Fancy Shawarma Chicken, Banana Nutella French toast, coffee, hot chocolate
    Kevin L.

A great variety of of pastries to choose from. Some tables for dining in which is a great option for a bake shop. Service was SLOW, to be fair it's a a Saturday afternoon a lot of patrons in and out. I will return to try their actual pastries on the go, they did look really good. The chicken swarma was done well. French toast was loaded with Nutella I didn't try it.

    Tuna sandwich on croissant
    Kim O.

I've gone here several times and while their food is good, I question the service. I went the other day for a tuna sandwich on croissant with cheese. The cashier asked me if I wanted the cheese melted which I said yes. Then I waited, and waited and waited. People were coming in and getting their orders and I was still standing there. Finally I had to ask for my food and someone brought it out right away. Now if this was the first time I would overlook it but this is the second or third time this has happened where I'm standing there waiting for my food and had to ask for it. Not sure why this keeps happening but they would have gotten five stars if not for this. It's a shame because I really like their food.

    Babka
    Dan S.

The service isn't perfect but the Babka is out of this world. Their other desserts are better than average but the Babka... Wow. I was supposed to bring this to a dinner engagement and ended up eating over half of it that afternoon. I paid the price and had no appetite for dinner but I have no regrets

First time visiting from Texas to drop our daughter off at college. We went back twice! Pastries are amazing! Huge menu way beyond baked goods, would eat here every day fwe lived in the area!

The busboy brought filled water glasses and made sure the he filled our water glasses. When the food server brought my dish I knew I was in trouble. My overly cooked hamburger was siting on a bun. No big deal I moved it off and saw the wilted lettuce and dead looking sliced tomato. I loaded up my dish with ketchup and asked the food server for a side of mayo. I enjoyed dipping my French fries in the ketchup and mayo and followed suit with my overly cooked hamburger. You guessed it. My ice tea was never refilled because I never saw the waiter again until he brought the check. I have been coming to this location when it was originally a stand alone building and named the College Diner. I was a customer for years and when it became the Mirage Diner I continued to patronize it. When the Mirage owners sold the property to Iona and built the existing building I was very happy to see a restaurant being built on the ground floor. It is called The Mirage. I think it has changed ownership several times because we tend to see different managers and staff. I am a very disappointed Sal E. New Rochelle. I deleted all their pictures that I had on file. I will try One more time.

I held off on reviewing this place until trying their breakfast options, and now having loved that too, it's time to share the love. Beyond delicious food, other features make this place shine. The service is quick, and rarely disappoint. The tables vary greatly in size and location on the floor, catering to a broad range of clientele- families, friends and couples all can find a suitable spot. The space itself is large enough to feel energetic but not big to a point of chaos. Nothing here is overpriced and ingredients are invariably fresh. The full package. In short, it's become my go-to casual spot.

They arrived about five minutes before the rest of us and grabbed an empty table while they waited. When we got there, the rest of us got in line to order. There were maybe five people ahead of us and plenty of empty tables. Before we even got to the counter, the owner walked over to our friends and told them they couldn't sit down before ordering. They explained that the rest of their party was already in line, but he kept insisting "that's not how it's done here" and got increasingly agitated. My friends finally asked, "Do you want us to leave?" He replied, "I'm not threatening you," but it certainly felt like he was. If that's the policy, then put up a sign. Put it on the front door, on the menus, or on the tables. Don't publicly scold customers for breaking a rule they had no way of knowing existed. It was embarrassing, especially since these were friends visiting from out of town. We left wondering why the owner was so worked up over people sitting at one of the many empty tables while the rest of their party waited in line to spend money. We've always enjoyed Stanz, but after today we won't be back. We'll be taking our lunch business down the street to Bluestone instead, where we've always been treated warmly.

Because they literally go together. The Mac is cheesy and cooked exactly how I want it to taste. It sticks together and is never burnt on top. But I have tried the potato salad (a hit for sure), collard greens (seasoned to perfection), and the sweet potato fries (which I don't like, because I don't really care for a sweet potato fry. But they are steak cut and glazed with a sweet yet light glaze). As for the meats: I've had the fried catfish, catfish bites, beef ribs, fried chicken breast, baked chicken breast, fried chicken wings (BBQ & Jerk), and the salmon, crabcakes, and the ultimate feast. Oh and I've had their chicken strips. By far my favorite and frequently ordered are the catfish bites and chicken strips. Just know that this restaurant used to be a sit down intimate spot with a catering hall a few doors down. But since CoVid, it has become solely takeout and delivery by the apps. So, you won't get a full dining experience and will have to pay for a certain kind of packaging. For instance, if you don't want your food to touch or leak into other food the. To start, we shared the crispy brussel sprouts Charleston style. These were delicious with the tangy sauce and large flakes of parmesan cheese. For my main, I had the brunch wrap. The tater tots were nice and crispy and I enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and avocado. They gave me a huge portion of crinkle cut fries, which also would've been great with a little more seasoning, but they were good when dipped in mayo. Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. All in all, here's a place that I can't wait to give another visit.
