This place was really cute in terms of decor. I had the granola waffle and I absolutely loved it. It was made with coconut milk and you can taste it. The scrambled eggs were also really good and they topped it with some sort of Parmesan cheese that set the flavor off!!! My daughter and husband got the chicken and waffles which was great as well but the waffle had a weird savory gravy on it that threw it off for my daughter. I wish we would've read the menu and opted to exclude this from the dish. It's all good. The chicken was absolutely amazing. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Came for Sunday brunch with reservation. Waited about 15 minutes. We were sat upstairs which is fine except you can't really hear the music playing(Nice Motown music) because of the acoustics in the place. Ordered the drink of the day or whatever its called. Peach margarita. Yum. Not so much. It had so much sweet n sour you couldnt tell what it was. Instant heartburn. We asked for shrimp n grits, out of shrimp. Settled for chicken n waffles and cornbread waffles n chicken for me. Appetizer of goat cheese balls came pretty quickly and they were OK. Entrees came out about 20 minutes later. Thumbs up for the grits. Thats the second star. Both agreed the chicken did not taste fresh and I was picking pieces of chicken out of my teeth. Tasted reheated and you know how white meat chicken gets tough after reheating. My cornbread waffle was actually decent. Different take putting pork on the waffle. Didnt work for me. The mix of chicken, syrup, and pork tasted weird so I scooped the pork off. The gravy was watery and did not have any flavor so didnt use. After picking at our dishes we both called it quits and got some to go boxes. Service was kinda slow but expected during brunch. This was a great experience. I was so hungry when you got there and had to wait on my sister to arrive. While I waited, the coffee served was delicious. The server was great, informative and patient. If you haven't been in recently to try Fowl & Fodder's (ALL-DAY!!!!!) brunch menu, you are seriously missing out. Chef Lawson's POV shines, featuring huge portions of rich food, expertly balanced with smokey hits, vinegary bites, and unexpected southern comfort for a restaurant so far north. The staff is super friendly, welcoming, and seem genuinely happy to be working, which I think we can all acknowledge is not super common these days. The atmosphere comes alive with an energetic, younger crowd and the food is just outstanding. If you think you know F&F by their old lunch menu, you absolutely have to try their all-day brunch. It's easily some of the best, if not THE best brunch in the city of Toledo, and raises the bar for a wildly underdeveloped scene in the city. An interesting place! Big menu, it's a bit of a challenge to pick out something! The main dining area is upstairs but there are some spots on the main floor (I assume those are for people that might not be able to do the stairs.) I went with avocado toast with a couple eggs and coffee. The coffee was rich and delicious! Nice way to start! My SO had the GOAT salad with chicken. So why the 3 and not a 5? To slow! I stopped here on my way to Mardi Gras. It was the first breakfast of my trip and what a wonderful kick-off to my vacation. I'm gluten-free and always pick my restaurants in advance to ensure I'll be able to get something to accommodate my dining restriction. I drive to Mardi Gras every year and wanted to try a new place for my first meal of the trip. I'll ALWAYS return here when I drive down in the future. The inside is very cute. I was seated at a table on the second level and there was a nice view of downtown Toledo out the front window. Eggs, kale, waffles and more are painted on the walls. Big images like modern art. The counter in front of the bar downstairs was very rustic, like at a food market. The tables and chairs were very nice solid wood. There were two wooden chests along the wall holding glasses and one had this very cool syrup warmer on top (picture below). I texted a picture of my breakfast to my boss and she thought the super classy syrup bottle was a bottle of wine, lol. Like I said, nice rustic feel. The restaurant felt modern and trendy, and the food was over-the-top. The waffle was crispy outside and soft inside, absolutely delicious. I would never know it was GF. There was also a breaded boneless chicken thigh on top. Loved that they used the tight, which has so much more flavour than the breast, very juicy. This came with a delicious hollandaise sauce on the side. I went back and forth between dipping bites in the hollandaise and the syrup. There were microgreens on top of the waffle too, which brought such nice freshness to the dish. I also ordered a bubble punch - rhine geist bubbles. orange juice. dash fire orange bitters. orange tiger. Packed a nice little mimosa punch. Really great drink. I found the coffee to be a tad strong. My server, Maddy, was very friendly and always around if I needed anything. Overall, this was a really cute place with extremely high-quality food and consideration for dietary restrictions and healthier food choices. Highly recommend and will return whenever I can. Absolutely fantastic, creative breakfast food with excellent vegan options. I stopped in at about 9:30am on Friday holiday and there was plenty of space. I had seen they had vegan options, and I was looking for a filling breakfast. I tried out their mushroom scramble ($16 plus tax), which turned out to be a super creative dish: tofu scramble, mixed roasted mushrooms, hummus, green onions, celery, picked mustard seeds, onions, and avocado, served with 2 crispy tostadas. The flavours and textures were unique and delectable, and the portion was very large. I was very happy after. Good, friendly, attentive service and a comfortable spot. So decided to come here for brunch on a weekday. Parking was super easy with street parking readily available. We were seated right away as it wasn't super busy on a weekday. The interior was super cute with tables downstairs and upstairs! Really great ambience! My friend and I both ended up ordering the avocado toast which was really delicious! Now my biggest problem was with the service. Not sure if it was because our server was new but we had ordered a side of a tofu scramble. Server completely missed that when they brought out our meal. They said they would bring it right out and ended up bringing a whole separate entree of some other item on their menu, and then charged us for the full price when it wasn't what we ordered at all. I had even clarified 3 times that this was indeed the scramble and the server kept saying yes. They were nice about giving us the refund, however there was significant delay and mistakes in charging our credit card. Not quite sure what to say, gave it a middling rating but I suspect it's better than that, possibly didn't order the best they have to offer. To start with, the hostess was friendly and welcoming, as was the new waitress. Also, the decor is cute, at once kitschy but also with some serious art. We weren't that hungry but had a long drive ahead of us so we wanted a little something. We don't eat meat and there were plenty enough vegetarian options. We shared brussel sprouts, a huge portion but I'd have preferred spicier. We also shared cheese balls that came with a spicy dipping sauce, they were ok. Lastly, we shared lettuce wraps which were the star of the show, as expected, very messy but a nice combination of flavors and a substantial portion. I would give it another try. The hostess mentioned they have only been open since last week. She seated us upstairs and nicely spaced apart. Tiana is waiting on us. Got their organic OJ. Their menus are paper and single use and their serving on paper plates too. Plastic cups, napkins and flatware too. Sign on the table indicating the tables been cleaned and sanitized. There's also a bottle of spirits, 80% alcohol for cleaning your hands at the table. The waitstaff are all wearing masks. We are the only patrons with masks on in here, oddly enough. Started off with there goat cheese balls with jalapeño jam. Breakfast chorizo tacos with a side of the tots and srirachup and the Bird in the nest croissant with grilled chicken and an added side of goat cheese balls and a small kale and beet salad. Food takes a bit longer here than we thought, hoping it's worth the wait. I see a skeletal crew in the kitchen. At least they are open. Our waitress told us our food is on its way, they got a new cook and he's a bit slower. I received an undercook egg, though I had asked for a over hard egg. I also got the egg in the center of the croissant with a side of chicken pieces, wanted a grilled chicken croissant sandwich. I get it they might be a bit rusty with patrons seated in house still. Charged me $4 for the side of chicken I wanted on my croissant sandwich and $0.79 jalapeño jam I didn't ask for at all. Probably good to let the patrons know the added costs as a heads up. read more

Had a late lunch here. If you have trouble with stairs, I believe they could accommodate you but most people seem to be shown to dining upstairs in the loft. I would describe the vibe as artsy and healthy. I ordered coffee a bit later than breakfast and it was cold but it was quickly remedied once I mentioned it. Both my friend and I ordered chicken wraps that were huge and took home leftovers. The sandwich wraps were delicious with cabbage. It's a bit pricey but overall it's also about quality. When my $4 coffee arrived cold, I wasn't going to stand for it and our server was apologetic, but everything else was high quality as should be for the price. Steph and Aaron absolutely have a gem of a place here! We went to the Toledo Auto Show today and searched good restaurants near it, and luckily we ended here. Steph greeted us and had one table on the bottom floor by the bar that we sat at in under 30 seconds. I advised her we moved within the year from San Diego and was looking forward to fresh food with a good chef. Once she started to relay her husband was the chef and everything was fresh, I got excited like an 18 year old boy walking into my first strip club. Her daughter Grayson(sp?) served us our water bottle at the table (she's seven and adorable) and then I proceeded to ask Steph for her favorite savory dishes. She gave me recommendations and accomodated my two children and wife. We started with the goat cheese balls with jalapeño jam. The balls are like putting softened cream cheese in your mouth and the crunch from the breading was perfect. The jam was sweet with sensational flavor. My 10 year old daughter loved them as well. For our courses..my seven year old son got chicken tenders and fries. His fries were so well seasoned that I could have slept in a bed of them. His chicken was moist and flavorful. Plain and simple, but well done. My daughter had the eggs benedict...which had a base ciabatta, followed by the most delectable fried green tomato coated in what seemed like a cornbread type breading. The hollandaise had a nice kick to it, and the corn relish was a brilliant add. She got a salad in the middle of both, and yes, I'm eating her leftovers. Plenty of food for her. I got the Detroit pastrami .... And let me tell you....it sent me right back to San Diego. It has an Asian-inspired flavor that gave me a food chubby. I added the apples and honey and it offset the savory of the sandwich sooo well, it is definitely my favorite. Top it off they make damn near everything from scratch (including the pastrami meat), sans the bread - but their cooking space is limited, so as an amateur chef I can relate why they don't make their own bread. Ambiance is so nice. The other staff is so welcoming and friendly. My wife wanted a coffee and it was so late in the day the owner just gave her a French press of caffeinated heaven. Then when were leaving offered up a to-go cup for the remainder. Their hours are definitely breakfast and lunch, but it suits this place well. They are closed M-W I believe, but you can bet your ass if I'm driving through and they are open, I'm stopping in. Do not pass this place up! read more

I wish I could give higher than 5 stars. what a true gem. We had heard really great things about this place all the way in Akron but never went because of the distance. Well we had to go west to visit family and decided to stop by, and we're so glad we did. It was so worth the time. We felt like we were family there. Today I showed up and saw they had a new menu and I ordered a few things and I took a few bites and paid my bill and left. This place is trying to do way to much with the food. The atmosphere of the place is good the service is good but truly the food is a let down. I probably won't be returning I've been here many times and just never really found anything that tasted all that great. I was able to make a same-day dining reservation online, and found parking right across the street. The menu offers a variety without being overwhelming and as an allergy family, I am so thankful for the clear and thoughtful labeling of the menu items and ingredients! My party enjoyed the Duck Fat Fries, Chicken French Toast (w a substitution of the almond chicken tenders), the kid's Quesadilla w honeyed apples, and the Detroit Pastrami w Goat Cheese Balls. Every single thing exceeded our expectations! Off the charts flavor and generous portions! They brought a large cruet of warm maple syrup to accompany my Cuban-style French toast, which I hesitated to use at first (the dish is served with berries and spicy jam) but I'm glad I gave it a try. Our server was warm, thoughtful and efficient, and even made a barely perceptible but very much appreciated gesture of inclusion that demonstrated that the messaging on the chalkboard in the entry is more than just decor and integrated into the culture of the business. Wife and I stopped here for brunch while in town for the weekend. Walked in at 10:30am on a Saturday, got seated upstairs within 5-7 minutes. Hostess and waitress were both exceptionally friendly and kind. The brunch menu offered a nice variety of locally-sourced food options (including some vegetarian and gluten-free). They also have local coffee, drip cold brew, and some breakfast cocktails. No espresso machine, though. Chicken & Biscuit - a massive biscuit that was beautifully light and fluffy, with a nicely crisped top layer. Three large chicken drumsticks that were covered with very crispy breading; a tart cherry jam; and some light greens on top. Overall, I loved this entree's balance of textures and flavors. 5/5 Avocado Toast - so normally, I scoff at the idea of paying $16 for something so basic & inexpensive. But this entree came with two eggs (ours were poached very nicely), a sweet squash compote (tasty but way too chilled), three large slices of fresh sourdough, some light greens, a huge dollop of whipped goat cheese, and a small mountain of avocado. It was actually too much avocado, we couldn't finish all of it. Overall, they managed to justify the price (many places don't manage that), but the entree earns a 4/5; it's missing that unifying "wow" factor (the squash compote was just too freezing cold to accomplish this). We did like that they left all the components separate on the plate (rather than piling everything together). We ended up using the goat cheese on the chicken/biscuit/jam dish - a pro move would be to order that goat cheese as an add-on to the chicken & biscuits. I usually never order a sweet breakfast and when I do I only take two bites and call it quits because of how sweet it is. This was the opposite, I nearly finished the whole thing! My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of the ghost hot sauces. Anytime he ever sees chicken and waffles he always has to get it. Not realizing it's a two level establishment, I was grateful to have what appeared to be 1 of 4 tables. Don't make the same mistake I did and think that you should order only one order of the goat cheese balls because you "like to share". No. Order one for yourself and don't be ashamed not to share. Why is this a five star review? Everything was above and beyond my normal expectations. From the price point to the pickup, it was an excellent experience. Honestly they could charge a bit more for their food and I would find a way to afford it. The person who took our order over the phone: friendly and efficient. When we picked up our food: the people who greeted us were so friendly; they went over our order and made sure everything was accurate. Packaging is super cute. This place is a total gem. read more
