OH MY GOD…read more this place was hopping! Busy! and for very good reason, the food is AMAZING! Such high quality tasty things on this menu, was such a surprise. I ordered the honey garlic chicken Mac and cheese burrito. That sounds crazy? It was crazy!!! CRAZY DELICIOUS!!!! and I took home a carrot cake slice too. Just so you know? I made a TikTok about this place that has so far gathered over 10k views! People RAVE about this joint.

I don't know why all the 3 stars? Maybe it was their old location but as of this writing (7/19/25),…read morethey have a food truck in the parking lot of their new restaurant (while they remodel the place). The new restaurant looks pretty cool & they will have a bigger menu than what they have now. But what I had was freeeeeeking amazing. Like if you're not eating here, are you even living?! Nicest people working. Cook was on point both times I went. The honey garlic chicken sandwich was huge but more importantly it was fried to juicy perfection! So many crispy nubs iykyk. The sauce completed it & was crazy delicious. top tier fried chicken! So good I went back a few days later and had a double smashburger, which was on the special board. It was like a super smashburger- thicker and holy crap so so good. The fries were homemade and perfect. And my kids got The Kitchen Sink fries which is fries topped with their homemade mac n cheese (addictive) and crispy honey garlic chicken (cut into pieces). I wanted the pulled pork but I arrived too late & it was gone. I absolutely will drive an hour when they open their new place! I am salivating thinking about that chicken sandwich and the menu that I will eventually eat my way through!

The Proper Pig - They make great french fries!! Crispy on the outside creamy on the inside

Location - Great thing about their location is there are plenty of places to kill time while waiting for your table - local shops or Waterville Creates. We were there on a Saturday and we arrived around 2:30 for an late lunch/early dinner. To our surprise, there was a 25 minute wait! It's a popular family restaurant as well. It's a lot bigger inside than it seems from the outside. When you walk in, there are mostly high tables and a long bar with seating. Walk past the bar and on the right is a dining area with a lot more tables. We had 2 kids and 4 adults and we had plenty of room at a center table. There were booths along the wall. Our server was so great. So patient, and kind. She was great. She checked in regularly, our drinks never went dry. The food was excellent. We had the food for take out during the pandemic and thought it was ok. Having it in the restaurant - HUGE difference. I got the cheese curd burger without the top bun. My nephew loved his chicken wings, my niece loved her mac and cheese. We all loved our burgers and my bro-in-law liked his reuben. I loved the fries, they seemed more the "chips" from the UK - which I loved. Parking - street or on the concourse below Main Street. We will definitely be back.

I felt as though for a pig…read moreplace it should have had more bacon on it and definitely less potato but if you could get a bite with the cheese the little bit of bacon there was and some green onion it was actually not too bad. My wife loved the brisket on her sandwich but it should have had a different kind of bread and cheese to make the sandwich worthy of that tender flavorful brisket. I got the mac and cheese with maple bourbon BBQ fried chicken I was disappointed that the chicken was not fully coated but only drizzled on the top with the barbecue sauce the noodles were overcooked but the cheese sauce tasted authentic and well made. The places ambiance was impeccable it was very decorated with artful taste in pig themed pictures and sayings. The wait staff was wonderful as far as the service goes very knowledgeable good at recommending different dishes they really tried after my macaroni complaint to make it right. I noticed some minor repairs that could have been done without costing a lot of money some of the benches in the booths were ripped or worn from use. I was impressed with the amount of main based and local beers that were available as well as other drinks such as my root beer came from Bar Harbor. Haven't tasted what I tasted and knowing what I know I would go back again being certain to take advantage of the al acarte things available.. like a pound of brisket and giving the pulled pork a try..

Then I reasked the bar tender and she was too busy - asked a girl again - never came back. Finally a customer grabbed one and handed it to me . We tried it yesterday- absolutely awful - sorry but -- the meat was super fatty - couldn't chew it - show it to my GREEK friend from Astoria Queens cause she couldn't understand- she agreed- way too fatty -- We dumped it - couldn't chew it. We also ordered spanakopita. We opened it up tonight -- Triangle shaped individual with JUST spinach -- the feta cheese was spread out UNDER these triangle spinach thing (4) super tiny like appetizers- not a meal - no salad either like really? This was a dinner? so very very upset over this food. You will say to me it's was Mothers Day - 9 tables isn't very busy for Mother's Day -- a regular dinner crowd. We expected when we drive 1 hr to this restaurant get great food at a place that almost has 5 stars. I can understand we aren't in Astoria Queens NY but come on - this wasn't hard at all. I waited a whole year to drive back & I really wanted to give a great review but the food was just awful. Very are very disappointed . . .

I have some amazing photos and incredible memories. One of the biggest reasons we chose this venue is because of the event coordinator Elaine. She is their best asset. She helped us plan every detail. She offered suggestions and advice as we needed if. She was always available and prompt with responses. She stayed from the time the girls arrived to get ready until late at night until everyone had their last drink. She made sure our night went perfect. We knew once we met Elaine we wouldn't have to worry about a thing. She is wonderful. The rest of the staff the worked at the event were excellent. They were fun, engaging, polite and friendly. They led the electric slide during some dancing. They also worked incredibly hard while they were chatting with us and all of our guests. They were always asking can I get you anything. They all went above and beyond during the entire night. The food was great. We had lunch while getting ready. It had sandwhiches cheese fruit chips and drinks. This was just the fuel we needed before a busy day ahead. Lori even came in to greet us and ask how everything was going and made sure we had everything we needed. During our cocktail hour we chose some apps that were yummy and perfect for while people were mingling. The meatballs and spring rolls were excellent. The cheese and olive tray with fruit and cheese were great The meal we chose was buffet style with steak tips, teriyaki chicken, carrots, mashed potato and dinner rolls. The salad was served at each table. The food was great lots of flavor and served hot. This is a fabulous location with so much to offer. Everyone there is wonderful. Thank you all for a gorgeous day.
