Went in to check out their guitars. Lots of low end stuff but there was one I was slightly considering. The old man, possibly the owner, spoke to me like I knew nothing about guitars despite my many years of playing. I was looking for a serial number. He angrily said guitars don't have serial numbers. Wrong. He gave me a bottom line price, I told him I'm still shopping around. I said 'Thanks', he turned his back and said 'No thanks to you'. There were a number of moments of disrespect from this guy but it's sad that I didn't receive basic human courtesy. There was another worker there who was super friendly. I wish that person helped me instead of the grumpy resentful guy. Ive received many loans from ron over the past 2 years specifically on my nintendo switch products but never again will I step in this establishment. As soon as I walked in looking for a 40 dollar loan for 3 sealed very popular games. The first thing he said rudely was "oh we only take the mario games" sitting behind his computer chair like he always is. Which is a complete lie because I have pawned many various popular games with them. Anyway Ron is a very moody guy and does actually try to extremely low ball you. I mean what can I say it's not the best pawn shop I have been to. The staff was mediocre not very excited to see someone walk through the door. The gentleman in the back seemed more interested in what I had then the guy I first spoke to, and then one guy walked by and just said no we won't take it and kept walking giving no interest. I recently purchased a Ryobi Miter saw from here and the transaction was such a great experience. I initially thought I was going to purchase the saw from an owner since I found the posting on Offerup, but eventually saw it was sold by this pawnshop. We communicated on the app, had a bit of deal making through Offerup, and then made my way to the shop when we agreed on a price. The shop required their patrons wearing a mask upon entering (which I appreciated). The place was clean and organized well. A gentleman named Hector helped me out. He knew exactly what I was there for. He pointed me to the saw, demonstrated it for me and then processed the transaction. He made sure everything that I had to touch was sanitized and clean before I made contact without being rude about it. It really felt like health and safety of our community was a top priority here. Don't know too much about pawnshops, except that they are usually not as easy to work with like this one. I have kept an item there for a good time, and when i go back to make a payment, they don't really hassle you, or make you feel embarrassed because you had to pawn something. Been living in Chula Vista all my life and never been to a pawnshop so my first experience was awesome! I get tons of items to review on Amazon and they always sent me two. He was very rude and acted like I was wasting his time. He would not budge on the price, which is unbelievable to me since Pawnshops hustle people that pawn their property. I have been to other pawnshops and nobody has ever come close to the unmatched customer service that is provided by these fine people. Unlike, other pawnshops who try to basically steal your items with their insulting offers...these people try to help you and give you very reasonable offers. I did a "Pepsi Challenge" once and took my $1,200 laptop (I put it back in the box and everything) and went to five pawnshops. I gave them all the same story about needing cash for a family emergency and not one of them wanted to give me even close to what I was asking for...except The Pawnshop who actually took the time to look at it and research the specs and they said they could lend me X dollars which was more than what I was going to ask for. I've gone in here before and it was still nothing to to rave about but the second time I decided to go here WILL BE THE LAST. I came in hoping to sell some stuff I no longer wanted and perhaps to pocket some extra cash for my upcoming move back to the central valley. Talked to an employee and who suggested I needed to speak to the owner who is the one who buys items for the shop but the owner was with another customer. I waited nearly 20 minutes until I finally got helped. On top of that, the big guy who typically buys the items of interest said he couldn't help me and walked off. Afterward, as we were collecting our belongings and on our way out of the shop, my husband made a stink and complained about getting rid of it all since we don't have a whole lot of time to work with. I look up and see that my husband is faced away from the owner and just as I look away to the back, I see the owner rudely mimicking my husband by pouting, crying, and wiping his imaginary tears away like a baby. I had asked a older (grandpa) gentleman if it can be plugged into a outlet, so I can test it out (typical request). He replied "We test all our merchandise out before we purchase it from other people". OKAY!? I did want to check if it worked, but more importantly to see how it operates. I explained that to him and he (with attitude) had another employee plug it in. Come to find out IT DIDN'T WORK (bit him in the a**)! Him and the employee said nothing. First review on Yelp. I paid 19 dollars on a 30 dollar loan. I initially was told my items pawned would be worth a 25 dollar loan. I offered two more items a Yamaha acoustic guitar and a Ryobi cordless drill and charger to see if I could secure another 5 dollars on my loan as I needed 30 dollars. I was told my guitar and drill would not acceptable for another 5.00 but that they would give me the 30 dollars on my initial items. I was happy and thought this was good business practice until I went to buy back my items and was charged an extra 8 dollars for the 5 dollars he approved. Totalling 19 dollars interest on a 30 dollar loan. I was not informed about the 8 dollar interest I would need to pay for them to loan me the extra 5 dollars until I went to buy back my items. I was grateful for the extra 5 dollars but I was surprised to learn that it cost me 8 dollars for the extra 5 dollars. Considering the storage my items were brought in on Monday and I bought them back on Wednesday. So my items were there for 2 days. I would give a zero rating if possible. This place has staff that are not customer service friendly it has the atmosphere that they are grudgingly doing you a favor they lack courtesy. They take advantage of people in dire straights monetarly wise and on top of that do it in a begrudgingly manner. Basically I paid 19 dollars for a 30 dollar loan.
