This place was surprisingly good. Staff is friendly and the food is better than expected.

We had a party of 20 for dinner at Peddlers. The food was exceptionable, but the cocktails, not so much. What REALLY ruined it for us was the very poor service. When we arrived, the hostess gave us a half-hearted greeting and pointed us to our dining room instead of escorting us. The waitress was cold, never smiled nor did she introduce herself. For the most part, the men were on one side of the table with the women were on the opposite side. The waitress started taking the orders of the men before the women. The food came out in a reasonable time and we all enjoyed our meals. Once we paid our checks the waitress disappeared. There was no "goodbye and thanks for dining with us" along with an invitation to return, and we won't. I hate to go there but the entire service experience wreaked of discrimination, because that atmosphere did not extend to the rest of restaurant patrons which were mostly Caucasian. My husband and I were visiting from Georgia, but our family lives in and around Florence, SC. Needless to say that's 18 other people that will not return and will likely share their poor experience w/others. I had been wanting come Peddler for long time & my expectations for stellar food was snuffed out. Lately, we have had bad experiences w waiter/waitress and this was case again. Our waitress social skills were zero out of ten, despite the table beside us she talked up. This sort of poor customer service drops score quickly even if food is great, but the food was also blab. All these negatives, and got stuck w a wobbly table, facepalm. This was a birthday meal so tried make most of it. Order was lobster bisque, half; miniscule lobster pieces; oysters Rockefeller more spinach & cheese than oyster. Petite filet w mushrooms and salad. The salad bar wasn't bad and the mushrooms were quite good, but my filet mignon was way salty. I did also have Southern Gentleman bourbon that was tasty. One comes to Peddler for steak & mine was disappointing compounded by horrible waitressing. Leaves bad taste in mouth prolly won't return. read more

It is probably the best salad bar in all of Florence (except maybe the one at Harris Teeter), as it is well maintained and has a decent variety of both healthy things (spinach, beets, chick meas and mini-corn) and a bunch of not healthy things (blue cheese dressing, ham, cheese, potato salad). So the choice is yours as to how you want to go here as you wait for your dinner to be prepared. I went with the prime rib and a decent cut was brought to me on the plate. Cooked to order, bathed in a nice au jus, it cut perfectly and tasted excellent. Just the right size for my tummy, too. Baked potato on the side, well, they serve the potato and then ask if you'd also like some sour cream and butter with it. Well, yes. I think it would also have been nice with some chives and bacon bits. And I write this review, I'm thinking that I could have gone over to the salad bar and gotten some great stuff to go with the potato. Oh, well. Next time. If you are craving steak and don't mind paying min . $10.00 too much per person then go here . The quality of steak is priced like Ruth Chris but served like a low ranking Applebee's. I would recommend the prime rib but the Filet was full of fat and chewy parts . The asparagus was terrific. The salad bar should have fresh eggs not bagged precooked for the price they charge . I will not return unless my family talks me into it bc they r craving steak as there are not a lot of options in the area . Driving down the i95 corridor I needed something else besides fast food junk. I saw an advertisement for this place so we decided to give it a try. It is about 3.5 miles off the exit so it takes about 10 minutes to get to. This wasn't a big deal for me because I couldn't deal with more fast food. The place is in a little strip mall but the restaurant was upscale and very nice. I had the Prime rib and my mom had the sirloin. The steaks come with access to the salad bar. The salad bar was quite large and had lots of offerings. The steak and prime rib were both good. My only critique was the steak could've used more salt and my prime rib was a little small for $24.95. Other than that, everything was excellent from the service to the $6 glass of wine. read more

First, the steak was GREAT. It was cooked perfectly. It had great flavor. So if you want a great steak, by all means this is a good place to go. This place is small and the layout is kind of awkward. The ambiance is fine, but not really what I would expect from a Peddler Steakhouse. The biggest thing that my party found that was missing was that they do not bring the meat to the table for you to select from like they do at other Peddler's. The service was friendly, but VERY slow. I will say that they did just recently open, but wow people, REALLY slow. Food: The salad bar was good. VERY fresh. Pretty standard as far as to what was on it. The sides were disappointing. Baked Potato, Sweet Potato, Fries, mixed veggies. You get a choice with each entree. Dessert- We had a cheesecake and a fried cheesecake. Both were very good. Steak- We had 2 filets, both cooked perfectly, delicious. We had a NY Strip, which was very good and cooked just about right. A Ribeye, very good, cooked correctly. A Steak Kebab- She ordered it Medium Rare, but it was after all a Kebab, and it is hard to cook a kebab on the rare side. So she said it was OK. Overall. I took a date to this place based on the online photos, the dinning room presentation, and menu alone. That was a mistake and I should have known better. This the tough, gristly, nasty Ribeye was sooooo bad it could have passed as a pot-roast. Seasoning was a mess, they didn't give it a good sear, and it was cooked unevenly. I just expected more considering the price and how this place sports the title 'steakhouse'. Had I been alone, I would have sent it back, but it would have made us late for a movie. I wanted to love this place. I had high hopes for it as it appeared upscale, classy, and modern. It's menu ~looked~ excellent, and the servers were quite good. However, it's the steak that really matters, and this place leaves you with the impression of having all the bells and whistles but lacking substance at it's core. We were treated to dinner here by the company as a reward for exceptional performances for 2014. It was okay but unremarkable. I had heard people speak about the place but it did not live up to the hype. Service here was about the same you would experience at any chain restaurant like Chili's or Ruby Tuesdays and the food was of the same quality. I ordered the large cut filet for $29 and asked for it medium rare. I would like to express my apologies to the cow whose life was given for this effort. She deserved better. We had a party of about 15 at one table and the food was auctioned off as it was served for all courses from beginning to end. Some guests were skipped during the ordering process and had to ask for courses or sides after the fact. If the prices were lower, I would give this place a higher rating because my expectations would not be as great. I realize this is not a Morton's or a Ruth's but if the word on the street is that the place is high-end, then it should be considered as such compared to a respectable restaurant and not a diner. This place is located in a strip mall or sorts near a cluster of discount stores. I could not come up with a better metaphor if I tried. Returned with a business group for lunch. Restaurant was not crowded. I think people forget this restaurant serves lunch. Really, it is a great place to go and have a relaxing lunch with co workers. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading mixed reviews, but it was an overall decent meal, just very straight forward meat and potatoes. My wife always wanted this place so on 3/11/2022 we decided to try it out. The wait was about 15 minutes, not too bad for Friday night. Me and wife both decided to order a ribeye steak. I order my steak medium rare. My wife ordered medium well. My steak came out well done. I sent it back ( the server showed me where she put the steak in medium rare). They fixed the issue and cooked me another steak, this time it wasn't cook medium rare again, it was cooked more like medium well. I decided to just go ahead and eat the steak, I was hungry. The steak I was served was a bit on the tough side, the worst part was the amount of fat left on the steak, 30% of the steak was fat. The beef was low quality, for $34 I did not expect the best, but I expected ok steak, but this is a good way to run customers away. Please don't focus on being a place to eat steak at and have poor quality meat and train your people how to cook steaks at the right temps. I'm never coming back since I spent $90 and the food quality was poor, but do better for the future customers. At 9:20p we left with no food, no phone number and never even received bread. I live I. florence, SC and the choices for restaurants are slim. I want the Peddler to succeed but they don't want to. My family wanted to surprise me for my birthday so we ended up here. Staff had to be gotten continously to order food and replenish our drinks. One of my guest food had to be sent back. The straw that broke the camel's back was a roach crawling on the wall then it preceded to fall on table. Waitress was informed and killed the roach; the napkin that she killed the roach with she sat it on the table. She nonchalantly carried on with giving us our bill. We were a party of three celebrating a special occasion. All of us had the small fillet mignon, and each steak was cooked exactly to order; the flavor was excellent and the meat was very tender. The side dishes--while not exotic--were most delightful, and we enjoyed preparing our own salads our own way at the salad bar. Although that is not everyone's choice in this kind of restaurant, all three of us liked making our salads according to our varied tastes. The cheesecake is a commercial standard, but of good quality. The crem brulee is made in house and is exceptionally tasty. The service has obviously sped up significantly since AMD's trip. We were surprised by how quickly our steaks came out--mere moments after we had finished our salads. Our server, Nicole, took excellent care of us, checking on us at appropriate times but not interfering with our conversation. The meal was fairly expensive, but not out of line with that quality of food and service in the Florence area. In my opinion, young children would not enjoy this place. While there is nothing there that would be offensive to families with children, the menu and ambiance are decidedly adult. I personally would not take anyone younger than early to mid teens to the Peddler. Bottom line: If you don't mind paying for it, this is a great place to get a great steak with all the trimmings. read more

If you're looking for a good salad then you've come to the right place. The salad bar was the best part of this "steak house". The shrimp cocktail came to the table within minutes of ordering. You could tell they pre set them in the glass with the sauce and then put them in the fridge. The medium rare "filet mignon" I ordered came out medium well and in no way was a filet. It was about 1/2 an inch thick and reminded me of the top sirloin from Outback. If you're looking for a better steak head to Percy and Willies or The Library down the road. read more
