This is a beautiful little small business owned shop for animal lovers, and also offers grooming services. Such a cute little shop, like gift shoppes in Sarasota. We visited this location based upon a free puppy package offered by local rescue center for our new puppy. The package was far MORE than expected and so very appreciated. --- please buy something also, just don't leave with free item, let's keep small businesses like this open ! They offer several different brands, treats, and other items for puppies and cats. Pricing was not ridiculously high and some unique offerings were greatly appreciated. We would consider them for grooming and nail clippings and pricing seemed quite fair. I would only offer that plaza (once a Kmart) needs a new anchor store to draw visitors. Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness Cut my dog's hair way too short. They're the professionals, so I would hope that they know what the best grooming methods are for a breed, but I don't feel that they do. My dog is going absolutely crazy right now fly biting and licking himself non-stop because the hair on his genitals is basically shaved, and it appears they, hopefully accidentally, cut his genitals. Why would you even shave there, I could see trimming, but is shaving necessary or is it just the latest fashion trend? Thank you for traumatizing my dog. Much appreciated. We found this place on yelp while we were on vacation for two weeks in Boca Raton. We had no idea how bad the fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes are this year and my dog ended up having a terrifying "infestation" of fleas and ticks. It was very, very bad. It's especially bad because my dog was sleeping on the bed with us and I ended up being bitten all over my body. So we set out to look for a pet store that seemed like they truly care about dogs and not just trying to make a profit. Though at first, we weren't sure if this place was what we were looking for. I definitely did not want to support big pet stores like Petco and I definitely won't support pet stores that sell puppies who are most likely from puppy mills. But those are entirely different topics and if anyone wants to know more, feel free to send me a message and I'll tell you what I can. We were looking around the Paw Depot and we were immediately greeted by Matt. He asked if we needed help and he suggested a few products according to our preferences. My preference is natural and organic which was definitely not my husband's. We ended up taking an all natural dog shampoo (which was one of the better ones I've tried before), Advantix II, and a jar of diatomaceous earth (which is an amazing natural product for fleas, ticks, and more). Matt was very helpful with our purchase because he took the time to present us with our options. He even offered to drop off a product that was currently out of stock since he was going out for delivery later in the day anyway. The place is smaller than the big pet stores, but it has everything we needed. The big pet stores do not carry the food my dog eats and this place has it. It's about the same price I usually pay for in California. We looked around and there were a good selection of products for dogs. There are products for other animals too, but I didn't really bother to look at any of it. There were cute dog toys all over, cute holiday outfits for dogs, holiday treats, and all kinds of goodies along with their usual stock. It's a good place to check out if you have a pet you like to spoil. They only have high quality food for dogs and has a few specialty diets available. I do not think their prices are outrageous. I think they are comparable to the big pet stores and other places in the area. I saw another review here that said they found the same product for less on the internet, which is really not a big surprise. Online retailers do so well for a number of reasons and that is why they are putting a lot of small places out of business. But anyone who has lived for the past 25+ years would know that. Just think about Amazon and Netflix. Both of them have put out a lot of places out of business. For the excellent customer service and products, this place definitely comes up on top of the other stores in the area. Matt even offered to drop off a product for us, which we felt was above and beyond. We also checked in on our yelp app and received $5 off our purchase. Anyway, I highly recommend this place. Matt is very knowledgeable and approachable. Competitive prices for the area. Good selection of quality dog food. The Paw Depot is truly a hidden gem. I love my dogs, they are my children so obviously I want only the best for them. The Paw Depot is a boutique, family owned pet supply store which carries only the best, high quality foods, toys, treats, and supplies. After a few months of watching my Chihuahua licking his paws every night I wanted to know why. I read up on it and found out that often it's a food allergy which causes dogs to produce yeast which is why they like their paws. I spoke to a friend about changing my dogs diet & she told me about Paw Depot. I went to the store and the two owners were both eager to help me sort out the food allergy. I bought a small bag of Zignature Lamb dog food which was limited ingredient. Most often dogs are allergic to potato, corn, and chicken, the three cheapest ingredients used in most large brand dog foods. Additionally, they gave me samples of other foods to try. I was beyond pleased with the customer service and selection of foods. I have been buying food from them now for over 6 months. Recently we got a new puppy and wanted to get her bones for her teething phase. The owners told us about how rawhide is actually terrible for dogs and pointed us in the direction of "bones" made from beef tendons and antler/horn. Our Pitbull puppy LOVES the horns/antlers. Another great thing about Paw Depot is their delivery service! They will deliver your dog food, & supplies right to your doorstep! Lastly, they offer grooming services for great prices! I have not had my dogs groomed there because they are both short haired & don't require much grooming but I have had my dogs anal glands released there which was great because it is not something I would want to do myself. The Paw Depot is an excellent store & I am more than happy to support such a great, local, small business. I recommend them to all my fellow furbaby owners! read more

The girl at the front with the tattoo choker is uneducated and unhelpful. She clearly has no idea how important it is to be knowledgable and friendly when you're "manning" a storefront. Otherwise, I've taken my dog here to get her nails done a couple of times and every time she came back with un-filed, jagged nails. So I started asking them to grind/file them so that they wouldn't be so sharp (why would I need to specify that? Your guess is as good as mine!) My four dogs and I love the Paw Depot! I was there right from the beginning when they first opened... Great products, great selection of supplements, and the new groomer is wonderful! I just wish Kelly was still there... (the owners ex-wife) She is a certified pet nutritionist and had the best advice for my dogs and 2 cats! She was so knowledgeable and never pushed products on me, she honestly just cared about the animal-and getting them better. She helped my dog with Cushing's and my other dog with her thyroid and overweight issues. If I remember correctly she specialized in breed specific diets. Back to Paw Depot... Never again. Today was the second time I brought my dogs in to get groomed. The first time was a full groom it was ok, other than uneven cut ears on my Shihtzu, it was not bad enough to never return. This time they went in just for a bath, no cut. I specifically tell every groomer not to cut around the girls eyes because the hair grows back and curls in their eyes which leads to tear staining. Most good groomers know this especially for Maltese! We go to pick up the dogs and in the car I notice my perfectly white little Maltese's nose and eye area were shaved!!! AND my Shihtzu' eye nose area was hacked off unevenly!! ( see pics taken in the car). We went back inside to the owner to complain and all he says is "I can give you a free bag of treats, sorry I can't make the hair grow back... Then he goes back to the groomer to tell her what she did wrong, he comes back and says "she only did what she did last time" and proceeds to hand me a $20 bill... NO WAY!! If that was done last time I would have never come back! I personally owned a very successful groom shop in my past (still doing great business today), this is not the way to handle an upset customer when you clearly made a mistake! A. The groomer needs to go to grooming school again. B. The owner should have just apologized and offered a next bath on them (not just insulting me by saying he can't make the hair grow back and, that's what they did before, and just waving a $20 bill at me. I paid $60 plus tip to now have 2 beautiful babies that have hacked up faces. Sorry, never again. read more

I saw a Living Social deal for The Paw Depot, so I read over their reviews. I was excited about what I had read, but went out of town and did not get the deal. Yesterday, I called and scheduled an appt with Matt on the phone for my dog to be groomed and did not mention the living social deal. I arrived at the store a little early because I wanted to look around, meet Rosa the groomer and get a feel for the place. Loved it all! Matt was friendly, walked my dog and I to the back to meet Rosa together and listened to everything thing I had to say about my dogs history. I casually mentioned that I had originally seen the living social deal and read all their reviews on yelp but that I had not gotten the deal. He gave it to me anyway! I was so pleased when I returned 3 hours later to pick up my dog. He looked gorgeous and was happy! Matt gave me coupons for our next visit and also told me I can get pick up and delivery service for my dogs next visit. No charge. Ever. I also walked out of there with all kinds of goodies from my deal-a harness(that Matt fitted for my pup), a bag of their best selling dogfood(with a lesson on what's best for my dog to eat), a bag of doggie treats(again what's best for him-he's getting up in years) and a dog toy. Just let me say this, the people that work at paw depot especially the owner and his wife are the most knowledgeable dog people I have ever met . I have a French Bulldog, she has been suffering with skin allergies. I took her the vet and they gave me prednisone for like three days . It went away and came right back. I spent so much money at the vet it was ridiculous. So I went to paw depot and talked to the owners wife. She told me never to give a frenchie chicken or beef. They have severe allergies from that. So right away I changed her food to Zignature turkey formula plus they gave me a product called Natur Vet allergies hemp seed , which is a chew you out in there food or just give as a treat. Can I just say this whole time I have been lied to be my vet. Never once did a vet tell me anything like this. Because of paw depot my frenchie is healed. She never gets skin sores anymore . All of them healed and her energy is impeccable. I don't no what I would have done if I haven't gone there. I appreciate law depot like I cannot even say. I'm so grateful and I would not Recommend another place to get dog food and other things that can help my dog healthy. They are so knowledgeable, more than a vet . I can't say enough about this place. Everyone is so friendly & knowledgeable from the girls at the front desk to the Manager Matt but the reason for my post today is the Groomer, Trisha. My dog is getting up there in age and uncooperative is putting it lightly. I witnessed firsthand how anxious he was and how patient Trisha was with him which allowed her to give my 15 yr. old Morkie a much needed bath and grooming. I am forever grateful for her patience and compassion and even though my dog did not appear grateful I know he felt 10x better when he left there today than when he walked in. 8-29-15. Waste of time and money! I brought my dog in for grooming. I was told it would take 45 minutes. Over two hours later and they still hadn't even cut his hair yet. I couldn't wait any longer and paid $40 to have someone take over two hours to give my tiny dog a bath. They were very rude as if they were doing me a favor. DO NOT bring your dog here if you want good service in a timely manner. I have never ever written a bad review for any business but this place is terrible. I was ready to purchase my Fromm dog food from them as well. Good thing I didn't because The Paw Depot is HIGHLY OVERPRICED. I am so disgusted at the way they handle their dogs while grooming them- I will never take my dog there again. I would not trust my dog alone with them. This is the email and story I have sent the owner;; I was just in your store and I was given your email and number, however your line is disconnected or having some issues so I'm unable to call. I am so appalled at the way the groomers were handling the dogs. I didn't catch their names but one of them was working on a white poodle, yanking it's hair so hard it kept nipping at her in pain. The other blonde one, who I don't think could communicate with me because she didn't know English. I introduced myself and my dog and told her that he was skittish and needed a muzzle because he had tried to nip the groomers before. She didn't say anything back, just gave me a nasty look and took my dog to the back room. After watching her just pull him back and forth for ten minutes, I can see that she's unable to get the muzzle on him, and needs assistance. Then, the front cashier offered for me to come in the back area to help calm him down. I'm sitting with her as she tries to clip his nails and she is pulling his paws out and pushing down on the clipper, unable to do it. She had no idea what she was doing, and she was being rough with him, he was crying out in pain- so I said no, I changed my mind, it was upsetting. So I ask her, please take the muzzle off him, and she doesn't, so I do it myself and she grabs his leg and yanks on it, and says let me finish. I said please let go, and I took him out. I've come twice before and had different groomers and never had problems. It was so so upsetting to see someone handle my dog like that, and not even care. I don't think I can feel comfortable bringing my dog back and I wanted to let you know so you can handle these horrible groomer's customer service and animal handling. read more
