Windwalkers - My boots! It's a little hard to see the black ragged leather detail but it wraps around the front and is very nicely done.

"As good as it gets" is right! Every year I always wistfully admired Angel's custom hand-made…read moreshoes and boots at the Oregon Country Fair. This year I decided it was finally time to order my own. She takes a duct-tape measurement of your feet (both of them - which is great because my feet have almost a half-size difference) and then crafts a pair of boots to your exact specifications. If you order during the busy summer season it can take awhile (I ordered in early July and my boots were finished in late October), but it was well well worth the wait. The quality and skill that went into making these shoes is obvious. Besides being beautiful, they are immensely comfortable beyond any shoes I have ever worn before. The soles are made of repurposed shredded rubber that allows your feet to really feel the texture of the ground while still protecting you from sharp bits. And you can patch them yourself. Yes, they were expensive, but if you take care of them they should last decades. I don't plan to buy any other daily wear or outdoorsy/hiking shoes for the foreseeable future. Yay!

What I'll be wearing as the sun changes its course. Big fuzzy handmade boots (the kind that stop…read moretraffic as people lean out their car windows to gape). I've liked Uggs too, but I'm a sucker for local. In fact, one of these coming days I really want to drive out and see her at work, and see if she can fix me boots up a little---they've worn through just a bit at the back because they're slightly too big. When you order yours (as I'm sure you'll do) then just make sure you send in a trace of your foot, so you're sure to get the right size, no guessing. These keep me warm and cosy and feeling like I'm still wearing flip flops. It's awesome in California.

Lisa is the cashier and the one-lady who guards this store. I walked past this store and saw some…read morebargains in the front of the store... $20 for "last pairs"... what a steal! I was just about to try the shoes on and then saw the sign "please do not try shoes on outside"... so I proceeded to take the shoes and was ready to walk inside the store. Just then, Lisa came out from inside the store and said "thank you for not trying the shoes outside. come on inside and we have other sizes too" Throughout our interaction, Lisa does seem a bit harsh "why don't you only try on shoes that actually fit you"... I was thinking to myself ... mmmm... was she being rude or ...? Then she grabbed all the shoes that I tried on -- that I don't want -- and she indicated that she'll spray them all down because she's OCD like that. Okay, i'm starting to get her... Towards the end of our interactions and after purchasing 3 pairs of shoes, I found that she just has dry humor. She is not rude. But I can definitely see how it comes across as rude though. Overall I got 3 pairs of great shoes at great value at Azasa.

Artsy and fun and comfortable seem to the the target style here, not so much the high end fancy-to-go-with-your-evening-gown style. Probably want to go somewhere else for that. The staff are friendly and helpful. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't crowded, though other store owners have said that Sundays are usually busier than Saturdays. Perhaps folks are just hunkering down for the big storm today.

BUYER BEWARE -- I would NOT order from this company…read more Their website advertised free returns, which was part of the reason I felt comfortable ordering. When the dress arrived, I was shocked by the quality. The material was incredibly cheap and felt more like costume fabric than the material you would expect from a wedding guest dress. It looked nothing like the quality represented online. When I contacted the company to return it, they actually acknowledged IN WRITING that I had seen "free returns" advertised on their website -- but then refused to honor it. First, I was told I would have to ship the dress back to Asia at my own expense AND pay a $20 restocking fee. Then I was told they were unable to provide free return shipping or even process a refund and that my only option was a replacement. After I refused the replacement, they changed their story AGAIN and said I could return it -- but only if I paid to ship it all the way to China, plus the $20 restocking fee. I have screenshots of the entire email exchange. The extremely cheap, costume-like material was disappointing enough, but the return experience made it significantly worse. Advertising free returns and then requiring expensive international return shipping plus a restocking fee is incredibly misleading. Had the actual quality and return terms been clear upfront, I never would have purchased this dress. Save yourself the headache. I absolutely would not purchase from this company again.
