UPDATE: After speaking with the owner, I am updating this from 1 to 3 stars. She sincerely apologized for the incident and worked with us to explain the situation when Percy was there. I felt that she truly cared about what happened to him and that it was an accident and miscommunication. The store itself has a lovely atmosphere and Donna takes her time to educate her customers on all the available food options. She recommended trying out the self-wash to get Percy more comfortable with the atmosphere of a busy store. I would recommend purchasing supplies there because she is a good, knowledgeable business owner who cares about her clients. Regardless, we won't be coming here for grooming services. Even if it was the busiest time and our dog was finicky, we should have been promptly informed of his distress. The call my sister received did not have a sense of urgency that anything was amiss. If he had to be bathed 5 times, how did no one notice his inflamed eye? I felt like our baby was passed over and pushed aside because it was a busy day to schedule a grooming appointment. I hope they take more care in communicating and paying attention to the pets in their care. I understand that they are a business and they can't call every owner for every scared pet, but I would rather be called a million times than be shocked and heartbroken to see my dog like this. Do not take your dog here! The most unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. I can not believe the audacity of these people. I had a scheduled appointment at 12pm today, the staff calls me and states that people canceled and would like me to come in early. I said sure, I can leave in 20 minutes and be about an hour early. I arrive at 11:00am to drop my dog off for grooming. Only to be told that they can not take my dog because I didn't come early enough for them. I say ok, we'll take my dog for his original 12pm appointment. They then say they cancelled my appointment because I was asked to come earlier and scheduled someone else. This is absurd! They lost a costumer today and I hope they lose many more. Poor customer service, mediocre dog grooming, and overall just a poor establishment. Take you animal elsewhere. The best. So quick to answer the phone. I've bought leashes here, bathed my dogs there with their tubs and they even put my shampoo in an easy squirt bottle! They deliver food to your door SO QUICK! We called yesterday and we're inquiring about a full service appt but they are booked out months in advanced so we decided to do the self wash. They had an opening for today that we were able to snag. yay! The self wash is $25 and comes with facial wash, shampoo, and conditioner and ear cleaner. They are not stingy at all and give you more then enough of everything. They give you a towel to towel dry and then they have dryers! Donna was beyond helpful. She guided us the entire way and checked on us frequently. She gave me some tips and tricks and honestly her aura makes you know you and your pet are in good hands. She genuinely cares! She had asked me if I was on the list to be notified if they have any sooner openings for services and I said no so she went to go check and they have an appt one month sooner then my original appt so she switched that for me. The last thing that I loved was how friendly she was with my daughter. She's younger and is curious about everything and Donna never made me feel like my daughter was "too much" thank you Donna!!! read more

"Friday January 5th, Robert took Princess in to this establishment to bathe her and get a nail trim. She as way overdue for a nail trim. My hubby said they were very quick and professional at The Paw Spa. That truly means a lot because Robert's very particular when it comes to Princess, his American Cattle Dog. The self wash service is so convenient. I love washing and grooming my moms dog and even better no mess at home! They even give you access to the professional dryers which is exactly what I needed! Blow dryers for our hair takes too long lol. They provide shampoo and conditioner, ear cleaning, and a blueberry facial that smells amazing. They also will trim nails, the girls were so gentle with my older dog, they let her sit on their lap while they did her nails which was sooooo stress free for her. The Paw Spa is an excellent place to bring your baby for a self serve wash. It's by appointment with self serve at 3pm/3:30pm/4pm with a 30 minute wash limit. Or for an additional cost, one of their employees can wash your baby, and appointments can be made between 9am and before 2pm. We brought our baby in for the self serve. He's just under a year old, so there's much that's new to him and that's including a bath outside of our home. We got lucky because not one single dog was there, so we were able to take our time and get him used to the place without distractions. The tubs are a great size and everything for a bath is included. Shampoo, conditioner, tear-free face wash, ear cleaner, brush/comb, scrubber, apron for yourself, a towel/and or dryer, and ear covers if your baby is afraid of the noise of the dryer. Everything is sanitized and organized. They also sell pet foods, snacks, refrigerated items, and a select fur/hair care items in their store when you immediately enter. Donna (manager?) and Donna (owner) are both knowledgeable and helpful when it came to my questions. Prices are average/or the same as other pet stores. Great place to visit for healthful snacks and for a self serve wash. read more

Good first experience at The Paw Spa! Called Friday night even after Business hours according to Yelp and was delighted to have someone pick up my call. They were able to schedule me the very next day at a convenient time so I was thrilled about that! When I arrived, a lady checked me in right away (I want to assume it was the owner) she knew my desired haircut without even saying it lol but I added a few more services. A young lady took my dog without asking, so a little weird about that. I would recommend for them to address the parents before taking our pups to the back. She took my pooch to the owner and she evaluated him right in front of me and then he disappeared to the back. :( My appointment was at 10am and literally got a call at 11 on the dot! I took my husky to Paw Spa for the first time today after being loyal to another "doggie" place in the same town for over two years. Declining service and bad attitudes prompted a switch and man, am I glad I gave Paw Spa a shot. I have never seen my husky so white!! It's shedding season and even though I brush him several times per week I've never gotten his coat to be so soft and "small." I say small because after they washed and brushed him out, he looks 15 pounds lighter! Donna and her staff are friendly and pleasant. This is my dog after going for a 72.00 haircut/grooming at this place. But never mind the cost. He's a mini poodle that now resembles a schnauzer. His fur gets tangly on his legs and is difficult to brush therefore we have been trying to get him in regularly. His legs were cut and bleeding with missing skin when he was done. It is atrocious and downright animal abuse. We have been going here about 5 times regularly since the owner suggested regular grooming and have noticed the absolutely heinous and disrespectful and non apologetic attitude of the owner. My poor dog is a pound puppy who has come a long way since being adopted from the shelter. He is kind and loving but very nervous. The owner took a dig at me last time for being a bad owner because my dog apparently was not obedient enough for her. I thought that was her being funny and wrote it off thinking it was in bad taste. So I decided to go back. This time when I asked why my dog was bleeding from being groomed/shaved down to his skin/ open wounds she said I was not taking responsibility for my dog and yelled at me in front of other patrons and my young kids , that I'm a bad owner and should never own pets while showing me her rules and regulations. I believe even my vet was blamed for something this place did. She / her staff didn't take any ownership of what happened and were not even worried about my dogs well being. This is inexcusable and these people should be ashamed of themselves for even opening a grooming salon. They have absolutely no kindness in their hearts for animals. read more

Worse by far: they cut my dog's claws so short (all of them right to the quick) one of them bled all day and she limped for 2 days. And they took off so much of her undercoat she has a bald spot on her back the size of a football. Don't believe me? Look at several of the other reviews complaining of their dogs being cut. To the person reading this, know that I only write reviews on Yelp if my experience with a store was absolutely and completely horrible or an amazing, 10/10 experience and I'm so so happy to say I am so happy I found this place for my fur baby!!! I know that some, if not all, treat our pets as if they were our children and as our babies, we want the absolute best for them. Trust me when I say that this place is the best place to get them groomed. CHEAPER than Petco, friendlier, more experienced and well informed in all things dogs. I had a chat with the owner when I picked up my dog yesterday after his grooming was done, and Donna told me she ONLY hires people that have a FIVE year minimum experience. That alone should give you comfort in knowing you're bringing your babies to a good place! I had a grooming appointment set up a few days ago at Petco in Mira Loma but was unsure of bringing my boy because of the rushed and unwelcoming experience I had just with setting the appointment alone. Luckily, my husband knows someone that used to work at the Paw Spa and assured me that the people who will be taking care of our boy are experienced and that he would be well taken care of. I walked in to the store yesterday around 10:50am to a line of people waiting to drop their dogs off for their grooming. The poor girl (Donna, the employee, not the owner) at the front desk was trying her best to accommodate everyone as fast as she could and was still able to squeeze in a greeting when customers would walk in while still loving on the dogs that she would take from owners. I don't know if my dog was nervous or just being bad, but while waiting in line, he peed in the store. Embarrassed, I asked her for paper towels to clean up the mess. She refused and even though she had a million things to do, she smiled and told me she'd take care of it. So sweet! When I reached the front of the desk, I explained to her that it was my first time and asked her what she recommended for my dog. She gave me options and patiently explained each one. I gave her my boy and before she took him to the back, she talked to him and loved him which made me feel so happy and confident in my decision on bringing him here. A few hours later I got a call that Duke was ready to be picked up. I walked in to the store and since someone was paying for their dogs' food, I was walking around looking for treats for my dog. I overheard the owner tell her customer that "if brands don't have a guarantee, (she) won't allow it to be sold at (her) store" she also knows a lot about what the good/bad ingredients in dog food are and only sells the good. She took about 20 minutes talking to me about how some treats are made, what the best ingredients in dog food are (she told me about a YouTube video on Dr Karen Becker: the best and worst types of dog food) AND gave me some free samples for my dog to try. read more

I had the best experience getting both of my dogs nails trimmed (and one grinded). 1. No appointment needed for nail trim 2. Extremely reasonable ($17 for two dogs. One of them got a nail grinding). 3. I didn't have to leave them. I was in and out in about 15-20 minutes. 4. They did it right in front of me and both of my dogs seemed extremely comfortable with them. One of my dogs is very anxious and she was great with them. Definitely going to make this my go-to place from now on. read more

Geesh I really felt like they were very nice in the beginning. I left my curly haired maltipoo with them. They explained that her butt area was matted due to her scooting and she'd need a level 7 trim. Which is low but not bald I agreed with it. They were done within a timely manner so I assumed no problems. I pick my baby up and I get the report she was a "bad dog" their words with them and instead of calling me, opted to charge me more for a helper. In my mind I think well she was in new surroundings and what do you expect her first time (regularly groomed dog) there so I just accepted that but I hadn't looked at her. I get home and examine my dog and the pics are what I see. She will NOT stop soothing herself and she hasn't had her normal happy energy and I'm assuming it's because she's uncomfortable or flat out in pain! I'm infuriated that this is what I paid $72 for! If you got help with her tiny self why is she nicked and red in areas!??? Terrible! Just terrible! I saw the owner smart mouth ask another unsatisfied customer what is she trying to accomplish posting this review...I'll tell you so you don't ask...that NO ONE ever bring their animal there is they care. You were not careful with my fur baby and I don't take that lightly! I was told nothing was wrong with my dog except she was bad as if you don't know working with dogs first visit couldn't be something you needed to pay attention to. She had no skin issues, no behavior issues. She was probably cut and after that didn't want you to touch her, so she was timid and uncooperative and you could of called instead of pushing her through the money line. My pug is 8 years old and was in desperate need for a dental treatment. My vet has insisted on using anesthesia for the process. Since Lola is a pug, I have been afraid of doing that because I know of some pugs who have died from the procedure. I found The Paw Spa online and just took Lola there this morning. I love this place! I bring my cat here once every three months or so to be bathed. I took him today to get him a lion cut. And he's ugly. But that's not the fault of the groomers. Overall, they do an okay job with baths. After seeing some of the grooming photos, we're lucky our pup is a shorthair. The first time we took our pup here for a wash, we mentioned that he needed to be brushed out because he was shedding a lot. He came out smelling nice and his coat felt good. But a day or two after, we noticed a ton of scabs around his neck and back area. We couldn't figure out what it was from. However, now seeing the photo of the brown dog's back with all the red spots and scabs, we concluded that it was after taking him here for his bath. He was so lethargic that we ended up taking him to the vet, which resulted in two weeks of antibiotics. It took a few weeks before we were able to get all the scabs out of his fur. It's hard to imagine that all the wounds came from when he just went in for a bath. What tools are you using that can cause this?? read more

Honestly disappointed in this place. I brought my golden retriever in to get a A-line haircut, They called me saying they wanted to shave his butt because it was matted which I gave them my consent. when I went to pick up my golden retriever they shave all of his body which I did not consent to. I don't even understand why they did that to him. He was not matted at all in the rest of his body! I've been going here for 5 years and I'm probably never coming back. They still had the nerve to charge me $92! For shaving my dog?! Ridiculous! Keep in mind my dog is 10 years old and has hip and joint issues. Now that it's cold and he has no fur to keep him warm it's hard for him to even get up! Honestly this is animal abuse at this point. And I don't use this word lightly. read more
