I completely disagree with most of the reviews here, about The Pain Center in Prescott! I suspect most of them are junkies looking for pills. Unlike in CA, AZ doesn't just hand out oxycodone without making you jump through some hoops; you are not going to get an immediate prescription, and likely, no matter how long you've been taking oxy, they're rightly going to start you out at an entry-level, like 5/325, or they might start you off with Tramadol. I lived with back pain for about 15 years, only getting oxy. The Pain Center actually diagnosed the problems and suggested the surgeries & implant. I only take oxy now, like 2-3 times per month! I've been a patient of TPC for several years. I've been operated on by both Dr's Siwek (jr & sr), and by Dr. Park, before he left the practice. I've also been seen by Dr. Jones. All of the doctors and staff are outstanding! They do procedures, either in their clinics, or in surgery centers, which I prefer. I have bad arthritis all throughout my spine & pelvis. I had an Abbott neurostimulator, with two leads up inside my spinal canal that helps mitigate my lumbar pain, and I recently had both my sacroiliac joints fused. Dr. Siwek (jr) did the Abbott implant, and Dr. Siwrk (sr) did my two SI fusions. It can be difficult to have a sit-down, face-to-face meeting with the TPC doctors, due to time constraints, especially in Prescott, but they're excellent surgeons. One of the criteria I use for recommending *ANY* doctor, is that they must have a good sense of humor, and not take themselves too seriously. That's been my experience with Dr's Park, both Dr's Siwek, and Dr. Jones: They are all good-natured, and easy to talk to. And IMO, the staff at the TPC Prescott clinic, and the staff at ASSC are also top-notch. If all you want is oxy, go to a pain management clinic in CA, or buy your drugs off the street. Arizona has a drug problem, and they've rightly made it harder for addicts to get drugs. I got the surgeries because I wanted to get off the drugs! read more

Excellent service for treatment of chronic lower back pain. I have had RFA (radiofrequency ablation) of the left and right S1 lateral nerve for sacroiliac joint dysfunction, as well as medial branch nerve RFA from L1-L5 to alleviate pain associated with facet joint syndrome. The procedures (two visits) were done without anesthesia and were relatively painless. The procedures were performed by Dr. Steven Siwek, who is excellent at performing minimally invasive procedures to treat conditions like back pain, nerve pain, and other chronic pain syndromes. Highly recommended for quick, professional treatment by a superior, caring staff. read more

I had an appointment today may 8 at 2:45pm . When I walked in nobody was in the front part of the office the lady was talking about 5 to 10 min talking and when she looked up and saw me she kinda just dismissed me and I had to say oh hi I have appointment today and she no you don't . I suppose to leave at 12 you don't have an appointment and kinda walks and does her own things. Absolutely horrible place. Don't waste your time. Says they are a pain center but all they care about is opening you up to do surgery and implanting devices into you. All I wanted was to be out of my pain I've been in for 2 years they judged me the second I walked in the door. Customer service is appalling and terrible. They make you feel like a number not a person. Bed side manor is horrible. I saw some lady who was completely rude to me told me what to do in my home to change my life by putting night lights everywhere what does that have to do with my pain? The care here is terrible I wasted 2 hours of my life for them to tell me I got denied care because I wouldn't accept their devices to be surgically implanted into my spine and ankles. Sorry but I'm not going to be a guinea pig for you guys. This place need to be shut down. read more

I have been impressed with this office from the very first day I started with them. They are professional, kind, smart, and very compassionate. I cannot say enough about how well I was treated while being at The Pain Center for my first injection for nerve pain in my neck. Everyone from Theresa at the front desk to Dr. T. who did the injection, the anesthesiologist, the RN, all listened patiently to my concerns. I was in and out in about 45 minutes, that's a first in my experience for a procedure requiring anesthesia. I won't even go for my first appointment. Here's the story: I have had a horrible experience before even setting foot in their miserable so-called practice. A woman called to set up an appointment, talked so fast I had to listen to the message about five times to even identify who left the message. My wife who hears better than I, had to listen a couple of times to get who the caller was. When I called back the connection was poor. I plugged in the extension number and got the message "the person you are trying to reach is unavailable" - no opportunity to leave a message. Then the system went back to the original menu, so I chose #2 to make an appointment, then the original message started over again. I tried #2 once more with the same result, so I hung up. Next I left a request for an appointment using the on-line "Request an appointment" form. By later the next day I had no reply, so I filled out the form once more. That was a few days ago and still no reply, but I DID get a letter telling me to call another number for an appointment. I called and again with a terrible sounding connection, I was eventually connected with a nice young woman named Katie, who made an appointment for me for 2:45 today. She confirmed that time two more times. Then I received an email telling me to register on the website and fill out some forms. In the process I saw they had my appointment listed as 3:30, so I sent an angry message (no cussing or name calling) telling them I would be there at 2:45 for my appointment. I filled out four out of five forms, basically all disclaiming any responsibility for anything other than charging me money and sharing my medical information. I refused to sign one form that allowed them to charge me $25 if I show up late for an appointment or miss an appointment for any reason and basically talking to me as if I were a misbehaving child. Today I received an email notice of a reply to my message where I said I would be there at 2:45. Upon checking the Pain Center website to get the reply mentioned in the email, I read a message that discourteously told me all new patients must show up 45 minutes early to fill out paperwork. There was no mention of this in my phone conversation with Katie and I saw no mention anywhere on the website (which is pitifully slow BTW). And this was after spending about an hour filling out paperwork online. I will not be going to The Pain Center for any reason! I will find some other facility to help me with my back pain. I think the reason it's called The Pain Center is because they are a pain to deal with. read more

I don't have much experience with pain management centers. This one today was fantastic. The staff is great and Dr. Dais was AMAZING! I felt so much better mentally, felt more confident and know I am in good hands. They listened intently and did not make me feel weird about wanting medications as the last resort. I am a person experiencing ongoing pain and I am very upset with everything surrounding my appointment this morning. The pain clinic made sure they collected my co-pay as soon as I walked in their door. If they were like my other medical units--who collect after services have been rendered--they would not have been paid. My appointment with the doctor resulted in being informed they could not treat me as I was still within six months of my back surgery. Their appointment scheduler did not ask me if I am 6 months post surgery; otherwise, I would have saved myself from wasting my time and my money. This does not include the inappropriate billing to my insurance company. I do not like nor do I appreciate paying for nothing; my insurance company shouldn't have to either. When I got home; I got on the company's website and wrote a testimonial about my poor patient-centered care experience with this organization. Customer service soon called me but there was an absence of a genuine desire to understand what my frustration was; it wasn't a pleasant conversation and further exasperated the poor experience I had. This is the first time I've spent my energy writing a negative public review and I have no desire for any further association with the Pain Center in Prescott, AZ. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. A dear friend of mine was referred here by his new PCP after his old PCP retired. He was terrified and with good reason. Every negative review here written is 100% true. My friend has suffered multiple accidents which have resulted in spinal and brain trauma and left him in pain for which he has been prescribed opioid pain meds for YEARS. When he went, Dr. Tsang didn't listen to his how horrifically he was in pain any more than the new PCP did. Nor did he prescribe a single scrip that would help my friend gradually come back down off of opioid medications and switch to something else. No, he completely dismissed my friend's pain AND the dangers of taking him off opioids he has been on for years and years cold turkey. He didn't even treat my friend with a smidgen of respect for the withdrawal symptoms he will now need to suffer in addition to the pain that is no longer being treated. I'm not a medical doctor, but even I am smart enough to know that you do NOT just yank a patient off opioids without giving them anything at all to help with the withdrawal symptoms. I mean, I understand our federal government is crazy and putting restrictions on doctors, but forcing a patient to literally go cold turkey is insane and unbearably cruel. What's even worse, they made my friend out to be an addict, a horrible person, for using legally prescribed pain meds -- medicine he had printouts of years and years and years of legally prescribed use to document -- to treat unbearable pain. Instead of being met with empathy, he was met with skepticism and made to feel like a criminal. If you're going to work with chronic pain patients, a freaking prerequisite should be at least a modicum of empathy. This practice obviously has none. I'd avoid this place at all costs. read more

There are way too many things to list here so i am going to summarize it. Dr. Tsang was rude obnoxious mean aggressive and tried to say that we were inappropriate to staff when all i did was defend my 84 year old mother against his insinuations. He claimed i got in his face well not quite believe me he would have known if i was in his face because i wouldn't have been three feet away. I would never recommend this guy to anyone and if the pain centers of arizona decide he is worth keeping after everything i have sent them about him then they are not worth going to either. This guy took my mom off of the normal dose of medication for pain that she was receiving from her primary care physician, which was confirmed by the drug store, and cut her to one third of her normal dose then said that we were lying to him about her dosage even when he didn't have her file in front of him. He said she escalated her medication when all she did was take it when she was in pain which was her normal dosage from her previous doctor. This man needs to lose his job and if i can get it done i will. If i could give him a negative 5 stars i would. Bottom line do not go to see this doctor at all. I can hardly even refer to him as a doctor. He was too arrogant and has god syndrome really bad. He doesn't listen to his patient and if you want to see more negative reviews on him just search his name on google and you will see how bad he really is. I only put one star cause I can't post zero stars. First off I chose this location cause it is closer to where I live. I arrive at my appointment time and waited for an hour and half. The staff wasn't that friendly. I seen my medicine doctor and she was rude and only gave me three minutes of my time and denied me of my meds. She told me to go to my original doctor . I felt like she discriminated me and her explanation of why she discharged me from the program was not right. I won't ever go to this place or this pain center . The people here are only there for their paychecks not for the care of the patients. read more

If i could give less than a one star i would. This place promised my mother that they would get her seen by specialists and never followed through and after two weeks we called to check up on it and they said that it was our responsibility to do that. They never informed my mother or myself of this or we would have made the arrangements. Not only is the doctor arrogant but he is very rude and so is the staff there. My mother went in to get her back looked at and get some pain management scheduled. The doctor never looked at her back never took an xray never got her scheduled for an ultra sound or any other test so he could see what was going on with her back. Instead he cut her existing pain medication by 75% and sent us on our way. Needless to say my mother couldn't go with just one pill per day for her pain, her back was literally in an s shape so any position she was in was painful. The main office in the Phoenix area has ignored the bad reviews on this so called doctor and continues to use him. I blame him for my mothers death as she had been planning on going to Italy with me next year so when she was hospitalized in January of this year when they went to discharge her she chose to go into hospice because of the way this doctor treated her and made getting any help near impossible. Needless to say by the end of January my mother passed away. Her last words to me before she went into hospice was "i can finally get this pain in my back gone, maybe they will hook me up with a doctor that cares" I do not recommend any one go to this place at all. If i had seen these other reviews before i took her there my mother would still be with us. read more

Absolutely worse experience ever! I have been in the customer service industry for the better part of my adult life, and the service I received today was anything but. So bad, that I will be contacting attorney's for possible legal ramifications. Came in this morning (from Prescott Valley, a 30 minute drive) for an 11:15am appointment, an appointment I received a confirmation email for just 3 days ago, only to be told my appointment had been moved to 6/1. I asked if they had ever planned on letting me know this? Frustrated that after more than a month of horrible back pain while waiting for this appointment, I now found myself with another appointment date I neither scheduled or agreed to, while the lady just asked, "well do you want me to write down your new appointment time?". I advised her no, that I wouldn't be coming back for another appointment, I was scheduled for today. I stated that this was B.S. (literally stating the letters) when another older woman approached and advised me I didn't need to use profanity. I said B.S. is not profanity, "Yes it is" she said. No it isn't, not on any planet! What's the problem she said. Really... You didn't just hear everything that happened (She was standing approximately 3 feet behind us the whole time, leering over). Yes I did, she answered. Then you know what the problem is. Well we've been having issues with our scheduling this week, ok, that's not my problem. Then she stared at me intently. I never agreed to an appointment for 6/1. I'd like to know who scheduled me for it. Oh, well we have a service... I told her this was horrible, as was her customer service, and the holier than thou way she approached me, she advised me I needed to seek treatment elsewhere. I said absolutely! My fiance was recently seen here for lidocaine injections in her lower back. They did not use correct sedation and were incapable of listening to her needs which resulted in her agonizing pain for the next few days. Her mom politely relayed to the physician (Dr. Tsang) that she was unhappy about her daughter's treatment and was concerned about the lack of attention to her daughter's needs. My fiance went in to see them again today to continue treatment, against our better judgement, and was refused medical help. Their excuse was that the risks outweighed the benefits. But it was clear to us that the refusal came not from risks, but from his own personal and selfish reasons. The offense he took from the constructive criticism popped his enflated ego and my fiance was denied medical treatment. We find this mans behavior not only unprofessional but also highly irresponsible. If you are considering a similar treatment or any treatment for that matter at this medical office I urge you to rethink your course of action and look elsewhere for treatment. read more

I've been coming to Pain Management for a couple of years. The general staff is very friendly & professional with the exception of the office manager. On more than one occasion she has addressed some of her staff in a derogatory way. Not professional at all. She should stay more in the background so patients don't hear how she administers the staff. On the other hand Dr Tsang is a great doctor & makes up for some of the poor staffing. read more

Terrible, just terrible. I've requested to see Dr.Tsang multiple times for the excruciating pain I have on a daily basis. No one in their office cares, and they are impossible to get ahold of..emphasis on IMPOSSIBLE. I've been prescribed medications that are useless, and the doctor knows but does not care. I've received injections that ended with me being in the emergency room, and the Dr had nothing to say. I will not be coming here again and think this Office is the worst doctors office I've ever experienced. read more

If I could give a negative star I would!!! The Pain Center treats you like you are a criminal from the first moment you step into the office. No trial required- you're obviously a sneaky liar, no matter what you say! I relocated from Indiana and was so excited by what I read on their website. But don't believe it! When I first met with the pain physician in Prescott Valley, Dr. Tsang, I told him I had a 3-month prescription from my former pain physician who had been my doctor for over 8 years and was more of a friend. He said he would also give me a one-month prescription. He told me to bring whichever prescription I didn't fill to my next appointment and he would shred it. He instructed me to get an MRI of my spine (herniated discs/degenerative disc disease). He talked about trying injections for my knee pain (Avascular Necrosis). I was happy! I filled the 3-month prescription because it was 3 months and from my doctor friend. I took the other prescription to my next appointment. I was put in a room. "Helen" came in. She started interrogating me like a suspect. She asked: "So why DID you move to Arizona?" (Insinuating I moved to be closer to Mexico and cheap drugs or something.). No matter what I said, she shook her head to indicate she didn't believe me. I had never met this woman!!! I had only met Dr. Tsang once!!! I asked to speak with him but Helen wouldn't let me. I was tried and convicted in that little room. I was horrified by the insinuation that I was some sneaky criminal only trying to score narcotics. I have never been in trouble with the law. I have Lupus, Avascular Necrosis, Sjogren's, Raynaud's, CRPS, 2 herniated discs, degenerative disc disease. I had a cerebral hemorrhage when I was 17. Although I have dealt with pain for 38 years, I have never abused drugs, never been addicted. I have a Master's Degree; I studied in France. I have NEVER been treated like that by any healthcare professional in those 38 years! I think every person at The Pain Center has completely forgotten the Hippocratic Oath and "first, do no harm". They harmed me in so many ways. I strongly recommend you avoid that institution like the plague!!! read more

Dr. Tsang has a god complex and doesn't care about your pain!!! WORST experience EVER!! Everyone in the office is condescending & uncaring. I have degenerative disk disease, degenerative joint disease, stenosis in my cervical & lumbar, bone spurs, osteoarthritis, spondylosis, fusions w/hardware, carpal tunnel and TMJ. & have been in pain management for 17 yrs.. Sadly i had to change pain centers due to a move of over 100 miles. My appt time was told to me wrong, someone else was put in front of me. 4 hours later the Dr Tsang comes in, brief, rude, cutting me off often, smirking tells me "today you will get none of your pain meds, I will only do injections". My surgeon at BARROWS NEUROLOGICAL INSTITUTE told me no more injections because they were then Tsang proceeds to tell me its because they ( at BNI) must have given me too much. Wonder if BNI would like him accusing them of malpractice and giving "too much meds in my back"?! WELL, THEN I was told i was being aggressive for crying, & out of control for complaining. I'm going back to my old Dr. the 140 mile drive every month is absolutely worth it! As a topper on the whole AWFUL "Dr. Tsang experience I had a seizure later that night and my blood pressure was out of control from the pain, and ended up in the ER. Let's see where to begin on how terrible my experience was. 1. Waited an hour and a half to be seen. 2. The medical Assistant was unable to get an accurate set of vitals because of inoperable equipment. 3. I am a burn victim and the wounds primarily affect my buttocks, upper thighs and groin area. Dr Tsang examined me semi-clothed, alone. No female staff was present. Then he tells me that "sorry there's nothing he can do." I have literally been through 5 years of doctors, burn units, physical therapy and constant agony but this establishment takes the cake. read more

Multiple times my mom and I have waited over an hour for Helen P. One time when we got there we had to reschedule our appt altogether because the computer was down. I told the doctor my mom was in a lot of pain, double torn rotary cuffs, double carpel tunnel and chronic arthritis(87 yrs old). The pills they gave her last four hours. She can only take one every 12 hrs. So the doctor said "we will schedule a test and a pain shot as soon as possible. My scheduler will call you with the appt information. Well... a month passed and we never got a call. I called the scheduler myself many times, got a voicemail, left a message and never got a return call. Over a month later we went in for an appt to get her pill prescription and complained about the lack of shot and communication. We were told that its the insurance company's fault. They take too long. They can't give her a shot until they get the insurance company's ok. When I started complaining Helen said, "ok, we give you the shot today." When I asked why it was ok now to give her the shot even though they said they hadn't got the ok yet, she said "well, I am a doctor, not an office person. When I asked why my calls were never returned, she said, "you have unrealistic expectations. I think you would be happier to go to another pain center. I said I sure would. Called to make an appointment. Explained on the phone my wife had already been to the hospital and that she needed an epidural shot in her neck for nerve pain. They told me all doctors in Phoenix were gone on vacation so I would have to go to Prescott, AZ to get it done if I needed it today. I said ok. Drove the hour and a half with my wife in extreme pain for them to tell me, "I not sure why they told you that on the phone. We can't do it today." "She does need the shot but we will have to get prior auth" I told them no you don't I have had it done my insurance does not require it. They looked it up and said yes you do. Here are pain pills that don't work. Go home we will call you when it is approved. The next day I called the insurance to try and hurry it along. Insurance told me #1 they did not do the emergency request they said they would. #2 I don't need prior Auth. Needless to say, my wife has been in extreme pain for two additional days because the Pain Center of Arizona has no idea what they are doing. Thank god they didn't actually put a needle in my wife. Beware I bet I'm not the only one with problems. By the way, Chris the operator is extremely rude and very unpleasant to talk to. Should have been an indication up front for me. I have been a patient for about 7 years. I used to travel to Anthem when they didn't have an office in Prescott. Yesterday I was discharged as a patient because of a false urinalysis. I was accused of taking medicine that I was not prescribed. I was told I had alcohol in my system. I do not drink alcohol! I have had no continuity of care because they have changed doctors more than I change my underwear since I started going to the Prescott office. I am confused and very angry that my character is now tarnished. I have basically been labeled as a drug addict and I have NEVER taken any medication that was not prescribed. I am disabled and in chronic pain and was thrown out on the street. read more
