I went to go, treat myself to extensions by Megan. at first everything was fine but by day five I was in excruciating pain that just was building from the extensions a friend who does hair saw that they were in properly installed way too close to my scalp, and because of this a few extensions as shown in the photo got ripped out of my hair from me just running my fingers through it decided instead of risking, losing a lot more hair to take them all out they will not do any sort of refund and do not care I would not recommend going here for extensions. read more

Amanda did a great job in every way, but in particular earned her 5 stars. I could not get into my regular pedicurist and a toe on my right foot went from annoying to painful, the result of an ingrown toenail that has plagued me for years. It turns out it was not ingrown, but pressure from dead skin accumulated in a pocket of toe skin. The toe was really sensitive and by the time Amanda finished, the toe no longer hurt. The woman knows toes. For the first time in months and months, it does not hurt. In shoes, under heavy blankets, walking barefoot, no discomfort. And the pedicure looks great, too. read more

She offered a free consultation and listened to what I wanted. She is Also willing to be creative and give direction with what will look good. The appointment started out with a bad feeling when I was being shut down while telling the stylist about my hair and hair history. I.e. My hair is very thick with varying natural textures, and I've had a LOT of bad cuts for specific reasons. She kept saying, "Just tell me what you want and we'll get there." I tried to tell her that because of my volume a small mistake gets lifted to where it's obvious. When she said curly hair is forgiving, I should have taken that as a clue that she didn't acknowledge what I had said and that precision might be an issue. Young lady, I've been getting bad hair cuts longer than you've been alive. It behooves you to listen to what your customer is telling you and not pretend each head is the same. Nor should you basically give up on the job because you need to get to your next appointment. She didn't even offer to blow dry. I'm sorry you didn't know I had been waiting for you for ten minutes. The end result, your attempt to retain the length while giving a general shape-up was a chop job. And because of my extensive experience on the receiving end, I can tell you exactly when you made the mistakes, and what you did or didn't do right. I wanted to say "don't do that" more than once but hoped you'd pull it together in the end. Unfortunately, although the salon comes highly recommended, I left with uneven layers. When I pointed out the unevenness I was told it was because I was grabbing random sections for comparison. I wasn't. But again, instead of taking a look, she shut me down. My hair is very thick, and I think along the way the stylist lost her guide-This would not be the first time a stylist got lost on my head, but a good one doesn't ignore it and settle. I hadn't had a haircut in 10 months due to letting a prior mishap grow out, but had an event coming up so decided to take the risk. I was almost in tears that I finally took the chance and got another bad haircut. Thankfully, I found another stylist same day elsewhere who fixed my cut by straightening first to get a good picture of the damage then dry cutting, ultimately removing about two more inches to remedy the unevenness. I have heard wonderful things about this Salon, and I know all stylists sometimes make mistakes, even the very good ones. But, it's a 1-star for me. read more

I was referred from a friend to get my hair cut at this Salon and boy am I happy I listened! I have extremely thick long hair and Leslie did a fabulous job. The salon had a lot of new technology, and I enjoyed the modernity. They use and sell amazing hair products(and they are arent lying), Leslie, my hair dresser, did a great job at explaining the harm of certain shampoos, conditioners like Panteen etc. I also liked how she scheduled an 1 hr 30 min apt for new clients, so we had a lot of time to discuss hair care and didn't feel any type of time constraint. She washed, cut, and styled my hair for only $45! So amazing prices for great service. I will only geT my hair cut here, and get my hair products from there. Highly recommend! This place is Turing into a joke. apparently nowadays it's appropriate for employees to lie about what customers have said. Andwhen I get annoyed, when they have canceled and promise to reschedule haircut at least 4 times and they never reschedule It's my fault for the fourth time. And it's my fault when I get irritated and frustrated. They even tried to accuse my daughter of having lice when they can't even tell the difference between dry scalp and living creatures. One would think the owner would talk to customers and try to fix things and apologize for any misunderstanding. Sad to say they call themselves professionals I guess save yourself time, money, and aggravation and go elsewhere. read more

Very nice salon, clean, covid aware, super nice staff, best salon in Mckinleyville, I can see why it took 2 weeks to get my hair done. Meredith did my hair, asked many many questions about what I wanted. She mixed her magic, foiled, and then we waited. She was very attentive keeping me informed on time. When the foils came out, shampoo done, I looked in the mirror and saw what I have been looking for. Then she started to cut, she continued ro question as she shaped my 4 month grow. Long story short, Meredith dyed my hair and cut it. I came in with box died hair and wanted to go the color of my roots. She said I needed color correction. Okay, that's fine. But she said she dyed it a shade and a half darker than my roots. And now my hair is not the color that my roots were it's extremely darker. Went in to tell her that's not what I wanted, and how it's way too dark and how I don't like it. I don't look good with dark hair. But her suggestion to me wasn't that she would fix it. That I could buy a shampoo, get balayage, other things except for let me fix your hair and do the color I asked for. My hair turned out exactly how I wanted it, and she was totally okay with booking out another half hour so that it would be perfect. I've been in Humboldt for 5 years or so and I've always had to switch up stylists either due to a terrible hair cut or they venture out of the county on their own journeys. So I hadn't gotten my hair cut in at least 6 months and was nervous to explore yet another salon and another stylist. Meredith made all the nerves vanish! She asked what I wanted and truly took that into consideration. She didn't just hack away but instead made sure I was comfortable with the length taken off and the aesthetic I wanted. The Parlour was recommended by friends as a good place to get my son's hair cut. The prices are reasonable and my seven-year-old son has gotten possibly the best kid haircuts of his life from Megan Thurston. After a new stylist gave me a pretty terrible "helmet head" men's cut Megan was kind enough to fit me into her schedule and transformed it into exactly the (women's!) cut I wanted. She also charged a reasonable amount. The people who work here are nice and low-key and they make everything easy. I highly recommend this place for kids and adults.
