I've lived in the neighborhood over 5yrs and I've walked by a million times never bothered to go in. Today was the day and as most of you know a barber shop at 4pm on Friday is virtually impossible. My son is autistic and he's had a few bad experiences with barbers. So I searched for nearly 2 years to find a barber that was comfortable cutting hair for a child with autism and had experience with them. It is very scarce but I happened to come across Robert at the Outsiders and it's been beyond my expectations so far. We've been to him twice so far and both times he has been beyond accommodating and patient with my son. We still have some issues, which is to be expected but compared to what my son's previous experiences with barbers have been. His experiences with Robert have been a breath of fresh air. My son has been able to sit on his own with occasional prompts and can usually be calmed quickly when he becomes startled. Which has never been the case before. And to reiterate again Robert has been beyond accommodating. My son has finally found a new barber and Robert will never understand how much my family appreciates that. I arrived at this business at 8:55am in hopes to be the first one in. The business is claimed to be open by 9am. The time is now 9:15am and still the business remains closed. A business that is unable to open on time is not worth your money. I recommend this business be considerate of their customers time. read more

No Star!!! I went as a walk in today and was helped right away. I checked out their Instagram before i went in, and all the barbers have pretty good fades so i said okay i'll give them a try. Now I asked for a "0 Mid Fade with a backdrop and keep the sides long to come down" Which is pretty normal and Nothing off the top. ...But... First of all the barber's clippers kept tugging my scalp then He gave a Super High fade and I lost all my Side Part Hair... and now that i have taken a Shower and Styled it my fade is Super Patchy and So Uneven!!! And to top it all of my Forehead Line is at a slant and way to far up... I am so Upset, It looks like my 12 Nephew gave a haircut... Never Again... WORST HAIRCUT EVER!!!!!! read more

Found this place because of yelp we live in Bellflower so we wanted to find a place that was local because we will be cutting our sons hair every 2-3weeks. James helped us out and he did a great job with my sons hair. He listened to what we wanted and also showed us some other styles that would work with what we were asking. I found this place on Yelp, called Robert explained my situation, he said that he wanted to help. He was extremely patient with my son and was able to fix his hair. i felt welcomed on my first time which usually doesnt happen too often at barbershops these days. most barbers carry a "cooler than thou" aura-- not the guys at Outsiders. Rob is the only guy i trust with my hair. He's got skills, but what really sets him apart is how he makes relationships with his customers. I was in there the other day and found out the guy ahead of me had been going to Rob since he was in highschool. I wasnt even surprised-- i've been coming to him for over a year now and don't see myself going to anyone else for the next 10 years. Defintely give these guys a go. It's unfortunate before today's appointment I would have rated them 5 stars but after today's session with my son, a rude comment was made as I walked out the door "if that was my kid I would of whooped his ass" my son is an Autistic 3 year old who looks a lot older than he is, we have good days and bad days today he was a little scared of getting hair cut. I live in Huntington Beach, On my way home from work I stopped at Jack in the box on Rosecrans to get some food. And saw the Barber shop. I needed a hair cut so I went in. Edwin cut my hair. It was by FAR, the best hair cut I have had in YEARS! He cut my hair and wrapped my head in a hot towel and messaged my head. When he was done I asked him how much I owed him expecting to pay 20-30 dollars. He charged me $15! UNBEATABLE HAIRCUT! Thank you Edwin! PS. I have taken my brother to James a couple times, and I am always impressed by his cutting skills. He always works with my schedule and makes it happen when I need an emergency hair cut. My brother introduced me to Rob a couple years back and I have been getting my haircut with him ever since. One of the reasons I keep coming back is that he always takes his time even if the shop is busy. He pays close attention to detail, and doesn't try to overstep the customers needs and style. If you're in the mood to chat it up he will, or if you just want to relax and get your cut he gets that too. The shop overall has a down to earth vibe and all the barbers are top notch. I personally only see Rob, but each barber has their own set of loyal customers. I have been living in the OC area for a couple years now but happy to make the drive down. We have a few favorite barbershops we usually go to. As a first time customer (bringing my four year old) to this location, I am incredibly pleased. We were greeted with a smile before we walked in. We didn't have an appointment and we didn't have to wait long for a Tuesday afternoon. The barber used a colorful cape with Lightening McQueen characters, which made my son smile. The barber asked questions about the style we wanted and he got to work right away. He wasn't rushing through the job and he was accurate with perfecting the looking we were hoping for. He achieved a great haircut considering we didn't give him very many pointers but he had an amazing gift for understanding the client's needs. Clean, well lit work environment and the coolest Craftsman toolboxes as workstations for the barbers. It's a cash only establishment so come prepared. It's great to be able to add a new favorite barbershop to our list of preferred places for our 4 year old to get his haircut.
