The size was def smaller in comparison to other bakeries I've visited. The cake itself was good, frosting was condensed, didn't eat it all. The gentleman who helped me was nice and pleasant. The team at Pastry Corner was wonderful and accommodating when I wanted to order a cheesecake for my friend who lives locally for their birthday. Their pricing was affordable and even delivered it for me to keep my friend safe. The cheesecake was divine. They even wrote Happy Birthday on it and included a personal card, which made this gift truly extra special. They delivered within a delivery window of 2 hours I set up with them. They called the day before delivery to confirm everything, which was appreciated as well. I would totally order from them again for future birthday treats or if I am in the area. read more

If I could give it no stars, I would. The cupcakes were cold and gross. When things come right out of the refrigerator, they need to get to room temperature to really showcase their flavor. Spoiler alert: These cupcakes were the worst we've ever had. The cupcake was cold, dense, and too heavy in our mouths. The frosting was straight-up cold butter. It had flavor, but you also knew that you were eating just butter. As my 15 year old and I were trying them, the butter frosting slid right off one of them. Ewww... Good ratio of cake to frosting, the cake not overly sweet, leaving plenty of room for the frosting to be on the sweet side balancing out the whole package. My one critique would be that the cake was dry, but tastes great. Red velvet - man that cream cheese frosting is on the mark! So good! Chocolate and vanilla buttercream - perfect whipped and creamy and sweet.. delish! They satisfy my cupcake fix for sure when in Mt. Kisko! ;-) Gotta give a shout out to the black and white cookies.. they're pretty fantastic! I really wanted to love this bakery, but I was honestly shocked at how bad it was :( Let me start by saying that the person behind the counter was so kind and extremely pleasant. My boyfriend and I were craving something sweet and decided to stop in to grab a few cookies. We got a few different items which included rainbow cookies, a black and white cookie, a snicker doodle, and a few other cookie types. I took a bite of one of the rainbow cookies while in the car, and my first thought was "hmm why is it a bit crunchy?". I figured there must have been a few crumbs from the other cookies mixed in, and didn't think much of it. Then I began to take a bite of all of the other cookies and realized that all of them were hard, crunchy, and seemingly stale?? I was praying there would at least be some hope with the black and white cookie, but I was so disappointed. Any time I've ever eaten a black and white cookie, they were more on the soft side, almost like a cake type of consistency, with the chocolate and vanilla frosting also sort of on the softer side. When I bit into this black and white cookie with my front teeth, I almost broke a tooth. It was so incredibly hard, didn't really taste like much, and the black and white frosting (at least thats what it should have been) was not really frosting at all, but seemed more like a painted on version of black and white color onto a plain tasting short bread cookie?? Overall not a great experience and probably won't be going back. I wish the cookies were fresh, but they were the furthest from it unfortunately. It wasn't even late in the day either. read more

Oh my god I cannot day enough how much I loved The Pastry Corner! We were looking for a bakery that was open kind of earring one day because we had a 2 hour drive down the Jersey Shore and wanted too get started early. These guys were the closest so that's where we stopped and I'm so glad we did. The tiny cheesecakes were AMAZING. My straight-from-Italy grandfather who is very fond of his desserts absolutely loved the cream puffs. Will definitely use The Pastry Corner again! read more

I stopped in for the first time as I had 10 minutes to spare and got a great cappuccino, and tried the cookies. Some shortbread hearts and a coconut cookie. Delicious! Service was very friendly too. Would definitely stop by again if I am in the area. read more

UPDATE: People considering buying from Pastry Corner should look carefully at how the owner responds to criticism. He berates the person and then outright lies about what was in the review. He claims I had a tone and called him a derogatory term. Nowhere in my review did I do so. Instead of focusing on actually making good tasting products he deflects with inflammatory lies. Terrible behavior by a business owner. Also important to note that the positive reviews are very dated from back when this business was owned by someone else. They say don't judge a book by it's cover and in the case of The Pastry Corner it holds true. The cakes look pretty but unfortunately the taste does not match the look. They taste stale, overly sugar laden and almost artificial, with the "buttercream" akin to the Duncan Hines canned frosting. Unfortunately this is not the first time we've experienced this, coming back an additional four separate times because we like to support local businesses and in the hopes that the prior bad taste was an exception but it's not. The most recent cake was for a birthday and it tasted so poor that I was embarrassed to have served it and threw the whole thing away with just three slices cut from it. For $40 for the smallest size cake and $80 for the large size, one would expect to be able to have it taste fresh made all around. Not sure what happened to this place because the cakes used to taste as wonderful as they looked but that is far from it now. read more

Everyone I spoke to in the phone was very nice, the ordering process was super easy. I picked the cake up a little earlier than I had originally scheduled, which was no problem for the shop. I stopped in here, looking for coffee. I hate starbucks, so I thought this would b a better alternative. I got an iced lattee, and it was good. I also got a few side items to go with it. I got a few marble butter cookies and a croissant. The croissant was BAD. It was very starchy and heavy. I think a good croissant is very flaky and light. I had a few bites, and threw it out. I stopped in early in the morning, so it should have been fresh but it did not taste fresh. It tasted like a supermarket croissant. The marble cookies were of a better quality, but I still would not got out of my way for them. I also tried a small sample of a chocolate cake that was being offered to their customers. The sample did not want me top try more.. The frosting was too sweet. There is a lot more that I did not try, and it very well may be some of the best items. they had cupcakes, pie'sThey had some interesting cake idea's, but I do not think the design or look was too creative. There is a small seating area. Other than starbucks and deli's. I did not notice any other places for coffee.. So, I would recommend this place over Starbucks, if you want a coffee or latte. Absolutely Horrible! Ordered a cake from The Pastry Corner nearly two weeks ago. I got a call from them two days after order was placed to confirm and the advise me that they only ship on Mondays. Which meant an immediate delay, but ok. It was what it was. The cake shipped the following Monday and Ups delivered it 4 DAYS LATER. For whatever reason UPS dropped the ball on delivery. However, when the cake arrived, the box was saturated as the dryice packs had completely melted. They were HOT, the cake was HOT AND SITTING IN LIQUID. The cake was a melted blob wrapped in plastic wrap within the remnants of the box. I called The Pastry Corner and immediately was told it was not their responsibility and I should take it up with UPS. I am not UPS's client, they are. The shipper needs to file the claim. The baker told me that this happens all the time and they are not responsible and will not refund me nor replace the cake. Although I made no reference to anything other than the cake, shipping and horrible customer service, I was accused of being homophobic. Honestly, do yourself a favor and do your business elsewhere. They do not stand behind there service and are arrogant. read more

Stopped by this place late last year when I was back in my hometown for a visit. While I don't have a sweet tooth at all myself, my aunt and uncle (with whom I was stying in Connecticut) had asked me to stop by The Pastry Corner to pick up some sugar cookies. The service here was friendly and everything was carefully packaged (even though it was just a couple of boxes of cookies). The cookies were a hit (so much so that my aunt hid one of the boxes right off the bat before the grandkids came over). Nice place, and judging from the displays inside they do a pretty good cake business as well. Definitely worth a try! read more

We had a very unfortunate experience with our Christmas order for a flourless chocolate cake! Ordered well in advance, my daughter picked it up and brought it to the celebration. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a regular chocolate cake - not at all what we wanted. Too late to do anything about it. In retrospect I would say that the person who took the order was distracted, talking and laughing with other people. We don't eat sweets often but we love this cake during the holidays. To try to summarize, I called to possibly order a cake for Mom's 80th and asked if they deliver. They said it depends what time. Meanwhile they didn't know where I live. I said, "You don't even know where I live." Guy said, "You didn't tell me where you live." Already I am in a "Who's on First" conversation with them. So after ironing out that they can deliver to me, I was directed to look at their Facebook page for menu. So I got off phone to check out. Drizzle cake looked fabulous! I called back! Gal answered... I felt like other guy was dodging my call for some reason. First round wasn't exactly smooth sailing with us but I liked the drizzle cake and asked her how much it was. Guy got back on (didn't I know?). He overheard I had a real question. He said to write to thepastrycorner@gmail.com because it depends on what fillings I want, etc. So I wrote knowing this is all too ridiculous to be true over a cake already. It just seemed like too much work and a goose chase to get a simple cake priced and ordered. Got an e-mail answer two days later from Head Chef, Chef Alex (the e-mail said) and a phone call back too? They said they were closed for the past two days (Sunday from 1 PM on and Monday) which made sense. Answer through e-mail was fine but they are calling my phone too? That was the weird part. I have it on my caller ID and mumbling on my machine. I never gave them my phone number in the e-mail exchange. Oh yeah, number was gotten from caller ID and they pieced together my e-mail was that Sunday caller at the shop. Got it and OK, fine. I needed a cake so all was good. They priced what it would be with basics through e-mail. Great! I asked for more specifics which is when Alex wrote back telling me to call them so I did. Guy answered (same one as on Sunday). I recognized his voice. He addressed me by my name when answering the phone? Shouldn't he say, "Hello, The Pastry Corner! How may I help you?" I asked if he was Alex who I spoke with in e-mail. He said yes. So the guy who told me to write through e-mail and I was speaking with through e-mail, is the same guy I am speaking to this whole time on the phone? Before I went on, he said, "I am sorry, we will not be able to work with you after posting that yelp review." Meanwhile I wrote in that first review, that I will remove it if I ever hear back from them to price my dumb cake. They could have easily made it up to a customer but instead chose to be more difficult. Now I am posting a worse review! He went on to say that they are a struggling business, but was I not trying to give him my money? I just said OK and hung up. Who believes anything they say anyway. End of the story is, I guess I'm going with By The Way Bakery in Hastings whose phone was ringing off the hook when I called as far as I can tell. I was put on hold for someone else. It's all the same for me. Maybe they should learn a few tips from them? Probably not. It seems like they aren't even trying, so how badly can any of us feel that they are struggling? Oh I see your response; don't understand most of it. You screamed at me, "Proofread!" through a personal yelp chat? OMG... crazy. OK, I'll try to reread and make sense of your response. "Work with you" you said? We weren't forming a business venture so I am most confused. All I wanted was a ball park figure on a cake. Guy on the phone knew it was for 13 people; small gathering. This is simple stuff. You're a stupid business man talking to me that way in response below. Oh...Big time update: Today is 7/17. Just saw it's National Ice Cream Day on July 19th, 2020 this year. Yeah!! Couldn't help but to think about you since I am starting to feel sorry for you. Shouldn't you be making a big deal of this? I wasn't sure what kind of cake I wanted, but walked into the pastry corner with a loose idea, I wanted a 2 tier cake, with chocolate-raspberry filling. I wasn't sure what style options I had or what i would like. Their staff was so helpful, they spent the time to show me pictures of their past cakes until I found one that I liked or in this case found multiple aspects I loved and pieced the all together. I left with total confidence that I was going to get my dream cake. The following week we picked up the most beautiful cake! The top layer was simple and the bottom was quilted complete with edible accents! It was tied together with a purple bow - it ALMOST looked too good to eat. We used this place for my daughter's first birthday cake. The design was beautiful, but the craftsmanship and professionalism left more than a little something to be desired. First of all, the cake was given to us without even a box or anthing to transport it in. Secondly, it had not been refrigerated , which was apparent at the time of pick up. The cake had a candy theme. There were huge lolly pops stuck to the side of the cake, amongst other types of candy that were obviously too heavy to be stuck to the side of the cake. Within 5 minutes of pick up the frosting was melting and all the candy was teargin away from the side of the cake. By the time it got back to the house it had bascially disintegrated. To say we were disappointed with this place is an understatement. read more

I had a great experience with them-- I went in for an initial meeting/ tasting with my mom and grandmother and it was a really pleasant experience. We requested something that they do not typically make (german chocolate cupcakes) and they accommodated us and our guests LOVED them. The cupcakes and the top tier cake looked incredible and tasted amazing. Stephanie knew our caterer and worked with him to make sure everything would be delivered in time and kept fresh which was one less thing to worry about for me, it ended up being a seamless day. Honestly WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Went in there and spoke with the owner Stephanie and explained my food allergies (tree nuts including almonds and peanuts) with her, showed her a cake etc. She explained that there are many almonds used within the bakery. When I picked up the cake it didn't look like the picture at all. I got home cut our cake for our party and the cake smelled like almonds. When my guests tasted the cake it also tasted like almonds. So of course I didn't even eat the cake to take a risk. When I called back the bakery the following day, they said they used "almond flavoring" in my cake. Stephanie who was extremely unprofessional fought with me on the phone saying that it wouldn't have given me an allergic reaction anyway. Needless to say when I went in I was never notified they would be putting that in my cake otherwise I would have taken my business elsewhere. She continued to fight with me saying I was being ridiculous about it when in all aspect it was a dumb move on any business owner. When I said about my picture vs the cake and the amount of sprinkles loaded onto my cake she replied "do you want me to use a tweezer to place your sprinkles on your cake?" So unprofessional. It's honestly a shame that these are the new owners. The previous owners would NEVER treat there customers like this. I really like The Pasty Corner. I have never had a bad product from them (everything I've tried has been very good, my favorite is anything with their amazing ganache), the prices are the fairest in the area by far, the staff is wonderful, and they still wrap boxes with string (so much easier to carry and open w/o damaging the treats inside!). I really cannot say enough about the nice people who work there (I believe they are a family), as well as the wide selection of choices. Only con: the parking isn't very good (street parking is hard to come by, and the lot down the road fills up quickly during afternoons and weekends). I haven't taken advantage of it, but it also has the nicest seating of any of the area bakeries (indoor, but a couple of tables that are nicely out of the way of regular customer flow). read more

After years of being a loyal customer, I am so disappointed with my last experience so much so I will not be going back and feel obliged to let everyone know ! I recently ordered a cake and was given a price on the phone. When I went to pick the cake up, I was charged a different price. When I questioned it, the young man who I was told is an owner, who quoted the price challenged me saying that was just a "base price" he gave on the phone. After back and forth and him basically walking away to the back with his holiday packages, I paid the cashier the money- was not going continue to argue over the $8 , which I handed over but this left a bad taste in my mouth. Well when we went to serve the cake that night, not only was it NOT FRESH!!!!! it did not have fresh strawberries or fresh whip cream, both which I was told is why the cake was a higher price than the "base". When I called the next day to let them know, I was met with a defensive woman who said she was the owner and didn't want to hear anything of my terrible experience. She actually wanted me to bring in the left over cake to "examine". There is no way they had that many custom ordered cakes going out that day that they didn't know it was not fresh. When I made mention of how I was treated in the store the day before with the price she had the gall to tell me she examined the store's camera and saw nothing wrong with the way he handled the situation! The attitude the Owner's expressed in both the store and on the phone to me, a customer,was appalling. She left off after offering me a discount if I want to try them again in the futere with "we have many happy customers". Well you lost a loyal one and my large local family and friends! Hands down the worst bakery I have ever been to. Last week while walking around Mt. Kisco, NY, I stopped in at The Pastry Corner bakery with my son to get him a cupcake. The person sitting behind the counter was so busy texting on her cellphone that she didn't even bother to say can I help you. This is not uncommon with young kids today so I just accepted it and asked for help. She answers by saying "hold on a sec ok", so I said ok. When she walked up to the counter she looks at me and says "yes", that's right YES and nothing else. I say "I would like 2 cupcakes (one was for me and one was for my son). While I am paying my son takes a bite of the cupcake and starts coughing and spits it out. When I ask him what is wrong, he tells me it doesn't taste right. I take a bite of mine and the icing was completely sour (not to mention that the cupcake itself was extremely dry). I figured they were old cupcakes that had spoiled. Since I knew I would get nowhere with the young girl behind the counter, I asked to speak to a manager. A woman by the name of Stephanie comes out and says she is the owner and how can she help. I explain to her the situation, figuring I would at least get a new cupcake, my money back or at the very least store credit to buy something else, but the was not the case. She starts yelling at my son which made no sense to me, unless it was because he was the first to complain. She tells me that how our cupcakes are made and if I don't like them I can take my effing (she used the actual word) business somewhere else. I was shocked that she would become so defensive and that she would swear in front of my son. I remained very calm because I know that yelling solves nothing and told her that there is no need to raise her voice or swear at me. She said just take your little sh*t of a kid and get the eff out of my store. Again she swears in front of my child. I asked if I could at least get my money back, to which she said "you don't like my food and have the nerve to complain and you think I'm gonna give you your money back? You took a bite, which means by law I don't have to pay you back". I wasn't sure if this was true or not, but my was starting to cry, so I decided to leave before things got worse. The good news is we went to get ice cream right after that and the people there couldn't have been nicer. I told them the story of what had just happened and they gave my son an extra scoop for free. I'm not sure if Stephanie was having a bad day, but as an owner she should know that you do not need to raise your voice and you do not need to talk to customers that way. Needless to say, I will not be going back. I hope this helps others to know this is not a place to go to for baked good, especially if you are with your children. read more

I've become the cake lady for all my friends and family and am "the person" who gets the cakes for birthdays, etc. Last year I ordered a birthday cake for my niece and they gave me the wrong cake flavor. I was annoyed but realized mistakes happen. When I called to let them know and suggest that they give me a credit toward my next cake order, they gave me a very hard time. They insisted that they spoke with the baker and she was absolutely sure she didn't make a mistake. They actually made me come into the store to show them a picture and prove it was the wrong flavor. Even when I wanted a Tinkerbell cake and they never did one before, all I did was email a pic, and everyone loved the way it came out. Friendly atmosphere and workers! They respond right away, and make sure you are completely satisfied with everything....Packaging of the cakes are great, a nice box and cover to support the cake.... A delicious Danish topped with cinnabun icing served in a large muffin container! YUM!! Over the last few years the place has gone from good to mediocre. They must have gotten a new chef!
