I am just back home from my three-week stay at The Pearl Laguna Beach. It was a life-changing experience for me in the best possible way. The program is challenging but wildly rewarding. I had never tried yoga before, so three weeks of twice-daily led by Geo, the man who created power yoga in the 70s, was an ideal way to start learning. His tips, adjustments, and attitude made me love yoga and the long-term yogis got killer workouts, too. The hiking was really hard for me as I was not in great cardiovascular shape and those Laguna Hills are gorgeous but steep! The staff modified things for me as needed so that I could push myself as hard as I could without tackling things that were beyond my fitness levels. Those who were uber fit got great workouts, too. The cleanse part was easy--I did not miss alcohol, sugar, or meat. Aysa's vegetarian meals were spectacular -- 5 star restaurant worthy, filling, healthy, and delicious. The frequent teas, broths, and juices were great treats in between. I never once felt hungry while I was there. I lost 11.5 lbs and 29" -- had I not had a bad bout of vertigo the last week (an occasional issue for me), it would have been even more. But to focus on the physical part misses the bigger point -- The Pearl owners Geo and Katresha are trying to encourage healthy balance in all aspects of life through conversations on the margins of activities, reviewing guests' goals, meditation, nutrition conversations, etc. The staff is remarkable as well. It really shows that the whole team cares so much that each visitor gets the most positive, personalized experience possible. Things I particularly loved: Heidi's hiking encouragement and her yoga classes, particularly the restorative yoga on Thursday nights. Heaven. She's so down to earth, positive, and deeply committed to each guest. Joey's easy-going hiking leadership style while getting 12 hikers on the road, on the mountains, and "home" with local area insights and flora and fauna expertise. Kellen and Brian's quick wits and positive attitudes. Esther, Lulu, and Teresa's loving care in the kitchen and throughout the house. They are the heart of The Pearl. Daily massages from a variety of excellent therapists. What a great treat at the end of a touch hike in the hills. Do yourself a favor: go! read more

Spent the most incredible day at The Pearl with a few girlfriends, and it truly exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, everything felt intentional, elevated, and deeply restorative. We started with a tour of the property, which is absolutely stunning--lush, serene, and thoughtfully designed in every detail. From there, we moved into a yoga class set in the most magical room. It felt like being in a treehouse--surrounded by natural light, with a crackling fire adding the coziest, grounding energy. The instructor was exceptional--challenging in all the right ways, yet calming and centering by the end. We all walked out feeling both strong and completely reset. After class, we enjoyed delicious protein smoothies before heading into a sauna session, which set the tone perfectly for what came next--the highlight of the day: the Russian banya. For anyone unfamiliar, a Russian banya is a traditional, deeply therapeutic sauna experience that goes beyond just heat. It involves sitting in a high-heat, steam-filled room, followed by periods of cooling down (some of us chose cold plunges others chose fresh air). A signature element is the use of venik--bundles of leafy branches--that are gently tapped and brushed over the body to stimulate circulation, detoxification, and relaxation. It's an experience- invigorating, a little intense, and incredibly rejuvenating. The entire experience felt both luxurious and grounding. Like a true reset for both body and mind. After a day of movement and reflection, sitting down to a freshly prepared meal by an incredibly talented chef felt like the perfect end to our day. Every bite was nourishing, vibrant, and made with so much love! This place is a reset for your soul. I left feeling more connected, more present, and deeply grateful. If you want to get into shape quickly and drop those holiday pounds, there's no better place to do it than The Pearl Laguna! I lost 6 1/2 pounds & 12 1/2 inches (total) after a week there. I felt SO amazing after that week - my energy levels increased and I maintained the peaceful state of mind I attained during my visit. The facility is gorgeous, with private rooms & bathrooms, organic sheets, mattresses, towels etc. The gourmet vegetarian cuisine is artfully prepared, and though light on calories, it was BIG on flavor! World-famous Geo (owner), the pioneer of Power Yoga, leads you through an inspiring yoga class, with one pose flowing into the next. The class is NEVER boring, as with other yoga classes which are too repetitive for me. Katresha, the co-owner, is absolutely delightful (and gorgeous - glowing with health & vitality) and she's very knowledgeable about food, removing toxins from the body, and healing in general. The hiking is tough while you're doing it, but the beautiful scenery is a great distraction and the result is nothing short of a miracle! I've been there 3 times over the past few years and am planning to go again soon. I've been there solo and with friends and either way, it's a fabulous week! read more

This is my second time at The Pearl, and, like the last time, I walk away lighter and stronger, physically and emotionally. The hikes, yoga classes, delicious meals, meditations, and massages are top-rate and yield all the results one would want. The Pearl itself is wonderful, with so many touches of understated elegance and thought. But the thing that really sets this special place apart from any other spa I've been to is the people. From the fitness guides, to the incredible women preparing meals and keeping the resort running, to the yoga instructors, to the masseuses, everyone who works here makes you feel comfortable and at home. It provides the perfect backdrop for guests to challenge themselves in whatever ways they see fit. I can't mention the people, though, without thanking Geo and Katresha. Their kindness and devotion to holistic living emanate from every corner of The Pearl and saturate every interaction. I just completed a week at Blue Pearl Laguna and I feel amazing! I was a little apprehensive to book my retreat, as I have never been on a cleansing program before. I was worried about all the things I would miss. After a few days, my body started to adapt to the daily hiking and yoga. The food was delicious. I really enjoyed the daily massage each afternoon, as my muscles were ready for some care. Most of all, I am grateful for the life changes I have made since my return home.
