Our 46 year old house has been painted many times in the 30 years we've lived here. It wasn't until Virgil, The Paint Hero, completed the task that it was finally done right. It took 7+ weeks of daily labor to bring the shabby to beautiful and we couldn't be happier. In a few months we'll do it again with the upstairs rooms. Virgil and his brother Jeff are skilled craftsmen. With good humor and energy they arrived every morning at 7:30 and worked until 4:30. Everyday, no problems, excuses or no-shows, on time everyday. Removed existing and Installed gorgeous new baseboards, door and window trims, which not only require precise measurements, cutting, fitting and installation but also detailed hand sanding to insure beautiful smooth connections and finish, before painting. Every room was sanded including the kitchen cabinets and drawers which were very thick with old paint. The knob holes repaired and new hinges and pulls installed. Sanding, prepping, filling dents and damaged spots on walls so everything smooth and perfect, before painting. They helped with paint and design decisions and even backed me up when I needed to 'push' other workers in the house to get their own work done correctly. Their support and high-fives were much appreciated. Job included: Large entryway with upstairs hall and linen closet & cabinets. LR, DR, Kitchen with pantry including replacing pantry shelves and repairing old plumbers' wall holes in pantry. Powder R, bedroom, replaced drywall and two large air vents, 16 doors including double exterior doors, weather stripping, handicap bar, door knobs, remove and install large bathroom mirror. Jeff fine sanded the cabinet doors almost to their original finish, smooth like new. The original 1970's brass fireplace cover was dingy and scratched. Virgil removed sanded and painted it (several layers) a sleek sharp black, which looks great against the white brick fireplace. Virgil is not a "spray and go" painter, those guys are everywhere. If you want a true craftsman and diligent professional who can give you beautiful long lasting results, call The Paint Hero. Unlike other painters whose quote visits were very perfunctory and brief and left me with in a nebulous haze, he spent his time with me to help me make the best decisions. I had recently purchased a house and the existing color points in the bedroom were more beige-brown tones. I wanted to brighten the rooms and my favorite color is gray. He was more than happy to review swatches for me in different rooms and this was tremendously helpful. He has a good eye for color pairings too and helped me pick the perfect shade of neutral gray that would fit the existing structures (bathroom flooring and cabinets). He even fixed areas where the trim separated and needed to be filled, patched wall defects left by prior owners. He works hard and with meticulous attention to detail. He also did not damage anything and cleaned up after himself, helped dispose of unwanted wall mounts and window fixtures that came with the house and brought in heavy packages for me. Virgil goes above and beyond! While others quoted doing the job for less and in one day with three painters, he took his time and did it all by himself so he could be sure the job was done right. It still took less than a week to do three rooms and two bathrooms (all walls and ceilings and even the cabinets and built-ins). My wife found Virgil on Yelp because of his reviews and his location, and I must say he truly delivered on his services. I've been around a lot of painters & construction workers, and Virgil is honest and knows his stuff. He prides himself in his work, and his work definitely shows. He'll tell you if you want it done fast, he's not your guy. But if you want it done right, then he is definitely your guy. His quote was very reasonable and his timeline was spot on. He is also very punctual. When you ask him to show up at 7am, he's at your door at exactly 7am. Takes a short break in the middle of the day, and continues to work hard & diligently throughout the entire day. When I asked to have another wall painted, since he had the extra paint to do it, he had no problem adding the extra work onto the rest of it and the small extra cost to have the work done was well worth it. He was able to take our bathroom and really clean it up with fixing a lot of past issues by patching some areas, applying texture to areas on the wall so that it all blends in, and then painting the ceiling, walls, and base boards. His cutting skills around tight areas is very clean, along with his straight lines along edges. His painting skills really show. He also painted a couple of large living room walls for us, and also patched, textured, and painted the area behind our old thermostat so I could freshen up the living room with a new Nest thermostat. We also had him paint our dining room, and paint the base boards in there and our living room, and now our house looks like a new home. We used to have flat painted walls in our living room and dining room, and per his recommendation to go with an eggshell finish so that it's very easy to keep clean with kids' hand prints on the wall, we were very glad we went with that. It doesn't looks shiny like the bathroom or kitchen looks with semi-gloss, but it also doesn't look dull like the old flat paint did. Now our walls pop more and the clean paint job that Virgil did really stands out and shows. I would highly recommend Virgil for your painting needs, as he knows what he's doing and does the job right. If you need an entire house painted, he can do it but again he's a one-man crew so it'll take awhile as he takes time to do his paintings right. If you want it done fast and cheap, look elsewhere. I am completely renovating my garage a la gurlie industrial! I am super fussy and wanted the job done right (perfect) the first time. After researching very carefully, receiving a few estimates, and taking careful consideration from what others said about Virgil and his bro, Jeff, here on Yelp, they were hired. This was a difficult job in my opinion the vaulted ceiling of plywood had to be primered and then painted through various pipes, wiring, around the heater, behind the washer and dryer, the works! The rafters I wanted clean, sanded to a very natural state; done! Beautiful! I appreciated Virgil's guidance in color-choice, an important match to cabinets I am having built; he delivered.
