Really cute little coffee shop with sandwiches and smoothies, perfect for a fall morning walk to grab a drink and a quick bite. We had the ham and egg sandwich and the bacon and egg sandwich to eat. Both were served on a warm, buttery croissant and made fresh to order. Perfect size for a quick bite. I had a skinny vanilla iced latte which was delicious, and my boyfriend had a strawberry banana smoothie which I liked even better than my coffee. The smoothie had the kind of icy texture that I really like. Service was friendly, atmosphere was quaint and comfy. Will definitely be back.

Literally sandwiched between a pizza chain and a dentist: the Single best word for describing this place is INTERESTING. The next word that comes to mind is DELICIOUS. The place is a bit of an enigma: it feels like it has been there forever, yet in all the times I have driven by I never noticed it. It is across the street from an outdoor public blackboard. Inside it seems to bring to mind tones somewhere between the 60s and 80s. Locals seem to inhabit the place, which somehow manages to feel both trendy yet homey. It took what felt like forever to get my ham and cheese sandwich: I saw a worker go into another room to bring out an unopened unsliced ham. All was forgiven when my croissant arrived with lovingly thin sliced ham with crispy lettuce and a red tomato. The banana bread was absolutely the best I have ever had. I am tempted to suggest you get off the freeway and drop in for a unique atmosphere with fabulous but simple food. You can take music lessons while you are there. Good luck parking: the dentist is territorial.

Sample of some of their fare.

A few steps up the street from Whitmore Lake, this place has a very chill vibe and cool music scene. Comfy couches and small tables encourage you to chill and enjoy the relaxing music atmosphere while sipping their delicious beverages. The menu has a variety of favorites, and the baristas "get it" (no need to start a 15-minute Power Point to explain the drink) when you ask for something off the menu--very chill and accommodating. Their Pound Cake, Banana Chocolate Bread and GF Peanut Butter cookies are awesome (moist, soft, and chewy to go perfect with your morning brew). If you're near, you may have other coffee options, but I suggest you give them a try instead!

When I opened the bag I could tell right away it was too fine. I attempted to pull a shot, but got nothing. It was most definitely Turkish grind. Since I could do nothing with the bag, I went back to explain this was ground too fine. The same individual was there and reacted with condensation, saying this is indeed espresso grind, which is basically Turkish, and he doesn't know what kind of maker I have so he cannot dial it in. I said I have never had this problem in the years I have done this at other shops. He acted like he could do nothing for me, so when I pressed that I can do nothing with these beans I spent money on, he got on the phone. At one point I heard him say, "Yes, I tried to explain that to her." As if I didn't know what I was talking about. I was finally given the option to get a bag of beans without having them ground, which is all I really wanted. I can grind the beans in my own grinder at home. I went down the street and bought a bag of beans there. I asked for espresso grind and mentioned that the last place gave me Turkish. She had to look up the appropriate setting, but she got it perfect. When I got home and opened the bag of beans from Black Iron, the beans were oily and smelled burnt. My coffee tasted that way, too. I was rather shocked because the latter I had ordered with my purchase was not bad. I had to use them up slowly by masking the bad taste with my go-to beans.

Sandwiches (gluten free bread), soup (gluten free options), coffee, cocktails, and ice cream! Something for every time of the day. Order at the front and they will bring it to your table. This method was a tad disorganized and you could tell the 2 gals working were either a bit overwhelmed or unsure who was coming or going. I suggest giving your guests a number on a little stand for their table after ordering. That'll keep you from hollering out their name and walking around the establishment trying to find them. Nonetheless, the food tasted great! Parking: street parking out front and on the side but there's a free lot on the northeast side of the area. Attire: casual. Great place for kids & dogs on patio

This…read morebusiness is a Barista style operation where they have basically alll the drinks you would expect to see at a coffee shop of this nature. For my first drink here I ended up getting a latte where the espresso was made from organic fresh roasted in house beans. The drink was very well made with the correct ratio of milk to espresso and was creamy, balanced, where the espresso clearly shined through and most importantly the drink was quite tasty. Relative to staff and facility, Joe the owner greeted me as I walked in the door and was very friendly and outgoing where he knew the names of several customers as they walked into the coffee shop. Joes friendly demeanor appears to be one of the strengths of this business, aside from his excellent coffee, as evidenced the return customers that came in during the short period I was in his shop. The facility is quite clean with a nice coffee shop vibe to it. It has a smaller footprint with a limited number of tables for indoor dining where they also sell fresh roasted coffee beans by the bag, some pastries, and prepared food among other things. Overall great coffee at a reasonable price and a friendly owner makes this a shop not to be missed if you in the Novi area. Especially if you are a coffee geek like me.
