So happy to have Reverie back but (in my opinion) even better than before!…read more This time, they're located inside the Promenade with the coolest little vibes surrounded by other great businesses: acupuncture, permanent jewelry, pop ups and more. The only "downside" here is that they don't have a full kitchen like they used to but this doesn't stop this awesome **woman owned** biz to bring her best to the table. From street corn toast to liege waffles, yes, they have nutella too :') - this place has all the basic things you need for an amazing coffee break. While covering your vegan and gluten free needs with plenty of options. I will say, the gf waffles are the frozen toaster ones (which is totally fine because no kitchen so there's options for everyone!). Can't wait to try the liege waffles next! I have my eye on the mushroom and onion avocado toast but I can assure you the street corn chickpea stands pretty great on it's own. Expect tea and coffee bags and lots of goodies available for purchase with an awesome seating area just perfect for hanging out or doing some work while you sip and snack. OK. I never get lattes and the lavender latte possessed me and made me order it. On a hot day I never even said how I wanted it. Somehow someway, the awesome barista and owner KNEW to make it cold, and I'm SO glad I had this lavender iced latte EXPLODING with lavender. Not overly sweet, just right and fully natural. Basically it didn't taste like a fake lavender simple syrup combo. Oh, best part, milk options are endless. Oat and COCONUT are in the house. Of course, I got the coconut! You can order other great beverages like the pea lemonade (the pretty purple one!!) and other plant derived natural elixirs. Can't wait to try!

But inside - it is rustic, large and has many tables around, some in corners to create an intimate and private space. It's very comfortable and inviting. The coffee house was clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. The staff were very friendly. They offer a variety of coffees, typical of an artisan coffee shop. There was food and different types of good looking pastries offered. We ordered a Macchiato but they didn't know how to make that. So we settled on two Cappuccinos. The prices were a bit cheaper then other well know coffee places. The cups and lids were a bit of a disappointment. They were cheaply made and I was worried the lid would pop off. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the coffee. It was watery and weak and we ended up not finishing them. This is a very nice looking shop, and the staff was sweet, but unfortunately the mediocre coffee doesn't make it worth a return visit for me.

It was literally the only place I could find on short notice with reservation slots available, which maybe should have been a sign (and certainly a reminder to me to be much more proactive about this sort of thing in the future). This was sort of a meet in the middle for us; she's in Redding, CT, and I'm in North Jersey. Common Grounds is located at the end of a strip mall, though arguably a higher-end one. The parking lot was VERY busy and while spots were relatively easy to find, I had to settle for one further away close to the bowling alley next door. All good though in that regard. The first hint that this was going to go downhill happened almost immediately. Despite having made the reservation for 11, our designated table wasn't available for seating because the prior party was "lingering." There wasn't a time limit on the dining parties so it seemed like Common Grounds just made assumptions on when people would leave, which is probably not an exact science on the best of days, and certainly not on a day where you might have a family reunion element. We were offered a large high-top table to sit at instead, which my mother isn't comfortable with, and after a few minutes of sitting there, were instructed to take a "normal" table by the window. I will give props for the hostess reading the room in that regard and doing what she could to give us an optimal seating situation - the wait and miscalculation wasn't her fault. She was also very nice to my mother, which for sure counts for something. It took probably 15 minutes for our waitress to come by and ask for drink/food orders, which isn't great. I'd decided on the Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Pancakes from the Specials menu, only to be told by the waitress that they were no longer available. I then had to quickly pivot to the French Toast from the regular menu, but lack of availability is something that should have been mentioned when we received the menus, not while we're ordering. And it wasn't even noon - a little concerning. I don't know if it was just a bad day behind the scenes, but it took over 45 minutes to get two pretty simple brunch entrees to us, and almost as much time to get our beverages. That would at least be understandable if the place was packed and everyone was busy, but that wasn't the case - a lot of tables emptied up within 20 minutes of our arrival, and in a pretty troubling optic, most of the front-end waitstaff was literally just standing around by the coffee station not doing anything. That's bad management, and could have helped alleviate whatever was happening in the kitchen. You have five minutes to kill? Okay, stop by your tables and apologize for the delay. Help bus and turn over the recently vacated tables. Maybe refill my water glass, which was empty for most of my meal. There's just no excuse for that. And it's a shame because my Cardamon Rose Latte was excellent, and the French Toast was very good as well. French Toast isn't one of my go-to's, but when I have it I prefer it to be softer and not as cumbersome, and this fit the bill. But because the wait time and overall service was mediocre at best, I didn't even want to go near a dessert menu or consider having a second latte - that probably would have tacked on another hour. So by virtue of not being attentive and efficient, Common Grounds left money on the table. A real shame; and frankly, surprising to me given that this has to be a very notable day on the calendar for brunch places. I'd ensure everything was well-oiled and ready to go, and it's clear it just wasn't. I overheard quite a few people outside singing the praises of this place, and I saw enough to probably understand why. But we weren't the beneficiary of most of those qualities.

Smokin J's BBQ catered our engagement party this past weekend and WOW, where do I begin?!…read more Everything was complete perfection from start to finish. From the food to the service to the preparation, we were impressed every step of the way. We seriously could not recommend Smokin J's enough!! To start, the food was absolutely incredible. All of our guests could not stop raving about it! For appetizers, we had pulled pork sliders and jalapeño poppers (which were a personal favorite). They were not only delicious, but the perfect size to grab and eat as they were passed around. They were a perfect introduction of what was to come. For the main course, we had pulled pork, smoked chicken, ribs, potato salad, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. Every single dish I listed was cooked perfectly. I honestly don't think I've had bbq that good before (I will be thinking about it for a long time to come!). Out of our friends and family, we have some pretty tough food critics and I can say with confidence that it was a hit with everyone. Not only did everything taste amazing, but it was filling as well. There definitely wasn't anyone that left with an empty stomach. It's been a few days since the party but people have been talking nonstop about the food. Next, I'll talk about the service. Joe worked with us to develop the menu and timeline, answered any and all questions we had (day of and prior to the party), and gave us a full rundown of what to expect in terms of setup and execution. Everything was laid out clearly ahead of time, so we were not worried about a thing going into the party; Joe really had everything planned to a tee. Day of, Joe came with two additional team members, Jerry and Elisa, to help cook and serve everything. They were equally as fantastic. As soon as the appetizers were ready, they started their rounds making sure everyone had a chance to have a bite as they arrived and mingled. There was one point where Joe noticed I hadn't eaten (I was busy running around like a nut saying hi to everyone), and called me over for a question. The "question" was really just an excuse to get me away, so I had a moment to breathe and have a bite to eat. I was moving a mile a minute, so this small gesture really meant a lot! Joe and his team really go above and beyond what you would expect from any caterer. They are not only extremely talented at what they do, but they are kind, personable, and wonderful people. I would gladly recommend Smokin J's to anyone and everyone, and would love to use them again in the future!

Jimmy, Donna and Mary Anne helped with set up and transitioning as well as serving the food. The food was delicious! We definitely recommend them for any event.
