Walked by and saw a line and it definitely stayed in my mind as I decide to go grab a bite here after a walking tour. There was a line when I arrived and it gave me ample time to decide what I wanted to eat and to look around. As I was standing in line the Nutella and pistachio creme filler for croissants caught my eye and luckily for me, someone ordered a Nutella croissant so I was able to watch them fill it with the machine from both ends. I ended up to ordering a turkey and cheese sandwich on a ciabatta. I opted for the warm option and two soy lattes to go. The sandwich was a little wet from the tomatoes since I took it to go but it was nice and warm. The lattes could definitely have used more of a kick. This is a really good place, and I come here often. This morning I came because I wanted a sandwich, but since it was during work hours, it took way too long. They said it was because I ordered chicken. When I told them they should have let me know it would take that long, they said, "Didn't I tell you it was chicken?" and even acted like it was my fault. I'm not the one making the food -- how would I know that chicken takes over 20 minutes during the morning rush? I asked them to please tell customers how long it will take next time, but they just repeated, "It's because you ordered chicken." I've gone here several times and while their food is good, I question the service. I went the other day for a tuna sandwich on croissant with cheese. Finally I had to ask for my food and someone brought it out right away. Now if this was the first time I would overlook it but this is the second or third time this has happened where I'm standing there waiting for my food and had to ask for it. Last June my friend bought me the cookies Martines have in a dish ( because you can't pick what you want) and they looked different than usual and they were awful tasting ! Threw them out. Now Christmas Eve and friend bought slice of coconut cake for me.from Martines. Stale as can be. Yellow filling was like cement , cake itself was dry & crumbling . That owner should be ashamed ! Cookies my friend brought were delicious , outstanding quality and variety and well presented ! do you know why so good cookies ??!! This place is usually crowded and only has a few tables. If you want to eat here, you must bring someone to claim a table while you stand on line and order. I noticed that was what people did here. The food has not changed since my last review. The sandwiches are expensive for the small size. Most people order omelettes for those that stay. The line is long and it moves very slowly. The cookies are interesting and not in a good way. They are sold by the pound but you cannot pick how much you want. They are in single use plastic containers and you are forced into taking that amount. The reality of this place is that it speaks for challenges of dining out these days. In this area, the options are a restaurant, which is more expensive plus tipping a server or a slice of pizza at one of the nearby pizzeria. This bakery is literally the only option if you do not want the aforementioned places. My guess is this the reason this place becomes crowded for lunch. I managed to get a table because someone got up. I had the mushroom leek quiche, plain croissant, and a peppermint tea. The quiche was salty and the croissant was dense. My opinion this is the best bakery in westchester. Always fresh and quality cakes, food and drinks. My favorite croissant is made in this bakery and only on Sundays, it is an extraordinary taste of pistachio Rose croissant. Also we tried almost all cakes and my favorite cake is royal cake. I walked past this bakery all the time but for some reason I've never been inside. I should have kept walking. They were very friendly when I entered the bakery. They had more cakes, muffins & brownies instead of regular cookies than you would usually find at a bakery. I ordered the Carrot cake muffin which is usually one of my favorites. The color look good and I could tell it had raisins in it. I was so disappointed when I tasted all the raw carrots in it. It was dry like a cardboard and lacked the regular carrot cake taste. It did taste like a regular dry box cake mix that they just added some raw carrots to it. I won't be returning to this bakery & I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

This spot is a go to place for desserts in the Westchester area. The shop is really small and cozy, located right next to the train station. The staff are all very attentive and welcoming. We ordered a bunch of desserts for 4th of July weekend and did not regret our decision at all. The desserts are very aesthetic. We ordered the Fruit tart and the chocolate ganache cake which tasted heavenly. The fruit tart had just the right amount of creaminess combined with that acidic balance from the fruit. Martine's at Tuckahoe is my hot spot to get the finest rich pastries to satisfy my sweet tooth. Pastries made with passion, the designs and features are self explanatory. My child loves their baguette, soft and fine texture, will last a day or 2 of freshness. I rather drive 3 miles to Tuckahoe instead of walking 10 mins to Scarsdale because of their services. Each purchase comes with a smile and a positive attitude. The server who assisted me goes by the name Counter T, Thank U for organizing my order and preparing it. Many many many years ago a friend had a fruit tart at a get together that was equally visually appealing as it was delicious. When I asked where she got it from she mentioned Martines and ever since it's lived in my mind rent free. In recent months I've visited this location it's because I'm striving to not go in to the city unnecessarily. Service is always quick and efficient. It's a small shop, not a place I would expect to grab a table and enjoy a pastry or cup of coffee. Clean, bright and inviting, I've never had something from here I didn't like and as mentioned before always the crowd pleaser. I was told by one of the staff members that at their Scarsdale location they sell slices of apple pie- need to check that out! Also had a made to order juice that exceeded my expectations. I am giving 1 star as I encountered unsanitary standards and bad customer services. I would give 2 star for the products as it was really sweet. The baked goods are expensive and very sweet. I could only give compliments to their presentation- the cakes had nice decorative elements to make them attractive. I saw the staff lady dropping one of the chocolate croissants and put it back on the counter. Did she apply the "5-second rule!"? She saw me looking then pretended to put it aside. It was very gross to see it and hope nobody got the dirty croissant. It is unacceptable for a bakery to have this unsanitary standard. All staffs were not friendly, unprofessional, and nasty rude to certain customers without any reason. I encountered a staff yelling at an elderly man because he questioned that the muffins got smaller. They are paying customers and they deserved to be treated equally. I was very shocked by these incidents and I was so repulsed by this establishment. I wanted to walk away, but I was with my little nephew and he wanted cookies. He didn't understand what was happening so I decided to get him few cookies. The cookies were very sweet and felt a little stale. They are abrupt, off put by any question related to your order, have Limited customer service skills for saying please and thank you, often wear their masks below their nose, and ultimately don't understand the business of business. The customer needs to be attended to as they are paying for a product. The server is there to make stated customer satisfied and want to return. I have been coming here for a few years; quality is always good, and naturally, I always come back. I usually order one thing I always get: a Santorini on a pita instead of the soft roll that it usually comes with. Today, Michelle notified me that there is an upcharge for the change, which is acceptable. I continued with my order as the price was not my concern. The food is good, and I am ready to pay an additional charge, which I am asking for my food to be prepared. While she put me on hold to check how much the upcharge she returned, she informed me that they could not switch from the soft roll to a pita and that this was the last time they would do it. I advised her i am ready to pay additionally, and she insisted that it would be the last time i wil be able to get the Santorini on a pita. It dawned on me you will lose a returning customer with a $15-18 sandwich, which is not much; I get it. While I understand restaurant policies and menu changes are exclusively up to them, it is a bakery where you make BREAD to sell, and I didn't ask for a radical change. It was just a pita. A friend of mine brought goodies from this bakery to an event and I fell in love with their deconstructed apple pie! She also brought a mango pie and a key lime pie dessert, and these were delicious as well. I don't think I would ever be in this area as it's quite a distance from me, but whenever she comes to visit, I know what to ask her to bring! You can tell that a lot of love and care went into making these because they are just visually stunning to look at! Sometimes, a dessert is beautiful, but tastes ordinary. This was not the case for these items. I truly enjoyed them. They are also rich, so sharing one of them with 2-3 other people despite their small size was not a problem. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. I don't know if the deconstructed Apple pie would survive a delivery via the mail to me, because once we sliced it up, it began to lose its shape after a couple of hours because the whole top is a cream. Love this bakery and so does the entire neighborhood, usually a line to order but amazing pastries and cakes, few savory goodies like burekas, real flaky croissants, great freshly squeezed oj, prepackaged cookies, lovely rougalah. They always offer holiday specials, can order in advance. My daughters fav is the chocolate cake pop with rainbow sprinkles and a beautiful selection of delectable macarons, fruit tarts and other little pastries. We usually bring a box with us whenever we visit friends with a selection of treats. read more
