Bellwether at Toledo Spirits - Espresso Martini. Great Crema, a little sweet for me

All spirits and liquors are made in house. When we visited, they had their brunch menu going on which switches for dinner at 4pm. Will was our bartender and I could not have nicer things to say about him! He sparked up some casual conversation with us, answered some questions we had, and made some great recommendations on drinks! He mentioned their two most popular brunch drinks were the Espresso Martini & Benton's Old Fashioned. We ordered both and WOW! Such a balanced cocktail, nice presentation, and great flavors. Their dinner menu was currently inspired by well known novels which previewing the menu had me wanting to come back. Such a fun spot with unique offerings you won't find at other spots in Toledo. Must try!

With a hang out in the basement feel. Staff is friendly and willing to help. Hot dogs are ok, would prefer a warm bun. We have been here a couple of times now. I think they have great cocktails. Well made, beautiful, pricing is decent for the most part. I love the to go Strawberry Lemonade. It was perfect for summer boat rides. We also love the THC soda. Great flavor. We do not live in the area but we stop in everytime we are.

If you need an after work pick-me-up, OR, if you want to edge off after work, BHD has you covered! This place is both a coffee shop, and the "speakeasy." Want a coffee or tea drink, a bagel, a banana, or a bougie pastry? You can find these in the cafe. If you want an excellent, if not overpriced, cocktail? You can find it at the bottom of the spiral staircase, in the bar area. The area directly above the bar (up a few steps up from the cafe), is a nice seating area. The view, over the parking lot(s) of the river, is surprisingly scenic. Service: This is a weird one...on nearly every occasion that we've been here, the wife and I got strange vibes. The people behind the counter in the coffee shop seemed, for some reason, snobby and aloof. C'mon, girls, you're baristas, not prima ballerinas...Still, the service was at least fast and accurate. I like the atmosphere. From the comfy chairs in the cafe, to the "secret" back door of the speakeasy, this place is very cool. However, THE BAR NEEDS A FOOT RAIL! All in all, this is a very nice edition to the downtown coffee, and bar, scene.

I chose the Bailey's cheesecake, which I took downstairs to the speakeasy. I then paired it with and espresso old fashioned which was delicious. The combination of the two was absolute perfection! This place was absolutely gorgeous. I loved the feel of it. The service was great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

To start with, the hostess was friendly and welcoming, as was the new waitress. Also, the decor is cute, at once kitschy but also with some serious art. We weren't that hungry but had a long drive ahead of us so we wanted a little something. We don't eat meat and there were plenty enough vegetarian options. We shared brussel sprouts, a huge portion but I'd have preferred spicier. We also shared cheese balls that came with a spicy dipping sauce, they were ok. Lastly, we shared lettuce wraps which were the star of the show, as expected, very messy but a nice combination of flavors and a substantial portion. I would give it another try. I appreciate the fact that they try to use locally sourced items and the drinks sound like they'd be really good.

Ordered the drink of the day or whatever its called. Peach margarita. Yum. Not so much. It had so much sweet n sour you couldnt tell what it was. Instant heartburn. We asked for shrimp n grits, out of shrimp. Settled for chicken n waffles and cornbread waffles n chicken for me. Appetizer of goat cheese balls came pretty quickly and they were OK. Entrees came out about 20 minutes later. Thumbs up for the grits. Thats the second star. Both agreed the chicken did not taste fresh and I was picking pieces of chicken out of my teeth. Tasted reheated and you know how white meat chicken gets tough after reheating. My cornbread waffle was actually decent. Different take putting pork on the waffle. Didnt work for me. The mix of chicken, syrup, and pork tasted weird so I scooped the pork off. The gravy was watery and did not have any flavor so didnt use. After picking at our dishes we both called it quits and got some to go boxes. Service was kinda slow but expected during brunch. My man looked me straight in the eye after paying our $80 tab n said don't ever bring me back here. His leftovers are still in the fridge. Enough said
