Things are dire when you're so desperate for a coffee and some space to sit down that a kiosk starts to look appealing. Although, this wasn't half bad.
After being chased out of Hyde Park (see my review for Sakura if you could possbily be interested by my tale of woe) I stumbled up to the Domain seeking a bit of green space. This was as far as I got. The posher Pavilion on the Park restaurant directly behind this little hole in the wall looked altogether too intimidating in my fragile state. I ordered a coffee and snagged a table overlooking the Art Gallery.
The coffee was fine, and I did notice a few AG staff members sneak over for a sausage roll and a cuppa, which made me smile. Until the tree-felling classes began in conjunction with simultaneous soccer games, right in front of me. There's little I find less visually (or audibly) appealing that large groups of sweaty alpha males bellowing at each other. I imagine this is a much more peaceful spot generally. They had some basic lunch items on offer, and it provided me enough caffeine-fuelled energy to make it to St James. read more
