The host needs a new position. I think we were in the restaurant for 15 seconds total and the host could not have been ruder. We walked in and he IMMEDIATELY looked annoyed that we were there. I said we had two people, he said "HUH?!" And rolled his eyes when I said we would put our name down. As soon as he rolled his eyes, I turned around and walked out the door. While on vacay in Destin, we went shopping at the mega gift shop next door and spotted this place on the way out. The name was catchy, so I made a mental note to come here the next day for breakfast. It was during Spring Break so the place was packed but the wait time was very reasonable. The staff was friendly and had us in and out of there in no time. How can anyone come here and not get atleast one pancake dish? It's in the name! It's not just your everyday, run of the mill buttermilk pancakes (which they do have), but they also have different batter and topping options as well. The Strawberry Fields was calling my name and a great choice it was. First off, the serving size is crazy. It can easily be shared between two or three people depending on how hungry you are. The strawberry compote on top wasn't overly sweet like I expected to be, but was a perfect pairing with the fluffy pancakes. I added a side of sausage and eggs which was kind of spendy in my book. I feel like it should be a combo option or something. The Chocolatier was a little overly indulgent and more of a dessert to me. Delicious though. A nice bite to contrast the sweet pancakes was the Atomic Bomblette. It was a spicy omelet filled with hot sausage, jalapeños, peppers, onions and mushrooms. The name was fitting because not only was it spicy, but it was a flavor bomb too. I'm always going to pick savory over sweet. We stumbled upon The Pancakery in Pensacola & it turned out to be a fantastic find! Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff were incredibly welcoming. Our waitress was exceptionally sweet & helpful. As it was our first visit, my husband asked for her breakfast recommendations, & she couldn't have been more accommodating. He loves spicy food, & she delivered just that! There is a large menu, including many coffees, benedicts, omelets, pancakes and burgers. I had the basic pancake which was a great choice. You simply must add this stop when you are in the area. Another breakfast place worth visiting when in Destin. We came at about 9am and the place was hopping. We were able to get a table but, of course it had to be cleaned off. We sat down and browsed the menu. I read the part about the owners and it was very interesting learning they are originally from outside New Orleans. They opened 2 locations one being in Destin and another in Panama City Beach. Now on to the food. My friend ordered a big plate of Pancakes and I got Bacon, Eggs, Cheese Grits and a side of pancakes. The pancakes were absolutely delicious. I always use a lot of Maple Syrup on mine. These are actually the best ones I've had in a long time and I hadn't had pancakes in years. I loved the Crispy Bacon, Runny Eggs and Cheese grits but, I love the pancakes the most even though they were small. Definitely a great place to get breakfast in Destin. The Bloody Mary was made with some good southern zing zang and had some nice toppings. Fiancé got something similar to a Bahama mama and it was also great!! I got the strawberry Nutella crepe and it was so soft and light & DELICIOUS!! Fiancé got the Crab cake Benedict & OMG ALSO DELICIOUS!!! Decent food, poor service. Strike one, I found a hair in the food. They replaced it but didn't offer to discount or comp it. We weren't asses about it, very polite. You know what, it's fair we did eat the meal so I didn't push but as a customer you feel nice about small gestures is all. Strike two, I asked for my coffee to go. Gave me a to go cup and expected me to pour my left over into it. Seriously? Even ihop will bring me a full cup of fresh coffee in this situation (I ihop a lot). Strike three, can we please get some basic checkups for coffee/water refills? Food: I had the crab island omlette. It wasn't bad. My wife had the banana foster and it was on the dry side. We asked for more sauce to compensate, it helped a bit but she was disappointed overall. Kids go basic pancakes with chocolate chips and those were fine. Food looked really good visually. For some reason my pics didn't save to yelp and I deleted them but you can see there are pics-aplenty on yelp. The yelp location is wrong for the business. It's on the wrong side of the street. There are only 12 four person tables and booths here, and six stools at the bar. That explains why it fills up so rapidly in the morning, and has an hour wait anytime 8 AM or later. Especially if there's a party more than four colon there are only two round tables that could accommodate as many as six. In June 2021 as I write this review, they also do not do TO GO orders. So it's a difficult place to eat at. The pancakes are certainly large and good to eat. I wouldn't say they are worth the great effort needed to get inside to eat: you can get as good elsewhere. read more
