This place is wonderful. I had my first lesson here with Talia, she is the best instructor, very articulated, full of experience, and extremely friendly and patient. I had an opportunity to walk around afterwards during the horses meal time, and noticed the animals here are very well taken care off with people who love and understand them. Thrilled with my experience, and looking forward for more!

Paddock is by far the best stables in Los Angeles. Of you are looking for amazing equestrian training and the safest footing in Los Angeles this is your training facility. I enjoy that it feels like your in the country and its just 10 minutes from downtown LA.

Great facility, just a hidden jewel in a shady part of town. Best to drive to area earlier in the day.

How much for basic flat lessons for two riders (small group) We are older ladies trying to get back in riding shape, one is advanced the other is a novice rider?

The Paddock has 11 independent trainers resident on the property. You would need to contact each one to get a proper answer to that question. The good news is it is all levels of writing and fitness.

Jane Mcloud is an excellent Dressage trainer and I would say to go with Karen Perlow if you are more into the hunter/ jumper world.

She always explains the reasoning behind her instructions so you aren't just learning motions, you are actually gaining understanding. She treats the safety of her horses and riders with the utmost respect and works with each individuals specific wants and limitations. I personally don't like riding with trainers that yell at their students (let alone belittle them), and this is part of why I genuinely enjoy my lessons with Michelle. She doesn't yell, she doesn't discipline you when you are trying to learn to control a total of eight limbs all at once. The patient reminders about how to fix what I'm doing wrong make the lessons feel like team are a team working towards a goal together. While I don't personally own a horse, I hope to have one of my own in her care one day. I always see her discussing horse needs and game planning with owners. There is no pressure to compete or have specific goals for you and your horse. Michelle has done an excellent job growing a group of lesson students and clients that all simply want to enjoy learning about and spending time with horses. Each day at the barn is a pleasure and the highlight of my week.

This is a historic barn, yes. I grew up around here and have had horses my entire life. If you want…read moreto be in this area, try San Pasqual Stables. Look at the difference between these two places. Arroyo has small dirty stalls that don't get cleaned on Sunday, unfinished messes and old dirty tools spread in various spots around the entire property. The worst part is neglectful owners that don't show up and force the horses to live in tiny stalls that hardly get to come out. Even if they get out once in a while from other people helping, it's not enough. That is Neglect. Just read the stories from past boarders. More than 6 horses and boarders that I know, have recently moved out because of this ramshackled, poorly managed barn. You never really know the truth unless you're there everyday. Pretty sad.

Based on my experience, I would not consider this a secure or dependable boarding option and…read morerecommend prospective boarders carefully evaluate alternatives. The personal relationship between ownership and management can blur professional boundaries and contribute to favoritism and inconsistent accountability. Facility maintenance, safety standards, biosecurity practices, and overall organization need significant improvement. While some staff members work hard to keep the place running and are very kind, larger management issues remain unresolved. During my stay, the facility admitted a sick horse, which is believed to have resulted in a strangles outbreak that infected my horse and others. I personally took the initiative to obtain a formal diagnosis, which identified the illness affecting the barn, and voluntarily invested my own time and money into professional grade disinfectants to thoroughly clean the property. Despite these contributions, my horse and I were held to stricter standards than others, including requiring hospitalization longer than medically necessary, accumulating additional costs. Multiple break ins occurred, including people entering at night and dogs getting through dilapidated fencing. One horse was mauled by a dog and required hospitalization. Pros: The boarder community here is unmatched. Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. While I do not recommend boarding here for reliability or peace of mind, you may make many wonderful friends. Could you have success here? Sure. Many people have. Things go well, until they don't. Is it worth the gamble and frustration of being at the whim of management that sometimes seems to run this barn informally rather than as a professional business? For me, no. I recommend boarding elsewhere.
