Today, I had a ham and cheese panini which was so nice! Every bite contained flavour and bite. It was completely handmade as well, and not just a toaster job like in Costa. On the side were some ready salted crisps which were a nice touch. To drink I had a vanilla milkshake which was also very nice. It was very rich and sweet and complimented the panini very nicely. Before I left I visited the toilet which was very clean and had plenty of paper towels, soap and toilet paper. The walls were filled with pictures of boats which was fitting for the setting! I would imagine that it gets pretty busy with yummy mummies taking their precious baby-boos out for some porridge while they gossip away about their no good dirty rotten cheating boyfriends. The decor of the place just seemed like that would happen, with a kids corner and colourful clocks covering the walls. No visit is complete without a wander around the famous bookshop which it is connected to after!

I get it - my lifestyle choice is to not eat meat, so I limit myself. But honestly, this cafe just wound me up. Menu was way too brief, place was full of cyclists tucking into bacon rolls, and in the limited cold counter I couldn't see anything but meat. So, for my Sunday breakfast, maybe I could have gone with a fried egg sandwich, but you know what, I am sick of egg sandwiches. Anywhere I go for breakfast, it is too common a staple because my choice is otherwise limited. So here, I plumped for a cup of tea. In fairness, when I asked what the menu was, and the cook shouted out that I could have bacon, sausage, or mince pies... he did also add that I could have anything I wanted (it felt too busy and too awkward to reply with I don't eat meat...). The problem was, with what I could see in front of me, that didn't ring true. So the silent reviewer had a bacon roll (bread good, bacon so-so) and I bought a plastic sandwich from the Co-Op next door. Crap by any standards, but at least I could see what choice I had.

I had the best ham and cheese toastie of my life there recently. I'm still removing mozzarella from my arteries. I've had great macaroni cheese too and last time I narrowly missed out on the home made roast beef and mash. Need to get there earlier next time!

She was flustered annoyed and intimidating. I was actually going to suggest the man be on tills while the women make drinks but her attitude scared me to do so! There's just something "more" to it that makes it special. I recently bought beans (flavor notes of "jammy" and "honey"; it's SO GOOD), and it seems like I can reuse the canister for a discounted refill the next time I'm here! We came to North Berwick from Edinburgh for the day via a very easy 30 min train ride. Steampunk is located in the back of a building on the main street of North Berwick. It is sparsely decorated but the theme seems to be related to bicycles. We stopped in for midday iced lattes and a snack. The lattes were good and I appreciate their to go cups and straws are all paper based. The granola bar we grabbed did not impress me at face value but wow was it delicious. Like chewy granola with some cinnamon added in. It was the perfect sweet pairing to the latte. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating here.
