Oh the topping wow they nailed the amount of onions and peppers. Just enough to enhance the flavor without hiding that savory meat. This thing is a monster. The four cheese curds were average and a bit soggy with oil. The gravy was a thin brown packet-style excrement they should be ashamed they are serving. The dog was plump and perfectly cooked but nothing special and had a suspiciously Oscar Meyer-like flavor and texture (this is not a traditional skin-on weiner with a snap as you bite into it). The bun was unremarkable and tasted as if it were straight out of a factory bag. I keep hearing about how wonderful the hot dogs and other food are at Target Field....so what happened? Is this just a low-budget attempt by Target Field to jump on the food truck craze without actually offering any of the quality ingredients or care that the real food trucks offer?

Thankfully, I had the opportunity to try their sandwiches at the 'Tapped and Uncorked' beer tasting event in Rosemont. It was a dream come true to have them there -- and so many beers to sample along side. I ordered their Cuban Panini, with Ham, Chicken, Swiss, and pickle. It also includes your choice of mustards -- yellow mustard for their 'classic' Cuban, and Jalapeno mustard for their Atomic version. The owners were very accommodating and friendly when I asked for a "half and half" version for me with different mustards on each half. Unfortunately, when the sandwich arrived, both sides were slathered in their respective mustards making it difficult to taste the subtle flavors of chicken, swiss and ham. The chicken was over-portioned and pork was under-represented. I would have welcomed a slice of Genoa salami (making it a Tampa-style Cuban) for more dimension. As served, it wasn't close enough to an authentic Cuban experience to satisfy my craving. It was a sandwich 'out of balance.' I think Panini Pinups is capable of making good sandwiches -- and this is my first visit -- so I've given them three stars (great service) instead of two (disappointing Cuban). I've been able to track down the Shack on multiple occasions now and have always been very happy with my meal. Topping the list are the beef tongue tacos, shredded pork tacos and although it sounds domestic, the grass fed burger - the latter can hold it's own against any burger you're going to find in the sit down joints in the cities. It appears that the menu varies by location, but there's always plenty of inventive and comfort choices to appease most palates. I'm glad to see that some of the Shack trucks are going to become regulars in downtown St. Paul every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this summer. Where others have failed in the past (miss you Curbside), I'm hoping that the Shack, Magic Bus and other newcomers (e.g., 128 Cafe, Barrio taco truck, etc.) can give both St. Paul and Mpls the shot in the arm needed to make street food commonplace in the Twin Cities. I know I'll be heading back around home for lunch to hit up the Shack and company... They were in the parking lot outside the Stone Mountain Pet Lodge. All of the sausages & brats come from a Minnesota company: Fraboni Sausage Company in Hibbing - cool! I can testify that this is some savory and flavorful stuff. They have other foods too (see photos). But they also go the extra mile with beverages and desserts. I had a root beer float and a Hazelnut Port Cupcake - wow - great. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order from Deep Roots. The entire menu looks awesome. I'll be back. After the Minnesota Wild game had ended just before 4 pm on Saturday, I drove over to this food truck to get some dinner. It was easy finding this food truck. It was parked in the Cub Foods lot closest to 10th Street North. I parked steps away and approached the truck. The woman in the food truck was nice and helpful. There was also a man helping out. Mr Egg Roll, as the name implies, specializes in egg rolls. It offers regular and jumbo ones. She let me know that the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls had sold out. However, there were still pork and chicken ones available. I went with the former. I also went jumbo because I was daring and curious to find out how large they were. I asked her whether getting two jumbo ones would be enough for dinner. She said yes. I got two. The menu also had chicken wings and boba. Ah, two items that melt my heart. I decided to get boba. She offers both fruit and milk bubble tea. I went with fruit and got the peach green tea with a mix of boba. It does run a bit steep price-wise. I paid $25 with a tip. Considering that I don't eat at food trucks much and it's a mom-and-pop business, it's worth it. She thankfully accepts credit cards. I was handed a buzzer. She let me know that it would take fifteen minutes to prepare my order. I was thrilled that I didn't have to wait outside on an unseasonably cold, windy day. I got to hibernate in my rental car. Sure enough, fifteen minutes later, the buzzer went berserk in my hand, buzzing and flashing like a mini disco dance-off. I got out of the car and headed over to fetch my food. The woman asked if I needed a bag. I said that I was okay without one. I got a plastic container with my egg rolls and my bubble tea. She advised to stir my drink up before drinking it. I thanked her and headed back to my car. I drove over to a corner of the parking lot and had my food. The pork egg rolls were awesome. It was packed full of filling. The vermicelli and veggies were mixed in with the ground pork. The filling wasn't precooked before hand. It looks like the mixture was packed firmly into a wrapper and deep-fried to perfection. The positive thing about this approach is that you don't have filling falling out of the egg roll with each bite. If you are an egg roll purist, you may dislike this approach. I thought it was cool and the filling was flavourful. The wrapper was thin and extremely crispy. It was delightful dipping the roll halves into the sauce. They were jumbo rolls and I loved them. The boba was excellent. You get a mix of tapioca balls, and coconut and strawberry jelly. The sugar was fixed, but it was perfect for me. The only downside was that there was a lot of ice at the top that I had a tough time poking the straw into my drink. Once I was able to, I was good. This food truck was a great find. I'm so glad that I stopped by to get dinner here. I'd return in a heartbeat. (66)
