waiting...not a big deal at all. However when Alex did arrived a few minutes later, he went ballistic over some tealeaves being left out by Raymond while in session with my girlfriend. When I mean ballistic I mean the anger that emanated from the man was intensely directed at Raymond ... mind you while in SESSION! Alex and Raymond had it out verbally in the middle of the room in front of us, to a point that we were unsure of our safety. I know everyone has a bad day or two but OMG I've never witness such unprofessional attitude and in such a hostile environment...it was just tealeaves! Uncalled for especially when there are clients in session and waiting. Alex announced that he is canceling his appointment today but I don't think we were brave enough to enter if he didn't. My girlfriend got her Groupon back to reschedule but unsure of returning. There was no note of apology from anyone in that room. We just left skeptical and horrified. I have no idea how people are giving this place 5 stars? You have to enter a sketchy storefront and then walk up 3 flights of stairs into a hallway that smells like there's a rat carcass in the wall somewhere. Enter, the tea room. Most of the readings take place right out in the open and you can hear everyone else getting their readings. Come on, how can the psychic hear their messages from beyond with all that clatter? (insert sarcasm). I should say, I'm a bit of a skeptic. It's not that I don't believe that some people have psychic powers. I actually do believe that. I just don't believe that all the people that work here do. I've probably been here 5 times in my lifetime but I hadn't been in about 5 years, before last night. We did this for my friend's birthday, before dinner. It's $30 for a 15 minute tarot reading which is kind of a lot, I think. Especially when my friend's 15 minute reading was only about 8 minutes long. Mine was actually a bit longer than 15 minutes though. I forget the guys name I went to (I'm not psychic) but he's been there for years. I recognized him and I know he has done a reading for me before. He was fairly accurate but nothing he said was profound. "Did you just buy or are you thinking of buying a new car?" Turns out, I did just buy a new car but if I hadn't the odds are pretty high that I may have been thinking about it. "Do I have a trip planned?" Well, as a matter of fact I am going away for a couple of weekends coming up. But, I bet 99% of the people who go in there have some sort of trip planned. "Did I recently move or am I moving soon?" Well Einstein, when you asked me my relationship status and I told you I was newly married, how long did it take you to figure out that a vast majority of people who get married move shortly before or after? "I see the potential for you to have a family". Bingo! We have a winner. Seriously, "potential to have a family". I'm paying you $30. I want specifics. Names, dates etc. The last time I had my fortune told she at least told me I was going to have a little girl named Jasmine." Seriously, don't waste your money. Okay/average reading but the location was a total $h!+hole. It is a closet sized place with three tables stuffed on the sides. There were not separate rooms for each reading, so you could overhear everyone's conversations (including the INCREDIBLY loud greeter who was gabbing on the phone the whole time or squealing over something. As someone who has read cards before, this was unacceptable. It really interferes with the reading (and the professionalism). Peter was a decent reader, but really missed on the few points where he tried to get specific. Some good advice to be fair though. If they did a new paint job and took all the crap out (Empty boxes were everywhere!) it could look a lot better. It just looked like they weren't even trying! Don't pay full price ever to go there. Well, I have to say, I've been putting off my review. Not because my experience was bad. But because it was, spookily so, the polar opposite and well...frankly I wanted to see what the next few months following my reading would bring. Suffice it to say, I've been pretty floored by the accuracy of my reading which I had at the beginning of November 2011. From the minute I met Alex, I knew he was the real deal. He is such a profoundly kind and sensitive man who does, indeed, have a true gift. I had barely sat down when he said to me "You've had a lot of really heavy relationships...tell me about the one that lasted for 8 years." And yes, ladies and gentleman, I was mourning the break up with my girlfriend of 8 years. It didn't end there. He told me details about my family, personal illnesses, relationships, and my character traits that no one else could have known. He mentioned the weird energy around my living space and, before I could get my opinion out, told me I had a ghost. I thought so. I went to him, had a long and interesting reading, wrote down a few things, and then proceeded to forget about pretty much everything. Until I recently looked back. He told me a woman named Karen would mentor me. At the time I didn't know anyone named Karen. Many months later I started a grad assistant position with a woman named Karen who has taught me so many things and has become important to me. He told me that my ex had only ever really wanted to be friends. Which I didn't believe at the time, but can now see so clearly. Despite my extreme anxiety over my very difficult graduate program he waved his hand and told me I would be "absolutely fine" for the next 15 months. To my disbelief, I've gotten all A's. And...I guess this is kind of the clincher...he told me that at the end of February I would meet a man who didn't like water, had a strange psychological trait and would be starting a new chapter of his life. And that I would have my next romantic relationship with him. Ya'll, I've dated women exclusively for the past 10 years or so. I'm not saying that Alex converted me, but I will say that I got goose bumps when - after we'd hung out a few times and gotten to know each other - I realized I was falling in love with a man who had recently moved to Boston, didn't like swimming or being in water, and had a touch of OCD. Alex also told me that I should attend a party or "go home with someone" in late spring and that long held problems, questions, or stressors would be resolved if I did. I didn't realize it at the time, but going with my boyfriend to his mother's country home for her 50th birthday party 2 weeks ago ended up being indescribably healing and illuminating for me. I was very optimistic about the Tremont Tea Room and had a reading with Alex. My friend had an amazing reading with him and I was eager to hear his prediction. Right now I'm in between jobs which he knew and then he told me that I'd have alot of interviews in October. These interviews would take place in NYC and I'd be ready to work there by November. Unfortunately, I have had no interviews and I am still in Boston which leads me to believe that his readings may be off. I really thought that they would be accurate given his reviews as well as my friend's reading. I'm just not sure why mine was so off. Maybe our energies are just clashing? I'm a skeptic by nature, though I really did go into my tarot reading with an open mind. I was thinking that there are some universal maxims in even the daily horoscope. So why not give it a whirl and see if I can glean some very general advice? Wow, what a sucky tourist trap the experience turned out to be. Three "highlights:" 1. If you're "psychic," or even just attuned to others, you should probably not ask me how I've been since the last time you read for me (we've never met and I've never been here). 2. One should probably stay clear of making predictions about death. Not only are you bound to be wrong, but false hope is very dangerous to people who might be grieving. Psychics are supposed to entertaining and sympathetic -- not defy medical science. (Thank God I have some common sense and I don't put too much stock in rubbish "predictions.") 3. "Try online dating." Wow, thanks for the dime store advice! Truly you are gifted geniuses! Bonus: Thanks for saying I'm "not emotionally deep," that I "attract disappointment," and for generally making me feel like a piece of s***. "Do you worry about ruining peoples' lives?" If I wanted to feel like a piece of crap, I'd just pay someone $120 to kick me in the stomach. And it would probably feel better. And no thanks, I won't be back. Feeling a little lost in my career and love life, I've decided to be a little adventurous and buy a Groupon for a reading. Please note that this is for a discount off the reading, so you're expected to shell out more cash upon getting there for a 30 minute reading. How did I find this out? The receptionist so rudely annunciated the terms of the Groupon (-1 star) and she's generally not very nice and neither am I retarded. When you go get a reading, you expect to find out what's up not more about your own personality. I know about myself already, I want to know the future! Did I get that? Nope. The psychic that I had my appointment with was 20 minutes late with another client, didn't acknowledge or apologize about it, which kind of rubbed be the wrong way. She was very nice, but very...bluh, just really mellow, and like she was too tired to even talk or something. The tarot card reading was okay, very slow. She didn't tell me much, just kind of gave me suggestions that really anyone could tell me. The things she asked, based on the tarot cards that she had me pull out, like "are you this or that type of person, or are you not getting along with this person.." and just describing certain things, were off. In the end I I feel like I was guiding her more towards telling me the answers to my questions than she was guiding me. Just really nothing I would even pay $10 for to be honest. I don't know about the other psychics, maybe they're better, so I can't speak for them. P.s. This place is definitely creepy. Too small, too dark and stuffy. Not terribly impressed. I had a groupon, so I figured I'd check this place out, since it's advertised as THE place to get a reading in Boston. I agree with those yelpers on the location. Bizzare, trashy, and yes, how can you get my reading with another person sitting next to me. They made her friend wait in the hall so the reader wouldn't mix up the messages, and yet I could get my reading right next to her?? Needless to say, the guy was way off, or perhaps he was reading the girl next to me. It wasn't me. And trust me, with the year I've had, you ought to be able to pick up on SOMETHING that has happned recently. It was a fun thing to do, but I wouldn't waste my money here again. read more

I was a first-timer receiving a reading like this. I booked Curtis Dean based on all of his fantastic reviews. (They have a great online reservation system that makes picking a psychic and finding a time that works super easy). Curtis was extremely personable, easy to understand, and patient to explain in more depth when I needed clarification. I will definitely book him again in the future. A few tips for beginners like me: - 30 minute reading seemed like the perfect amount of time since I needed a little more explanation than normal. - Bring cash to tip your psychic. I paid with a credit card and realized too late that I didn't have cash to tip. Will have to double next time! - Have some questions prepared. Curtis asked if there were certain people or life events I wanted more detail on. Even though I wasn't prepared to focus on anything in depth- he made suggestions. Probably would have been more valuable if I had some ideas prepared. - Use your phone to record the session to refer back to it or share with friends/family. A great tip from Curtis who showed me how to use the voice memo app on my iPhone. Really looking forward to my next reading! read more

I had been wanting to do this for a while, when a Guilt City deal came out. $29 for 30 mins (normally $60). My friend and I jumped on it. I thoroughly enjoyed my reading here. I was very comfortable with the older gentleman who read my cards (Peter, I think). Some of his assessments were spot on. The things he saw into the future sounded reasonable and he seemed confident in his predictions. Maybe I'm naive, but I ate up every word. I'm now caught saying "Well my psychic says..." Probably better than therapy and I would totally pay the $60 and come once every few months. The only thing I found annoying was the tip jar and the "tip your psychic" sign next to it. It's been almost a year since I had my psychic reading here. I was feeling lost, and getting increasingly frustrated with being unemployed. A LivingSocial deal for the Tremont Tearoom came up on my radar, and I decided to treat myself for my birthday. Based on all the recommendations here, I tried to get an appointment with Alex, but since he wasn't working the day I wanted to visit, I set up an appointment with Pam. It was a little unnerving to be in the same room with all the other psychics and their clients, but I quickly learned to just focus on Pam. Things she got right: - A headhunter contacted me just days after the reading. Eventually, I got hired for one of the positions for which he coordinated the interviews. She was also accurate when she predicted that things would be all right by November, as that was when I started my job. - The next person I dated did have the initials she gave me. - I did get on a plane a month after the reading. Some of her predictions never happened. Other things were only partly true: while she was right about the initials of the next guy I'd date, we aren't together still (my choice--even though he had the right initials, I definitely didn't think he was The One). Even though she wasn't 100% accurate, Pam was very pleasant, and reassuring at a time when I really needed someone who didn't really know me to tell me that everything was going to work out. It was an interesting experience, and I may try it again under the right circumstances. I'm happy to be charting my own course now, and not really doing what she foresaw, though I'm still curious to see if some of the long-term predictions she made end up coming true. read more

My appointment was with Alex and when I got there, he was "on his day off". I was offered to either reschedule or see someone else -- I picked the latter since I was already there. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that the psychic and I connected. At least, the things that she was saying about my personalities and things happening in my life wasn't matching up and I wasn't feeling comfortable. So, anyways, afterwards, I emailed Alex and asked if I could take them up on the "satisfaction guaranteed" offer, under which I should be able to schedule the same session with a different person. A month later, no replies. I emailed again and another 10 days later, I've yet to hear back. I give them one star for not telling me in advance that the psychic I booked with wasn't going to be there (or acknowledging/apologizing after the fact) and for ignoring my email requests. read more

I'd been wanting to get my first reading for a while, and then when I got that magic email from Groupon telling me I could get some super deal on a thirty minute reading, I immediately pounced and got one for me and a friend. Here's the short version: I would get another reading, but I would probably go to a different venue (and certainly a different psychic). The long version follows, and I give TT two stars instead of one mostly because what happened in those thirty minutes has provided a lot of material for fun storytelling. So here goes... First, I sorta felt like this was a day when TT wanted to get a bunch of us Grouponers out of the way (it was in fact the first Saturday after the Groupon had been offered). The staff were polite and friendly, but there were so many customers and psychics coming and going and waiting in the hallway without chairs and some confusion about appointment times that the experience was already a little even before I entered the small room to find... ...three other psychic readings going on! I was a little surprised that I'd be telling and learning personal info when at least two other people were at a mere arm's length. I quickly got over it, but I heard from my friend (who was at the adjacent table) that despite her best efforts not to listen in to my reading, she did hear the psychic yell out "Mental Issues!" a couple times... ... That's right, my psychic picked up that I have some mental issues, and told the whole room about it. Fine. Near the beginning of my reading, she asked me what psychological drugs I was taking; I told her none. Asked me if I was seeing a therapist; I told her I wasn't. Then she told me that I should be taking head meds and seeing a brain doc. Also fine; probs true? But at least two more times later in the reading, she asked me again what psych drugs I was taking, and I had to continually remind her that I wasn't taking any. Speaking of drugs: I'm pretty sure that my psychic was on some sort of pain killer or cocktail of pain killers. She was as mentally and physically out-of-it as Anna Nicole at her worst (or best?) on TV (do yourself a favor and youtube some of those TV gems). At the very beginning of the reading it took her like a minute to unclasp her purse a grab a breath mint and another ten seconds or so to get the breath mint from her fingers into her mouth. Now ten seconds may not seem like a long time, but think about it... it's probably long enough that she'd fail a sobriety test. Think about it... ...yes, Think. It's always good advice, and advice I'd like to have given to my psychic at many points. For example, she was telling me about my mother's past financial difficulties and asked me if my mother had lived through the Great Depression. Only problem is that I'm in my mid-twenties - just sayin'... Or maybe when she told me I should travel to Spain, or if not Spain then some South American country, or really just any Spanish-speaking country, such as Portugal. Pretty sure they speak Portuguese in Portugal - just sayin'... What I've described so far was all sort of hilarious, but the next part forms most of the basis for my negative review. So I went into this reading not wanting to be impressed by stuff the psychic could tell me about myself that I already know, like biographical facts and whatnot. I wanted to learn about what was going to happen to me in the future, and what I'm doing right in my life and what I should change. So when I told her things like how many siblings I have and what I do for a job, I expected her to remember. Instead, I spent a lot time listening to her tell me about my relationship with my sister (who doesn't exist) and the impending success of my "business" (which also doesn't exist) and additional time correcting her on these matters. Alex was eerily accurate on most points -- not 100%, but enough for a reading to be worth every penny. I waited until now, nine months after my reading, to write this review, because only time would tell if his predictions were legit. So far, so good. He started off our thirty-minute session with an astrological chart. I may believe in psychics, but not really astrology, so I started to glaze over...at which point Alex said, "Oh, honey, I know you're heartbroken. We'll get there." I would've been impressed at his psychic abilities, except that the expression of complete despair on my face may have tipped him off. Alex began the reading by building a foundation of trust: he told me facts about my past and present before giving me his predictions about the future. If he could prove that he knew what I already knew, then it would validate what he had to say about my future. I am absolutely convinced that he could NOT have known these things unless he had true psychic abilities. Things I'd never told anyone, in explicit detail. Physical appearances ("Anne Heche type but with longer hair" made me laugh and was totally true), names of small towns on the other side of the continent, uncommon names/uncommonly spelled names. I didn't expect that level of detail to be possible. NOW I'm impressed. The predictions he made that don't quite "fit" could be for a number of reasons -- perhaps I interpreted what he said incorrectly, or maybe he was just a little off, e.g. a single letter difference in the name of a person who otherwise fits. (Or maybe I haven't given it enough time yet but eventually it will make complete sense.) A psychic reading is whatever you make of it, and I felt like I got a lot out of what Alex gave me. He calls himself an "empath," and you can really sense that when he reads you -- he feeds off of your energy. He is the Real Deal in a world rarely taken seriously, and his high recommendations are well-deserved. Now to see whether or not my sister lapses into a coma this year... read more

First impression was that I was surprised this place was in a large officey-type building. I was thinking, windowless/inconspicuous hole in the wall in a side street or alley somewhere. However, the room itself was exactly what I expected a psychic place to look and feel like (think dark, small, curtains and funky lighting/colors and strange incense smell) so I could easily discount the actual location, being 6 stories up and down the hall from some attorney office. Anywho, I walked in and was greeted heartily by Alex, the owner (I guess?) who knew my name right away (most likely b/c my friends were already there and left my Groupon under my name at the desk, LOL) but I was pleasantly surprised to be addressed by name the minute I walked through the door. I went into this ordeal not expecting anything in particular, with no questions I needed to be answered and minimal skepticism. I sincerely wanted to see what my reader would pick up on and/or have to say or predict. And with those expectations in mind, I was extremely pleased. Alex had a pretty accurate first impression of who I was as a person, logical (yet artistic), athletic and loyal/honest/a good girl. I won't get into the details of what else transpired, it was some pretty personal stuff, but let's just say he read into some things that even I wasn't completely acknowledging in my life from day to day. Some feelings and thoughts that maybe even I have suppressed or denied and these are thoughts I've never shared with ANYONE until he picked them up....can I say talent? He had some hefty predictions of some bad things happening for me in the future, which was kind of scary, and I'm hoping the mere fact that I got the reading is enough for me to prevent these things from happening, should the situation present itself... Anyways, he knew things like where my family had a house, zodiac signs of 2 people - which just so happened to be the 2 people involved in much of the reading (with 12 signs, there's a 16 percent chance he'd get them both right), a habit of someone I know was picked up on, even a name of somebody else SPOT-ON. If you want to try and tell me these are all coincidences, I'd fight til the bitter end saying there's no way in hell someone could sit there and tell me all this and by chance, have it all be correct. No way, no how. This is FOR REAL and I can't wait to go back (even if the stuff predicted was bad, the ability Alex has is amazing). Don't hate. If you want to spend your time explaining all the ways that it could be "by chance", then why are you even going to a psychic? I would def. go back and I will (and already have) def. recommend this place (at least Alex) to ANYONE. read more

Our introduction started off a bit rocky....seeing as he was wearing a bright lime green over-sized T shirt while popping Tic-Tacs in his mouth like they were 5 mg OxyCotin pills.....(plus the place smelled like cat piss) After we sat down, I realized that we both had good humor and he made me laugh I did the traditional tarot reading and Alex looked at my Palm as well. I am not skeptical nor am I superstitious...so this is coming from a very unbiased perspective....... He actually predicted a relationship that I had during the summer that turned into a relationship. When he read my palm he told me of some qualities that are very similar to my character...amazing for not knowing who I am He even predicted my spring break vacation and told me the EXACT LOCATION! A friend of mine purchased a Groupon for me to get a reading. I right away booked an appointment. When we got there the receptionist, who also happened to be the owner, explained to me that we actually have to pay more to get a reading. I demanded an explanation for the false advertisement and he instantly got snappy with me and told me to do "Less of this, and more of this" (hand signs of a mouth shut). I let him speak, at this point he told me he did not want to explain anything to me and demanded for me to leave or else he would call the cops. I dared him to, he has no right to kick me out..I am a paying customer. He said C U Next Tuesday, then he proceeded saying that I have a horrible attitude and compared me to the lesbian who worked for him on a Sunday shift and that's why I'm single and will be single forever- when in fact I am in a relationship and have been for over three years! So much for his psychic abilities. Then he randomly, like a diva, negatively commented that my fashion sense...I then looked at his outfit and invited him to pay me a visit at my work because he lacked some style himself, and I worked at a men's department. He then made assumptions that I worked at H&M and that I didn't have an education and I should go get one that's why no other place would hire me. Correction, I'm a top salesperson at Nordstrom, and I'm an Honors student at Suffolk University.. no sixth sense there! Then he literally started calling me a cunt. Multiple times, and a bitch. I maintained a professional character and I was the CLIENT! I told him he should change the way he runs his business, and his attitude. I also told him he should be expecting a bad review on yelp. He told me he would just filter the review lol. Then I pulled up Yelp.com and started reading some bad reviews from other clients out loud to him. He got really angry and yelled "Get out!" grabbed my purse off of the seat, yanked my arm and pushed me out the door and slammed the door behind me. If this isn't a horrible experience, then I don't know what is! On my way down the elevator I was so offended and horrified so I called the police to file a complaint. I then immediately called Groupon and requested a refund. If you have any self respect and don't want to be scammed, I don't recommend this place for you. BUYER BEWARE. read more

This review is about my reading - not the price or the chairs or the fact that I didn't see tea anywhere. I am going through an interesting time in my life and was looking for answers to some BIG questions. I met with Alfred and I was impressed right away because as he was shuffling the cards one jumped out and instead of putting it back into the deck he put it on the table. That one card, the one that had so much energy at the split second it jumped out of the deck, and the discussion that flowed from it taught me more about myself and my place in the universe than I was expecting. It wasn't a traditional tarot card reading. It was bigger than that. It was BIG. I don't want to reveal too much but Alfred affirmed something I've known about myself for a long, long time but have had the courage to act upon. Today is the day I start acting upon it. I want to be clear about something: I do not take orders from readings. My reading was the tipping point that gave me the confidence I needed to start this new adventure. My only problem is that I want to go back again next week but going that often isn't healthy. This place is great. I have a friend who recommended this place and who is a regular so I was excited to finally get a chance to go when I had some free time in my crazy schedule and we found an awesome deal on Google. This group is so wonderful. From the first second we walked in they made us feel Welcome and they were absolutely hysterical. PS- bring some extra cash. They have a BEAUTIFUL jewelry collection! I had a reading with Alex and he uses different methods so I really enjoyed that I got a little bit of everything. He first started with my chart and was completely spot on. He's not like other places where they are reading computer generated interpretations of your chart, this man really knows his stuff! he was able to explain some aspects of my chart that I had never heard before and I really liked that. Next he read my palm, which was great too. He just seems to be so knowledgeable about the various ways to read. My only downfall was that I was not very clear about what I wanted. I only really came in for one question- my career. But I got so distracted at listening to him that I didn't get to it until the end and I still didn't get the clarity I wanted. Also, the love part was confusing. He mentioned various men that I could not identify, but I've learned that it doesn't mean your psychic is wrong. Always write down the info, and you'll be shocked when you look at that info later on and see how right they were! It's happened to me before! I'm definitely coming back for that clarity on my career. And I would recommend anyone there. Two of my friends went and were soooo happy with the readings. I had an appt was extremely excited... I showed up on time and the doors were locked! I made the appt early sunday afternoon, so I was totally confused about this. I called 2 x's and the 3 rd time a person answered and was extremely rude and harsh. She told me I had to wait outside on the street b/c she and her other co workers were busy w/ other people! and hung up on me!. So I should have left right then but i gave the benefit of the doubt and hoped for the best....... 10 min later no calls on my cell and no person! So i left ! extremely agitated .. This establishment has been around for YEARS. I used to visit them once or twice a year back in college (in the 80s). They were amazing then and still are. The last time I went was about one year ago and they still do an astonishing job. I have sent friends there too who have stated the same thing. I will say, however, that I usually stick to tea leaf readings. Tarot card readings give me the willies, so I just don't do them. I'm sorry for a couple of reviewers who had poor experiences. I NEVER have had a poor experience with this place. They must be pretty professional and believe in what they do. They are not cheap so I imagine folks want to get their money's worth, right? December 2012 Okay I went about a month ago. And had my first terrible reading there EVER. I must have been blocked that day because the first reader (I am not naming names) couldn't read me at ALL. So he kindly sent me off to have someone else read. She was horrid. The last straw was when she said my mother didn't give me enough attention as a child? Like WHAT? My mother could get an award for being such a good mom. I am still surprised because they generally do an amazing job here. Very very odd. read more

I had a disappointing reading last week, and contacted Alex who gave me a complimenmtary reading yesterday, and as always, WOW!!! I left with a spring in my step and a smile in my heart, and when I went in I was pretty disgruntled and unhappy. Alex was spot on with my love life and my work life, going into great detail about my boyfriend and my the roots of my unhappiness at work. I saw Keith yesterday, and he read my cards. I've never had a reading like this. It was truly unique from other readings. Last month, I was given a phone reading with the fabulous and most gifted, Timothy. It was part of a birthday gift from my sister in Boston. I was thrilled and most grateful, that Timothy was available to schedule a phone reading with me residing in a different city/time zone. I found Timothy to be highly gifted and very engaging. Had a reading back in June with James. Nice person, easy to talk with, was confident in everything he said to me but none of what he said came to fruition. Nothing in August, Sept, Oct or by the end of the year. He was just wrong about everything as in nothing he said has even come close to happening. Nice people, easy to book and get in touch with but not accurate at all for me in his reading which is disappointing for I've heard great things about the shop. I've been here twice for readings, both times with Alex. Compared to my first experience with a medium, he was amazing and definitely changed how I feel about this type of thing. He was dead on about many things, but what set him apart for me was the fact that he gets so specific with names, situations, personalities, family dynamics etc. He knew things he couldn't possibly have known and I did not feel like he was fishing for information or that I was giving him information on my own that would tip him off. I've been here three times and had one phone reading. I don't remember the womans name the first time I went in (Ellen maybe?), but I was 2 months pregnant. She told me I was having a boy, his name was Jacques in a previous life and he was going to be strong willed and rough. She also stated he would love sports and go camping with his father. Now I know your probably thinking there is a 50/50 chance on whether she would be right about gender, and most boys like sports and are rough. But what got me was the week before my husband had told me "new kid and I are going to go camping", when I told him in no uncertain terms would I EVER sleep in a tent. My husband has not been camping since he was a child and it just seemed too on point to our conversation. Cut to 4 months later, I find out I'm having a boy. 2 months after that my husband tells me he likes the name Jackson and it just grabbed me, THAT was his name. There was no question about it. Jack is now 13 months old and the roughest boy in our playgroups, he constantly has a ball in his hand and has mastered throwing it to his Dad. Once I had a "bad" reading, I just felt there was no real connection and the reading was off. I recently decided to give the Tearoom a try. I've never been to a psychic before, and I was hoping I would have some questions answered or at least leave with some hope in my back pocket. Granted I have no idea what to expect from this experience, but as a consumer I know that if I'm spending $50 on a half hour, it should be interesting. I met with Peter on a quiet Friday (didn't experience the lack of privacy other yelpers mention here, quite empty) I found the room dividers sufficient enough for a private meeting with Peter. He was incredibly warm and funny, and I thought after meeting him that I might be able to expect a big connection with him. I had some big issues I wanted to ask about. He got right into a tarot card reading, and slowly started examining every aspect of my life, which is a good way to structure a reading I suppose, but I felt we wasted a lot of time on things I didn't really care to talk about, and found myself looking for a clock to be sure we weren't running out of time. Throughout the reading he surprised me with a few spot on references to my character and the place I'm at in my life. But I couldn't help but think.. "ok, tell me something I don't know?" If that makes sense? I left wondering if psychic power is really psychic, or if he could just read my mind? He basically touched on things I had just talked about on the phone with my sister a few days ago (which is impressive in itself), and made some predictions that I know were definitely not going to happen. Then we got to a point in the reading where I felt I could let him in on why I really came to see him, and although he was the kindest man, I felt like he cut me off twice when I was trying to explain my "question," and I didn't really get to ask it. I think Peter is a talented man, but I think he and I just sort of missed our connection. I think I'd be willing to try someone else, but at $60 (I paid $50 with a yelp coupon), I'm not sure I'd take the risk of losing $110 to the tearoom with a similar experience. My cousin got me a reading for my birthday. I was really excited. While we were driving around on Saturday morning looking for a parking space, they called her. The psychic she had booked with (Raymond?) had called in sick. We could reschedule or I could see another psychic. I opted to see someone else since we were already there. I gather this sort of thing is common there. Psychics are other worldly and, therefore, a bit spacey I guess... The psychic that I ended up seeing, Jeremy, was very professional and engaged. I felt an immediate connection and when he got to work, he had some very insightful things to offer. It was just what I needed to hear. It wasn't your typical fortune-telling session, but that's not really what I was looking for. I went with an open mind and no specific questions. Just a feeling that something wasn't quite right. I recently went for a 30 minute reading with Raymond. I have to say he was great. The first thing he said gave me goose bumps. His reading was on target and his humor and friendly demeanor made for an enjoyable experience. My only complaint was during reading another psychic was speaking on the phone with a women who angry and screaming. It was so loud I could hear everything she said. It put me on edge and lasted for about ten minutes, taking my attention away from the reading. Besides that disappointment I would recommend the Tea Room. I think I was just unlucky.
