I can't think of a single reason to go to Charlie Mops. Expect them to nickel and dime you for everything. I haven't used the restroom, but it wouldn't surprise me if they charged a dollar to use it, another dollar for toilet paper, and another dollar to wash your hands. Oh yea, if you use a credit card (like almost everyone does), be prepared yet another charge for that. There's no reason reason to waste your time or money for mediocre food and service at Charlie Mops when you can literally just walk across the street and get a great meal at Mason Jar. There are several other places close by that are better options. Stay away from this dump. I gave Charlie Mops one star because there's not a ZERO star option! read more

I'll keep it SHORT AND SWEET: BUT, first things first. If you notice, pretty much all of the bad reviews were written 3 or 4 years ago. Apparently, things are better now! Basically, I really liked the place. The food was above average for a bar. The beer selection was very good but not exceptional. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable. For me service was excellent. If the British wish to pretend that Charlie Mops (rhymes with barley hops) invented beer, let them. (We know it was probably invented in the middle east about 13,000 years ago). For now, I'll accept that Charlie Mops is a cool place just north of the Michigan Line, where I can get a great burger and a beer (and play a few games of Dig Dug). 4 to 5 stars!! I was there today with 4 other people got the burgers and endless fries like we been doing every week The dark hair lady (bartender) we had was amazing she left her shift was over the young blonde girl that took over was so rude! My brother ordered fries half hr later nothing I ordered fries got them about 15 minutes later we had empty beer bottles never was asked if we wanted another beer so my brother asked for the bill about 10 minutes later I made a comment to him saying " i wonder how long it will take to get our bill " the blond came to me and said" im not here twiddling my thumbs " I told her I was taking to my brother not her! We were going to another place across the street but decided on a whim to stop here instead. The restaurant was very clean and the servers and host were very good. There is a good selection of food in the bar/pub type style and we enjoyed it very much. There are lots of draft beers to choose from and sports on the many televisions around the restaurant. Really this is more like a 3.5 - 3.75 star place. We tried it because the place we wanted to go to had closed at 4 PM on a Saturday. Pleasantly surprised. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and elevated bar food. I ordered the Bacon mushroom swiss burger with tots and girlfriend ordered the Nashville chicken and waffles. Both were good. Whoa! Had I known this local had such great food, idda been coming here 8 days a week! Garlic cheese curds....fkn excellent! Burgers....made the way you order them and they come out HOT off the grill! And they have a Mango Jalapeno Margarita that is actually quite tasty, more on the mango side if you're worried about the spiciness. But...dude...the Cole Slaw is bland AF! Come on...you gotta use some sort of slaw dressing with flavor. And the portion size...don't be so stingy...cabbage ain't going to break the bank. read more

I ordered a chicken bacon ranch sandwich with grilled chicken. The bacon was nice and thick. They have their own ranch sauce which was excellent on the sandwich. My wife ordered the mushroom appetizer and loved it. I tried it and the mushrooms were on a french onion type of soup. They were awesome. I would definitely come back here. Great beer choices too. Honestly, this restaurant is good and if asked to go there by friends, I'd say "sure". You won't get a bad meal here. We've been there many times and each time has been satisfying. However, it is a place that just does not excel. In other words, there are better choices in the area. I don't want to infer that it's just so-so though.. it's better than that. Cute little bar & grill, nice to have another local place to get a quick burger. We ordered the nachos, cheese curds, kickstart my heart burger, blt & chicken bacon ranch sandwich. All were great! Pub chips were well seasoned & cheddar ale dip was creamy and delicious. Really appreciate that they used fresh romaine instead of iceberg (on both nachos & entrees). Curds were also well seasoned, really enjoyed the extra Parmesan on top & the seasoned batter on them. The sidewinder fries were a nice twist on regular fries, especially nice because after getting the chips we were almost pouting we didn't get those with our sandwiches instead of (what we thought would be) boring regular fries. All 3 sandwiches were cooked perfectly & came out hot. Service was fast & pleasant and restaurant was sparklingly clean from moment we walked in. Went to one of the private soft openings. Ordered a beer and was brought the wrong one after waiting about 10 mins to get it. Food was meh. Had Mac and cheese with pretzel crumbs. Bland. Friend had a tiny cheeseburger that came with no toppings. Had to ask for lettuce and tomato, then wait 10 mins for someone to bring it. Brought out our appetizer after our main dishes. Never asked if we wanted more drinks. I would expect they would want feedback from the people attending these events but the owner was in the entry area when we left and said nothing nor even made eye contact. Maybe they will get their issues figured out once the open, but I will not be going back to find out. read more

It was just okay. The waitress was brand new (I'm guessing) since she had to go check on every question we had (do you carry Michelob?) and then brought us the wrong thing. My hubby had the BLT and the bacon was so ever cooked it literally crumbled when he bit into it. I had the chicken chunks which tasted like they came out of a bag. We won't be returning. First time visiting. They have all the things one would like about a place to drink and watch a game. Golden Tee, Keno, a LOT of tv's, and comfortable bar stools. The food was ok, and I've learned my lesson not to order med-we'll burgers. Seems no one can get it right. With my burger, I ordered the house made chips but was brought fries. When I asked if I could have the chips, she said yes and also received an eye-roll from the waitress. Whatever...potatoes, potato's right? She just didn't seem to want to be there. Also had an order of chunks, which seemed to be only 9. Think it was $9. Spoke to one of the bartenders and she was exceptionally nice. I'll stop back again to try some other menu items and see what happens. read more

Burger was good and fairly priced since it was on special. Chicken chunks were just ok. BLT was also just ok. The sourdough was very hard and dry. Onion rings were good, but we've had better. The side salad is presented like a wedge. Also over priced as all it has was iceberg lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and some croutons. We were disappointed that a place like this charges for each individual ranch. I get it if it's an extra side for onion rings or something, but chicken chunks that already cost $9 an order should come with a side of ranch. The cookie dough cheesecake was pretty good, but had a piece of the paper wrapper stuck to it that I had to pull out of my mouth. Overall it's a nice place, but overpriced. if you like a wedding reception hall atmosphere, then this is the place for you. The restaraunt is also extremely noisy! We had ordered some appetizers , such as the pretzel bites and cheese curds. We were not impressed with either. The cheese curds were deep fried too long and the sauce for the pretzel bites tasted more like turkey flavored gravy instead of cheese ( I am thinking it was gravy). When I asked if they had any beer menu the waitress said yes! She then handed me her order book a with a list of beer on a torn piece of paper taped onto it. No list is provided to the customer at the table. I ended up not getting any beer, since she was hovering over me waiting for me to pick a beer! As for the main course, I had ordered a burger and asked for it to be medium. I ended up getting a well done burger and burnt on the outside. The only bright spots seem to be their fries, my daughter said her Mops Mac was good and our pops were kept full. I also will add that never through the meal were we asked if any of our food was okay! read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars because I like the blue cheese bacon wedge salad and the chunks are ok. However I won't be coming back. I cannot handle the extremely horrible lighting, feels like a poorly lit garbage. No exaggerations here, I'm actually surprised this wasn't mentioned in the other reviews, very depressing and a regretful dinner experience. Also the place has the word hops in its title and their beer menu couldn't be more basic. My other problem with the name is that it is an Irish reference and Irish pub style restaurants are known for their beautiful bars and pub like ambiance, maybe even a few Irish items on the menu, but not this place. It leaves a lot to be desired for sure. What they're lacking in ambiance is barely making up for it with their food and service. Also no kids cups or menus. I would recommend mason jar, the food is better but so greasy that you walk out smelling like a fry cook. If you have to dine in the area, and looking for pub style go to Quimby's. read more

Website and Facebook state they close at 10, at 9:20 we decided to leave after the bartender turned off the music and started blaring the township meeting on the television.
