It is such a relief to have a place like Fins Furs and Feathers in Boca. My 2.5yr old Labrador retriever, Molly, has been through the wringer lately dealing with the side effects of autoimmune meningitis treatment, and honestly, this store and the staff have been a wonderful resource. While I have several great vets, they don't always have the time, experience, or a new concern arises a few days outside our appt window. The staff here knows us, and they've spent so much time just talking things out with me--from food choices to most recently figuring out how to protect her paws from further injury after rupturing ligaments in her hind toes from high dose prednisone. To actually spend time in a conversation is comforting when there are so many medical complications. I love that since Molly is trusted off lead, that when the store is empty she can wander around and be herself while we brainstorm. At the height of treatment for meningitis, when prednisone and chemotherapy were wasting her away, this was the one & only place Molly would go to and wag her tail. If not behind the counter waiting for more treats she wanders from sniffing the furry animals up for sale/adoption or is down the treat aisle with a tennis ball. Prices are the same, if not better than big box stores and they have treats that I don't find elsewhere. Our current favorite is St Rocco's Beef & Pumpkin. They are kind, patient & knowledgeable It is a fun and relaxing environment where they actually care about the needs of your pet. You as a customer need to know they have an unstable bridge that you walk over which has been there forever, not safe. In rainy weather it drifts water all over you as you walk to the only front door on steps that are now wet people should know this as it's unsafe for potential customers. Under the new ownership from Canada, I find disrespect, I find Rudeness, I find selective customers taken care of by the new owner and another employee while I was personally ignored, & treated badly. This was not the first time and it is the last time!! The products are overpriced and I'm not paying that kind of money and have bad service. I've been going here for over four decades. I don't know if it's been the same owners and managers this whole time, but if it has, kudos to you . It's so nice to have a brick and mortar pet stores when most othersl have already gone, online. I enjoy browsing the shelves and picking out the small items that I need, cute toys I find, prescription pet foods, and other little items that I wouldn't find at other places. Plus, it's always a pleasure to be able to do business with an actual person. Who's there to chat with you about your animals and what they need and want and what's good for them and what's not etc.. This place at first glance was fine with a friendly face to greet you but as you continue on you see the conditions; the uncleanliness, the birds and parrots in the back seemed distraught and screeching the entire visit as if in distress. It was very unsettling. We continued onto the back where there was fish maybe only a few but many tanks. A lot empty. The tanks were disgusting. It looked like mold/slime/mucus growing inside of these tanks. Then in buckets on the floor were big beautiful goldfish, while three/four employees were at the front eating their food. I am in true shock, as I just went to update my review and seeing these horrific reviews... Fins Furs N Feathers' is truly the place to go... they ONLY carry the BEST food, treats, accessories, wash, and clothes... Their prices are MORE THAN FAIR... the treatment of the whole gang is bar none... additionally, I was in absolute amazement that when I came in the shoppe a few months ago... my food was on the table, earmarked with my name on it AND?!! I love to support local businesses instead of chains and I drove out of my way to do so on a busy weekend. What a disaster. This place is filthy. The bird cages looked like they hadnt been cleaned in days and when I quietly and politely pointed to the fact that one of the birds was in a draft and offered that maybe the bird could be moved to an open space out of the AC draft, (a health risk to birds), the lady yelled at me in front of the other customers. and the animals. While I was there, I heard her yell at two other customers over totally unrelated things. One was because she gave the lady the wrong change!! I could hardly believe it. And the other one was a child! I know it's tough to keep a home with pets clean, let alone an entire store. So I have a high tolerance for this, and especially for family owned small businesses. But this place was beyond unkept. I usually go to Wild Cargo Pets for my pet needs and they do such an amazing job of being friendly and helpful and clean. I've been going there for more than 3 years. Today, I was shopping in Boca and decided to give this place a chance. That won't happen again. It's worth the drive to go up to Wild Cargo, or really anywhere else unless you want filth and to be yelled at by a woman who obviously doesn't appreciate her customers at all. read more

The staff has always been very friendly and helpful (especially with helping us select food and treats compatible our dogs' health conditions), they stock high quality items, and they have fundraising/donations opportunities that benefit local animal rescues. I ended up in Fins, Furs N Feathers to grab a treat for my mom's dog for his birthday, this place is so cute! There's a little koi pond when you walk in and they have tons of stuff for all kinds of pets! By the register there was bandanas with adorable patterns on it. I even saw a puppy birthday cake! Fins Furs N Feathers (let us just call it FFF) is a great locally owned pet shop in east Boca that has been around since 1970. I used to go to Petsmart for my dog food needs, but I recently switched food brands per my vet's suggestion that Petsmart doesn't carry. FFF not only carried it, but they had tons of samples to give me in each of the flavors to see which kind my pups liked the best. The guys at the counter didn't even blink an eye about handing me plenty of bags for sampling and did so with knowledge and a smile. After I decided on which flavor to feed, I was having trouble stopping in on a day where they had the biggest bag of it available (side note: I have 3 dogs). So the guy at the counter set an order for me and told me to let him know how often I need a new bag. Now they will automatically hold a large bag in the back with my name on it to ensure I always have it. Needless to say, I love the service I receive at FFF. If you like their Facebook page, you can find out specials and contests that they run monthly. The staff also provided him with his own personalized bag of treat sampling's (Cooper found the stash of treat samples behind the counter & invited himself to try some before the staff so kindly offered to give us our very own array to try at home) MUST!!! I swear they have to be racist. Because they treated me like they were. Absolutely no common decency from any of the workers including the owner. I brought in an item to return (granted) I had not brought the receipt. They told me no all at the same time and I said I'd come back when I found it. I was ready to make my way out after they had told me no. They had approached me with the idea that I had stolen it, "that specific item has never passed through OUR register, you stole it from us". The fact they thought I stole a 5$ fish item is ridiculous. From that moment on, I felt extremely uncomfortable. Embarrassingly yelling and using condescending language with me until I made my way out. I had no words, other than what a shame. They have absolutely nothing of good quality in the store not even the customer service. So if you need to buy anything for your pets and you love your pets, please don't go here. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! After talking with Taylor for a few minutes, she recommended not changing his food but trying a pre-and probiotic to see if it would help his sensitive stomach. I stepped away only once to check out a so called holistic store, but, after that rude and unprofessional encounter I ran back to my favorite place. I love the sisters. I find them honest and with no bull attitudes. They are caring and extremely knowledgeable about all types of animals. Wouldn't trust my precious pet's health to anyone else. To the gentleman making the statement about the sister in the midst of all her fabric. You, poor soul, have obviously not been privy to the most wonderful things that come from that corner. Recently she has been making masks and you can have one for a simple donation. There are beautifully made quilts and blankets handcrafted by this sister. What a shame to be so critical of another's loved hobby. One could very easily run to the nearest pet store and be one part of a chain store. It was a nice attempt to redeem your practices Debbie but the truth speaks for itself! Our bird had been staying with you for daily visits for TWO years!! We prepaid sometimes months in advance for the cage she has stayed in for two years which was promised never to be given away unless we terminated our agreement which we NEVER did!!! Lisa took it upon herself to just give away the cage without ever telling us as we had been promised after TWO YEARS of bringing our bird in every day to that cage. (The cage had been already prepaid for the month). Let me remind you we continued to do that daily to support your business during the Covid crisis as well. At no time were we EVER offered another cage. Needless to say after being a loyal customer for years, endless purchases of goods easily purchased for less elsewhere, endless recommendations to members of the community we were treated in such a blatantly disgusting way. There are no words for your lack of professionalism and treatment of your customers. The rest of my previous review STANDS as to your business practices. Sugar is doing so well now! No more bloody irritated feathers. She just looks so beautiful now! She is so clean and happy and enjoying a healthy diet. We are so sorry we thought it would be better to have her spend time with other birds in that environment. Shame on us for believing she was getting proper care. It is not my style to be petty but since you mentioned that Lisa went out of her way to make a mask for me that is not TRUE either. She was making masks and handing them out to anyone who would take one. Not only did they carry the food I needed (at a very reasonable price), but I also found some wonderfully dedicated & accommodating people. They know their stuff and it shows! They are always willing to order whatever I need if it's not in stock, they call me when it arrives, and they'll hold it until I can pick it up. I went in near closing yesterday and met an incredibly competent clerk, Terry. We had a long discussion about dog food and she gave me some samples. I talked about getting a new harness for my dog and she highly recommended that I bring him in for a fitting. I was blown away by the service. Especially at closing time.
