We were greeted and helped in appropriate time. The waitor was nice attentive. We ordered: Nachos: they were mediocre, you know pub food type nachos. Edible and not soggy. I wasn't expecting lobster level nachos from California Adventures or anything lol but I should have ordered something in addition.. Nice atmosphere for a brewery. Both table and bar seating. Windows to view the brewery where the magic happens. Bar seats were a little high for me, a little tough to get on and off, but I'm only 5'4", so there's that. They have a good selection of beer, or they have ciders and wine if you are not a beer drinker. For food, you can choose between sandwiches and wraps, appetizers, salads and a few entrees. I ordered the Tuscan Kabob Bowl, which had marinated chicken, zucchini, bell peppers, onions and white rice. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable. read more

North Forty Beer, Roseburg, OR - October 1, 2024 This is a great little brewery. They have most the beer styles you might hope for as well as cider and wine. They have a decent food menu. I was a little disappointed that they took burgers off the menu. That's what I was in the mood for when I got there. No big deal though. They did have lots of other choices. Our server was a nice young lady who was very friendly and attentive. I got the True North West Coast IPA and the pork rib tips. My wife got the chicken kabobs with vegetables over rice. The rib tips came with a sweet chili sauce and a barbecue sauce. Both meals were tasty and the beer was great. A great find in Roseburg! My wife and I were passing through on a drive from SF to Tacoma, looking for a place for dinner. The live music and rainbow painted by the door drew us in, the chill vibe and small but eclectic menu convinced us to stay. We got the Pork Spare Rib Tips, Strawberry Walnut Salad, and Tuscan Kabob Bowl. Two stars is probably generous, but the beer was decent. Our server was also pleasant. The food, well that wasn't so good in my opinion. We had a couple of club sandwiches and a brisket sandwich. Most of their sandwiches come on a hoagie type roll. The fries were barely luke-warm. There wasn't a big crowd or anything, so that can't be used as an excuse. I initially tried to order the Philly Cheese steak. Was told they were out of roast beef, but I could sub brisket for an extra charge. Since both are the same price, not sure why I'd have to pay extra. The bread to meat ratio was very poor on the meat side. really looked sad and when I ate it, while tasty, pretty dry. If you like music loud enough that you can't hear your husband talk, this is the place for you. We sat upstairs in the back, and it was just as loud. Onion rings and Caesar salad were good. This is a cool place. Plenty of tables with a full view of the brewery. I spoke with Junior for quite a while, one of the brewers, and he was amazing; very passionate about his craft. they make amazing beer in myriad styles here, and I sampled several but generally focused on the lighter stuff (kolsch, pils, etc) ... all were balanced and true to the style. I'd definitely visit again and buy their beer to go regularly if I lived locally. Looking forward to trying the food next time. read more

We used to really enjoy coming here, but lately it has gone down hill. Last night we ordered chicken drum sticks that normally are crunchy and hot. Not last night..half cold and soggy And to not have Turkey when at least 3 of your sandwiches contain it was just lame. It's not like Turkey is a rare commodity, heck send someone to the store! The food really has gone down hill which is sad since it's a great downtown location & use to be a fun place to gather with friends or watch a game while enjoying some food. First off, the food is terrible. We had hamburgers that were the driest we've ever had. Had to choke them down. The owner has one cook and one guy waiting tables. They are working their tails off, totally over worked. Apparently the owner is too cheap to hire adequate help. Saturday night 7:30ish. Been wanting to try this place. Walked in to a somewhat smokey/hazy environment - later attributed to smoke coming from the kitchen. Server greeted us saying the kitchen was backed up and it would be about 30 minutes after ordering for the food to arrive. About 2/3 of the tables were occupied. Asked if we could bring dog in to lie under the table - no go. We very much enjoy our local breweries, especially Two Shy and Lookingglass. Their beer is outstanding, food trucks are always excellent and dogs are welcome. We found the selection of beer at North 40 to be somewhat limited. Tried the espresso stout, juicy IPA and red....nothing to write home about. Food orders - fries, chili poppers, chicken strips, sliders, burger - dribbled in one by one from 45 minutes to we'll over an hour. Each one was hot but generally bland. The exception we're the sweet potato fries which were very good. Beef in sliders and burger was over cooked, close to burned. Had to remind the server of second beer orders. . We very much want the downtown area restaurants to be successful. Brix is our go-to restaurant and we are rarely disappointed. I doubt we'll return to North 40 for beer or food. read more

Okay I don't know why this place has one worker like every time I go in there. You can't get your food or a refill when the worker gets stopped every 20 seconds to get people beer. One guy can't handle 4 tables of people and constant walk ins for beer. It's a restaurant it's not a bar. Don't walk up to the bar to order your food when they take to long what about everyone else sitting waiting? We ordered an appetizer of fries and it came 30 min later with our food. We got no drink refills. The other tables around us had no drink refills. Guy was running around like crazy. Not his fault. You need at least 2 people working. Someone dealing with the drunks at the bar area and someone actually helping your real sit down eating customers. Also it was Halloween the owner is outside handing out candy. He sees how crappy and slow it is. He doesn't care. He sees his one poor worker running around with 4 tables and zero help. Very good beer. Con's 1. Overall service - poor. A. No introduction from bartender. B. Food arrived, no silverware, no napkin. C.Was not offered any condiments. Had to ask for S & P. D. No follow up after food arrived to make sure everything is fine (2 minutes max). E. No interaction, I sat at the bar, not a table. F. There was a manager sitting at the bar updating the menu. There were some napkins on the bartender's side of the bar. I got up, pulled the barstool out, two away from him, completely away from the bar, reached way over the bar, stretching to reach the napkins... He didn't seem to care, said nothing. 2. Cheese burger w/ fries ($8.00) A. Exactly like a quarter pounder at Mac's. Very low quality, bun was mush. Probably the worst burger I've had at a brewery. B. Fries are like Mac's, good, but not well done as I asked, nice amount. 5. Side sauces, I don't think they make smaller containers. You have the potential to create great, delicious, one of a kind items at the same profit level, especially since you are now making the product. What will be your signature dish? Watch some episodes of DDD. Honestly, that was a horrible burger. And why, at the same time, Brix down the street was packed? Buy a burger at the Wolf Creek 76 Gas Station (they were written up for an incredible burger and fries ($9.78) in the AAA Auto Magazine a few months ago). Wow, what a great find! My husband and I were up in Myrtle Creek visiting family and we stopped in for lunch. Some of the best burgers we've had (huge, juicy and flavorful) and the sweet potato fries were super tasty and cooked perfectly. Nice selection of beers too. The service was good, the only unfortunate thing was that at the time they didn't have about five of the appetizers offered on the menu and I was looking forward to trying the cheese curds. I've been going through Roseburg for many years, all the while never venturing too far from the freeway, let alone going to the older part of the city. Recently I heard about the opening of a new brew pub - North 40 - so I decided to take a little adventure downtown. While downtown I discovered a few spots that changed my opinion of the old part of the town. Since I came to see the North 40, this is where I visited ... but I will visit my other findings on future trips. First off, the ambiance here is spot-on for what I'd expect of a brew-pub in the Pacific Northwest. It's a big and open space with plenty of wood with a touch of industrial decor. This is, by far, not a hole-in-the-wall establishment ... I think the sign said the occupancy is something like 100 or 125 customers. Next, the staff was very friendly and I didn't feel out of place ... for example, how I'd feel if I walked into a biker bar. Then the plexiglass allowing me see their brewery equipment was a very nice final touch. The best part was ... the beer here is top notch. Their red beer (Fireline) is probably one of the best I've had in Oregon. While I'm not a big fan of light beer, I did try their Kolsch (Trailhead) ... and this is something I'd probably enjoy during a hot summer day. Frankly, the biggest surprise was the tab was easy on the wallet (very reasonable prices). Food is served here by a separate company - Smokin' Friday BBQ. The food items we ordered was pretty good ... they went well with the beer. During our visit they were serving a Hot Pork BBQ Sundae which was to my surprise really good ... looks like a ice cream Sundae only it has a scoop of mashed potato (the ice cream) with BBQ pork in a cup. There is basically street parking around North 40, but I did learn later there is a free public parking structure about a block and a half away. All in all, I sort of envy the folks here in Roseburg ... I'd like to have a place like North 40 closer to where I live. Here in the Olympia/Tacoma/Seattle area, there are similar establishments but I find most of them overcrowded, pretty pretentious / elitist and some are more about the food and not so much the beer.. read more

Sometimes you walk in a place and immediately know you made the right choice. North Forty is definitely one. The Juicy IPA is pretty much the ideal NW IPA - not sweet, not malty, just hoppy floral goodness. The dry cider is fantastic. Got the chicken nachos which were fantastic; better than I was expecting.
