Such a beautiful little specialty paper shop! It reminded me of Paper Source, but I love that it's locally owned and operated. Great variety of stationery and card stock. They also have some paper crafting tools like die cuts, rubber stamps and embossing stamps and powders. I picked up some embossing supplies and adhesives here. I want to come back for one of their card making classes! They offer one weekly and update the schedule on their website. You can also just order the card kit to do at home. This store is so cute! It's a little crowded but that's fine for the type of store it is. Plus it means that there's more for us to see! The two ladies working there are very friendly and helpful. I wish they had more Asian rubber stamps but that's ok I don't really need more. We found quite a number of things for 2 people not looking for anything. I got a couple cards and I think 8 pens. Wow, I was in search of a birthday card for my wife and stumbled into this wonderful stationary and gift shop. They have beautiful handmade cards, wrapping paper, gifts, and more. The highlight of the store are Stephanie and Kelly, who informed me that they will wrap gifts for free if you buy their wrapping paper, which is a fantastic service. After purchasing one of their gorgeous handmade birthday cards, I returned with a bunch of unwrapped gifts I had purchased for my wife's birthday, but had yet to wrap. Stephanie and Kelly did an unbelievable job of wrapping them. I am just speechless at how beautiful their wrapping was. I will absolutely be there soon with Christmas gifts, and for the foreseeable future the Paper Garden Boutique will be my go-to store for all things stationary, wrapping paper, cards, and gifts. read more

My wedding is 3 months away and I still haven't locked down invitations...until coming to Paper Garden!!!! I was looking online for invitations, but there was nothing that I truly fell in love with, nor wanted to spend over $1,000 for. Especially since all the templates were plain, boring, and cheap looking. Thank you Yelp for this hidden gem! I would have never found it without my trusty yelp app! Stephanie was amazing. I told her I wanted something, simple, chic, and elegant and we came up with a design together. Whatever I was dreaming, she could make into reality. She even made really good recommendations so that I didn't spend too much money on the invitations itself and reduced the stamps I could have incurred with my crazy ideas! I came prepared after my first visit with invitation ideas, and how I wanted the invites to be worded. I had complete control of what I wanted and took her suggestions seriously. Great customer service!!! 150 invites was LESS than $1,000. The paper was top quality - some of which were special ordered and some they make special in their shop!. They even buy the rights to the fonts. I was able to get the Kate Spade font for no additional charge for my invites. My invites came with the main invitation, an RSVP card, an Information Card (for Reception and Hotel information) and a Bridal Entourage card (something Filipinos do - aka, my mom made me do it card). In addition all the envelopes for that order. It was supposed to be more expensive, but since Stephanie recommended that she print and cut the invites and I (my bridal party and I) assemble the invitations I saved what could have been an additional $800 for labor. That $1000 also included all the materials I would need to assemble my complicated invitations. I'm talking the double sided tape, the stamp, the stamp pad, the embosser blower, glitter, etc.! I get why they charge so much for labor! Stephanie showed me how to put the invitation together. It was easy enough in store, but having to do 150 of those suckers is tedious! I can't wait for my guests to receive their wedding invites. I hope they love it as much as I do! This place is so great that I may have them do my rehearsal dinner invitations, my bridal shower invitations, and the program for the ceremony! Top quality here folks!!! When I arrived I found that it was actually not the marker I was looking for but Stephanie was helpful to point me in directions of several other kinds of markers. I ended up leaving with another marker that I've had my eye on! If you have Stephanie make your invites, let me preface by saying please PROOFREAD all your work ahead of time. If your unsure, then ask a friend to do it for you. Stephanie is very kind (most of the time), and loves her work but she has no interest in the content of the message. She is solely focused on the artistic design of the card, and font size, color, shape. She will print whatever you want it to say, even if it is incorrect info. I am a frazzled bride to be. I admit, half the fault resides with me for not catching the error in time, but unfortunately my wedding invites went out with an error on the date. The date on the outside did not match the one on the inside. June and July are so similar when typing, my eyes just glossed over it for some reason. However, I was very disappointed when I brought this to her attention, she neither apologized or took any responsibility whatsoever for the error being missed. That was kinda of shocking to me given I was hiring her to help us make sure this part of the wedding plans would go smoothly without a hitch. My fiancé was embarrassed and angry when he found out, which frazzled me even more. When I explained the situation, she simply stated she was only doing what I asked her to do. In my humble opinion, I feel invites should be about the content not just the look. I did not appreciate her disagreeable manner when I spoke to her about it. If she would have shown just the slightest amount of remorse for the error, all would be forgiven and I could happily move on. Sadly, I must report that although the issue was resolved, I won't be coming back as a return customer. Stephanie wouldn't give me a refund but she did promptly sent out a retraction with a new invite. I greatly appreciate her efforts for doing so. I wish it never happened in the first place, but it was better than just be stuck with an incorrect invite for me and my guests. Mind you, my wedding is small. So the total damage wasn't very large. But since I have so many out of state friends and family coming, it was vital that their travel plans be accurate. The thing is, I really enjoy supporting small businesses. And it's becoming harder to find brick and mortar stores that sell stationary supplies. Most business do everything on line these days. However, I liked seeing it for myself before sending them off. It felt much more personable to have handmade cards made out of recycled paper which fit my needs to stay as green as possible for this wedding. The invite itself is beautiful. The stamp we chose had a beautiful Hawaiian flower with glitter on it. And the back ground was a shimmery pink called Azalea. The whole thing was on good quality paper. It's impressive to look at once everything was said and done. I'd say the invite and addressed envelopes are a definite 5 stars. But the customer service was a 2. Stephanie is quick to print out a sample, but as soon as you say, "perfect!", she'll print the final copy. Which even though I was still observing the font color, she seemed reluctant to reprint it again. So I felt myself no longer looking at the sample with a critical eye for errors. I was there quite a long time, but most of that time was spent waiting for Stephanie to make the sample invite. So the total time I had looking at my sample was no more than 5 min. Now, I wish she would have slowed down a bit and just let me sit with the sample a bit longer before printing the final copy. I needed time to process what it was I looking at, and not feel pressured to just go with the first inclination that everything was okay. But here again, a third pair of eyes would have helped. read more

My friend and I walked into the shop just yesterday and there were two women working on projects at the front desk. There was no one else in the store and neither woman ever even looked up from their projects. I kept waiting for a hello, a welcome or even a "can we help you find something?" Let your creative flag fly! After the traumatic loss of Pulp Papery, I had resigned myself from getting specialized paper from...Michael's. I went to Pulp Papery for my wedding invitations, gift wrap, and just to browse their selection of knick knacks. Then it was all ripped away. Cut to an ordinary Saturday afternoon. I was killing time waiting for lunch, when I decided to walk around the mall. I stumbled upon the Paper Garden and walked in, praying to the craft gods that I would find nirvana again. They did not disappoint. The Paper Garden is absolutely fantastic! They have a wide selection of beautiful gift wrap, stamps, and of course the knick knacks that you didn't realize you needed until you walked in the door. The small space was crammed with people and I navigated the small aisles, pausing every couple of steps in awe of the selection and the beauty of the products. They had a section for you to customize invitations- if I find myself in need to make posh invites, I will definitely be driving back as there simply are no other stores in the Sac area that provide products that are in the same league as those found at Paper Garden! I would highly suggest anyone who is in the market to come by and take a look. The paper can get a bit pricey but the cost is in the detail and beauty of each piece. Wow! After reading some of the reviews, I walked in with some trepidation. What I found was a darling store and friendly, amazingly helpful sales staff. I quickly found the envelopes I was looking for- in the perfect shade of blue. Then I decided to browse for Christmas gifts for a couple of friends. I talked to Stephanie a little bit about what I was looking for, and she had some really cute, helpful suggestions. She offered to hand cut some stationary for me and once I had made my selections, she gift wrapped everything and tied it all up with an adorable bow. I left with a smile on my face. Then, to top it all off, while I was shopping in another store, Stephanie rushed in, carrying the envelopes I had gone to buy in the first place! She said she had forgotten to ring them up for me and when she noticed, she came looking for me. She took my credit card, went back and rang up the purchase, and returned, handing me my card, a nicely wrapped package and a handful of chocolates. A few months ago we ventured into this store to look for any pre-made wedding save the date kits. None of those here, but the very helpful owner explained that we could pick out a design we liked and she would help us make it. Wow. She designed it, printed it, and put together one of them. It looked amazing and hand made (thereby impressive to our guests). Then she showed us how to put them together, which was easier than I thought. Bada bing, bada boom, we had some beautiful save the date cards! Just went back yesterday and she helped us do the invites as well. She will type up the text, cut the papers, and sell you everything you need to do your own invites. No, it's not free or cheap, but I think if you want some beautiful and hand made cards it is worth it. You will pay more than Michaels, so if you want cheap invites, maybe go elsewhere. Beyond that, it is a scrapbookers heaven. Stamps, stickers, shape puncher thingys, paper in every color, etc. I am not a crafter, yet I wanted to buy half the things in the store. She also always has card-making classes when we come on Sundays. The owner (Stephanie) is very nice. I did not feel pressured into buying anything. I have died and gone to CRAFT GIRL HEAVEN! This is a hidden gem tucked on side of the Town and Country shopping center. This place has the largest selection of Asian themed stamps ---so awesome! I can spend a few hours in here just glancing (and drooling). Paper Garden also has a great assortment of colored paper, cards, and envelopes. Kinda reminds me of Paper Source. My only gripe ---- I guess this place has had theft problems --- they've placed cameras all over this store. They even have "You're on camera" signs posted everywhere. I totally understand this is the owner's livelihood --- but it's a tad boarder line paranoid to the point where I feel unwelcome. Other than that --- it's a super cute store. WOW! So happy I found this gem! I used Paper Garden as my wedding stationary HQ! Everyone was beyond helpful considering I had no clue what I was doing or what I needed. The prices are reasonable...but well worth it in my opinion! I was shown how to emboss...and layer my paper with all sorts of tips and tricks! I had so many compliments on my December wedding invitations, save the dates, place cards and programs! People were blown away that I had created and designed them myself! I live about 40 mins away...and did not mind the trip. I even screwed up on my initial guest count and they were sweet enough to let me return the items I didn't need and apply the difference to the other items I still needed to purchase. If you're thinking of ordering any kind of stationary or invitations online...DON'T! Anything the awesome staff at Paper Garden helps you create will be cheaper, more original and ten times better than any pre-made store bought items! A+++! The Paper Garden Boutique is a wonderful and charming shop that features a wonderful selection of rubber stamps and other crafting supplies. The store is neatly decorated and they have a pretty good selection of paper. I enjoy seeing the sample cards that are displayed throughout the store. My only gripe is the prices are a tad bit high, even compared to other independent shops in Sacramento and the Bay Area. AMAZING designs. My best friend and I love to come her to get creative ideas for cards. Is expensive but well worth it if you have the money. My only complaint is the owner is rude and has poor customer service etiquette. She follows you around always suspicious that you're stealing something. I ended up purchasing two different shades. It's a little more than Michaels and Joann b/c no coupons, but totally worth the price. The store is filled with rubber stamp, punches, paper... basically every crafter's dream. A really beautiful little boutique store filled with stamps, stickers, ribbon, stamp pads, and really pretty cardstock. They organize each by theme: birthday, get well, inspirational, wedding, baby showers, etc. They even have asian themed stamps here, which include dozens of sakura blossom, dragon, chinese character, and bamboo designs to choose from. Above each and every aisle are dozens of gorgeous and elegant cards handmade from said stamps, stickers, and cardstock. It is amazing how everything comes together so artistically and professionally. Instead of spending hundreds at a store or online for premade cards at your wedding, anniversary, birthday, formal dinner event, you should definitely come here for some inspiration and let Stephanie help you out. I can not say enough good things about The Paper Garden, Stephanie, her husband, her cousin, and basically everyone I ever talked to there. My fiance and I worked closely with Stephanie to design our wedding invitations, and she had amazing and unique suggestions about everything from the paper, to the ink color, to ribbons to use for the entire ensemble. She definitely has the best selection of papers, stamps, and ink colors in the area. Stephanie is willing to work with you on pretty much any project, and she had the invitations printed up the next day!! We assembled and stamped our invitations ourselves, but I think (but am not sure) that she can do them for you. We also ended up getting supplies for favors from her because her husband gave us great suggestions and ideas one day that we went in and she wasn't there. You can go in and just look at the many projects and samples Stephanie has made to get ideas. Her hand-made Japanese papers are beautiful and she has a larger selection than any other similar store that I've seen in the area. As far as the price, I think all the printing, cutting, supplies, etc. for our invitations and favors came to be about $300 total. Obviously you could spend a lot more, but you could also spend less. Our wedding was about 150 people, if that helps. Basically, the store is amazing, and the staff is amazing, and I would definitely recommend going there for any invitation/thank you card/announcements that you need. This place is HORRIBLE! It was me, my aunt and my mom and we just went in to look around. When we first get in there we all feel like we're being watched and I turn around and the lady that works there is giving me a really dirty look. So I just walk around and everywhere I go she is, then another lady keeps asking my aunt if she's gonna buy something. HERE'S THE KICKER: I'm walking around looking at stuff and I walk by my mom and I hear the end of my mom and the lady who works there conversation, then the lady asks me to empty my pockets, accusing me of stealing something (while we are still inside of the store!), I emptied my pockets and there was nothing in them. My mom then turns to the lady and says "No she will not empty her pockets!". These people were rude and they acted like we were going to steal something the WHOLE time. DON'T GO THERE! read more

My friends and I have been coming to Paper Garden since it was in Town and Country. We've taken several classes where we get great ideas for making our own cards and we get to try out some of the craft materials, which helps us know what ones we like best. When you take a class, you can purchase things at 10% off. While some of the items are available elsewhere for less, some of them I haven't seen elsewhere and some work better than similar products at other stores, and these are typically the purchases that I make. I also find really good gifts for my crafty nieces here, and they have free giftwrapping that always looks so pretty. If you are into stamping, they have a great selection of unique stamps, stamp pads, and embossing supplies. I like their ribbon also. We've been there when they are making invitations, and they are beautiful and so much work goes into them. I've heard they are expensive, but the work is really exquisite so that would make sense. Their newest space at Pavilions is much smaller than the old one, so I miss their larger sale section in the old place, but you'd be surprised at what they can pack into this small space! And there still is a sale section that always has great prices. Stephanie and her staff are always friendly and seem to remember everyone, which makes it a fun place to be --kind of like Cheers for crafters;-) Stop in for one of their make and take days where you get to make a craft project for free. At least one day a year--their birthday, which is sometime in the summer I think--they have a great storewide sale as well as multiple make and take projects.
