For some reason I just assumed it was a typical downtown gift shop. I had no idea that it's actually a boutique consignment store! I found myself pawing everything in the place. There was a huge selection of unique items, all of which seemed to ooze sassiness and flair. I was also really impressed with how it's all organized. I tend to get anxiety in consignment stores because although I don't mind rifling through things, I have to be in the mood for digging. We hosted a surprise party for my mom here, and Shelly was great to work with from start to finish. I wish I could give my experience 4-5 stars but the service was terrible. I arrived late to the reservation which might have been why I had a bad experience. However, I was sitting directly next to a table that was arrived shortly after me and they received great service. The owner was serving everyone in the tea shop it seemed like. I was given tea sandwiches shortly after sitting which was nice. However, my tea order wasn't taken until 30 minutes of sitting down. I ordered the Egyptian Organic Chamomile tea which arrived promptly after ordering. BUT, then the tea I ordered steeped for another 20 minutes because I was never given a tea cup to drink out of! It wasn't until I told the organizer of our party to ask the staff to remove my order from the bill because I couldn't drink it - that a cup and saucer magically appeared. The pastries given were just fine. The black currant pastry had yogurt in it and was frozen? It didn't taste good. But, all the other pastries were decent and the plain scones with butter and clotted cream and jam were the best. The owner brought her golden retriever in the tea room. It roamed around and greeted customers at their tables. I love dogs so I thought this was comforting. But also, we were eating food and there was a dog in the eatery. Does this mean I can bring my dog there too? It was a confusing experience and the dog was adorable but there can't be a dog roaming around a tea room that is promoting a "proper" and "posh" experience. It just doesn't make sense. Unless the dog is wearing a suit and sits on a dog throne in a designated area in the tea room.

Stories of war and peace, art history, cinema theory, heroes, bad guys, robots, religious doctrines, dictionaries, sexy handymen, historical chronicles, biographies both famous and infamous, philosophies from other centuries, vampires, scientists, murder, love, tragedy and triumph. Imagine walking those aisles and actually choosing a book to open and review. The smell of the pages, the feel of the story. Ah bliss. There used to be so many. Now, so many have closed. And yet, a BRAND NEW STORE has popped up with such friendly and enthusiastic staff, it's sure to lure folks from their tablets and into the store. After a rather dismal experience at another local bookseller, we bustled through the rain and into Windemere fifteen minutes prior to the store closing. Owner Bill Burnett not only welcomed us as if we were old friends, he told us not to worry about the time - "Have a look around! Need help or a recommendation? Just ask! If I don't have it, I'll order it for you!" What a terrific representative of his small (but expanding into a larger space across the street come October 2017) interesting book haven and gift shop. Bill let us know he hadn't gone into his full social media campaign as the store would be moving but I couldn't let our visit go by without a review. Here we go: -Friendly, knowledgable service. -Good, clearly defined sections from local interest and authors to New York Times best sellers. -Small rooms leading into each other make browsing fluid and effortless. -Eclectic gifts like unique book marks and sculptures that on close inspection are revealed to be funky table fans. -Healthy children's section that doesn't overpower the store. We bought some terrific reads and tried not to overstay our welcome. Plymouth residents and visitors, watch this little store grow and expand. Drop by and support your local book seller! I was in Plymouth today with my family and stopped in this store to look around. There was a credit card minimum so I must have put the product down on the counter to pull out my wallet for cash. I told her to keep the change and she just blankly stared at me. No thank you or have a nice day etc. I walked around the store a bit more and then said goodbye and thank you to the cashier again as I was walking out, and was once again silently glared at. Came home to realize that I left the toy on the counter when putting away my wallet. Not blaming the cashier as it was my error, but I do think she saw me forget my purchase (it was a huge red claw sitting right in front of her) and purposely chose to not say anything.
