I was excited to hear a new restaurant was moving into town. Especially one that is a well-known food truck in the city. At first glance, the prices seem steep, but the size of the burrito makes up for that. I ended up getting the California burrito, which was good, albeit very salty (and I usually LOVE salt). The best part of it was the tots stuffed inside. I found myself digging them out instead of eating the burrito as a whole. My husband got the Boomtown Breakfast burrito and agreed his was very salty as well. He also complained that there was way too much cheese. I gave it four stars since the burritos were overall good, despite personal taste. I think the next time we visit it will be for the loaded tots. read more

First off, it is The Outlaw Grill...with 2 L's. I have sent a correction to yelp no less than 10 times and they still haven't changed it. Frustrating! On to the food truck! I LOVE food trucks, they are fun, different and fast. I came upon this one at the capital a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try. Have you seen the graphics on this truck? How could you resist? Also noticed that they are military veterans...just another reason to support them. Husband ordered their Outlaw and I ordered their chicken...something...bad reviewer as I can not remember the name! It had a cilantro avocado sauce that was AWESOME! Anything with chicken and avocado will catch my eye. Food was pretty quick and pretty darn awesome! All of their food is served on a nice hot pita...burn your hand hot pita! At least you know it is fresh! They hand it to you in a boat with napkins, be smarter than me and use the napkins to save your hand. Husband LOVED the Outlaw. Steak, bacon, grilled onion, cheese sauce and their Outlaw sauce. He gave me a small bite and that is where the sharing ended... I LOVED my chicken pita!!!! I have been watching their Facebook page to see when they have it again...I will make a trek to them to have another. They were really accommodating to me, as an annoying customer that meant a lot. I am THAT person. That person who reads the menu and then thinks they have a better idea for a menu item then you. Yep, that's me. "Can you please combine all these things and take these things off of it...and then add some random ingredient not on your menu?" Owners were very personable and even gave my little one his first taste of bacon...they have a fan for life! Driving by Baldman Brewing tonight saw the Outlaw truck out front grabbed a beer and took dinner home, from outlaw-FANTASTIC!!! Everything was perfect from the food to the Very sweet girl who helped us and found a box for us to take our order home. Ate at their stand at the Twin's game. Pretty good food. Had a burrito and it's up there with one of the best. Decently priced too. Best part are the people. Super nice and give you plenty of food. My mom even ordered the wrong thing and wanted coleslaw on it. They could've charged her extra, but they gave her some anyways. Definitely give them a try next time you see them. read more

Found this truck in the alley behind my office today. It;s a good looking menu, 4 or 5 things that all looked tasty. I got the California Burrito, the only item without bacon. It's a very tasty burrito: well seasoned meat, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream and tater tots. It's not a $10 burrito though, being a bit on the small side. It looks like my buddies who chose other menu items fared much better than I. I would have done a side of tater tots, but at $5 that blows the old lunch budget. I would probably have opted for half an order, if that was an option. Oh, and the 0.75% credit card fee - really? I ended up paying $10.48 - not sure how the math comes out there.... read more

I was excited about having a new restaurant in town, ate a meal with my wife and youngest child on Saturday afternoon, I ordered the California burrito, the Santa Fe tots small order of esquite and a vanilla bean ice cream cookie sandwich. It is the first weekend they are open and there are always things to be worked out. So here it is good and bad. First being that I went at a slower time of day, I would expect that the tables could have been wiped off, seems as though someone could have gone through and at least gave it a once over with a wet rag just to get the tables clean. Outside of that the place was a nice little spot. As far as the food goes the meat was tender the tots were crispy and the ingredients were very fresh, so they have that going for them. My biggest criticism would be the flavor, it is very bland and nothing besides a bottle of Tabasco to spice things up, I would suggest adding a couple of salsas to kick things up a bit. As I said before the meat was tender but the flavor did not impress, I would best describe this as southwestern food made for people that don't know better, in my experience there isn't any very good Mexican restaurants in the area, the ones that are here people generally speak well of them but there is nothing that stands out as an exceptional or even very good restaurant. In the NW and beyond there seems to be many restaurants especially Mexican and SW that get by on mediocre food. The ice cream sandwich was good but maybe was not frozen enough when biting into it all the ice cream would run out the side. Over all it was edible although for what I got it seems to me there is little perception of value, food is a little overpriced for what you get, my bill was $40 after tax and tip. The tots were $11-12 and come in a small paper boat, for the price I expected a larger portion. In the end I'm not saying I'd never eat it again, I'm just not overly excited to return. read more

We made a last call stop at Dangerous Man Brewery. Outlaw was the featured food truck. My husband didn't really want food, but I want out and ordered the carne asada over tots plate. It was a huge portion of awesome, perfectly cooked and seasoned thinly sliced steak, homemade salsa, and amazingly good tater tots (and I am not a big tot fan). Let's just say the dish was devoured in minutes and mostly by my "not" hungry husband. Two days later he is looking for Outlaws next stop. read more

Ate lunch at this truck today. Wish I could find a word more awesome than "AMAZEBALLS", because my taste buds are still dancing. I got the California Burrito and my girlfriend went with the OKay Corral. The burrito is a meal in itself, with super hot and crispy seasoned tater tots, cheese, a really fresh Pico de gaillo type salsa and sour cream. First bite in, I knew I was in trouble. My girlfriend was going to want a bite and I was already guarding it like a wild dog. My sensibilities returned about halfway through, and we traded items. Bless her heart, she's so much more civil than me! Her item was a sandwich on a pita. A buttered and grilled to soft pillowy yet slightly golden on the outside perfection. Inside was juicy grilled chicken, cut up proper for this type of sandwich, a big strip of bacon(aaaaw, yeah!), shredded cheese blend, crisp greens and a sauce that made my undershorts tickle. WHAT IS THIS SAUCE?? Their menu said something like cilantro with lime ranch, all I know is I wanted to swim through it with my mouth open. Prices were reasonable and we each added a soda for only $1 each. BONUS! The line was about 10 deep and it moved fast. People on the truck were super friendly and courteous and seemed to be loving life inside a food truck. A spectacular specimen of a food truck, I might add.
